Dill's Deli Redding Reviews
Excellent sandwich and BBQ spot! If you’re road-tripping between California and Oregon, Dill’s is right off the freeway, has excellent food, reasonable prices AND shares space with an ice cream shop!
I always ordered a pastrami, pepper jack cheese with mayonnaise on sweet bread. I have it hot. I ordered a large and share it with my husband. It is so yummy. Must try it!!!
I got this spot recommended to me from my hotel stay next over and it was absolutely great! I had the Chicken Caesar salad and it was very good and it was a very good portion for it’s price.
I ordered the 3 meat bbq plate from door dash for dinner, and let me tell you it was fantastic. It came with the bbq pulled pork, tri tip, and the ribs, all were seasoned great and very flavorful. We also ordered some of their macaroni and potato salad, and I will say it was definitely made from scratch and amazing. Overall they genuinely have amazing food and I will definitely be ordering from Dills Deli again, totally worth it
If I could give this place 10 stars... They deserve 11. This place is PHENOMENAL!!! Their sandwiches are filling. Their meat is juicy and flavorful. Their staff is helpful and welcoming. There's not a single thing wrong with this place.
No frills dine in but took ours to go. Possibly the best pulled pork sandwich I ever had. Delicious white sauce and probably a pound of moist, juicy pulled pork. And the BLT was excellent also, but that pulled pork I will never forget! Short walk from Comfort Inn in Redding. Strongly recommended. They also have a full BBQ dinner menu after 4 pm.
I found Dill's Deli during one of my regular drives from Northern California to Oregon, and fell in love immediately. I now stop by Dill's Deli every time I make the drive, a few times a year, and look forwards to their sandwiches as the best part of the drive. I've enjoyed all of the sandwiches I've ordered at Dill's Deli, but I usually go with a build your own sandwich, with their turkey, provolone cheese and veggies on their jalapeño focaccia bread. The sandwiches always include a generous portion of meat, and their turkey is super flavorful and tender. Their jalapeño focaccia is also a star for me, although I've also enjoyed their dutch crunch and wheat rolls. My partner gets their salads and is super impressed by how loaded the salads are with meat and the other toppings. We both love eating here and look forward to it as a nice break from the drive. Highly recommend eating here if you're in the area or passing through!
First time ordering here and I'm very happy. The wife loved the pulled Pulled Pork sandwich. It had plenty of chunky meat with no gristle or grease. They also honored her special request for a different sauce and no cheese. My full rack of St. Louis Pork Ribs tasted great, but weren't quite tender enough, but that worked for me since they were for several meals. I wrapped more up in foil the next day at 350 for an hour and they were perfect and also hot again. Still a strong 5 stars. I got multiple sides, but the cole slaw was the best. Amazing Cole slaw is no easy feat. Cookies were worth it too.
So...Not being from the area I had to ask around for the best Delicatessen, and I got a bunch of weirdo answers from even weirdo hipster characters that think it would be cool if the USA was under the control of Vegans! I dismissed their answers, but 1 name kept popping up...Dill's Deli. Well, I took that as a devine sign and went there Lickity Split! And, you know what...Those people were right, my sandos from Dill's Deli were Amazing! 5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆
If you’re looking for a top-notch deli experience in Redding, Dill’s Deli is the place. Their flavorful sandwiches, mouthwatering BBQ, coleslaw and sides are excellent. The Pig Vicious sandwich on jalapeño focaccia is an absolute must-try—packed with bold flavors and perfectly balanced heat. My favorite is the Poppin Pork sandwich. The portions are generous, and the service is friendly and efficient, even when they’re busy. The atmosphere is casual yet welcoming, making it a great spot for a quick bite or a leisurely lunch. Highly recommend!
+ One of the few good places to dine in the neighborhood + They serve beer and wine + Self-serve fountain drinks and coffee + Sandwiches and bbq + They ran out of pork ribs when we came, so we tried the chicken and brisket. The chicken was great but the brisket was dry. + Great sides to choose from -- we enjoyed the pasta salad, beans, and slaw + Large dining hall with plenty of seating + Fast casual dining experience --- Order/pay first, find table, wait for food + Decent prices for portion size + The ambiance is very odd. It feels like a school cafeteria. + Service is friendly and food came out fast + Easy parking with plenty of spaces
The food was super good I had the dirty pig sandwich, however the lady that took my order was obviously sick. She was coughing while taking my order and my coworkers. The food was good tho just don't let people work if there sick
Was recommended to here for breakfast after dropping our motorhome off for repairs. The guts said you gotta have their biscuits and gravy! This place is pretty cute, lots of seating and even an ice cream parlor in back, it was closed but looked nice. The employees were really nice too. My hubs and I each got a full order or B&G which is 2 biscuits split open with gravy and we shared a sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. It was tasty but everything was just microwaved or put in the toaster. I just dont care for microwaved biscuits or sausage. It looks like they have got a good sandwich menu. So I'll have to come back and try one, I bet those are better than the breakfast, but it was still good and I'd eat here again! Oh they have a good looking bbq so I really want to try some of that one my next visit
Been meaning to make a review for this place but unfortunately every time I get my food I dive Right in and forget until today. I made it halfway through. Didn't realize I need to do a review. If anything, there's the first part of the review. The food's always fresh. A little pricey and service is not too bad as well. That atmosphere is not bad as well pretty clean, but that food is delicious. Better than a lot of places in this general area for food when it comes to sandwich making. If you're in the area, give it a shot. Support your local business. Now I'm going back to my food.
My husband and I decided to come here to pick up dinner on the way home. He got the Dave Tappen while I got the pulled pork sandwich. He loved the Dave Tappen - delicious flavor but it was the jalapeño focaccia that sealed the deal. He ate it all up! My sandwich was just as good too; the pulled pork was tender, the sauce added so many depths of flavor, and the sourdough roll was crunchy. It was perfection. I got it specifically with no cheese but added pickles. I’m sure it’s good with the cheese! Unfortunately, I’m knocking down the review because of the service. It was a bit shocking because reviews here praise the service. When we walked in, we were not greeted warmly by whoever worked the front. He had a major attitude and made us feel like we were an inconvenience to him. It felt really awkward and…off. He never greeted us, got annoyed with us, and just didn’t make us feel welcome. I was indecisive and was debating on which sandwich to get, and he probably didn’t like that. So I randomly chose on a whim to get out of there quicker. As we were waiting for our order, I did hear him and other employees have attitudes. I chalked it up to maybe he had a bad night? Maybe something else happened he couldn’t shake off? I mean, it was around 6:30 when we arrived so it’s not like we showed up when they were closing. But, I was raised to treat others with kindness so I didn’t match the energy and was respectful. However, the attitude and coldness was enough for us to feel like we’ll probably not be back. I still highly recommend the food and to always support local!
I decided to bring my date from a another town to come here to eat, because I had food at this establishment in the past and recommended here before. The team members were being polite, and the customer service was good...What annoyed me is my date marked down every thing she wanted on her sandwich. When we got her sandwich,it had peppers besides pickles. Her mouth was burning. I had to asked for a remake. Then when she get the remake, the ingredients she asked for was good, but the bread was crumbling. She was unsatisfied and didn't wanna eat it.My food was good...But the dine in was about close to 50 bucks for 2 6inch sandwiches and chips and a cookie and additional items on one of the sandwiches, and two sandwiches that wasn't good for my date.
The main issue is their ordering system. Our family used to come here for amazing sandwiches about once a week. Now the online order system rejects the order or gives an error message at the end. You can’t call in to order anymore either. If you go in person, you stand in line for 40+ minutes. At this point, we have given up on them, which is a shame because small businesses need support. For such a good sandwich shop, you can afford to hire someone to take orders on the phone and have a properly working online system. Please fix this.
I was doing a road trip and looking for a place to eat. Many friends and family have raved about this place and how amazing it is. I have a gluten allergy. There is no gluten free options. No problem. I got a BBQ plate instead. I ordered the 2 meat entree. I chose chicken and tri tip. They only gave me tri tip and it was NASTY. It was as cold, dry and appeared it had been sitting out. The staff was not pleasant. That is why I didn’t bother saying anything. It was very expensive too. Go somewhere else. Also, they run out of stuff too. They ran out of tri tip. 😳
