Ganim's San Francisco Reviews
THE BURGER SPOT ON THIS SIDE OF SF! The food is incredible and they sell scratches! Nothing like winning your lunch cost while you eat! The best part about this place is the owner though, he's a super cool and personable guy. Half the reason I go there! If you're in the area, do not miss out on this delicious burger joint!
been coming here since I was a kid.And love it there still the same good quality. food. And Jess is a very kind and respectable person.
Wonderful and unique local deli. I usually go for their freshly battered fish and chips which are well portioned and always piping hot; some of the best I’ve ever had! Their burgers are also fresh and tasty. The owners are really kind and I always recommend stopping by after work for a six pack and some good local food.
Very friendly and fast service. The place if unpretentious and true to a small neighborhood place to get good straight forward food. I got the fish and chips which were perfectly done and a very generous serving. I would eat there again. If your looking for a great place to get a good place and your at the Chase Center AT&T on in the Potero Hill area stop by. Reasonable priced tasty and well prepared.
super low key and super delicious. Just had their lamb gyros and it was absolutely perfect, wow. This is clearly a mom and pop shop and they do no frills, super high quality cooking. Don't let the ridiculously ugly and really unoriginal gas station grade menu discourage you: this is a gem food-wise, in a really rough casing. People working there are real and sweet, I loved the lovely farewell I got from somebody I couldn't even see in the kitchen... No wonder cops go there all the time on their food breaks, they know...
Yessssssss! I love this place. Awesome burger with fries. Totally unpretentious and fairly affordable. A bit of a hike up a hill to get here but absolutely worth it. They have a hilarious number of different products available in such a small space (burgers, drinks from cooler, lottery, postage services). Have the heartwarming charm of a mom & pop shop.
The food is good but the company is better. The owner is really charismatic and the cooking staff is friendly. My go to is their California Chicken burrito and I'm never disappointed. Their salmon salad has that nice homemade touch and feel that makes it even better.
Great food and kind owner holding down the family business started by his Pops in 74. Every dish i've had here had good portions & flavors. I hope to see their restaraunt survive thru covid & beyond. Support old Frisco mom n pop spots. OneLove
Love coming here frequently because the owners are always friendly and kind. I have had their best burgers, fish and chips, and just last night had their chicken salad. Delicious. It had pineapple pieces that gave it a citrus taste, avocado, fresh cut lettuce and more. The chicken was grilled. Great service. A great place to eat, too when you're on your way to either the Giants or 49er game (well at least for this football season in the city). They do have a TV.
Amazing service. Jesse is the GOAT!!
Best Burgers on the hill...possibly in SF. Staff is friendly and setting is basic...Ina good way. No pretension, just great food, sports TV on in background and juicy rich flavorful burgers. Eat here every week and am never let down.
Best burger I’ve ever tried , great customer service Great prices and I’d recommend for everyone to go eat that upp!!!!!
Had a really good cheese burger for a reasonable price. Owner was very nice, and it is a nice place to just sit for a bit and charge your phone!
This is one of my favorite places in San Francisco, the food is amazing.
I've been here several times so far because I like it. It's a friendly neighborhood market with a kitchen to serve a well-sized menu of delights. The place is friendly and yet very down-to-earth style of simplicity and you can enjoy sports on the TV and/or play the lottery until you drop. Just help yourself is pretty much the mantra here, but the food is totally awesome! I like the burgers the best! They are cooked on the open flame grill and you can have just about anything you want. The fries are large and just right. I've had the reuben sandwich but it needs to be re-thought about because it did not have enough meat. The bread should be toasted as well. The meat and cheese should be oven melted before placing on the bread. I like it the old-fashioned way, but it was still very good, but it needs improvement. The fish'N chips are very good if that's what you like. Generous portions and you won't be disappointed. I certainly do go out of my way to get here to have some good food, company, and also not the hassles of too many people around. You'll be glad you came.
Amazing salmon plate with fries really good burgers, fast friendly customer service
Best place to come and eat been coming here when since I was a kid very good food
I was driving around in San Francisco looking for a place to park for The Dead and Company show, and found this great little Cafe. The owner is a friendly and engaging Man. We chatted about the local sports teams. There was a few topics covered in my 45 min stay. The Swiss/Mushroom burger and fries was delicious to the point where it was maybe the best burger in my life. There's a menu of variety as well as the great burgers. While I was masticating the burger, I heard him take orders over the phone as well as walk-ins placing takeout. So if your ever in San Francisco, You should stop in for a burger or something else from the menu. I am sure that all is as good as my burger. Ganim's give it a try.
I ordered a lettuce wrapped cheeseburger. Wow, it was fantastic. 🤩 The lettuce was cold and crispy. The burger was nicely cooked and very juicy. This was the best lettuce wrapped burger that I have ever had. I highly recommend it.
Ganim's is a liquor store that also has a kitchen. The service is good and the fish and chips are a surprise hit here. If you like fish and chips, definitely try it here. The pieces are hand battered in house and freshly fried when ordered. The pieces of fish are large and have a golden crispy crust. Pair it with a beer and enjoy an excellent meal inside!
Incredible cheeseburger for under $12 in 2023! I think it's probably better than 80% of burgers I buy for any price but it might just be the best bang for the buck burger ever, especially in San Francisco
Got Dave’s Burger and it was awesome, very satisfying and huge. I also got the Chicken skewer plate and that was amazing as well, well seasoned, a lot of food for reasonable prices these days. I made two meals out of the 3 skewer chicken plate. Coming back again when I have the chance. Oh and great service too!
This place is probably one of the last hidden gems in the city. They have the best burgers and lettuce wrap burgers I’ve had in the bay with fresh ingredients. The owner is incredibly friendly, portions are big and the prices are super reasonable. Will be coming back here often. Highly recommend it!
My girlfriend and I visited Ganim's on a Thursday night. I've lived in the area for years and always drove past, but I never had the chance to go inside until recently. I wish I had visited sooner! Walking in, it felt like a whole-in-the-wall hidden gem and you could really feel history on the walls. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I ordered the two-piece fish and chips, while my girlfriend tried the cheeseburger with bacon. The hand-battered cod was well seasoned and paired beautifully with tartar sauce, making for a delicious late-night meal. The burger was equally delicious, with the shredded lettuce and burger sauce complementing the perfectly cooked medium rare quarter-pound patty. Unlike many places, Ganim's doesn't charge extra for sauce, which is a nice touch. I'm definitely already making plans to visit again, and if you're in the area and craving a burger, I highly recommend giving Ganim's a try!
This place can do no wrong. You’d think a place that served everything would be mediocre at everything. Well, you’d be wrong because everything they make is the best of its category. Best fish and chips ever? Yes they have that. Best kebabs? Done. Best burrito? Yes. Best gyros? Of course. Grilled salmon so perfect it could rival a Michelin restaurant? It’s at Ganim’s. I don’t know how they do what they do, but I plan to eat here until the day I die. And you should too. Oh, and they’re a semi convenience store. So if you need a case of beer in a pinch, there’s that too.
San Francisco Bay Area Favorite Best Burger's and Fish & Chip's. Also Delicious Fusion Kebob's and Gyro's. And Fresh made to order Salad's. Friendly Fast Customer Service. And a old school 1980's Ambiance Fast Food Feel with seats and TV for music , sports, big brother show, and top chef show.

amazing burgers and food. staff/owner is super friendly
Great food (I've tried burgers, skewers, fish and chips, and salads - along with fries and/or onion rings), excellent drink selection (including wine and beer) and friendly service. You never have to wait long for your food, and it's always consistent. And it's been here for about 50 years, so it has to be good! Check it out!
We dropped by after a few drinks in the area, and I have to say we loved it. The burgers were good and the staff was really kind and welcoming. If you are in the area and looking for a good place to grab a burgers, I can highly recommend Ganim’s

Good food and ample portions for a quick, tasty and affordable food. Few places in SF still have a good burger, fish fry and sides in low prices. Ganims place is not the most fancy, but his awesome, friendly and welcoming service is certainly top notch!!
No frills burger and fries, along with an odd assortment of kebabs, fish and chips, burritos made with said fries... If you want the modern expression of healthy food, this is not for you. On the other hand, everything tastes great for a reasonable price. If you go in at lunch,. The crowd is mostly blue collar there for a hearty meal. The fish and chips and burgers are both very good, have mostly stock with those and been happy.
Great service and good food i had the fish and chips that was good. The burger was pretty damm good an big.
First time there, and the guy at the register was polite and helpful, and gave me a bottle of water without charging me. The food, two burgers and two fries, took about 15 minutes, and they added lettuce to my burger when I requested none, and the patty itself, wasn't anything special, looked about a 5 ounce patty, with the bun being too large for the patty. The fries, they were lightly salted, and had been frozen, which is normal for most places. The lobby area had a couple of tables and stools, definitely had the Cafe feel to it, but it also felt a little dirty. All in all, for the price, not worth it, would return if in the area, and the prices were a little lower. I may recommend. 7.5/10.
Came here at about 7 pm on Thursday and there was no line! Good: - The cali burrito was amazing! It was so good portion size-wise that I didn't finish in one go, but the flavoring was perfect. The flour tortilla was nice and buttery and so fun to chew - The price was reasonable! About $20pp for a ton of food - Nice staff Bad: - Took about 25 minutes for our food to be ready so I was really hungry by the time it came to our table - The place is a little bit more casual jank diner vibes, it's ok in a group but wouldn't eat here alone Overall this place is conveniently located, though I might do an order ahead to make sure I skip the line!
I love this spot. It's bare bones and old school. It's right off the freeway exit, so I can shoot off 280 and swing by. The two-piece fish and chips is amazing. This guy puts his heart and soul into the food. I've never been let down here.
Famous for its Fish n Chips, this neighborhood hangout also serves a decent selection of saucy burgers. A bunless version wrapped completely in lettuce — also an option. Yummy steak fries. With strong corner store vibes, this place is far from gourmet; but still, stick-to-your bones goodness when taking a break from the diet. Worth a try, likely to bring back nostalgic memories of the quintessential American greasy spoon.

Unfortunately had a poor experience here for lunch. I rarely complain about food but this burger was just too big and not very tasty. It’s impossible to eat a burger that’s six inches tall. For some reason it had three meat patties on it, plus all the veggies and bacon, making it just too large. I didnt care much for the meat as well, the patties definitely looked premade. The fries were okay, brought out a few minutes before the burger was served which was strange. And it took like 30 minutes for my food, definitely not a fast food restaurant. I would not recommend eating here.
Heard a lot of good things about ganims so was looking forward to trying their fish and chips, unfortunately for me the food was just not very good. The taste of the fish was lacking and the chips were also very bland. I got the two piece fish which is more then enough food and around $20, if your going alone I’d recommend a 1 piece. Other then that the atmosphere could have been better it was dead quite in there and would have been nice to have some music playing or something. But the service and drink selection was nice! They have a cooler of a bunch of drinks like a corner store would have so you have a wide selection! But for me I’d likely not return cause the fish just wasn’t very good. Personally I prefer Mission Rock Resort just down the street which has way better fish and chips for just a few dollars more

To start, I'm a burger guy and my friend that I took to dinner tonight is a burger guy as well. We arrived and saw a barbecue outside thinking that this was going to be amazing burger. Totally dissatisfied with customer service and the burger had one piece of melted cheese and the other was not the melted, like they just slapped it on as they served it. The meat did not taste good. The fries weren't good but the onion rings tasted really amazing. The problem was for two people, it was $44 with a $5 tip. Total rip off and I'll never be going here again. My friend lives down the street and is always wanted to try it and he'll never go back. He did eat fish and chips here once and this wasn't that bad. Sad because I thought we were going to get a really good burger.
