Sushi Kuchi San Diego Reviews
Love their Carlsbad location and tried down at Mission Valley near Costco. Was Great! Same quality and tried the spicy garlic edamame which were awesome. Friendly and quick service. Easy parking and location.
An amazing place wait time can be a little long but its worth the wait from there amazing sushi and calamari and the noodles spicy and non spicy so far this place is amazing sometimes you have make sure they look well at paper were put the order cause they are so busy some items take longer but still we'll recommended place to go and enjoy.
I’ve been here so many times—it’s hands down my favorite sushi spot in San Diego! The food is always amazing and the prices are super reasonable. We got the lunch bento box (which came with so much food) and the Sunshine roll, I love the salmon at the top, it’s so fresh and just melts in your mouth. Can’t wait to come back again!
Try the fresh, brimming oysters—an absolute delight! The eel roll was a standout, with tender eel and a perfectly balanced sweet and savory sauce. The yellowtail kama was simply divine—succulent, flaky, and beautifully charred to enhance its natural flavors. The chefs’ presentation was stunning, and the waitstaff offered warm, attentive hospitality. A perfect venue to share special moments with friends, colleagues, or loved ones!
We had a craving for sushi and needed to head into mission valley. We hadn’t been to this sushi location for a very long time - but decided we’d give it a try… simply put, the value and sushi absolutely hit the spot! The quality and price will have us returning again and again. The service was rock solid and friendly. See you tomorrow!
One of my go to spots for their lunch special! Spicy sesame chicken bento box is my go to! Plenty of food. Cost $14.50 My wife ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box and we split a sweet Hawaiian roll. We were really hungry but I think the roll was not needed, but is an awesome choice! Always greeted here by friendly staff and consistent service!
Have you ever had a bad boy? Well, I am telling you it is probably the yummiest thing in their menu. It might even be my favorite sushi roll in San Diego. The rolls come out fast, and the service is reliable. I would definitely go back. Also, make sure you don't miss the ice cream 🍨 😋 it is delicious!
The name sounds "dirty 🤪" but they are the bomb~ Loved everything! From the sushi, tempura, and udon to the delicious green tea tempura ice cream and macaroon ice cream! Do be careful about how much you get cause the price adds up, but I say it's worth! The servers were really nice and made sure we had everything and was good. We sat in the outside area, but we were warm from the cool fire heaters they had when we asked them to turn one on. Would definitely come back, especially when I saw a post on their window that you get a free green tea tempura ice cream if it's your birthday month!!
Favorite "happy hour" sushi spot in SD, and same for the location. The outside seating is better than other Sushi Kuchi locations, and the quality for some reason seems better as well. Parking is better at this location and it just doesn't get as loud as the PB one. The best thing about their happy hour sushi is that it's always on the menu and not limited to a specific time frame. I always recommend this place, and really any of the Sushi Kuchi locations.
Excellent sushi place! The indoor dining is not back up to full capacity yet, so it's kind of messy inside. We ate outside, and it was pretty nice overall, a little chilly in the evening though. We got three rolls and edamame, the Awesome Roll, Sunshine Roll, and the Ninja Roll. All of them were good but the Awesome roll was the best, really great quality sushi. The meat quality and texture were super high, more than the price for sure. The pricing was pretty good, especially on the 50% menu. Definitely will go here again. Hot tea is 2.50.
Highly recommend the salmon skin salad! Omg, crispy and flavors are on point. Be prepared because the portions of this salad was not what I was expecting! Sooo good! Protein roll was delicious and so was their special. Service was awesome. He was attentive even when lunch rush was coming in.
Location was great and there was ample parking. I was able to sit immediately and was greeted by very attentive servers. The goods are the edamame, specifically the garlic one. Salty. Garlic, good. I got miso soup as well and forgot to take a picture, but it was salty and a good pallet cleanser. The Vegas roll was nice and crispy and it tasted fresh. This place is good for a nice dinner and it also has good happy hour deals on both sushi and drinks! Ample seating inside and outside. Salmon sashimi was buttery but some pieces were a little thin. The bads, the pork gyoza was very salty. The green tea ice cream didn't really taste like anything. Overall would come back here again.
My husband and I like the food and atmosphere here but the servers seem to ALWAYS have a chip in their shoulder. We have gone a handful of times and have never had a normal/not grumpy server. I even got lectured by the server once on how to write in my order on the little sheet. (It was a special order, not sushi or something that was on the sheet) Anyway, if you can get past the moody servers then the place is fine. (:
Their regular prices are a bit high. Wish they had more roll options - the options offered are interesting, but most of the time we like what we like. Also, lunch time apparently changes so check first before expecting lunch special prices.
Great casual sushi place. They have a “happy hour” section of the menu where all of the rolls are half off all day. This is a great deal and their rolls are decent. Additionally, the garlic edamame is pretty good as well. Parking is usually okay but the location can be hard to get to since the entrance is close to the Costco gas entrance. The serving time is pretty fast and the handrolls are good!
I've lived in Mission valley for 20 years. This restaurant has been around for a few, but I had never been until now. I would say that I really hadnt missed out all these years. Food is mediocre. Definitely not authentic Japanese food. Service is definitely one star or less. Good luck getting attention from your server. They also don't seem to appreciate your business either... It's very strange. This girl with glasses who does nothing but standing at the hostess booth.. she literally ignored me every time I asked for something. This blonde guy with glasses gave me my check. I paid. No "thank you," or "come again." I'd rather eat sushi at Costco next door.
We have been to this location for years but the recent changes are not great. Menu: there's now Korean food on the menu which for us is a little odd for a Japanese sushi restaurant that has only served Japanese cuisine. Food: Gyozar quality is the same though the sauce was changed with a less vinegary taste to it. The basic rolls (rainbow, caterpillar) have been the same and decent. Star Wars roll is better with more jalapeño and less batter/greasy. California roll is worse with ineffective rolling that makes it fall apart as soon as you pick it up. The eel hand roll is not the same with too much sauce that makes the whole roll very soggy and fall apart before you can finish it. Service: got seated very quickly Overall: a little disappointed with the new "update"
I don’t ordinarily post negative reviews, but I felt like this needed to be addressed. I’ve been to this location many times. The food is consistent and a decent quality/quantity. The service is usually good as well. Today, I brought my service dog and had an entirely different experience. From the moment I walked up, they told me I’d be eating outside. It is in the 50’s, and I was not dressed to eat outside. I let them know he was a service dog. I was told to wait, and they returned with three staff who very confrontationally demanded to know what tasks he is trained to do. I let them know, and we were led to a table. He went under the table and lay down, as he is trained to do. From that point on, we were very uncomfortable. All the staff glared at our table, and even the food was not the normal portion. I’m including a photo of the veggie tempura because we were shocked at how tiny it was compared to our usual portion. I think anyone with a disability who plans to eat at this establishment should know up front you will be made to feel very unwelcome. What is normally a comfortable dining experience was very unpleasant.
