Herschels Pittsburgh Reviews
The wife and I had a wonderful experience dining out at Hershels last night. She had the smothered steak bake potato and I had the double bacon blt. My blt was delicious. The bacon was cooked to perfection with crisp vegetables. My wife's baked potato was hearty and had a delicious flavor. The smothered steak and grilled onions with the gravel mmmm. Very nice. The dessert we had was the homemade banana pudding. Oh my God!!! They really handled their business on it. I have never purchased BP from a outside source that was this good and well prepared homemade. Everything tasted as if it came out my wife's kitchen. Please if you dont do anything else stop by Hershels and try the homemade banana pudding. 5 stars
Great food, Great prices, Friendly atmosphere…
I didn't know they had flavory juicy burgers.
We visited family in Pittsburg. They treated us to Herschel's and we loved it! We had it to go and it was delicious. I can't wait to try it again next time and sit to eat our breakfast fresh and hot.
DH and I stopped by on a road trip to OK. He had the patty melt and I had the club a sandwich with pepper jack cheese. We shared a side of onion rings. Flavors were good, ingredients fresh and service was quick. Onion rings were done to perfection. The restaurant was clean and well maintained. What kept the food from a 5 star was the uneven construction of both sandwiches. The patty melt had all the onions in a glob in the middle while my club had bacon only in the middle. Since it was quartered, only the first bite of each quarter has bacon. Everything was present to make these 5 star eats, but the poor assembly brought them down to a 4 or 4.5.
My first time at Herschels I had expected a sit down with server environment but you order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Western Omelette was perfect and the coffee was hot and fresh. Friendly, helpful staff. I definitely recommend
We were in a group of about 30 senior adults. Bill had everything ready for us when we arrived. Everyone was gracious, professional, and welcoming. Food was outstanding and arrived at our tables in a timely manner and served up with a smile from our friendly servers. I heard several complimentary remarks about the food from my fellow travelers. Thanks to Bill and Staff for such a delicious, relaxing lunch!
Hershel's was completely new to me up until last week. I stopped by there on my way home from Mount Pleasant one day because I noticed they had homemade pie! lol I ended up getting one of their bacon loaded spuds & let me tell you, it was to die for! Soft, mushy & packed full of delicious bacon, cheese, sour cream & butter. It was made to perfection! I of course also got a slice of homemade coconut pie & it was amazing as well & you definitely can't beat the price at only 2.99 a slice! Needless to say, I have already been back & ordered the same items, because I'm kind of a creature of habit, plus it was so divine the 1st time I had to have more. This time they were just finishing up some fresh potatoes & so I waited a few minutes for it to be done & again, an EXCELLENT spud! Although I live almost 30 miles away, I will definitely be going back for more in the near future & recommend you do as well! :)
Got 1 cup of coffee for service. That's it. Dropped off my food and never saw the waitress again. Food was good though and I learned to just get my own beverage.
Upscale Grandy’s. Order at the counter from a fixed menu that has a decent selection. Tables were a little sticky for my liking. Wife loved the loaded bake potato. Okra was cooked to order as was the chicken fried steak.
The people who work here are excellent. Very friendly, knowledgeable, happy to help. Genuine. But $17 for a hospital food chicken sandwich combo is outrageous. How on earth are families able to afford eating here anymore, considering their prices have virtually tripled, outpacing inflation? Do people still come here every morning for breakfast? If so, how do they still pay rent?
Good food, but they would rather inconvenience their customer than make right in their mistakes. I ordered breakfast and spent $23 on 2 platters. One order of eggs was to be over medium and the other scrambled hard. I get home to find that they were both scrambled hard- I don’t eat scrambled hard eggs. I called to tell them thinking they would maybe write my name down and fix it the next time I came (not charge me for my eggs the next time). Instead the lady told me I had to come back now and they would fix me some new eggs. I told her I wasn’t able to come back right now and she said if I didn’t, there was nothing that could be done. I thought that was pretty lacking customer service being that they made the mistake and I had spent $23! Receipt shows over medium and scrambled hard…. 3 stars due to customer service.
Yeah no terrible. I was with my family coming from Kilgore on the way to Oklahoma and stopped to eat for the couple hour drive ahead of us. Cfs came out small tasted good just very little. The grilled cheese had hardly any cheese and the chicken fingers were literally bread. Never again!
My complaint won't matter since there is only a couple of dine-in choices in Pittsburg. Tbh nor would hundreds of bad reviews hurt them. Besides they are rooted in almost every town around here. And grateful to have them all, really. They DO have good food and the best hamburgers anywhere. But, if you ask for a baked potato and dare ask them to chop-in the butter (margarine) before they put other toppings on.....Oh my!!! You get an attitude, they roll their eyes at you, they're snarky and act like you've asked for their firstborn child or demanding the keys to their house. Good grief, it's just pliable fake butter, which is really no big deal on your end. Absolute no muscle strain. Remember it's the little things that matter!!! Here's the issue, by the time I get my potato the butter substitute has fallen off the sides and under the potato. Then my butter is pretty useless, and hard to get back onto my potato. The joy and excitement long gone. Here's a thought and will keep your assembly line flowing; how about put your margarine in a squeezable container like the other condiments and just squeeze it all over. Let's be real it's fake butter anyways, you're not fooling anyone. Be grateful I'm not bitching about that as well, we all know there are no health benefits too margarine. Truth is I asked for butter (BUTTER) not margarine and I was never corrected. So let's keep that little lie going. I realize times are tough for restaurants and hard to keep them open, so keep using the margarine and saving money. But remember it's the little things that matter!!!! Again, I'm aware this a useless complaint to some, and I sound like a "Karen". But isn't it just like the other establishments who put a tiny seed size portion of ketchup and a tiny drop of mustard on your hamburger bun, with one sad beat down pickle, discouraging right? Aren't we all a little bit of Karen from time to time. When all along you know you can make the same plate better at home, but you try to enjoy the convenience of picking it up somewhere just to be highly disappointed???? Remember it's the little things that matter!!! Dear Hershsels rolling your eyes at me for such a small request as chopping in some fake butter, is not too much to ask for. To me it's like ordering a milkshake without the milk. Because some employee felt like it was too much work to take the time to pour the milk in. So "my bizarre butter request" it's not a personal attack! And being rude to me, well that in it's self is bad for business one customer at a time. .....the little things do matter!!!
So today we placed a togo order... It was awful. 11.99 burrito was a fried frozen burrito, the meat in the cheeseburger was not done, the french fries were stale... Just a awful,,, uneditable, waste of money... They lost our business...
Drive thru is HORRIBLE! You are instructed at the menu board to pull forward to order...well I have a suburban full of people and who can remember a menu board after you have left it (they actually have quite the menu) girl at the window says she has no idea what's on the menu to help us as we are trying to recall what we saw ...really like you don't sit here and here menu items from others ordering...like we saw some kind of burrito plate etc what's on it we ask her..uh I have no idea what you are talking about she responds and says no we cannot see a menu when we ask for a printed menu ..and no going in reverse was not an option as there was another car behind us. So tried to recall in our minds our huge order...if half the car was not elderly and hard to move I would have just gone in ...get the order placed and then we are informed to pull up so our drivers window is by the garbage can where we are forced to watch hordes of flies surrounding our car and the stench filling our car. 22min later we have our food...$5 onion ring order was a joke,!!
