Taco's Wayside Inn Pulaski Reviews
We had a delicious dinner at the Wayside Inn restaurant. My favorite dish was the roast duck and the basket of small muffins and rolls. For desserts, the strawberry shortcake and apple pie were yummy. Thomas was our nice waiter. I had been coming here for the past 20+ years and nothing to complain about.
Absolutely lovely!! This gorgeous piece of American history is a delight! Built in 1760 s. Service was great attentive but not intrusive We had a small room for the 10 of us and it was definitely worth it. The fireplace was warm and comfortable on that cold Sunday afternoon the candles ( battery operated) were charming in the windows and at the fireplace The food was delicious from appetizers to desert… scallops were sweet and tender. The pot roast yummy. My son in law loved the turkey dinner. Of course the kids menu was full of kids meals. The gift shop had a few unique items that I put into the adults Christmas stockings We also took pictures at the grist mill and took everyone to the candy store @ Fords general store. All in all a wonderful afternoon
I went for lunch with a friend of mine.... We each had a couple of drinks which were made perfectly, and the lunch we ordered was excellent! The staff were very helpful and our waitress did a great job. It's too bad it's so far at the drive for us because we'd love to go back a lot more often. We didn't stay in the hotel part though we just had lunch.
We were 24 folks for a Christmas party for our club. The food, their famous roast beef top notch. The room is long-ish and not that wide so it's very difficult for the servers. In spite of that, they did a great job.
The Wayside Inn never disappoints! The Staff is terrific! Food is always amazing! A few favorites are the Thanksgiving panini sandwich at lunch and the prime rib at dinner. Our favorite rooms to dine have the fireplaces. Love the history! The grounds are always a delight to walk around. Seeing the Gristmill, Martha Mary Church & Mary Had a little Lamb s Schoolhouse!
The Wayside Inn is a historic inn in Sudbury, Massachusetts, United States, included on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the listed Wayside Inn Historic District. It became an inn called Howe's Tavern in 1716, making it one of the oldest continuously operating inns in the United States. Poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (first American to completely translate Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy and was one of the fireside poets from New England) visited the Inn in 1862, probably where it got its name ( I think but not sure). If you love history of America this is one of the places to make a quick stop. They also accommodate vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and other special diets and also offer a hotel to stay overnight.
Attended a wedding here and the venue was excellent. The chapel did a great job of maintaining the 1700s feel while clearly being updated. The cocktail hour and reception/dinner where held elsewhere on the grounds and again were set up very well and the staff was very attentive and helpful.
A beautiful site for afternoon adventures. I was there for a Fife and Drum Muster, including Corps and Bands from around the Northeast. The scenery is quaint New England at its finest. Enjoy the beer tent for, well, beer and also pretzels. There are your typical tchotchkes at the store, asking with apples and apple products. Nothing to shy away from and lots of fun to be had!
The restaurant is like stepping back into time. I returned to my home state and have not been to Wayside Inn for 20 years and it exceeded my expectations on the food, the atmosphere, the history and just a great lunch time experience. I built this place up to my family and what a testament to the staff and management that it's still great. The food is so good, our server was so personable. Hopefully Wayside will never change. I highly recommend you experience this gem in Sudbury, Mass.
Keep in mind this is a historic hotel. If you are looking for modern this is not your place. If you want retro with convenience may be. But you are someone that appreciates history, and likes to immerse as if you where back in that era then this is your place. I will be writing a letter to the management of my great experience and I will include names of staff in that communication. In the mean time, what I can say is do not wait and just make your reservation. You will want to go back. Enjoy, relax and make new memories.
Everything was wonderful! The food was very good as was the service! Special thanks to the awesome concierge who helped my husband who is 87 get into the car safely on this cold, icy night!

This review is about the restaurant only. This was our first visit since moving to Marlborough. We made reservations for noon on a Sunday. The parking lot was plowed and sanded, yet still a little slippery. You are allowed to drop off guests at the walkway to the entrance, which was nicely clean. We were seated across from the kitchen entrance, next to a closed off door. There was a slight draft, but the heat was on and the temperature was good. The positives: Our waitress was Marina, who was extremely pleasant, polite, and always had a smile. (It was also her birthday). She made sure to get our table set up with rolls and butter (we would like to suggest that you add a small dish of jam or honey if you serve the corn muffins as it just adds a nice touch). The drinks were served hot and delicious (we feel that $6 for a 6 oz of hot cider is a tad expensive since you can buy a gallon for less than that.) The coffee was excellent and did not need additives of sugar or creamer to make it taste better, in my opinion. The calamari was perfect and didn't have that overly greasy feel or taste. The amount was perfect and was very worthwhile. The schrod was perfectly cooked as was the butternut squash and bake potato. My daughter had the roasted duck with green beans and everything was cooked well and served hot. The lobster bisque was creamy and perfectly seasoned for me (I don't like things too salty where you can't actually taste anything but the salt). We ended our meal with the Indian pudding for dessert - a first for us - and found it interesting. I am not certain we would have it again, but it was flavorful and fun to try once. The negatives: Due to our position in the room we were in, we were witness to several "outbursts" by the staff that made the outing less than perfect. One waitress told a waiter that he would need to get his own bar glasses due to what the bartender told her (which she used an unflattering mimic of their conversation) and he was a bit snarky in his reply. Then, a group of four who were seated in Sally's area, left to view a few of the rooms after ordering drinks. She came to give them the drinks and found their table empty and made a big production of how rude it was for someone to take them on a tour. She was not pleasant about it to the hostess and complained quite loudly. The group did apologize and she said it was all fine - but I don't believe that is what she really thought. You can request to be seated in a specific room, however it may not be accommodated. It would depend on the number of people, time of day, etc. Reservations are suggested, based on how busy it got and the quality of the food.
Went for dinner Charming classic New England Inn I reserved a table and got one by one of the fire places gas- :-( There is a real fireplace in the bar! Dinner for two brussel sprouts were delicious app the lobster bisque not so much thin watery Scallops and baked potato were fabulous prime rib was Fred Flintstone big and appreciated Chocolate pecan bourbon pie was great but not served warm? Get the multi course meal save yourself a little bit of money did not stay at hotel/inn great service from Joe

The atmosphere is fantastic, but it does not make up for expensive food which was mediocre and the service was slow. I ordered a $125 bottle of wine and it came out warm, not even room temperature…
My family likes to heat at the Wayside Inn because of the atmosphere, but recently I am not happy going there because I am a vegetarian and have not found their options for vegetarians to be very satisfying. The Vegan Risotto Cakes were not very tasty or good. I think they should come up with a better dish for vegans and vegetarians. And the Vegetarian Potato Gnocchi would be fine for a side dish but to eat a whole meal of them gets really boring! The two above options have been on the menu for a long time. The veggie ravioli they used to have was better. Or they could have manicotti or stuffed shells for vegetarians. I suggest some warm grain bowl--with quinoa, veggies and maybe veggie "meat balls" and some nice sauce on it. Please take those two current options off the menu and come up with something more interesting and delicious. THANK YOU!
I would really want to give them a 4, but some of their dishes and their desserts just aren’t that good and the service is always extremely slow or lacking when they are busy. Prime ribs and steak are always great, and their bread are also good. They do claim their flour are from their own mill but I saw bags of flour they use are from a different place with the name and location printed on them. The have 20 something rooms and they are on the smaller side.
The service was good, my husband’s prime rib was good. I had chicken pot pie which was terrible. The gravy and chicken had no taste. It looked like chicken and vegetables thrown in a dish with a pastry puff on top. The mashed potatoes and squash were good. We ate there a few years ago and was excellent. What happened?
Yikes. Sooooo tired. The carpets should have been replaced 7 years ago. Food is average. Service was great. Ambiance isn't enough.

Have long wanted to experience this historic restaurant, and finally went for our 30th anniversary (Oct 2025). The grounds are amazing and the history even better. That said, the meal itself was terrible, and ridiculously expensive ($45 for a steak). We were seated in a large, in need of updating dining room with only one other couple, yet there was notable food on the floor at the table where we were seated, in spite of ample employees walking around the lobby area. Glad we went, would not recommend for a meal.
Lovely historic inn with a resistant always somewhere I like to bring guest from out of town. I made reservations so we would be sure to have a seat and service Monday. We were sat and served promptly but food took over an hour and a half to be served. Mine was cold so I sent it back and my guests prime rib was also cool and very fatty. If a restaurant cannot serve 30 people they shouldn’t seat 90. Poor experience. Zero compensation for and $80 lunch. Don’t see how I go back again.
We went to the restaurant with friends mid week. Now, I have been going to the Wayside Inn for over 50 years and it has always been a very special place. This visit was not so special, unfortunately. The food has become average. The prime rib was good, but not top-notch as it used to be. The lobster casserole was good but not the tender, succulent lobster of years before. The rest of the meal was just average. I really hate to leave such a negative review but the food was, frankly, a major disappointment. On the positive side, the service was excellent! Waitress was great!

I used to come here all the time for family events. And each time I come back the experience is worse and worse. It legitimately makes me very sad. This restaurant was my favorite place to go for years, from literally the age of 5. The most recent visit, sadly my last, brought my fiancée for the first time. I had talked it up and was incredibly excited to show him this restaurant as I had such fond memories of this place. Unfortunately, it was incredibly disappointing. The servers were doing the best they could but they were super understaffed. Also, we had a large party[8 people] and were not told until we ordered that we would not have side options. It was only mashed potatoes or squash since we had a larger party. This was very disappointing as the price was the same and a few people in our party were diabetic and on diets and did not want to order mashed potatoes and squash. The servers were very kind and were truly trying their best, but the food was cold by the time we got it. Rip, this place used to be a solid place for special occasions. I honestly hope this place can turn around for the better. It would be a shame to lose such a Massachusetts classic.
