Chicha Sacramento Reviews
My wife and I arrived around 10:00 p.m. on a Saturday night and were immediately welcomed with leis, which set the tone right away. It instantly felt like a tropical escape rather than a local bar. The crowd was a great mix of all ages. We’re in our mid-40s and felt completely comfortable. The layout is well thought out, with several smaller carved-out areas that are perfect for groups of six to eight, making it easy to relax and enjoy the space. There was even an artist walking around offering to draw caricatures, which added a unique and fun touch to the night. The skewers were amazing and full of flavor, and the cocktails were expertly crafted, well balanced, and beautifully presented. Surrounded by lush tropical plants and flowers, the atmosphere is immersive and fun. Overall, Shipwrecked Paradise Island Tiki Bar delivers a fantastic experience. We’ll definitely be back. 🌴🍹
We’re tiki enthusiasts and on our first trip to Shipwreck in downtown Sac when they first opened had a lot to be desired. We went again last night (January 2026) and was surprised how they stepped there game up! The drinks were way better than our first time around and the presentation of the drinks were much better! Especially the rum old fashioned that they smoked in front of us and the Zombie Jet Pilot that they dropped 151 into the straws at our table. This presentation was much more on par with SF tiki bars. The food was also great too! Highly recommend and will be going back more often!
This place is absolute incredible. The vibe and decor is some of the best I've been around. Drinks were great and the staff was super tentative and friendly.... especially Natalie You have to check it out. I'll be stopping back in Everytime I'm in town for sure.
Great emersive atmosphere.. Natalie was a wonderful bartender, she made the best Infinity martini - try the French Oak blend!! Food was perfect. Potstickers and Salmon dishes were on point!
Skirt Steak skewers in Demerara sugar glaze and Crispy pot stickers came fast and were very satisfying. The Navy Grog rum cocktail was excellent! Large rum selection. The three rum drinks that I had were well balanced, and I could taste the nuances of the rum they used. Bartenders were helpful but busy. (I'll be coming back on a Wednesday or Sunday at opening when it should be less busy!)
Shipwreck had amazing service, outstanding bartenders that work here especially the outside area cocktail server Dania. She was great at checking up and making sure we were well attended.
Really loved this bar and the whole theme of it. The 2 drinks my husband and I had were really good too. Definitely would go again. The staff was really welcoming too.
I went on Sunday night and tried their buy 6, get 6 free oyster deal—it was a great deal! The oysters were fresh and clean, and the house sauce had a nice sweet and tangy balance. I also got the Demerara Steak Skewers, recommended by the bartender, and they were delicious, tender and well-marinated. For drinks I tried the Painkiller, Tropical Margarita, and Ube Espresso Martini. all were amazing! I’ll be back to try more. The decor was fantastic and all the staffs was super friendly. Usually you order at the bar but they still checked on tables when they could, which made the experience even better!
Came here with my buddy for a quick drink. Ended up staying for the funny bartender and great drinks. Amazing service and ambience. Shrimp skewers were a hit
It's a WHOLE VIBE!!! You're meet with dark and moody while in the midst of jungle wildlife! The drinks are A+++ and the food matches as well... ALL of the staff are AMAZING and ATTENTIVE! It fills up rather quickly, but it's still fun! DEFINITELY coming back!!
The Real Deal is the Shipwrecked Paradise Island which delivers on a topical paradise and delicious cocktails! Let’s kick this one off with service which had a fun crew all dressed for the topical theme with amazing personalities! The interaction with staff and manager was top shelf! The atmosphere is a show stopper, the decor is out this world and very real looking like no expense was shared in the inside or outside. The pictures detail paintings with pop outs that are definitely a must see. The snake sculptures throughout the ceilings is very well-done I can imagine the cost must of been out of this world! Now onto the drinks. Started off sampling a Green Tea Shooter which was really good 9.5/10 really tasty. Then tried out a Pineapple Mojito which was not the best unlike the Tiki themed drinks 4/10 needs improvement. Then had this other drink I don’t see it on menu I ask for an amazing pineapple drink without ice cream and they made this pineapple drink with tequila that was amazing 9/10. Overall this is a must try for drinks! Unfortunately I did not get to sample the food but I will back soon and try it all!!! Cheers!!
I’m so glad my friend recommended this restaurant because not only was it my first time having Peruvian food but this was absolutely delicious. The inside of this restaurant is very beautiful and spacious, the staff were very nice and welcoming, and our dinner was great. I ordered the ceviche Máncora and the Maracuyá and was in love. The ceviche was perfectly balanced between the fish, the limey spicy juice, and the sweet potato and corn. The Maracuyá was so good, fruity and sweet. This was an incredible meal, and my friend’s as well. They got fettuccine primavera, pollo saltado, and pan con chicharron. For drinks they got Inca kola, chicha morada, and a cocktail (the name escapes me). Everything was great and we were all so satisfied with our choices. I will absolutely be back again, wish it was slightly less expensive. So good!
Ive eaten here twice now and it truly is a hidden gem! I had bistec a lo pobre and the steak was very juicy and delicious. staff is very attentive and friendly as well. It was crazy expensive either which is awesome for their portion sizes!
I truly enjoyed our experience here everything we ordered was delicious, but our server, Jesus, made the evening even better. He was incredibly attentive and gave us excellent recommendations. We ordered the papá ala huancaina, yuca frita, plátanos, Lomo Saltado, Pollo Saltado, chicha salad, and another dish I can’t remember the name of (basically a fried rice plate). Honestly, that fried rice ended up being my favorite. I didn’t even get a picture because I was too busy enjoying it! We’ll definitely be returning. Thank you, Jesus, for the outstanding service
Liam, our server was extremely attentive and a great host. Felt like we were right at home! Drinks and food were perfect. Excited to come back next time to, Jesus let us know they will be adding some new dishes to the menu! We will definitely back!
Excellent Christmas meal!! We ordered so many different dishes: ceviche, appetizer and stew samplers. All were fabulous. The three ceviches were distinct and ample servings. The 3 stews were enough for three people to share. Plus we had the pork belly appetizer, and two main dishes: mahi mahi and pescado a lo macho. It was a great idea to have beer flights with this. I wish they had at least one dark beer selection. You can also order mimosa flights, but we didn’t try that. Flan was perfect, just lightly sweet and not overwhelming. Our server was so patient and definitely provided a memorable night. He explained everything so well and kept us happy. Nice atmosphere. Hope we can return.
Had such a great experience at Chicha! The ambiance was amazing warm and inviting. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented… you can really taste the care and authenticity in every dish. Our waitress was so kind and attentive, making the experience even better and gave me dish recommendations. Everything from start to finish felt thoughtful and well done!!!! I’d definitely come back again highly recommend for anyone looking to try great Peruvian food !
I recently tried Chicha, a Peruvian restaurant in Sacramento, and it was a great experience! We ordered a spread that included the Chicha Platter, Ceviche Platter, Seafood Paella, Pescado a la Macho and their special for the day. Each dish was bursting with flavor, and the quality was top-notch. The Pescado a la Macho was a standout favorite, with its rich, savory sauce perfectly complementing the tender fish. Omg soooo good!! The service was grear, with friendly and attentive staff ensuring our dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish.
I can't believe I didn't know we had a Peruvian place in Sac!!!! I'm SO glad I found it tho, the servers are super nice, the place is really pretty and clean and the food is really good. I came for lunch and came back for dinner. Had the Beef Heart and ceviche and for dinner the NY steak. Everything was great, Jesus and Damiano provided excellent service, both very attentive and fun, thank you!!! The Alfajores are absolutely delicious, they come with vanilla ice cream, I don't typically care for it but this one is really good, really tastes like real vanilla, and I just wish I could get a dozen Alfajores in one serving 😁
Cool spot love the atmosphere kind of Disneyland jungle cruise like. Bartenders were friendly … Very limited menu on the food mostly sushi like. Specialty drink menu was OK but expensive. Street parking only.
The Ambiance and the drinks were right on, but the menu was lacking of choices. The staff was friendly and the outdoor patio was cool. There fries and special sauce was 🔥 . I definitely will return.
This place has a really cool vibe and gives a great experience! When you walk in, they check your ID and they “Lei” you with flowers. I was given the choice of the patio or inside, we chose inside. Although the patio is still pretty much indoors too. The decor speaks for itself! Everyone who walks in says “wow!” Because seriously its sensory overload, in a good way lol We only had drinks, the Zombie Jet Pilot which is their strongest drink! And tasted strong lol they do a drops of 151 proof. And the Mexican Jungle Bird, very sweet but easily chuggable lol
Shipwrecked was a fun tropical bar with a variety of well made and potent drinks. The atmosphere is very much tropical island with a lot of eclectic decor thrown in. The service is fine. The menu is quite limited and really only there to provide something to snack on while you drink.
Great spot for a drink and some food. Great atmosphere. The did do a Xmas pop up this year. Very fun place.
We decided to stop by this bar for drinks since we were in the area, and I was immediately captivated by its unique theme and beautiful decor upon entering. The ambiance is truly one-of-a-kind. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his drink, but unfortunately, I found mine to be somewhat disappointing. However, our experience took a delightful turn when we tried the beef skewers. Initially, they were served medium rare, but after being cooked to perfection, they turned out to be the best beef skewers I've ever had. They are an absolute must-try and a true standout dish. We also tasted the shrimp skewers, which were enjoyable, but the beef definitely stole the show. Overall, this bar offers a distinctive atmosphere that makes it a worthwhile stop for visitors looking to have a unique experience.
This place is fantastic. They have done a great job of creating a tiki vibe by adding their own twist of adventure. If you are lucky enough, you get to see some of the decor become animated. My wife and I have come here several times, and it never disappoints. We really enjoy their food. However, it would be nice if the Jamican Jerk Shrimp Skewers were available with chicken. The Tikie drinks are awesome, and they also add their won spin to classics like the mule or old fashion. The bartenders are ultra knowledgeable about the drinks, the spirits, and everything else, and it really adds to the experience. I will continue to come here when I have the opportunity.
Great place wonderful happy hour Fridays food is decent. Environment is fun good place to go to get a buzz and chitchat.
I was traveling to Sacramento for two nights so needless to say, my two dinner opportunities while in town are quite important to me, and sadly, this place did not live up to the 4.8 star rating. I got a sparkling water with lemon and the llomo soltado with beef. The sparkling water was flat, and I’m not sure how this is even possible, but I think the main dish was even more flat. It lacked seasoning, even the raw jalapeño and red chili pepper that the dish was garnished with, had absolutely no flavor or kick to it. The consistency of the beef was good, but I still just can’t get over the lack of seasoning in this dish. It was just sautéed onions, beef over a bed of french fries and rice with some sauce and a canola oil egg on top. Giving three stars because the server at the bar was kind and explained the menu enthusiastically and thoroughly, but I would probably not come back. The restaurant also had a weird deserted vibe to it. Not sure if it being a Monday night had anything to do with that though.
The atmosphere was good. (Temperature was a bit too cold). We were the first customer and there were no one else from the customer but it took a long time for foods to come. They gave me the wrong dish so they had to cook again. They offered a drink while we wait and the drink ended up being charged. lol Main dish tasted both good. The seafood dish needed to have more sauce though. The dessert flan wasn't smooth texture at all so I don't know if that's the Peruvian style or they failed to bake. It didn't taste as good as I expected. Overall, I felt it was overpriced.
Love the theme but the seating is very small. I came with my co-workers to celebrate a promotion. My party had a reservation but they never told us there was a time limit on how long we were able to be at the table we reserved. One of the hostesses rudely came over and told us that we would have to move to a different table as we could only stay at the one re reserved for an hour. I asked the hostess why that was not disclosed to us when we arrived or reserved and that it does not state this fact on their website. She just said that's their mistake. But we still need to move as they had another party. I asked to speak to the manager who never came. Even though we bought almost 10 rounds of drinks which were about 15+ a drink we ordered 2 orders of pot stickers, shrimp skewers, fries, and more drinks. We were receiving water every 30 seconds until this happened then we had to keep asking. Don't think I will be comming back if they treat people like that.
