Bar Germán Salamanca Reviews
Really good authentic hk milk tea and food was delicious. We also had the rice rolls which were great and the chicken and salted rice fried rice
My favorite local Hong Kong style restaurant. The food is always very good never over oily execution is always five stars. Most importantly it tastes amazing and the owners are always very friendly. Fried rice is smoky and superb wok skills are definitely present, fried fish with tofu and brown sauce is just wow.
Some of the best Chinese I have had on Staten Island. Hong Kong style food I would 1000% recommend. The food has flavor and spice. Not to mention the super sweet owner who I would give a million star rating to if I could. He allowed us to bring in our service dog and made a special seat for him to accommodate us while keeping other customers happy. He also gave us dessert on the house. You must try to stir fry Hong Kong style and the French toast. I will be coming back. Thanks for your great food and service!
I am definitely satisfied with the food that I received today. It was very delicious and it is real chicken and beef, which I appreciate There are places that are very questionable but this place is not that. The portions were excellent sizes. I will post videos and pictures of what I ate and I literally liked everything !I am very picky when it comes to Chinese food so this place did not disappoint. Thank you so much. Staten Island has stepped it up with good food.
Finally a real Hong Kong style cafe in Staten Island. Their HK style milk tea is the best in NYC. I LOVE their main course/main dishes: Golden salted ginger chicken, Kyoto pork chop, Fresh pineapple sweet and sour spare ribs, fish filet with fried tofu in brown sauce. I would also suggest their appetizers: Salted egg yolk chicken wings, salt & pepper chicken wings, fish balls, pig skin and radish in curry sauce; pan fried oysters; Hong Kong style French toast. Well, you’ll need to make many trips to try them all lol 😁
This is one of the most authentic Asian restaurants on the island, went there a bit late at night, about a hour before they close, there was still people there eating. Staff was very friendly, the owner was also there to give us recommendations. Price was also insanely cheap, I ordered a baked rice dish for 15 total after tax and tip and it was very tasty. It was cheesy and sweet.
Probably the best 茶餐廳 I’ve eaten at so far. That means yes, I’ve tried all the 茶餐廳 in Chinatown, 8th Avenue Brooklyn, and Bensonhurst, and I still gave this place 5 stars. Queens is too far for me so I can’t speak for that and if you’re reading this review…that’s probably true for you too. One of the owners, Raymond (aka Oyster Cookies) makes the best Hakka style chicken I’ve had. I highly recommend trying it! He comes from an OG spot in HK and that was one of the dishes they were best known for. He reverse engineered and then tweaked it into his own version. Other stellar dishes include the Kyoto Pork Chops & Tomato Beef rice. Portions are generous and not overly greasy - you’ll find more protein than other spots. Their cream of mushroom soup is the best I’ve had. It’s not watered down cream. They have a bar too, if you’re interested in alcohol. FYI- You can order whole chickens given time in advance (a few days at least) for special occasions This place is a godsend for Staten Islanders. 10/10 Free delivery is available if the minimum is met and destination is close (under 3 mi). Paid delivery can be had for farther destinations on the island.
I have heard many good things about this place and finally got a chance to try this place tonight! Must try the wings (egg york or salt pepper), Hk toast and the milk tea (hk style). We also order the satay beef fried noodle (my all time favorite), baked porkchop rice and salted chicken. They did not disappoint! The portion is bigger than I expected. I would try the off menu “pineapple bun”, beef chow fun, beef brisket, and sweet sour spare rib on my next visit 😋.
Me and the boys decided to try something different and we felt like Ramen was a good crave for the day and we randomly selected this location and considered it a jackpot. Raymond hooked us up because we left with more than just Ramen. We added a seafood boil which included Snowcrab Legs, Shrimp, Crawfish, Potato’s, and Corn. The sauce he suggested was what made the boil even better. A good feed for 3 btw for the $45 Seafood Boil. The Ramen was delicious and we made sure to ask for double Pork Belly because who doesn’t like extra meat, pause. We also had the Grilled Squid and Fried Calamari which the sauce to the Calamari had an amazing kick. We all agreed the food was slamming and we will be coming back to get a larger order if all the guys come through. I personally want to come back to try the Sushi on our next order.
HKS Kitchen has a great atmosphere and a unique Hong Kong café concept worth experiencing! The food is decent but inconsistent and could be more flavorful. Service is average and has room to improve. Overall a solid spot with a fun vibe — hoping to see the food and service catch up to the great ambiance!
Coming here on a rainy day is definitely a vibe. The design and decor of the entire restaurant is unique, lots of popular musicians from Hong Kong and other posters all over the walls. The front counter is also decorated very nicely, with different items that make you feel as if you're really in Hong Kong. There's a decent amount of seating, and the restaurant is very clean. The staff is kind and considerate, and brought out the food very quickly from the time of ordering. My personal favorite dishes were the beef chow fun and hot and sour soup. I paired it with a HK style iced milk tea and found it really complimented my food. I tried the salmon rice ball, however, it was too over stuffed with rice and fell apart in my hand. I like that it was big and all, but I would've preferred it if it didn't fall apart while I was trying to eat it. I felt the pricing vs the portion was okay... The food was very good, but paying $12 for half a plate worth of food felt unreasonable. I've tried HK style restaurants in Brooklyn, and I paid far less for twice the amount of food, so much in fact, that I couldn't finish it all, and had enough to bring home for leftovers. I feel if the prices matched the amount of portion you get, then sure, $12 would make sense. But not for half a plate of food ... Overall, I found my first time experience quite enjoyable, but I think I will continue to travel to Brooklyn for HK style food in the near future.
The milk tea is the best out of all the items ordered. As for the curry fish ball, pig skin and turnip, the curry sauce is very good. Pig skin is too soggy. Hardly can be spotted in the dish. The baked rice and spaghetti dishes was good. The tomato sauce is quite HK authentic. One of the better one to be found in all NYC HK cafes. As of the stuffed French toast, probably would not order again.
This was our first time eating at Shishito and it was ok. The portions were a good size. The service was friendly and helpful. It was all just ok. There wasn't anything truly outstanding about this place. The sushi was fresh or at least I hope it was. I guess I'm used to having different experience and I was a bit disappointed. The place also had a slightly funky smell which made the experience place now just a bit off putting. The fried rice dish was not very good. We ordered the beef version but the meat they used was tough and not very tasty. I really wanted to like this place more because it's so close to home but I think I'm going to stick to the place in Bay ridge that I really like on 5th and 82nd street. I could tell the owners here were really trying hard but it was missing dinner touches that could make a huge difference in the client experience. The owner's daughter was a cute little girl who actually added to the place. She was So adorable. I came with a friend who was less impressed because the rolls were too soft and hard to hold onto with the chopsticks. I would pass in the future but you decide for yourself.
Nice place with the old HK vibe and all the decoration. The food however was pretty bad. Noodles are soggy, iced lemon tea is tasteless. Not Chinatown level maybe good for State Island
