Ka Prao San Diego Reviews
Food is exceptional and the portions are pretty damn big. 10/10
Phad kee mao aka drunken noodle from this restaurant is awesome. Noodles are well fried and seasoned and has a strong garlic-y flavor. Has all the right vegetables in the mix. The fried tofu is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Really enjoyed it. Highly recommend this restaurant to Thai food lovers.
The best service, and by far the best chicken pad thai ive had! Highly recommend.
Ka Prao Thai is absolutely fantastic! The food is incredibly flavorful, fresh, and authentic. Every dish is perfectly balanced with bold Thai spices and high-quality ingredients. You can really tell they put care and consistency into their cooking. The portions are generous, and the menu has great variety whether you’re craving something classic or want to try something new. A unique appetizer is the Gai Zab which is there take on the Taiwanese style popcorn chicken except with Thai Tom yum spices! It’s really good and has the fried basil. The service is friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. They offer 5% off of you pay in cash. A huge bonus is that they’re open late until 12 AM on the weekdays, which is perfect when you want amazing Thai food after most places have already closed in central San Diego. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for delicious, reliable Thai cuisine!
Amazing. I got delivery. Got the Larb and the Drunken noodles, both 11 spicy (“mucho picante” level), and it was super spicy and super flavorful, just how I wanted it. Loaded with chilis. Freaking awesome. And then the mango sticky rice was amaaaazinnnnng. Super wet and drippy. Yum.
The food is made to order, the restaurant is small that the food comes quickly. The employees are polite, and friendly. The restroom is so clean it’s as they clean after each patron. Excellent food!
Gotta try their curry fried rice and papaya salad. Delicious and appetizing. Food arrived on time neatly packaged.
Bought Tonkotsu ramen and wings … the broth is delicious! The chicken is now my favorite from this place.
11/27/2021 You ask for a 10 (spicy), you'd get a 10. My nose won't stop draining. Good food though. The food is authentic and delicious. The best Thai restaurant in San Diego area for sure. If you ask for a #10 spice level, you get it. The price is reasonable.
One year update! Well I have been coming here on and off over the last year. I am happy to report that Ka Prao Thai Cuisine is great as ever! Small changes here and there but nothing crazy. The most notable change is the interior design. Thank you being the best Thai restaurant. Original Review Below: Best Thai food in the San Diego, Coronado, and Imperial Beach area by far. So good in fact we went here two days in a row try more items off the menu. The staff are very nice and can help if you are not sure what you would like and the restaurant is kept clean. I would suggest anything you order get it a 9/10 on the spiciness. This place is also very popular for take out as well. All the plates can be shared so bring some friends and try out more plates! Update September 19th 2021: I am going back through all my reviews of restaurants to be more stringent and to compete my due diligence of each. I have set forth three rules that all restaurant will need to follow to get a three star rating. The three rules for restaurants is the keep it fresh, keep it clean, and keep it simple! Getting a four or five star will become harder, but not impossible! Why? Well, people rating poor restaurants as five stars when they are barely a two or three is commonplace in Google Maps and I would like to fix this problem.
Kao Prao Thai in Mission Valley is simply the best! Every visit to this restaurant leaves me more impressed. The menu offers a wide variety of authentic Thai dishes, each more delicious than the last. The flavors are rich and genuinely reflect traditional Thai cooking. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming, perfect for a family dinner or a romantic evening out. The staff is friendly and attentive, always making sure your dining experience is exceptional.

First time here; food was great fresh tasty and aromatic. Lady at the counter was kind and helpfully. I asked her what was the most popular thing on the menu and asked her to pick out the drink. Not sure what I got but is delicious lol. I saw others peoples food and they also smelled and looked amazing. Would come again.
Excellent green curry and Massaman curry that reminded us of trips to Bangkok and Koh Samui. The chicken potstickers were also very good. Highly recommended!
I haven't had the pleasure of eating in the premises. But I love their pad Thai with tofu or chicken. I was never really into Thai food until I tried it with them. Because of them, I'm now addicted to noodles and Thai iced tea.

Food was so good I ascended to god and high fived him. I don't know what you put in those drunken noodles but they're my favorite. Bonus points for peeling the shrimp tails off.
I want to thank Zen. Super nice guy. Very cool and had a smile for everyone. I love coming here. It's always good. But today is my wife's birthday. I invited everyone to try this restaurant. Food is amazing 👏
I’ve had the Pad See-Ew several times here and it always hits the spot! Great place for a quick and delicious dinner in Mission Valley. Try the Chrysanthemum Tea if you’re looking for a light and refreshing drink.
Tasty Thai food. Tofu larb was tasty but after a while got a bit salty. Ka Prao Kai Dao was delicious and well spiced. Thai tea was too sweet without ice so highly recommended to get it with ice. Overall great Thai place!
A pleasant little Thai cafe. Good food but small portions for the price. Not particularly customer service friendly, the personnel sort of rush you to order.
I ordered the Pad Thai and Thai coffee. The Thai coffee was really good. The Pad Thai tasted like a typical Thai-style Pad Thai nothing special, but good overall. It’s a decent spot for a quick and casual Thai meal. Parking is super easy with plenty of free spaces available.
There were just about 4-5 small bits of chicken in the pad Thai with chicken we ordered. I like their crab fried rice, although I always get some sort of diarrhea from it. Good flavor, decent amount of crab meat with eggs mixed in.

The drunken noodle was delicious favor was there it was sweet salty and spicy with the hint of Thai basil aroma just how I like it 4.6 🌟 / 5 🌟 Chicken larb was lacking flavor like fish sauce lime and pepper but it wasn't lacking any sugar taste too sweet. It was a sweet bland taste. Lucky I had all the seasoning to adjust the favor 2 🌟 The sticky rice was a failure the texture was super soft and gooey not of a sticky rice at all 0
Ordered delivery as it was very well rated on Uber Eats (4.7 with over 4,000 reviews). I should’ve looked on here first. To me it’s no more than 3 stars. I ordered Pad See Ew and the noodles came mushy, broken and stuck together. Not much flavor. The tofu also was not the right texture and a little soggy. Green curry w salmon was mediocre. The salmon was overcooked though I guess to be expected. I chose mild spice on both dishes but while the noodles were bland, this one was bordering too spicy. Paid extra for brown rice. Idk what this is but it’s not brown rice. I like the name though - Ka Prao! 💥

The last two times we've ordered Tom Yum for my wife on DoorDash it has tasted too sweet and didn't have the tangy bitter taste of lemongrass. Something has changed...new chef? We might order from other places in the future.
