We got sushi and sashimi for three for five of us, and we were so full. Please come early because they pack pretty quickly.

This is my favorite Japanese restaurant near my home, and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been here. It’s always bustling with customers — a clear sign of how much people love this place. The servers are warm and friendly, and the dishes are fresh and delicious. Though it’s tucked away in an unremarkable corner, its popularity proves that good things never go unnoticed — guests just keep coming.

Went for a dinner to catch up a friend and was very impressed with the selection and quality of the food provided here. I recommend any role served “roslyn” style and any specialty roll. Definitely coming back again!

“Sushi left me... wanting more 🍣” Dropped by Kotobuki in Roslyn and was not disappointed. The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated—crispy on the outside, creamy avocado on top, and just the right drizzle of sauce. The textures really hit that perfect balance. I went with one of their specialty rolls (as seen in the photo) and it was a bite-sized umami bomb. The vibe was cozy and casual, and the service was friendly without being overbearing. Minor drawback? The portions lean a little on the delicate side, so if you're hungry-hungry, be prepared to order a few rounds. But overall, this place left a lasting impression—and a little hole in my heart when the last roll disappeared.

Ever since 2021, I have been coming to Kotobuki Roslyn. Look - sometimes, when in the city, I’ll go to their Manhattan location - but it just isn’t the same! For starters, Kane works in Roslyn. If you ever have the pleasure of having him be your waiter, make sure to give him a big hello - he is the best. But so is the rest of the staff. When you go to Kotobuki, they treat you like family. There are so many great sushi options in the neighborhood. However, none of them compare to Kotobuki. It feels like home. The food is the best not just of any sushi restaurant nearby - it’s the best of any RESTAURANT nearby. Period! The crispy rice and spicy tuna has to be a bite of heaven, but I know the many vegetarians I have gone with have dreams about the Tofu Steak. Whether Beef Negimaki or Sushi Dinner is more your speed, wash it down with a Lychee Martini and take in the ambiance! I couldn’t recommend it enough. If you haven’t been already, make your way over NOW!!!

We visited Kotobuki for a company dinner, and it was a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. The ambiance was welcoming yet sophisticated, perfect for both casual gatherings and professional settings. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the sashimi and sushi platter. The fish was incredibly fresh and melted in our mouths. Each piece was artfully presented, showcasing the chefs' attention to detail. The rolls were also impressive—creative combinations with just the right amount of rice and fillings. Service was top-notch. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure our group of colleagues felt comfortable throughout the evening.

I had a wonderful experience lunching with two friends at Kotobuki in Roslyn, NY. We ordered salmon teriyaki, tendon (shrimp and vegetable tempura) and beef negimaki. Each entree came with a bowl of soup and salad. The food was excellent, with authentic Japanese flavors that left me craving for more. The short wait time was impressive, and the attentive waiter service added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. I truly appreciate the effort put into creating such a memorable experience. I highly recommend this place.

I went with a group of four people. I've heard the wait times here can take a while so we went a bit earlier and we did not have such a long wait time. We started with the tuna pizza, crispy rice spicy tuna and the Kmac sliders. All of the apps were extremely delicious. We ordered a few different rolls as well. They were all pretty good. Nothing was wow but everything was above average. I would dine again.

Solid sushi spot for lunch, not super crowded. I had the sushi lunch special both the sushi and the salmon rolls were excellent. I am not a fan of California rolls so I was happy when the allowed me to substitute free of charge. The fish was fresh and you tell it was good quality sushi. Will be coming back!

Love love love! New favorite sushi place near me. The fried oysters are amazing! The sushi and sashimi for three were too filling for the three of us. Staff is always nice!

I am very impressed by the quality and varieties in this special place. Unique interior architecture and most importantly excellent customer service provided by King Sang. Will come back again. Revisit this place again after one year plus. This place maintain the food qualities and we really enjoy the great customer experience.

Love Kotobuki! Their sushi is always fresh and the menu does not disappoint. There's something for everyone. Raw, cooked, ramen or Udon, rice plates and small bites. Always a fun time here. Their outdoor dining is open most year round and it's done right. Heat lamps for the colder days and tented. The summer, it's open and comfortable. Favorite dish, Sashimi entree and the crunchy rice. My kiddos love the ramen and any sushi.

Kotobuki Roslyn has the kind of peaceful, relaxed vibe that makes you feel like you’re dining in your own cozy backyard—only better, because you’re being served fresh, high-quality food you are enjoy. The outdoor seating is quiet, perfect for unwinding. The service is friendly and attentive without ever feeling pushy. The sushi is always fresh, flavorful, and consistently excellent. This has become one of my go-to spots when I want a calm, satisfying meal without the hassle. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great sushi in a laid-back setting.

Nice spot, nice ambiance, music was appropriate. Nonetheless, the restaurant temperature was a little too cold, and my wife and I felt it. Friendly staff, and although it is a busy spot, it doesn't feel like crowed or tight. Extra points because of the patience of the waiters to the point that you don't even feel pressure or rushed. Food could have been a little better and warmer on the cooked rolls. Seafood was tasty and fresh. Will definitely check it out again.

Okay so this places ambience is really cute and it's good for like a quick last minute dinner. The sashimi we got was super fresh. The sushi pizza was too like Americanized for me i thought it would be more like Tokus sushi pizza but it's kind of a random mix of imitation crab, some other fish on this chewy rice bed. Moreover Personally, i HATE the fact there are no reservations. I came in here once trying to get dinner and it was a mad house, there was a line out the door, phones ringing off the hook, three DoorDash drivers standing by the desk waiting for a hostess. The hostesses were running around. It just doesn't seem efficient for a place that is so popular. Overall 3.5/5

I’ve been coming to Kotobuki since 2003, but this was my first visit to the Roslyn location. Unfortunately, the Tempura Ice Cream was a major disappointment. I ordered the Red Bean Ice Cream Tempura, and it was stale and cold—not freshly fried. In the past, they would flash-fry the ice cream immediately before serving, making the tempura batter hot and crispy. It seems like they now pre-fry the ice cream and freeze it, which results in a stale, lackluster cold texture. Just look at the photos of the ice cream. It TASTED like it had been fried weeks ago. Pros: • The Fried Oysters were great. • The Sushi for Two was fresh. Cons: • This location doesn’t offer Ginger Ice Cream Tempura. • The Tempura Ice Cream quality was disappointing compared to what I’ve experienced at their Deer Park location in the past.

Pretty disappointing overall. The shrimp teriyaki was way too sweet, and we were told it had MSG in it. The sushi rice was mixed with sugar, which made everything taste off — honestly some of the worst sushi we’ve had. Service wasn’t great either; our server seemed unfriendly and barely checked on us. Water and tea only came when we asked, and the check was dropped off before we even asked for it. Definitely not a place we’d go back to.

The last time for me. A total waste of money. Food was horrible. I have never given any business a bad review. The food was ordered from the UBER eats App. The sashimi deluxe was the worst I’ve ever had in my entire life. 50 years of having Japanese food. Inedible dreck. Dry, small, tasteless, off in color. Thrown in the box. Are you kidding me? You can check every review I’ve ever made almost 200 reviews and this is the only bad review I’ve made in 10 years.

Bad experience and lack of customer service. This place is very good for so long time with a good food and ambience until yesterday. We're having family dinner at first everything run smoothly thanks to our server that doing the job very good, tasty food as always, and then the moment of dissapointment came. We're try to ask something or even get attention to other server on the floor, they were busy chatting even play with phone on the front cashier, laughing in the corner doing nothing. Even asking for more water, said yes and never coming back. I don't know what's happening while our server and some other servers handle multiple tables. We feel very bad to our server had to take care multiple table while still making sure that us is taking care of. To the management of this restaurant, you guys need to train your employee of customer services knowledge or even hire people that really wanna work and dedicate themselves to their job. Maybe because the tip wasn't shared for the whole shift or the server only get tip for their own section. It's just ridiculous for us to experience this kind of experience

Updated: on Sept 13,2025 visited restaurant again because the last time I enjoyed dining at restaurant. To my surprise it was the worse experience I had. I invited a number of friends and my son to eat because the last time really enjoyed with our server Hanna. When we arrived and sat down, the waiter took our order and server named Hong L, demeanor was very rude during our eating, that my guests were very upset. We had order drinks and it took over 10 minutes because he was attending another customer at another table who came after us. We order appetizers prior to the other customers who came after us too, and they came late as well too. I even asked for extra napkins and he never brought over, the petite young lady from the register brought for us the napkins as we were eating right away. Server, Hong L was not friendly or tentative at all and never bothered to come over to see if we needed anything. Another issue was the food we order were not the greatest or tasteful. The drinks order were ok , which my guests enjoyed. The beef negimaki appetizer was a little dried and not tasty. The worse part of this server was that he put two separate orders on same plate, 2 Red Dragon. My guest had the plate and was eating thinking it was his order. I waited like 5 minutes and questioned server who said it was served, I said I didn’t received and he said it was on my guest plate. I said in whose right mind would do this and what was more disturbing, he took my guess plate and separated and put the other portion on another plate for me to eat. This type of behavior is uncalled for and this sever should not be working there. In the end he just dropped the bill which I paid over $238 on the table like throwing us out and never asking if we needed anything else or say thank you. When I gave him cash tip he not even say thank you. As a business owner and someone who is a foodie, I would not have him working. This type of behavior is uncalled for in any business. I been to this restaurant many times as well and enjoyed their hospitality and caring by their servers. That is why I changed the rating. (see pictures below I added for the above date) Updated: On Feb 2, 2025 visited restaurant and to my surprise the food and service was outstanding. The server Hanna was very attentive and professional and friendly. She made sure that all was great and if we needed anything not to hesitate to ask. We had a number dishes like Sushi deluxe sp salmon roll, yellowtail jalapeño, nabeyaki udon and other dishes. The food was fresh as well. My son and I went for dinner. Ask for Hanna , she is very attentive, friendly and caring for her customers to be satisfied while eating. Thank you Hanna! You made our dinner a pleasure to visit this restaurant. As someone who travels a lot and enjoys trying different ethnic foods and reviewing the food and services to let other customers know how the food and its service is. Approx 2 years ago ,I was not impressed at all about the food. I gave 4 stars because of the service and friendliness. It was very crowed too maybe because of the weekend.
