Connolly's Bar Rockaway Beach Reviews
Came down to the neighborhood by myself to check it out solo to try that Pina colada slushie and didn't even realize it was the last night of the season. Im from rural Ontario and this spot felt like a mix between a small town dive bar and a beach bar! From the beginning felt welcomed in the establishment, bouncer is a good guy. Then the bartenders were both great and from what I can tell they remember their regulars which is how a neighborhood bar should be and they do it right. Good, pretty diverse crowd that the place attracts and I talked to some awesome people and hopefully will be back for reopening next year! Cheers to another season you guys are doing it right!
They have the best Pin̈a Coladas in the land. The music outside is always great! The crowd is of all ages and truly friendly. I've never had a bad time at Connolly's Bar in Rockaway since I walked in there one summer afternoon, many, many, years ago to get ice because I stepped on a bee and got stung! Proved their Pin̈a Coladas work in mysterious ways! ❤️🥤🌞🥤❤️ I always get 2 with 1 shot, because, "its my little secret ritual." The 3rd is for a friend, now she gets my system. Enjoy it while they're open! CHEERS!❤️🥤🌞❤️
Quintessential dive bar half a block from the Rockaway beach! Famed for their Frozen Piña Coladas and rightly so; perfect after a day at the beach! They feature a spiced Castillo rum floater, but the pro move is a Myer’s Dark floater for the same $; nothing better than dark rum in a Piña Colada for my money.
Freshly pulled frozen piña colada to go – excellent. Friendly/polite bartender as well.
There’s something about the salty air, sun-kissed skin, and sandy feet that makes a Connelly’s piña colada hit just right. Creamy, icy, and deceptively strong - especially with the rum floater (a must)—it might just be the best piña colada I’ve ever had. Pro tip: save the maraschino cherry for the end. Trust me. Downstairs feels like a time-warped beach basement, dark and a little dank in the best way. But there’s also a patio bar if you want to soak up more sun. Either way, you lose track of time. You didn’t really do Rockaway if you didn’t end up at Connelly’s.
Great frozen daiquiri and atmosphere. Eclectic crowd. Old school neighborhood bar.
Great place to hang after the beach MUST try the frozen pink lemonade and frozen pina colada don't forget the floater lol
Stumbled upon this lovely pub on a trip to the beach. Barman was so hospitable and chatty making us feel welcome. The ice Pina Colada was great as was the selection of beers. Will be back next time we visit NYC
Favorite beach piña colada. Don’t skip the floater! Open all summer and for special occasions through out year
Loved this laid back bar. This is a neighborhood bar but they are very welcoming to outsiders. The outside is really inviting. It's in what appears to be a house. The inside is a good size. The bartender, Meg, was very nice. The prices are wonderful. They are famous for their Piña Colada. It's also close to the beach. I will definitely be back.
Yummy pina colada. Just like college spring break...refreshing, delightful and fun. There is a Pink Lemonade vodka slushie available too! Service was friendly and attentive, large bar with plenty of space and seems to be a local scene. I might need to stay next time for a full experience but the beach down the block was calling! Love the convenient location. We'll be back!
No food, but plenty of events, and good drinks. It's one of the local bars in what I like to call the "uptown" Rockaway community. As such, once you get to know people it gets nice. But if you're riding solo, you may feel a bit left out. However, if you're social, chill, cool, love music as well as know a thing or two about surfing you can find your way to some wonderful people. Don't be afraid to spend some time inside and/or the outside region. And one of the coolest things is that within a 2 min walk, you can reach the beach and a concession stand that often has more great music and a great variety of food options. I'm not much of a social person so I have rated this based on my personal biases however, it is a pretty cool place to go where lots of the Rockaway community love to hang out and convene. Peace y'all!
Very nice outdoor space, where you can listen to live music and smell the ocean. Predominantly white and friendly crowd. I don't know if the bar has food, but there was a guy in a lot with a grill a couple doors down who was selling burgers the night we went. I got one, and it was good.
Still open for takeout during Covid summer 2020, and I’m grateful. Simple, straightforward menu (beer, $2 hot dogs, and $8 piña coladas), and super fast service. Note that it’s cash only! The piña coladas are really small but totally worth it on a hot beach day for $8, and extra shots of rum are $1. No outdoor seating or congregating outside, so grab a dog and a drink to go and take it to the beach.
