La Cueva del Pez Playa del Carmen Reviews
I saw this restaurant on GBRB: KKPP so visited to try some of the dishes from the episode. None of what I ordered was actually Thai food but they were pretty good. The Cajun shrimp was good although it would've been better if it was a bit less sour. The pho bo had great balance of flavors - salty, savory, and spicy. I also ordered the fresh rolls but they were just lettuce, carrots, and mungbeam sprouts wrapped in rice paper and served with manufactured chilli sauce so kind of disappointing.
This place is simple, but the food is super good. Really close to authentic Thai cuisine. I ordered green curry and tom yum (came twice) and enjoyed both a lot. And the price quality is probably the best for more than a dozen of various restaurants I've tried across Latin America.
The spicy shrimp soup was SO delicious! I got there after walking around outside during the heat of the day in late June, & that hot & spicy soup was still absolutely worth it. Plus, it was reasonably priced. The server asked if I wanted it spicy, which means you could probably get it without being spicy. The spice was just enough to clear my sinuses without making me cry.
My go to Thai place in Playa. Delicious, fresh food, generous portions, made to order-you can see it being made. Service is good too, there is a young waiter who speaks English well for anyone who needs it. Great corner for people watching too.
Food was great. Reasonably priced. I had Pad Thai with Chicken and Tofu (that's extra for both - just how I like it). The flavors were great. Heavier on Thai Basil and less heavy on peanut satay sauce than a lot of places. My wife got the Tom Kha Gai (Coconut Lime Soup) and also liked it.
I'm a huge fan of Thai food and love it when restaurant can keep the flavours and stay vegan. Food here is tasty, they know what vegan is. Staff are friendly helpful and services is quick. Everything is cooked to order, plenty of fresh vegetables in the meals. Support this family run restaurant, it's good 👍
This place doesn’t look like much and when we invited friends to join us for our third time here they looked sceptical, but the food here is great and so are the people who run it. We get the pad Thai and yellow or green curry - the yellow is nice and mild and green is quite spicy. We have driven from Akumal all the way here 3 times now and I highly recommend if you’re craving yummy Thai food for comfort.
This place is absolutely delicious. Fantastic flavors and the food is made when its ordered with authentic Thai ingredients. Alfonso, Vale, and Javier have outdone themselves. I got the green curry and it was On Point! So delicious. I am very picky with my food and hate when its been gentrified and Chef Alfonso and Javier have brought justice to Thai cuisine in Playa Del Carmen. Highly recommended. Don't miss out on this hidden gem.
Good steamed dumpling and spring rolls. I will come back to try more food
Place was dead when we visited for lunch but good food. We were tired of eating tacos lol so we wanted to try something else. It didn't disappoint as food was cooked fresh and tasted like thai food 😅
Great value for money, at least in Playa Del Carmen. My drunken noodles were great, they tasted authentic, but the Tom yum soup although tasty, wasn’t really Tom yum soup! The cold shrimp noodle salad was in point and was delicious. If you want a break from 5th Ave both the prices and the noise, this is your spot! I don’t think they are called Thai Chi however, but once you’re there, it’s on the corner and you can’t miss it!
Google said they opened at noon. Reviews were good, so we took a taxi to come here for lunch. Workers were there, but when we asked if they’re open - at 2pm, they just looked at us & shouted no. When I asked what time they open, again they just shouted at us in Spanish “cuarenta” which doesn’t even make sense. They clearly didn’t want our business.
