Anchors Fish and Chips Roseville Reviews
Came in for dinner on a Tuesday, the service was friendly, no wait for a table, very clean and family friendly. I ordered a 9 peice to share with family, the fish was delicious! I will definitely be coming back!
They're food is always so good and it tastes fresh! Portions are perfect. And their cocktail sauce is so delicious, it tastes home made. Coleslaw also very good.
I've been eating here for many years and the fish is excellent,... better than I've had anywhere else. Every bite is crunchy and crispy. I love mine with a little salt and malt vinegar, and the aroma of the food is absolutely heavenly!
I finally tried their classic fish and chips after driving by for years and wondering if it was good. Absolutely delicious! Perfectly fried, light, crisp batter. Not greasy at all. The seating area was very clean. I will come here again. The only thing is I would just get one piece of fish with the chips. The portions are very generous!
If you are reading this, Stop!!! Just come thru. I ordered the 2 piece fish and chips and it was awesome. Not too oily. The fish to batter proportion is perfect. I’m not much of a fries (chips) guy. The restaurant is clean and the service was great. I got more than what I paid for. It’s just off the freeway. It was worth the drive from South Sacramento. Come thru…I almost forgot, they have beer on tap.
This is one of the best dedicated fish and chip restaurants I know! There aren't many dedicated fish and chip places anymore in a lot of areas, but we're lucky to have this place and a few other in the Roseville area. The fish is pollock I think and is fried to order, no ready made under a heat lamp stuff here. Crispy and nice as are the fries.
Our fish and chips are very good. The fish was cut into large thin fillets. All the food was fresh and hot. At first, we did not feel welcome here. , because the server at the front counter told us that since it was just over a 1/2 an hour until close,. We could only get food to go. We wanted to eat the food there so we left. Then, the employee chased us out in the parking lot and asked us to stay. We are glad that we stayed, because the food was very good.
They have quite a few options on the menu fish and chips...calamari...chicken strips...clams...scallops... We got fish and chips and a side of calamari. The fish was fresh and crispy. Did not taste fishy. The fish was tender and flakey. The fries were hot and crispy. They give you bottles of catsup...tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. They were very good. The calamari was good...they do not give you very much for 6.99. I dont think I will order that again... I would order The fish and chips again.
Always a solid choice for consistent fish & chips in the Roseville area. My dad and I generally split the 3 piece fish & chips and get a side order of the clam strips. Both their cocktail and tartar sauces are awesome as well. This time, we added an order of the asparagus, which was also good. Before Anchors, it was a killer sub sandwich shop, and before that, it was Taco Charlie. I've been eating food in this building in one way or another for over 40 years. 🤣 Added a couple updated pics of the menu board for reference.
Had the one piece fish and chips and though the chips were nothing to rave about the fish was hot, crispy, crunchy and tasty. Not only that but my one piece order came with a bonus smaller piece and the other two people in my party who ordered two pieces of fish received 3 in their orders! I would have given 5 stars but the place was obviously an old Taco Bell, so very much lacking in ambiance. I will definitely go back as I want to try several other things on their menu including the cole slaw and deep fried zucchini. Price wise, I would say you get a lot for your money!
It wasn't as good as we'd hoped. The frys were the best part of the meal. The chicken strips were ok. However, the oysters were overcooked, and the fish lacked flavor. The vegetable combo needed a few more vegetables. The ranch dressing wasn't great. I know it's tough being a small business. With just a little effort, this could be a great place. But it misses the mark. Lemon slices, ketchup in a small sauce cup, vinegar in a bottle on the table would also help.
The 3 piece was 15 bucks. The fish was fresh, crispy, and nicely seasoned however the fillets were very thin. About a quarter inch thick and not a single bite being a half inch. Fries were hot and crispy but unsalted. The tarter sauce was delicious and the cocktail sauce was not but don't ask for both because it will immediately become an issue about $.75 or 1.50. Food and portions were good but the feeling of getting nickled and dimed was overwhelming. This lady would charge to refill a water cup if she could.
The food was tasty but I had to pay for condiments such as catchup and tartar sauce and they were way overpriced. The tables inside are metal benches with attached metal chairs. Very uncomfortable and definitely not handicapped friendly.
Arrived on Friday evening 6:50pm, walked in. Patiently waited at counter to order as the gentleman walked trays of food to tables, when he approaches the cash register he said sorry we are closed I was surprised. Walked outside and the “OPEN” sign was on and stated they close at 7pm Strange to close a fish and chips place at 7pm on friday imo but stranger to deny service outright while your serving orders to tables and it is still 10 till 7 Unprofessional and rude to see me standing there waiting and not share your not taking orders
