Alchemist San Francisco Reviews
Cool spot, upstairs location, great cocktail program. Friendly staff and good food. Atmosphere is great with good music and interesting art/movie projections activating the walls.
A true Hidden jam in downtown San Francisco This themed bar had everything that I could’ve ever hoped for! With a great selection of drink menus, I scurried in just after happy hour to sit down and enjoy quite a few drink drinks by the expert bartender Gerson My waitress, Cindy took care of every single need that I had with such urgency. It was incredible to walk into the spot and it not be very busy. Normally the spot is absolutely jumping because it’s so close to the baseball field. Go check out the wings. They beat out every national chain that I’ve ever had.
I had quite a memorable experience here. It has a dark, mysterious ambiance with a vibe and decor similar to “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” I’m relocating to a new city tomorrow, so stopping by eased my anxiety quite a bit. The place had projectors on the wall making shadow puppet plays with deep introspective stories and interesting symbolism. I’ve never seen any other bar quite like it, the place was so inspiring and thought provoking that I spent hours here writing in my journal. Food and drinks were top notch, no complaints at all. Highly recommend
The cocktails are fantastic and the bar staff often really know their stuff. There have been multiple times (on the slower nights) where I've asked for a riff on something and they delivered! Also, I don't say this lightly, they may have the best lemon pepper wings in northern california (trying to be modest here, it's probably top 5 in the country). I've taken 10+ people who all grew up in different areas of the country with different backgrounds, and they all agree. Finally, the atmosphere is awesome. There's a cool steampunk vibe with interesting artwork and exposed brick on the second floor.
Ok, so I’m the worst only only captured the bathroom, but I mean look at that nice detail! Anyways, this place had been a favorite of mine for years. Great atmosphere and energy with locals and visitors. Drink rotations super fun and the service is great! We went with a fairly large group and you ordered at the bar and the bartender was amazing and brought all the drinks to the table! Friends ordered food, shared it was tasty and came out of the kitchen fairly quick.
Absolutely loved my night at Alchemist Bar & Lounge! The vibe is just incredible, with a cool steampunk theme that's all about gears and industrial chic. I tried their signature drinks, and they were both fantastic. The ube cocktail with mint was a standout - refreshing and eye-catching. The other drink had a rich, deep flavor with a perfect twist of citrus. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with warm lighting and interesting decor that makes you feel like you're in another era. The service was super friendly and attentive, adding to the great experience. If you're looking for a unique spot with great cocktails, this is it! Highly recommend checking it out!
Im so mad i forgot his name......the bartender was amazing.......i chose a signature cocktail and i tod him to surprise me ....everything was great....the inside of the bar was nice....i ordered Brussel sprouts & wings ( lemon pepper)......def go that route trust me...very good.....i highly recommend 👌
Another wonderful visit to Alchemist Bar and Lounge. This is my favorite, funky bar in SF. They have a unique cocktail list, great bar food and the atmosphere is a real experience. Highly recommend the mushrooms. Service is great, they're open reasonably late and can usually accommodate you even without a reservation. Definitely great value here. I look forward to my next experience here.
Great space. We had a private event here. We were greeted and asked for the password to get in. That's was a nice touch. Lots of appetizers to satisfy every tate. Vegan and vegetarian options. The bartenders were friendly and made drinks quickly. It's was a little loud in the space. I think that was because of the number of people, and the DJ had to play lous enough to create the right party vibe. Overall, it was a good choice for the event.
The drinks are very interesting and the atmosphere is quite unique. I had a great time. Of the two drinks I tried, I loved one (It Takes Two to Tango) and didn't care for the other (Neuromancer). However, I took a risk and tried something out of my comfort zone, so I can't fault the bar for it! It was definitely a great place to hang out with friends and experience something different from a typical bar.
We are doing some research on cool bars / lounges that offer good food hence we decided to give Alchemist a try. The bar tucked away on the 2nd floor has a cool vibe and nice seasonal decorations like. CNY interwoven with their regular displays. The drink list is extensive and the mixologists certainly know their craft. I tried the alcohol free rum drink. It was a tropical experience. With good drinks one needs some food to go along with. We tried their pork belly bao. Kale salad, pepper wings and steak and fries. From best to not so good. The Kale salad was one of the best I ever had , the bao and pepper wings were nice . Unfortunately the steak was overcooked and not the medium rare expensive I was happy for but their fries were solid. Certainly a cool spot to hang with friends and catch up over drinks and food.
good ambiance and date spot, however, slightly awkward crowd. music is alright and there’s weird (but slightly entertaining projections of things). interesting cocktails (actually quite overwhelming — I couldn’t pick), and “good bar bites.” decent service. over all a 6.4/10 and i may go again.
