Ingredients are fine for airport food, the issue is the staff. There are more employees than burgers coming out. Even though the burgers are made to order, they’re so dysfunctional that by the time you get it, even when you’re standing right there, the burgers and fries are cold. There is absolutely no understanding of food etiquette or process. The guys making the burgers are actually doing a good job, but they make a box at a time, and they don’t make more until all of those are gone. Creating long waits and cold burgers. It’s other lunacy!
The service was pretty slow. I waited 20 minutes to get a side of fries and a side of tots. Painfully slow. However, the tots and fries were good. Their ranch dipping sauce was good.

Should have checked the reviews before buying. The burger I got was cold, and smelled strange. The cheese was melted around the patty (but it was cold) and it looked white and disgusting. Grabbed two bites of it and decided it was not safe to continue eating. Went back to get a replacement and the replacement was better, still cold but at least the cheese was a fresh yellow color. I wonder what kind of cheese I ate earlier. Hope I don’t get food poisoning from it. 1 star for the food quality of the first round, but adding another star back for the good customer service. At $20 this is horrible. I wish they had at least just microwaved their burger for 30 seconds it would be better. And don’t serve bad cheese sigh…
The food isn’t as terrible as the reviews claim. The fries are reasonable and the milkshake is also not bad. The burger is quite average. Its biggest problem is the lack of value: $20 for a mediocre burger and $7 for a milkshake is ridiculous. If prices were 30-40% lower, it would be acceptable. All other places at the terminal also looked quite awful, so in general, there is not much to choose from. Overall, the burgers are not a complete disaster, but keep your expectations quite low.
Wow JFK has no good restaurants in this terminal 5. Custom Burgers was pretty bad. The service is incredibly slow with no one working there. I saw my order sitting there for 10 minutes before anyone came by to give it to me. I got their mushroom burger which was quite lackluster. It was a cold burger with a few mushrooms thrown on. No sauce, no cheese, nothing. Their tater tots were frozen cold and soggy, as if they never made it to the fryer to become crispy. The wings were not bad. 5 big wings covered in Buffalo sauce was actually pretty decent. Overall, bad restaurant though! I would avoid this if possible.
I decided to snag a burger quickly, or so I thought, before catching my connecting flight. Once I ordered, it actually took over 25 minutes to get my order. The people behind the cashier just didn’t seem to be in any kind of hurry or really care. I got my burger and had to start eating it right away before boarding my flight. I couldn’t believe it, the burger and fries, both, were cool. Not even warm. I ate the meal quickly, but felt disappointed. I’m not sure I would visit this burger joint in the airport again in the future.
Located in T5 at JFK. They have Impossible Burger which was nice, and it came out in about 15 minutes. Unfortunately bread was a bit cold and the cheese not fully melted, which isn’t something I’d expect for a $12 burger. Although the food comes out relatively quickly, you then have to queue again to pay for it in a separate bit. The whole system is a bit annoying. I’d come back, but only because there’s nothing better around.

Coldest burger I've ever had, hope I don't get food poisoning from it ✌️ (I'm guessing they microwaved a patty and melted the cheese onto it, but the bread and avocado were chilly. not the most inspiring and certain not worth the price, though perhaps that's just airport food for you)

Here at a layover in JFK (4/1/2025), figured we’d go get a quick bite, ordered some chicken tenders, they looked alright on the outside, soon as we bit into it, completely and utterly RAW uncooked chicken. Went back to show the Indian lady handing out and calling the orders the food and she quickly took it away and tossed it into the trash so we couldn’t take photos as proof. She did ask if we wanted new ones made but honestly after that first time I think we ALL know what happens when you send food back so we declined. Was told to put in for a “refund request” utilizing a QR code when it’s only $50.42 that could easily have been refunded right then and there but instead it’s a 3-5 day procedure, meanwhile the website says 5-7 days. Biggest April fools ever thinking we could get good food and service at a burger spot inside the airport. Never again DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!
I’m not even motivated to write this review because I hated it or had a bad experience - I just want you to know the food is just simply *bad* I got caught in the 10 PM “what to eat in the airport before everything closes” and mistakenly chose here. I’d probably have been better off going hungry EDIT: I gave up and threw it away - onion rings, burger, and fries. truly hope this review saves you the trouble (and pain)
If I could give 0 star I would ! Nasty place unsanitary the health department need to come for an inspection and shut down the place I will definitely file a complaint ! I waited over 35 minutes for my order my order was not accurate I was charged for the food and did not get it I told the person that was packing the bags about it she kept arguing with me that's it's on the bag we had to throw away the fries because they fried in very very old oil .
Horrible Horrible Horrible!!!! Worst burger I have ever had. Dry! burnt! Cold! Fries were burnt also and soggy. And before the owner comes and apologize and promise to make improvements, I just read through all the comments and realize you have been saying that for months and still I have the experience today. Wish I had read the reviews before ordering
Is it possible to give zero stars on Google Maps? Because this restaurant doesn’t even deserve one star. It should be a crime to serve food as awful as they do. We paid $50 (yes, fifty dollars) for two burgers and two fries. Leftover McDonald’s food would’ve tasted better than what they gave us. Both burgers were made incorrectly and were hard to chew. They tasted like they were fresh out of the freezer and only partly cooked. The fries were stale, as if they were left out from the night before. Save your money and go literally anywhere else besides this restaurant. If it’s your only food option, it’s better to just go hungry.
Said they would deliver to a seat. They did not. Refund has not come in yet. OTG manages to ruin any airport they touch.
The reviews are NOT exaggerated. This place is inconsistent fries were hot burger was ice cold so much for custom order couldn't change the cheese option either.. no phone number to call and the company replies to reviews says they do not care and do not try to fix any of it 👎👎👎
It was an extremely long wait time to receive my order. When I got the order I got to my gate 22. I tasted the hamburger and it was extremely cold. The meat was very dry as if it’s been sitting around all day and the cheese was cold because it was placed on a cold patty.. the tomato is mushy. It’s a very bad experience, and I have dined here on multiple times and it wasn’t as bad as their time.. I responded to the text message that my order was ready and let them know. But there was a response ..we’re working on your request. also asked if they could give me a refund because I was unable to eat the burger.. I took a picture of the burger as proof along with my receipt
I’m so sorry but I spent $20 for a cold mushy meat on a cold bun. I had to throw my burger away. The fries were pretty good and the customer service was good. But please take this review as constructive criticism to fix the burgers themselves. This place has potential but it’s not fair to charge $23 for a burger that’s not prepared properly. Respectfully, Najee
The problem with screen based or online ordering is that your order goes into a black hole. People are certainly busy making food, but it isn’t clear if your order is your next or if maybe someone accidentally took yours, it leads to frustration. Take this weary traveller showing up after a red eye from Vegas. All I wanted was a chicken sausage and eggs, but I avoid cheese and dairy so I can get worried if I think there’s a mix up in my order. The person who was meant to be my cook muttered to the short order guys in the next place and left never to return. I was left thinking “well there goes my $13 breakfast sandwich” but lo and behold, the short order cooks travel around the back, slide the orders into cubbies, then come around the front find the appropriate order and call it. It seems like the system is expecting another person there. The line for dunkies certainly implies there are some hungry passengers that might be willing to go somewhere else for a passing breakfast sandwich. Maybe start cooking the meats and eggs up front since you know your gonna get X number of orders. People stepping up, ordering, and leaving with food momentarily always makes for a more pleasant experience.
Ordered a simple burger and fries for $20. Waited almost 20 minutes and the burger was cold and the cheese wasn't even melted. Pathetic
I wish I could give this place zero service. I waited a while in line for my order. The burger was cold and fries was awful. I would never order from this place again. Run Run Run away for your darling stomach.
Got in REALLY early for our flight, thought we would grab something to eat before our long flight. Made an order, made the payment, and then waited. And waited. And waited some more… the ladies working seemed to care less about efficiency, but instead would rather make individual shakes instead of make food for the huge group of people waiting. She finally told us she didn’t receive our order, as I handed her our receipt and ticket number. No apology, no food, just an attitude with shrugging shoulders. Don’t want to do you job, don’t apply.
No amount of customization could make these burgers taste good. Spend your $18 elsewhere.
Cold and soggy / cheese didn’t even melt. How does it take as long as it did and is cold? Fries weren’t hot either. Feels like the burger had been off the grill for a while before being served. Wish I had checked out Jacob’s pickle across the atrium before ordering. For cheaper in some instances it’s a sit down place with seemingly properly cooked options. Custom Birger should be inspected for food safety because something that’s been searing out for that long shouldn’t be served.
They ain’t even trying. The chicken party was overcooked while the buns and cheese were still cold… and they gave me American instead of the cheddar I ordered. I’m not a fan of McDonalds, but to there instead
Just atrocious. $27 for a burger and fries, nothing on the burger but a single pickle and cheese. Unreal, even for airport food.
Waited more than 20minutes for food of poor quality. I spent $50 on two burgers here… Our burgers were bland and sad looking. Would definitely avoid this place if you can. They do offer gluten free buns, however
Waited for a very long time for my food, and the Indian lady that works at the front (I didn’t get her name) asked me my name and what I ordered so I told her my name and that I ordered an impossible burger. She handed me my order a minute later and said “here is your impossible burger.” When I bit into it it was real meat. It wasn’t the cooks fault. It was someone else’s order and the lady at the front was mixing up everyone’s orders. I went back to tell them and they had my impossible burger just sitting on the counter. I paid $22 to bite into actual meat as a vegetarian of 15 years and then got served my actual order cold. Couldn’t even eat the fries because they were hard. Disgusting. She should be fired
Waited 30 minutes for a sad burger. Help was just standing around and the order filler put down a dirty rag and penned someone's burger to make sure it was correct but definitely touched the bun worth her gloves.
I am writing to express a serious concern regarding food safety at Custom Burger, located at JFK Airport. After eating at this establishment, both I and my travel companion became violently ill with symptoms of what appears to be severe food poisoning. We have now been sick for several days, suffering from gastrointestinal issues that strongly suggest the presence of harmful bacteria such as E. coli or similar pathogens. This was not a minor stomach upset — it has seriously affected our health and well-being. Given the severity of our symptoms and the timing relative to our visit to Custom Burger, we believe that the food served there may have been contaminated or improperly handled. This points to possible violations of food safety and sanitation standards. We strongly urge the New York City Department of Health and relevant airport food safety authorities to conduct a thorough inspection of this establishment. Immediate action is needed to ensure that no other travelers experience what we went through. For fellow travelers: we do not recommend eating at this location until proper health inspections have been completed and any sanitary issues have been resolved.
3% surcharge because jfk airport doesn’t want to pay their workers accordingly, so they offset the cost to the customer. Does it actually go to the workers? Doubtful with the level of service and food they serve. You might be thinking, “surely heating up some Tyson chicken strips and serving honey mustard/ranch is standard everywhere” but you’d be oh so wrong. This is hands down the worst heated up frozen chicken tenders I’ve ever eaten. Even the sauces are bad. I would rather eat the free Heinz ketchup packets. Everything about this was terrible and I am so incredibly surprised at this experience that I will remember this forever. Just eat at Starbucks.
The food isn’t as terrible as the reviews claim. The fries are reasonable and cold and not tasty 😱😱😱😱 I especially noticed how spoiled it was, like a corpse. It felt like I was eating a dead dog. A disgusting eatery, I don't recommend going there.
Jeez, I thought service in the deep south was slow. Food might have been better if I ate it before waiting an additional 15 minutes for my milkshake. Incredibly slow service. I chose CB Burger because there was no line. I figured I would get my food fast. NOPE. OVER 30 MINUTES TOTAL WAIT FOR BURGER, FRIES AND SHAKE. I figured out why the shake took so long. Dude was making my shake with one hand while talking in his phone. He was literally standing there talking on the phone in-between his many breaks of moving my milkshake container to different spots in the counter. Maybe this guy was challenged with the shake machine. It took him about 2 minutes to figure out how to put his glove on. I challenge CB Burger corporate look at the security footage on 10-11-24 at 2:34pm. Here is a pick of shake man grabbing on phone.
DO NOT EAT HERE. Worst burger and possibly the worst meal I've ever eaten in my entire life. I took one bite and decided to throw it away, and I NEVER throw away food. Ordered one without cheese for my wife, and it came with cheese. I'm pretty sure they just microwave frozen patties and stick them in cheap wholesale buns. When I went to get a refund for the incorrect order the lady begged me to just let her remake it, I said no. Then she handed me off to a different lady, who said "1 second, you said no cheese right?" And started remaking it! I said loudly to stop, I don't want another burger, I want a refund, then I got passed over to a third lady who passed me to a fourth lady who finally gave me a refund. Go to La Vie instead if you're super hungry and get their pizza, only decent place in this terminal. This place needs to be shut down. Also, close to $25 for a single burger! Robbery.

DO NOT EAT HERE. I’m not someone who leaves reviews on food but this was honestly a health hazard. I placed an order, waiting 21 minutes while others got their orders in front of me. True chaos: Names written on food bags were misspelled to the point that people were grabbing the wrong bags; a random older Black woman from another restaurant (?) started helping the workers in front but didn’t have gloves on and one of the cooks walked to another station and took out the trash, then returned to cooking (???); when a woman inquired about sesame because she had a serious allergy, two workers said they didn’t know if they used sesame (????). When I got my burgers, they were cold as were the fries— so why did it take 21 minutes? I also did not receive an order of fries with the meal, so went back to get an order of fries, which I was handed by that woman with NO GLOVES after waiting an additional 15 minutes. $4 for a fountain drink for both drink fountains to be inoperable. The kicker? We paid $43 for this food. I understand a bad day, but this seems to be a repeated issue per the below Google reviews with canned responses.
Horrendous. Not that anyone looks at the review before getting food at the airport, but you'll see how low the ratings are when you check after your first bite. The fries are GOD AWFUL, the burgers are cold, and Wendy's quality. Staff looks dirty.
Waited half an hour for garbage. Fries were blander than anything. Burger was mush and tasted bad. Better to eat nothing than to eat here. Complete waste of money. Do not go
Can confirm that every single one of these reviews are accurate. I waited 45 minutes for a milkshake, people left and right asking for refunds, getting the wrong food - and seeing as how many of these reviews are several months old, it’s clearly not just a “today thing.”
Slow. Cold. Poor quality burger. The gluten free buns are not even edible. Also they messed up our order and gave us an extra fry and missing a burger. Paid 50 bucks for 1 gluten free burger 2 fries and a milkshake. Avoid eating here
