Our first time at OTB and did not disappoint. The staff was attentive, friendly, and helpful. The chips were a bit salty from over shaken? But could be a one time off. The salsa wasn't spicy enough but I was given extra jalapeno to compensate. The fajitas was excellent 👌. Will be back to try other dishes!
Love coming here, great quality. Huge shout out to their server, Steve. Great guy, easily the best server I think I have had ever. Such a nice guy, easy to talk to.
Best service I've seen in a while the best carne adsa meal I've ever had highly recommend the garlic butter with the carne adsa heaven in your taste buds a once in a lifetime experience and the staff are so nice and kind highly recommend this place
Our 1st time here in awhile. OTB has new corporate ownership and it is noticeable. May be the same building, but that is about all. From the salsa to the fajitas, we will be back. Hopefully Durwin will be behind the bar. Salud!
Thank you Pappasitos! You turned On The Border from borderline Taco Bell to an upscale dining experience. The ingredients were fresh and reminiscent of Pappasitos, in fact we LOVED the queso better here than the big restaurant! We started with a sampler that came with flautas, beef fajita nachos, and chicken quesadillas. It also came with guacamole and sour cream. We don’t know what you put on that chicken quesadilla but it was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Then we also ordered chicken and beef fajitas. I absolutely loved the chicken fajitas and my mom liked the beef, especially because it came with that signature butter like with Pappasitos. I’d like to add that the chips and salsa were identical, hot and ready chips and fresh warm salsa. Food aside, we have to give compliments to our server and the manager. Everything came out perfect, and when we kept mulling over options and being indecisive, our server was more than happy to wait or offer advice and was readily available whenever we needed her. A complete turn around from the abysmal experiences we’ve had of late at OTB. All we would like to see now is those signature charro beans and the fajita ribs! We thought what we had dined on was fair in price and is an awesome solution for families to have a great Pappasitos experience without breaking the bank or having to travel down to Richardson.
So happy to see what Pappas has done with this concept. They have definitely turned it around for the better. Steak fajitas were some of the best I've had. And my kids ate EVERYTHING which says a lot since one of them is a super picky 2 year old. Service was top tier, exactly what I expect from Pappas.
For those that don’t know, Pappas bought OTB out of bankruptcy earlier this year. They revamped the menu and recipes. It’s essentially Pappsitos lite now. I had one of the best Tex-Mex meals tonight in a long time. The salsa and beef fajita meat tastes exactly like Pappasitos. Servings are smaller (and cheaper!) than Pappasitos, but every bit as tasty!
Onthe Border has good food at a good price with helpful staff. The Chicken or Beef Quesidillas are really good. There are several kinds of Enchiladas, but our favorite ate Cheese Enchiladas with chili con carne. Happy hour offers reduced price drinks, including $5 Grande Margheritas that are really good!
I had a wonderful experience at this location. Food was great & served quickly! WB Conner was a fantastic server. He was kind, respectful & very attentive. He tended to us very frequently & we didn’t have to look or ask for him. Definitely give him a raise! Thanks for your service!
The service here is outstanding—not just from the manager, but from every server we encountered. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and made every table feel truly valued. A special thank you to Lisa for her wonderful service—she was absolutely amazing and so nice! The fajitas were incredible—my husband and I both agree they are the best we’ve had in the area. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting, and the location is conveniently close to home. We’ll definitely be coming back!
It was busy when we arrived. The manager tonight made sure to greet us. I dont see a lot of managers lately talking to tables. That was nice to see. Our server Chris did a amazing job. We ordered the quest and fajitas. The manager gave us a free quest card from the next visit. We will be back! Busy for them but staff overall did great
On The Border is a fantastic restaurant that offers authentic Mexican cuisine and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The menu is extensive and the portions are generous, with bold and well-balanced flavors. The staff is friendly and attentive. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is fun and lively. An excellent choice for anyone looking for delicious Mexican food and a great experience.
I was expecting more since they are owned by Papasitas. Small menu. Chicken fajitas we're under seasoned and no bell peppers. The queso, chips and salsa were good. The restaurant needs the back of the booths to be steam cleaned or replaced.
We had Skirt steak fajitas which was so delicious, I did not like how it served and the nacho and salsa was not what I like but overally the food was good. The skirt was a game changer so juicy and delicious!! I also think they can improve their rating by changing the dishes and serving style and get a real salt shaker!! It does not feel a good health place when I see Corona's bottle as a salt shaker! The waiter did not take our menu after we ordered
We moved from OKC to the Houston area where they don’t have OTB’s. We go out of our way when traveling to go to OTB. Today we learned that the Papa group bought OTB and changed the salsa and several other items on the menu to be more in line with Papa menus. Huge disappointment. I loved the OTB salsa and chicken nachos. Don’t see any reason to come back to OTB and that makes me sad.
Carne Asada $21 Ranchilladas $23 Queso $10 Disappointing meal at one of our favorite restaurants... Originally ordered Brisket Taco but they were out of brisket... Sides were small portions and on the carne asada order the rice and vegetables were burnt onto the hot plate and too salty. Too much raw onion in queso. Biggest pet peeve: waitress using terms of endearment. Each sentence started and ended with "love" "honey" "sweetie" --was too much even for Texas. Water glass was left empty. Plus side: Restaurant was clean and we were greeted and seated immediately.
Our waitress was very kind and attentive. The queso was great, but the chicken fajitas were plain and the beef fajitas were chewy. The fajita plate came out sizzling with jalapeño slices, which tasted good but the steam was like tear gas. The cilantro rice was also plain. Even with the new management, the food quality needs improvement before I’d consider coming back.
We ordered two pick two deals. The photo is of the beef enchilada and cheese enchilada with rice and beans. The enchilada was a flavorless disappointment with barely any filling inside of the tortilla. The food tastes like something you would get from the school cafeteria. The service is average as no one brought me my to go order I had to go back to the counter to check on it even though I was seated inside of the restaurant. The atmosphere is casual and okay for something quick. I definitely would not recommend the food. I could only eat the rice the rest was not good. After I had left the review I went to bed but I was awakened about two hours later with excessive stomach pains. I was awake most of the night sick. This was the only food that I had eaten that could have caused it. I’m still feeling sick.
This is not On The Border, it is Papasitos. No one said anything til we got the salsa and asked why it is different. I told my waitress it wasn't good. We got charged 40 dollars for 2 tacos. It says on the border on the sign but is definitely false advertisement.
I honestly feel this is a first for me. I actually left the establishment hungry. The food and service was that bad. I honestly perceive it as simply bad management. It was the 4th of July, and when walking in, I saw no staff what so ever. I waited maybe 7 minutes and a nice young lady came out and was pleasant. Unfortunately that was the highlight of the experience. Lets start off with the Chips. The only seasoning the chips was thst of a thin coat of grease. Extremely bland. The salsa tasted as if it came out of a can. Not fresh at all. I ordered the Dos XX Tacos and it was supposed to be Tempura however the fish was soggy. After being disappointed, I thought, let me try the Tres Leches Cake. Tres Leches translates to 3 milk cake. This cake wasn't moist at all. I took one bite and pushed it to the side. As a final insult, I explained to my server I wasn't happy with the cake. She apologized and said she would remove it from my bill. As you scroll through the pictures, you will see she never took it off. Unfortunately this was one of my worst dining experiences:(
