Crazy long wait which was surprising as it was earl when we went. But we did not have a reservation and the wait was worth it. There was such a wonderful selection of food to choice from. We loved the interior. It was so inviting and colorful. The fountain was a nice touch as well as the sky looking ceiling. There were three types of salsa that are provided with the chips. Each had their own unique flavor.
I actually came about 11:00 A.M. ish, and the atmosphere was pretty much chilled. Low - key and not too crowded. A formal colleague at the time sent me this restaurant gift card because I sent him a gift thanking him for helping me. The colleague had explained how wonderfully delightful this place was if you're into Mexican food. Actually, to be honest, I was very pleased, and I guess if I have to take co-workers or such, this is one of the true Mexican restaurants...I will definitely take them to. I'm a real history learning type-of person, so I like real true history, not the fake kind that you see here in the States. Abuelo's means grandfather....cool!
It has been a great experience overall. The food, the service and atmosphere were all great. The fajitas were greatly prepared and tasty. The coffee was fresh. The soft tacos were also good. Fast and efficient service. Will come and visit again.
No way !!!! this is my first time beautiful young lady was showing me the table.. !!!! The food was amazing and the service WOW !!!! I will definitely recommend every one to stop by and try the Mexican great food ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
We visited Abuelo's on a Saturday afternoon and we're able to be seated right away. The food and atmosphere were great and our waiter was friendly and helpful with questions about menu items. I had the Raspberry Hibiscus Margarita and it was delish! I had the Loredo (a beef enchilada, a cheese enchilada and a crispy taco) and I will definitely get it again when I go back.
UPDATE Aug 2024: WOW! Its been forever since we ate here. A birthday discount on meal by being a loyalty club member is another motivation. We got seated right away as not many patrons inside for Sat lunch. Carlos was our waiter and did a great job. Especially when the Abuelo's app wasn't working so he took a paper copy of email with discount price and fixed it. Also when he learned of birthday girl present we got Flan' as dessert for free. Shush don't tell anyone. We got two different combo meals and had plenty for leftovers. Meals come with refried beans but they have others if you want something different. 2022: I think the last time here was so long ago I wasn't a Yelp contributor. So much competition in Collin county for one's food $$$. Great meal and better conversation with in-laws. They had a note of front door about their labor shortage so I understand the longer than usual wait for food. Order taking and so forth and bowl of chips were done right away.
Nice restaurant serving good Mexican food. Tried enchilada, chimichanga and a prawn appetizer. Everything was good came with ample of sides. Enchilada with those steamed veggie were delicious . For the food quality the price matched perfectly . They have a good vegetarian options to choose from .

Our server was Taaha and he was wonderful. The food was good and the drinks were yummy. I wish the garlic sauce on my fish had been a bit more garlicky, but that is my only complaint. The fish was cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes were FIRE. I will order the pork tenderloin next time, it was so flavorful. Overall a great experience and i'll definitely be back.
I'm returning your after a long time and the food is really really good as before. They give you a great trio of salsa assortment with the chips we ordered guacamole on the side. And then order of bacon wrapped shrimp absolutely wonderful! The top shelf margaritas were also amazing
The food was good and the portions are large. If you like margaritas, get the El Jefe. It was fantastic. They have gluten sensitive options on the menu as well.
I've eaten at the Abuelo's in Bedford but this one didn't seem to hold to the same food quality standard as that one. I ordered the Steak & Enchiladas and the whole experience was just ho-hum. The steak was practically tasteless. Even the enchiladas lacked in flavor. The chips & salsa were the only things that seemed just as good. This probably won't be my last visit to Abuelo's but it may be my last visit to this location.
We had lunch at Abuelo’s on a hot summer day and were pretty impressed by the ambience, food and quality. We tried veggies enchiladas, Australian sea bass, trio fajita sampler and sides. Each dish comes with lots of sides. They give you complementary tortilla chips and three different salsas, the green one was my favorite. The inside gives somewhat Vegas vibes. They have a separate vegetarian/vegan menu as well.
We had lunch here and were very impressed by the ambience, service, and food quantity! The waiter Mike was very polite and attentive! The price was reasonable and portion size was huge! We will definitely be going again. We bought a $50 gift card but they charged me $3 as “packaging fee”!! This was outrageous! They did not do any “packing”!! I felt cheated - that’s why I am not giving 5 stars! I am charging them one star for writing a review! Edit: I went there again today for lunch. The vegetables in their quesadilla and fajitas were straight out of the California blend frozen bag - cauliflower, zucchini, carrots, and broccoli. Nothing Mexican about this. With the chips/salsa, our waiter Jordan asked if we’d like queso and we said ok. But was surprised to see an additional $10 on our bill for this! I wish we had been told it would be charged! I also do not like the “packaging charge” for a to-go order!
Had a chance to visit this restaurant during our visit to Dallas. As mentioned by many, the ambience is great, sitting area is huge and the service is excellent. The portion sizes are huge and they also have a good selection of cocktails. The kids menu also has a variety of standard options like rice, beans, quesadilla, milk, fries, soft drinks etc. The food though is a little bland, at least the vegetarian options we ordered. My suggestion to them would be to able to choose a spice level when ordering (mild, medium, hot etc) if possible. All in all, worth a visit for sure.
Although everything was very good, food lacks flavor, but the attention is unbeatable. There is a wide variety on the menu, including vegetarian options, kids menu and variety of drinks, I went for watermelon margarita and fajita trio (that includes shrimp, beef and chicken)..beef was so delicious. Totally recommend if you want to spend time with family, go on a date or just have a good time.
Pretty good Mexican food - everything is good here. Queso was good. My layered enchiladas were good, salad was really good. The only reason this is four instead of five stars is that it’s a little over-priced - of course, you are paying for the ambiance and Abuelo’s is a really nice place! Solid experience - never disappointed with Abuelo’s. Service is always top-notch as well.
Our server was excellent but the food was bland. The coke was good. The chicken I had reminded me of the high school cafeteria chicken that tastes rubbery and fake. My wife had the nachos and they were probably the worst nachos I’ve had in a while. Very bland and tasteless. The menu definitely needs to be looked at for the prices they are charging versus the quality of food they serve.
Not too impressed with the chimichanga. The atmosphere is nice. They didn’t play any cultural music which I found was strange but rather like pop music. The cheese tasted fake. Overall not impressed for the price tag. Was expecting better quality ingredients and flavor.
