Christmas at the Globe. Perfect
Food and drinks here are terrific. Come dine before a show or just because!
Great place to get a snack or drink before a show at the Old Globe.
Only had hot apple cider, as we weren't hungry. However, it was tasty, and the food selections looked good

It's a concession stand, we all know concession stands at theatres can be a little pricey, good offerings. It has limited hours, not very early or really late. Being next to The Old Globe Theatre, it too is adorned with 16th century architecture, plenty of outdoor seating, patio style wrought iron type, benches and a low wall bordering a small grassy area. Great fragrant jasmine and a great backside view of the Museum of Man's California Tower.

Good place fun
A great place to get a drink or a snack before the theater. it's a bit expensive but that's what you should expect at Balboa Park. We arrived 45 minutes before the start of the play last Saturday and were delighted to discover they had created a heated patio where you could sip your drink.

The main attraction here is its proximity to the playhouses. The food is good, and the service is fast, so you can eat and still make the curtain time. There is no table service; you order at the counter, and your pager goes off when you can pick it up. The seating is outdoors with umbrellas over the tables. It's a pretty spot, as you can see the California Tower and Dome, the theaters and trees.
Good spot for pre-show drinks, as well as drinks during intermission. Small, with a limited selection, and a bit on the pricey side. Limited hours (only open about an hour or so before showtime, and I believe it closes after intermission service). Can't beat the views, though!

The online menu is outdated, there are no hot pretzels 😞 rating based on the hot chocolate which was hot and chocolatey meeting basic expectations.
Great pre-theater spot, we enjoy their wines and irish coffees. Last time we went we ordered the chicken melt, over toasted the bread to a pooint it was burnt. We should have returned but we endured. Hopefully a one time thing.

I really enjoyed my time with my dogs having lunch and a drink. My margarita was $16 and was undrinkable because it was so sweet. I overhear the cashiers discussing their disappointment about having to learn about Black History Month in a Hispanic studies class because they were teaching them about Afro Latinas. I did not enjoy hearing his ignorance about the African de Explorer and its global existence. It’s . I did not enjoy hearing his ignorance about the African de Explorer and it’s global existence. It’s just reminds me why we tip after service and not before. My experience was disappointing.
Others have rated the place based on it's bar selection but don't waste your time grabbing food. Here's a pic of the turkey brie just before it hit the trash.

This is not a pub. It's the fast food purveyor outside the Old Globe. They have a couple of beers (not a huge selection) to order at the window as well as some chips, etc., but it's definitely not a pub so don't get your hopes up about getting English pub food. Of course there's always a line before the show but it's the only place to go.

Decent service, absolutely disgusting, over priced, prepackaged food. Please save your money and pack a sandwich instead. What a waste of 50 dollars!
Would not recommend going to this establishment! We were there ***waiting*** in line and they decided to close shop. Instead of saying no one else could get in line they told us that we needed to leave! Rude and ridiculous as far as customer service is concerned!!!
They exist strictly because of the location. We were walking through Balboa park and liked the ambiance, so we decided to grab a drink and a pizza for the kids. The pizza was disgusting, neither of our pizza loving kids took more than a bite. The "Irish coffee" was a shot of cheap whiskey mixed with cheap stale coffee. No whipped cream, no sugar, no flavor. They should be ashamed to call that Irish coffee.
The service sucks. The holiday cocktails that you pay premium for have no alcohol and taste like soda. The cashier has a crappy attitude. If you don't like your job you should quit and find something you enjoy but don't make everyone else miserable.
Terrible service, broken bathrooms, terrible food (burnt sandwiches). Also, why no water cups on a hot day, especially after spending money?
The service wasn't great. Ladies seem like they don't want to be there. Not a single employee had a smile on their faces. I asked the lady for napkins she replied with attitude, then asked her for a spoon and again she gave me attitude. Food wasn't that great either. Atmosphere was nice. It's outside seating.
2 inch long COCKROACHES were crawling on the tables and benches! The food (Sandwiches) were horrible and stale, like gas station food. My wife threw her sandwich in the trash, it was that bad. We didn't notice the cockroaches until we came out for our prepaid coffee and dessert during intermission and fewer people were in the area. Made us immediately regret eating and drinking anything from this establishment.
