What Customers Say About Midnight Oil
Midnight Oil is a popular coffee shop on the RIT campus, known for its Starbucks-like menu and friendly staff. It's a great spot for studying and meetings, especially with the fireplace in winter. Some find the breakfast sandwiches bland and note inconsistencies in drink preparation.

Midnight Oil Rochester Reviews
I loved this place. I worked here as well in 2015-16 as a student. RIT dinning Staff is amazing and helpful. Food is awesome! I will re visit it someday!
I was feeling nostalgic so I thought I'd write a review. This place was my favorite back in college. Always got a black coffee and a chocolate chip scone to fuel study sessions. Keep rockin' Midnight Oil!
Midnight Oil is a part of the "We Proudly Serve Starbucks Coffee" Programme, and as such, almost the entirety of the Starbucks menu can be found here. They work fairly quickly and get orders accurate
It's your typical Starbucks type of place. It's pretty jammed during breakfast hours (lines typically go outside into Crossroads), but other than that it's clean and the staffs are very friendly.
10/10 would recommend! Best place to get coffee on campus, and the people are so nice. There isn’t much to hate here.
Great place, they keep the line moving as best they can during busy times but usually only 1-2 minute wait. Never had any complaints about my drinks
It's a Starbucks but better. They have more local specials then an average Starbucks and staff and managers are always super sweet!
Great place to meet a friend or colleague. They are not a Starbucks, but they brew Starbucks coffee. Excellent donuts and bagels too. Haven't tried the breakfast sandwiches but they seem to be quite popular. Convenient to the west side of the RIT campus.
Good coffee and ambience for a college cafe. The fire in the winter is pleasant, but year round this is a great spot for working or taking a break.
Fantastic coffee shop. I get my caffeine fix here almost every day. For those regulars, ask for their punch cards to get your 10th coffee free :] Midnight Oil is a really nice place for your 1:1 meetings away from the bustle.
I got coffee and a bagel. There is sometimes a line but it moves pretty quickly. Good sweets. Breakfast sandwiches are bland. Good coffee.
Good ambience, variety of global food, lot of place for students, their parents and faculty to sit and interact. Hot food available during cold weather. Nice place to hangout within RIT campus
it's a nice place to gather and study. In winter you will be able to enjoy of the fireplace. :) Try the caramel macchiato or just a latte and the amazing muffins.
Used to be my favorite breakfast on campus but the quality of the food has really plummeted over the past year or two. Also the layout changes recently make it feel a lot less like a cozy nook and more like a waiting area for mobile orders.
I prefer Java's but sometimes give Midnight Oil a chance. The coffee isn't bad but there is a huge gap in customer service and quality between Java's and Midnight Oil. If you run out of ice coffee midpour then don't serve it to me at full price. The level of apathy in the people behind was amazingly bad. I want to like this place but have had 3 bad experiences out of the last 4 times I was there.
Got the breakfast burrito from there and it was bland. the cinnamon roll was decent and the muffins are alright too. Not a coffee person so I can't give an opinion on that. Nice little place otherwise if you need coffee from the looks of it
Came here for brunch on parent weekend 2023. They don't accept cash, which is legal tender. Also, flies everywhere, put cream in my coffee and flies literally flew off the containers. Go someplace else, Dunkin would be a better choice.
My experience at midnight oil was quite unpleasant. Whoever is in charge of picking the ice to go in the drinks should be fired. The ice in the coffee is made up of tiny little pebbles that melt and completely water down your drink in just a few minutes. Other than that the coffee is pretty bitter. The employees are hit or miss some were polite and friendly while others were rude and completely incompetent. In the future I’m going to bring my bring my business to Beanz or a different rit cafe.
Rip OFF! Caffe Mocha Grande is 4.15. I ordered it with coconut milk INSTEAD of dairy.. NO extra charges were mentioned. I was meeting with people there and wasn't given a receipt. Later i noticed tgat the charge came out as 5.45. Is it for Replacing dairy with coconut milk? Shouldn't they at least deduct the dairy I'm not getting? Coconut milk "replacement" costs more than 1 dollar?! Also.. How come you guys charge me DIFFERENTLY for the same freakin order that I had before?!!
