The Remy San Diego Reviews
The service was amazing when I walked into the door. I liked how the building - restaurant was in a corner with a lot of shade. It looked really relaxing. When you walk into the restaurant you can see it's really well decorated. It has a nice theme. The food was really good. I went and sat at the bar and got the $11 Wagyu smashburger special. That thing was very juicy and flavorful. I will be coming back again to try a few different things. Thank you very much for taking care of me
Such a great dinner! My mom was visiting and we took her to The Remy. Crispy mushrooms, tuna tostada and wedge salad for appetizers - all were superb! Cornish game hen, short rib pasta and filet mignon for entree - again, not a single thing we could fault. Service was impressive and restaurant had a great vibe.
Looking for an upscale steakhouse without all the pretentiousness? The Remy’s got the vibe!Amazing food, service and atmosphere. I ordered the wagyu ribeye with bone marrow and ALL the sauces, my lady got the scallops. Both of us have worked Michelin star restaurants and can confidently say this place is fantastic. Bonus points for the cocktails and Gehrigs top tier service. Main floor is great for those looking for a more social experience while upstairs is ideal for that romantic, dim-lit date. Easy convenient parking.
I want to start off saying a HIGHLY recommend this place. When we arrived, the attention and service was amazing. We were promptly sat and Julia told us about the menu. I asked what she would recommend and she stated they are known for their steaks/chops but the short rib pasta was "Life Changing" So my date had the steak and I had the Shoet Rib Pasta. I cut the steak with my butter knife if was so tender. It melted in my mouth. While as scrumptious as it was, my short rib pasta was Life Changing!! I was almost scrapping the bowl to get every ounce of it. Delicious is an understatement. If you only have one thing, this dish it it Initially I wasnt even that hungry when I arrived. You know, I could go on talking about the food, but it was the passion Brandon, Nomi, and Julia had for the items on the menu that had my mouth watering. I am so glad I had the opportunity to eat at The Remy and hope u do too. Kudos to Brandon, Julia and Nomi for making us feel welcome.
This was a great experience. The atmosphere was of a classic steakhouse but had this more modern style to it. The drink list was quite impressive and the 2 cocktails I had were spot on. The food was just as good. The chartruteie and cheese board was just phenomenal. We ordered the small, I can only imagine what the large would be like. The NY strip was just right and a delightful dessert followed. The service was perfect all night and never felt we were waiting. I would recommend The Remy is you're in the area.
We loved checking out the Remy which is located where Hunter Steakhouse used to be! Completely renovated and the ambiance is amazing!! Montana rustic vibes, awesome bar and 3 levels! They have a cool private event space on the 3rd floor! The drink selection and wine selection is awesome! Happy hour prices for drinks 10-12 dollars and the food selection is yummy! We had ceviche, tuna tartare and the wagyu burgers!!! Yummm! The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. A must go to spot!
Great food and great service, we’ll definitely be back! Started off with a Paris Texas and Shangri-La cocktail, both were great. Then we tried the steak tartare, prawns, and artichoke for appetizers. All of them were good but the steak tartare was a standout; it comes with bone marrow which adds even more mouth watering flavor to the dish served with delightfully crispy bread to compliment the tartare. Our party shared a massive tomahawk perfectly cooked medium rare and lightly sprinkled with salt as our main course. Yum! For sides we shared mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and mac & cheese which all went well with the steak. For desserts we ordered a chocolate cake as well as a cheesecake. Both were very good and not overly sweet, a great way to finish our meal. Looking forward to eating again at The Remy sometime soon!
I was completely unaware that this little hidden gem existed! My wife and I search Monthly for a different nice place to eat; high-end prices are no object. We want fantastic food, a great atmosphere, and excellent service. The only reason I found this place was a work dinner...I'm not sure why this place doesn't appear in the top Searches; maybe it's an SEO issue? Anyway, if you are in the area, price is not a factor, and you are willing to pay for service, quality, and atmosphere, this place is a great place to visit. This place is casual and comfortable yet high-end well prepared food.
Every dish we ordered was cooked to perfection and exploding with flavor. I came as a party of 3 so we each ordered a different appetizer and main dish to try out the menu. The waitress was really nice and gave us some excellent suggestions. For our appetizers we started off with the artichokes, prawns, and beef tartare bone marrow. The artichokes are lightly fried and come on a bed of almond / pumpkin seed romesco. They were easy to cut with a fork and tasted fantastic. The prawns not pictured because we ate them too quickly came out on a hot skillet of garlic butter. It had a nicely toasted mini loaf of bread which was perfect for dipping in the sherry garlic butter sauce. The whole cooked garlic bulb in the center of the dish was a nice treat to dig into. The beef tartare bone marrow came out on 2 separate dishes and blew our minds with how good they were. The waitress offered to prepare it for us but we preferred to do it ourselves. Spreading the tartare on the toasted bread it comes with then digging out the bone marrow and placing it on top is quite fun. All the appetizers where great but the bone marrow was our favorite. For our main dishes we ordered the scallops, halibut, and Filet. The scallops had a nice golden sear to them & sat on top of a purée. Garnished with some mushrooms to balance it all out. The halibut crust will blow your mind. We couldn’t get enough of the polenta and corn that it came with. I ordered the filet medium rare. It was tender and a hearty 8 oz. It came ontop of mashed potatoes carrots and broccoli. The carrots really stood out for how well they were sautéed. We were pretty full but couldn’t pass up at least one desert so we opted for the cherry cheesecake (actually in the shape of a cherry). It was soo soft and really hit the spot.
This review includes an introductory story as I lived in San Diego for 40 years and now live in South Carolina; The Search for The Perfect Chile Relleno. Residents of San Diego are spoiled with excellent Mexican Food everywhere, but an excellent Chile Relleno is hard to find. My plight is that South Carolina's interpretation of a Chile Relleno is foreign and unrecognizable; yuck. So, while visiting San Diego last week, I set out to find The Perfect Chile Relleno. I headed towards Old Town as a potential opportunity, but upon taking the Taylor Exit, I spotted a restaurant called The Remy, what used to be the Hungry Hunter. The establishment was gutted and completely renovated! Ambiance = Great/Incredible change! I only stopped at The Remy for a beer and a short conversation with the bartender to obtain information to narrow my search for The Perfect Chile Relleno. OK, OK, this is NOT a Mexican Restaurant, and they do NOT make Chile Rellenos; the sign clearly says, "Cocktails & Meat". I'll cut to the chase...my story was leaked to the Chef, Jammir, who visited with me at the bar, and I shared my story. This is a very talented chef; Jammir said, "Can you stick around for a bit, I don't have all the ingredients, but I want to take this challenge on!" Obviously, I responded affirmatively, and the attached picture of Chef Jammir's Chile Relleno is exquisite...my first bite is evident, and my mind and taste buds were suddenly on an epic epicurean journey. The sauce was impactful, spicy, tomatoey, with notes of flavors that melded into a savory sauce that was only overshadowed by the fluffy, gooey, cheesy, Chile Relleno, that I have been in search for, not for the weekend, but for the last 40 years; I still can't find my socks, they were knocked off! I spoke with a number of patrons, who all agreed, that this gem of a restaurant is a shining star, not only because of the talents of chef Jammir, and his incredible menus (lunch, dinner, and happy hour), but because of the ambience, the service, the creative cocktails, the cleanliness, and their attention to detail, that may cause you to sit down, and write a positive review like I did. I want all of you to try something new; take your girlfriend, or wife, and family to the Remy, you won't be disappointed, you will be left with an excited, satisfied pallet, and a desire to return soon, to The Remy. P.S. I returned later that same evening and enjoyed the amazing Crispy Octopus...I am so sad that I to wait until October to delve into the many exciting food options at The Remy, 2445 Hotel Circle Place, San Diego. Tell them Les sent you!
Exceptional Dining Experience at Remy Restaurant! If you're a foodie looking for a truly exceptional dining experience in San Diego, look no further than Remy Restaurant and Chef Jammir. We can't wait to return and experience more of his culinary magic! Rating: 5/5 stars Recommended 100% the cryspy octupus, the mussels wow! The beef tartare really good, also the New York strip crudo for entrances.
If you want to experience great service and amazing food, I highly recommend trying out The Remy. Their steaks are cooked/seasoned to perfection and the ambience overall is relaxing but lively. Gerihg is an awesome server with an amazing personality (apologies if I spelled his name incorrectly). High-end dining experience worth the price.
I’ve been to dozens of steakhouses around the world and The Remy is one of the best. Holy cats was everything about this place amazing. We got seated downstairs in the King’s Club; our server was prompt, professional, and knowledgeable. We split a Caesar Salad - the portions were full plates and the salads were amazing. Citrus forward, crispy, perfectly dressed. The bread service consisted of a warm Demi-baguette with an AMAZING compound butter. Main courses - the scallops were melt in your mouth delicious and perfectly seared. The wagyu fillet was other-worldly. Packed with flavor and unbelievably tender. Crikey was it good. Butter pound cake dessert was ridiculously good. Perfectly balanced; the gelato, brûléed fig… it all worked so well. Absolutely amazing experience - thank you for having us and for the incredible meal.
The Remy is a unique, fine dining steakhouse located in Mission Valley. Upon walking in I immediately felt a western cowboy vibe. You can tell the place is well mannered. It was clean, well-organized, and thoughtfully designed. I immediately noticed staircases leading both upstairs and downstairs, hinting at additional seating and possibly more to explore. Our server, Gehrig, was outstanding. He was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, sharing that he’s personally tried every item on the menu. He didn’t just take our order - he guided us through it, offering thoughtful recommendations for each section of the menu. I ordered the 16 oz New York Strip, while my wife chose the 16 oz Ribeye, both cooked medium rare. The steaks arrived cooked to perfection. My New York Strip was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. But the ribeye, my wife said it was the best Ribeye she’s ever had. Of course I had to try it for myself. It was so tender you could cut it with a fork. Both steaks came with sides of mash potatoes and broccolini. We also ordered a wedge salad and a large side of bacon mac & cheese. The wedge salad was very tasty, elevated on flavor. The Mac & cheese had a smoky flavor. The noodles were soft and had a nice texture. Overall, our experience at The Remy was fantastic. Great food, excellent service, and a welcoming ambiance. We’re already planning our return trip to try more of their steaks.
Delicious food. Soothing ambiance. EXCELLENT service. The food was amazing. 100% in my top 5 restaurants now. Our server Wendy is so naturally gifted in her manner of service. Great recommendations, incredibly friendly, and just the sweetest. The skirt steak was perfect, and the Ajuri Half Chicken was immaculate. The broth it came in was so good I dunked everything in it!
What a fun find. This place is amazing we started with oysters at the bar with a blue berry gin and tonic with smoky rosemary and then was taken down stairs for dinner where we where treated to two amazing appetizers and got to meet the chef. The wine selection is great and the steaks and seafood were perfectly cooked. I highly recommend checking this place out
The food was excellent and the service was also top tier! This was me and my husband's first time here and we are so happy that we went. Out server Sean was great and always made sure that we were taken care of. We will definitely be back soon to try more of the delicious menu.
Excellent restaurant, from staff to service to the food. Marc was our server, very attentive and helpful with menu suggestions We did the wagyu tomahawk which came with 6 sauces. The bread comes with a truffle butter so please order the bread service The half chicken was also very good but obviously not as good as steak Staff refilled water many times, and made sure table was always clean.
Came here for the first time to celebrate my wifes birthday. Gehrig was our serve and he wasnt wrongwhen he said you can throw a dart at anything on the menu and you won't be disappointed. Burrata Salad - 9/10. So flavorful and portion size is shareable. We shared it easily among 4 people Skirt Steak - 7/10. Decent but not disappointed either. I ate all 8oz before anyone else finished. Bread Service - 7/10. The bread could be a little softer, but the butter is delectable. Well worth getting it for the butter alone. Lamb Chops - 9/10. Phenomenal. 4 bones and flavors so well paired with the sauce it comes with. Wagyu NY strip - 9/10. My wife said she would come back even if this was the only thing on the menu. Cornbread - 6/10. Not bad. The sauce on top made it a slight saltier than I am used to. definitely big enough to share among 4 people though. Smores Brownie dessert - 8/10. Superb. Would absolutely order again. Shared amongst 4 people. A bit more marshmallow than I am used to but everything else in it was perfect. Small intimate restaurant. It feels like eating at someones home or cabin. Everyone is so friendly and very attentive. Parking is a bit scarce but there is tons of street parking.
Shawn was an incredible waiter. Very attentive with charming east coast vibes. Wonderful food, ambiance, and location. Ordered the charcuterie board, porterhouse steak with mushroom sauce, lobster macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, paired with an earthy pino nior. Highly recommend.
From start to finish, our meal was outstanding. We kicked things off with strong, well-crafted margaritas and crispy Caesar salads. Our steaks were cooked exactly as ordered and were tender and juicy. Don’t miss the mac and cheese side! For dessert, the deconstructed s’more was a standout. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the overall vibe of the restaurant was warm and lively. The downstairs bar adds a fun energy to the space. Highly recommend this place!
We celebrated our anniversary here and had such a wonderful experience! The value for what we ordered was great, and everything from start to finish exceeded expectations. The Wagyu steak was cooked perfectly. The side dishes were just as delicious, and the craft cocktails were excellent. Our server, Sean, was attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed. Overall, a perfect spot and hidden gem for a special occasion.
We went here twice in one week. When you first walk in the door you are greeted right away with friendly smiles. Everyone from the bartender to the servers made us feel welcome. They were very informative with the items on the menu and their recommendations were spot on. We were able to split an A5 Wagyu Ribeye steak that was cooked to perfection. The specialty cocktails were delicious. Wendy and Brooke were fabulous servers. I plan to come here again.
Most excellent staff and food. It was so awesome, I'm hoping to afford coming back again as this was a company event. The steak was their wagyu cooked medium rare, I normally do medium but it was soo good as is. And that dessert, lemon sauce on top of a brown butter sponge cake. If you can, you really should try this place. Would make an most excellent date night.
Every time that I come to eat in this restaurant, it amazes me. It really exceed my expectations. I will give Michelin stars to this place. Every dish is made to perfection. The chef is very creative and he is constantly adding to his menu new dishes and uses vegetables and ingredients from different parts of the world. The result is extraordinary. I had clams as an appetizer and the sauce was delicious, then I have as main course lamb chops and for dessert the brown cake. They all were superb. In addition the staff is very friendly and courteous. They made me feel at home. Great place to celebrate any event.
Was really looking forward to checking this place out, kept popping up on my Instagram looking so intriguing with fancy cocktails and gourmet dishes. Made reservations for my bday. Atmosphere was welcoming and we sat at a spacious booth. Our server Garreth was friendly, funny, relatable, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about the menu and restaurant. The food and cocktails were amazing and did not disappoint. This place is def a hidden gem that I would highly recommend. Only thing that would have made the evening better was to not be disturbed by the rowdy drunk gentlemen who were prancing around the bar area acting like they were at a frat party... not really the vibe I was looking for next to us for a $600+ dinner.. overall the food, drinks and service were amazing.
I have passed this place a dozen times but decide to stop in yesterday and I was greatly impressed. Great atmosphere, professional staff, terrific value and great cocktails. I will definitely be back.
Christmas Eve early lunch. First time for us. Food entrées selected were quite delish. Definitely will return.
We tried this place for an early New Years dinner with family. We were treated well by the staff. Very friendly and professional. Food was very good. I think all of us had a good time. Wonderful way to start the New Year.
We had dinner with friends here this past Monday and really enjoyed the whole experience. We came at 4:30, not realizing they don't start seating until for dinner until 5:00 but they found us a place together (for four people) at the bar and we had some fantastic cocktails until dinner time. At dinner, our waiter Sean (sorry if that is the wrong spelling!) took great care of us - giving great recommendations and just the right amount of checking in on us during our stay. We had the tomahawk steak served family style with sides and it was perfect. I liked that the atmosphere is actually pretty casual - you don't need to dress up, at least not at 5:00 on a Monday anyway. Comfortable chairs, great food, great service!
Best steak I've ever had. Drinks are amazing and the lobster tail was a good add on to the steak. Mark was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.
We had friends visiting from out of town and checked out The Remy for the first time. It was incredible. Excellent cocktail and drink options and every starter, side and entree we had was great. Our server, Sean, was attentive and helpful without being obnoxious or intrusive. He made it a great night for us and even brought out ice cream with a candle for our niece's birthday. She loved it. Definitely recommend!
Remy is all dat in a bag of chips (which means it is really good). Its a whole vibe, the food is great and service is the same. I had some type of mackerel dish, it was served cold or chilled, placed over what I would describe as bigger thicker chip, and oh.. my.. God!!! It was fye (fire).
My wife and I came to the Remy for our first visit ever to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We loved it! Five out of five stars all around.
I had a Wagyu NY Strip, bacon Mac & cheese, and lava molten cake. Everything here was so good! Angie was my server and she was wonderful!
We stopped for dinner at the Remy while visiting from out of town and we will definitely be coming back next time we are in town. They were very accommodating and friendly. Our server Sean was attentive, quick and polite. I recommend coming here and requesting Sean as your server.!
We enjoyed an outstanding dining experience at The Remy from start to finish. The food was perfectly prepared and extremely flavorful. Our server, Shawn, was equally impressive: attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling rushed. It’s becoming more difficult to find a place where both the food and the service are this consistently excellent. We’ll absolutely be back and would highly recommend The Remy to anyone looking for a top-tier steakhouse experience.
Our 4th visit. Top notch every time. Not a fluke or random good night. Their standard is 5-star. Our waiter New Year’s Eve that worked the bar section by the window was fantastic. Service is always fantastic so no surprise. Our go to steak joint in SD now. Replaced Cowboy Star as number 1, plus parking is easier and you don’t have to go downtown.
Wow. This place has it all. The Remy offered us a modern twist to an old school steak house. Could not get enough of the food here, had to try a little of everything during their happy hour. The 24 Dino steak is mouth watering. The Marlin Tostadas were so good we got them twice.
The Remy is just fantastic! My husband and I go here for special occasions and it never EVER misses a beat. The last two times we’ve gone our waitress was Brooke. She is just amazing and super sweet and very attentive! The staff is also just amazing and the chefs are incredible! They added a tuna sashimi that’s to DIE for 110% recommend ordering it. This place is just amazing and we will always come back ❤️
Came here for the first time for my wife’s birthday and it did not disappoint! Our waiter Sean was knowledgeable and attentive and always checked on us to see how everything was or if we needed anything. Atmosphere is A+ as well as the food and drinks. I got the bone in ribeye and the wife got the scallops. 10/10 would recommend and will for sure be back!
My wife and I went to The Remy for Valentines day and we loved everything. Nate was amazing and the food was fantastic. My wife said its the best steakhouse she has been too, and I agree with her. Well Done we love it and we will be back very soon.
Absolutely incredible experience, each and every time. Shawn was our server and was outstanding. The steak, the salad, the octopus, the carrots, all great. Will be back for a 6th time soon enough.
My company threw our Holiday party there last night and it was nice. You get healthy portions for your money. The Host was very hospitable. He made sure that everything was on point. Even the placement of the tables. It had its own parking. The food was good, especially their pineapple upside down bundt cake. Good for hosting parties.
Enjoyed very much. Service excellent and food very tasty. If you like steak, you can't go wrong. Cesar salad excellent.Happy hour was a good deal. My only complaint was we were asked for sauces for the steak. We received two very very small sauce dishes and the bill was $8 for the two. Probably posted on the menu but that was a rip considering overall price and did taint the experience. The waiter however made up for this myopic restaurant ploy. All in all, a good experience.
This was probably the best restaurant experience I've ever had. The girls at the front were welcoming in a genuine way. I didn't have a reservation but they found me a seat at the bar where they also serve food. The bar has a great vibe about it and the bar tenders and bar backs were working like a well oiled machine. Busy, but not ever looking rushed and always with their heads up checking on the patrons. (I used to be a bar tender and this symphony was something to watch). I ordered the Rib eye steak which came with mashed potatoes and green beans. Also ordered the bread serving which is a $4 extra worth every penny. With a recommendation from the bartender (Sam??) I ordered wine. David Byrnum Pinot was the choice. The steak arrived in less than 10 minutes and was cooked to perfection. The bread was a fantastic artisan loaf with a compound butter that apparently is different all of the time. Yummy! The wine was off the chart good and matched the steak dinner. Besides the food great, the bar back, who was relatively new to the team, was a pleasure to chat with during my stay. That means alot when you're traveling and alone. Again, every staff member had a really great attitude and seemed genuinely happy to be there. The managers should be proud.
Sean was a great host tonight for our anniversary. He paid extreme attention to our table, very polite, and offered a tailored dining experience. This is my 2nd time coming to the Remy & won’t ever be the last. The bone in ribeye medium rare is to die for & go with Sean’s recommendation on the wedge salad! Thank you to all The Remy staff for a great overall experience!
Fantastic find! -Exceptional food. Incredible flavor and perfect preparation of all dishes ordered. Steaks on par with Michelin restaurants. -Excellent bar and cocktails. Knowledgable bartenders, creative variants of classic cocktails as well as the staples. You'll find your drink here. -Attentive and friendly staff. Table was ready in arrival. Ate at our own pace. Incredibly inviting - youre welcome here. Will go again.
Yes!!! If you think you've already tried the most delicious, it's because you haven't been tasting these dishes, that from a simple salad you have the flavor enjoying it for days!!!! Si!!!
From the moment we walked in, this steakhouse completely impressed us. The decor is incredibly cool — a perfect blend of modern elegance and warm, rustic charm. The lighting, artwork, and overall vibe make it feel upscale yet inviting. It’s the kind of place where you immediately know you’re in for a great night. The steaks were phenomenal — perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with flavor. You can tell they use high-quality cuts and really know how to prepare them. The sides and cocktails were just as impressive and complemented the meal beautifully. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want an amazing dinner, this spot in San Diego absolutely delivers. Can’t wait to come back! 🥩🔥🍸
Sean was PHENOMENAL. He was so kind and sweet. He went above and beyond to help my mom from out of state feel welcome. Anyone who has the privilege to have him as a server is in for a TREAT. He’s highly knowledgeable about the menu and made the fine dining experience exceptional. It was so wonderful, my mom talked about having my rehearsal dinner here. We will definitely ask for him next time we attend for dinner.
We have been meaning to eat here for months— and we finally did this past week. Food was excellent. I had the Waygu rib steak - incredibly tender. But the pork chop was also excellent. And really nice salads. Expensive— but not more so than most other high quality steakhouses. We brought our own bottles of wine, but also ordered cocktails— all very well made. Our waiter (Sean) was especially attentive and professional. We’d specifically ask for his tables again upon return.
I ordered the short ribs and was really impressed. I wasn't expecting such a well-prepared dish. The tenderness of the meat, along with the sauce, was incredible. I only needed a fork to separate the meat, proof of its excellent preparation. I highly recommend this dish; it's one of the best I've ever tasted.
The service took a very long time from when we got seated till when we got our appetizers, and even longer till we got our entrees. They said they are somewhat newer as a restaurant and changed the menu recently. The food was good and average price for San Diego. Good date night place.
Yvonne was a fantastic server. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. My steak was cooked exactly how I asked. But the quality of the meat was really disappointing. I also got a hilariously small portion of sides.(if you’re looking at the photo there are mashed potatoes under the broccolini). I really enjoyed the service and vibe, but the wagyu filet reminded me of an outback steakhouse sirloin
This place has tons of old school charm. So glad I stopped by. This is this kind of spot I love to have a grown up birthday party. It's California casual so dress up or down. I ordered a drink called a creamsicle. Don't recall what was in it but I really enjoyed it. As a kind gesture and act of great customer service the bartender made me a mini espresso drink so I could sample it. I didn't eat but I'll definitely be back so I can try their lobster mac & cheese.
EDIT: I just spent 30 minutes listing to some Asian dude in a cowboy hat and shirt complaining how his life and work issues are such a problem for him. Please remember us customers are not there for you. Just a heads up, it's probably not a good idea to wear any clothing with an American flag on it. Most everything was great. The food was amazing, my ribeye was cooked exactly how I asked (medium) and the sides were amazing as well. Literally cleaned the plate. The service was good. I took a seat at the bar and had some really good conversation. Price was about average for what I ordered compared to the quality. Good music playing as well as a comfortable atmosphere I would definitely recommend you, yourself coming and giving Remys a try. Will return.
The food was phenomenal. Literally everything we ordered was 5 stars. The service was great. They were very attentive. The only reason we give it 4 stars overall was because of the atmosphere; it could use some love. It smells like a basement (earthy) when you walk in, some of the trim needed fixing, and for the amount of money you're spending on dinner, it was surprising the table clothes were wrinkly. Additionally, even with a reservation, we were sat in the bar, which is a bit weird for a celebratory date.
The food was great. It was a Saturday night, and the place was busy as to be expected. Service was a little bit slow to get our food but once it arrived it was excellent. First time for me as a male using a unisex bathroom area A little bit different then what I'm used to. If it's open, the women can choose to use the handicap room which is private and has its own vanity area and a bench seat.
Really good food! I had the ribeye and it was great. It was cooked perfectly. My only issue with our dinner was the service. The drinks took a long time and so did the food. I get that they were busy but the server should have noticed that it was taking a long time and checked in with us. Rather than us having to ask.
The food was outstanding, easily one of the best meals I’ve had so far, and I travel quite a bit. Unfortunately, the service didn’t match the quality of the food. I called ahead to let them know we would be about 10 minutes late and was informed of a 2.5-hour time limit, which I was completely fine with. However, when we arrived, the time limit was reiterated again, which made us feel rushed and not particularly welcomed. In addition, our server didn’t offer any recommendations or mention any specials, despite doing so for another table of about 12 guests. Ironically, our busser was far more attentive and helpful and felt more like our server throughout the evening.
La comida está muy rica. El lugar es muy agradable. El servicio deja mucho que desear. Hay mucho personas de apoyo, picos meseros.
I had been looking forward to trying this place out for a LONG time. I hate when I hype up a place in my mind only to be disappointed IRL. First, let's start with the cons: We arrived for our reservation about 15 minutes early. We were invited to sit at the bar until our table was ready. It was full, but we did find seats at the bar. There were about 4-5 people working the bar. It took over 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. About 5-6 minutes after our reservation time, I went to the hostess' station to see if our table was ready. I was told, "Oh, your table is ready, we're just waiting for you to close out your bar tab before we seat you". HOW COME NO ONE TOLD US? After closing out the tab, we were seated. 10-12 minutes later, we still were not acknowledged. We had to flag someone down to ask for menus and water. Another 10 minutes or so went by and still no acknowledgement. We noticed people who had been seated after us were having their orders taken. (They all were ⚪️, we are 🟤.) FINALLY a waiter appeared and asked if everything was OK. My son told him that no one had come by our table yet. "Well, I'm here now!", our waiter, Gehrig said, rather passive-aggressively. The rest of our time there was uneventful, although Gehrig was certainly over-compensating after that. Now, the food: we had the crispy octopus appetizer, my son had the lamb chops and I had the wagyu filet. The octopus was delectable, perfectly cooked and accompanied by a delicious lemon dill cream sauce. The chops and the filet were just ok. My son makes better lamb chops and Ruth's Chris makes a better filet. We did enjoy our meal, but honestly, for the prices and the extreme lack of service, we will not return. Ambience/decor: 4/5 Food: 4/5 Service: 1/5
Gave an overall 3 because I was brought here for my birthday and I ordered the waygu my strip medium rare and I got a medium well steak. They re-fired a new steak and it was rare/ medium-rare. By the time I got the second steak everyone was done eating and I ended up taking the steak home. Servers were very good, but for a high end establishment you would think a manager or kitchen manager would come to apologize and check on me, nope nothing. Not even a discount or comp on the bill for the steak. The rest of the parties food was excellent. Just wish I had my steak done correctly.
The service was top notch and the atmosphere was very nice given the location. However, the value for quality of the food is only so-so. NY strip was pretty chewy and kind of hard to cut. Scallops were good but a little small for the price and too much salt. Most of the dishes I tried from our other guests seemed pretty salty. The steak was the biggest letdown. Other steakhouses are worth these prices, but not at The Remy. I'd go for the sides and drinks, if I went back.
Overall the Remy was a bit of a mixed bag for us. Service was very good. Steaks and cocktails were excellent. Sides were very hit or miss. Most came out cold. Mashed potatoes and green beans served with the steaks were incredibly disappointing - flavorless and the mash was stodgy. Brussels sprouts were tasty but about half the batch was undercooked and too hard to eat. Acorn squash and cornbread was good, other than being served dead cold. Ambiance was also not great for us. We noted in the reservation we were celebrating a 40th wedding anniversary which was acknowledged when we checked in. However, we were sat downstairs in the bar with thumping music. It didn't make for a very conducive evening for an "older" group to chat and celebrate. There was also never any further acknowledgement of the occasion after check in. Overall not a "bad" experience, but at the price point I had higher expectations.
The food was delicious and it was a nice ambiance. I am giving 3 stars because the unisex bathroom caused a very uncomfortable encounter for someone in my party. A man brushed past her and made contact with her back side. It was an overall uncomfortable and awkward bathroom situation.
Our party of six came to celebrate graduation. The place was not too busy and we were seated right away. I am heavy set and was given a small wooden barstool, which I quickly changed out from the bar which was behind us. The music was a little too loud. It was hard to hear conversations well. Our server was slow. The table men brought drinks, water, anything and quickly but the server never came back to ask if our $60 steaks were cooked to our liking or anything. The only time she came back was with our $400 bill. I talked to a manager about it and he didn't seem very receptive to my views. Now for the food: we had the New York strip, the scallops, and a rib eye. The meat was good but my new your had quiet a bit of fat- I was not used to that. They cut the meat for us upon request. Now, the offer mashed potato's and a veggie. The mash potatos were more like a potatoes purée- very loose and runny. The broccoli was good. They offer sauce and we tried them all. Bernaise needs a little more love to it but the green peppercorn sauce I wanted as gravy for the potatos instead we used for steak. There was no bread at the table like most steakhouses. I was a huge fan of Donovan's and unfortunately Remy's came up short. 6/14- One week later same - super slow service our party was all able to use the restroom before our server came over. We got a steak to go with 2 sauces. Steak was burnt- looks like it came from my backyard cook out. Fat burnt, sloppy presentation and no sauces were included. Up side- potatos were slightly better. For the money spent especially during this time everything should be on point. The difference between steak houses is the customer service and attention to detail- this place does neither. Steak was inedible and was a waste of $60 bucks. :(
Visited Remy Steak expecting a more polished experience. I ordered a salad and asked for it to be chopped. Instead, an additional item from the menu was added without my request or confirmation, changing the order entirely. When I pointed this out, the server became defensive and said I was being rude, then stated she would get the manager. I was simply asking for my original order to be corrected. Handling basic order issues calmly is part of being on the floor. That said, the manager was very nice and professional, and resolved the situation appropriately, which I appreciated. Be careful when ordering here—clarify everything, because requests can be misconstrued and items may be added without clear confirmation. Being made to feel uncomfortable over a mistake you didn’t make isn’t a great dining experience, especially when you’re the one paying. Food was fine, but service issues like this make it hard to justify returning.
I really, really, really wanted to like The Remy but so many things went wrong in my visit here, that sadly a 1 star review feels generous. My friends and I were so excited to try this place after seeing an instagram ad for here. Sadly, we left incredibly disappointed on so many levels. After being told by the hostess that the wait was approximately 15-20 minutes, we proceeded to wait an hour before being seated. After being seated and attempting to order, we were dismayed to find out that they no longer serve any prime rib, which was the primary reason we had come here in the first place. This was rather confusing and annoying considering the instagram ad they posted a week ago showcased their prime rib, and they posted last month that prime rib was a special available every Friday through Sunday. My friends and I all opted to try the Wagyu ribeye instead, which ended up being a huge mistake. To start, despite the restaurant being half empty at this point, it took us about an hour and 20 minutes to get our food. Every table around us was getting frustrated and grumbling at how long it was taking to get food. When the food actually arrived, our disappointment grew, as the sear on every one of our steaks was done so poorly that the outside was burnt and charred on both sides, making it crunchy and tough to chew. To make matters worse, the steaks were severely lacking in flavor, and I’m extremely doubtful as to them being authentic Wagyu as they had the consistency and taste of a significantly cheaper, budget cut of meat. I have honestly had better, more flavorful, and tender steak from Texas Roadhouse than the “Wagyu” ribeye I had here- it was honestly one of the worst steaks I’ve had in my life. In addition to all these issues, I couldn’t find a single piece of bacon in the bacon mac and cheese that I ordered as a side, which was the cherry on top at this point. The only positives of the night were our server’s positive and friendly attitude, and the unique and cool ambiance and interior design. This is the most disappointing meal I’ve had since moving to San Diego, especially after spending $90 on a subpar steak and a small side of mac and cheese.
Cesar salid was bad. I ordered a new york strip medium well. What i got left a thick blood pool on my plate that dischoraged me from eating the potatoes. The house fries were mid. The waiter was not suprised by any of this.
