Gyro King San Francisco Reviews
Absolute legend, great food , fast and good service. Owner was taking order at kiosk and checked with everyone about the food . Prices are very reasonable and seating area is kept very clean. This is the original kurdish food place and everything is 💯
I really like Gyro King. The food is always fresh and tasty. The portions are big and the prices are good. I’ve been coming here for 4 years. It’s a great spot for a quick and delicious meal. Definitely recommend.
I love their King Tofu Wrap. It is delicious and good for my digestion. I like also their King Veggie Wrap, it taste so good. They also offer pastries like Havlah but the most authentic pastry I like is Baklava, very flakey and sweet.
I ventured in here while I was spending the day running errands in the city. I love Greek salad and being able to add warm gyro chicken to it made it even better. The dressing is light, full of flavor and goes well with the spices on the chicken. The portion size is perfect for two meals. For being middle of the week, just after the lunch rush, it was quiet with just a few others dining. I definitely will be back here.
I've had falafel at many places, but never with sesame on the crust. It added a nice bit of crunch and made the texture more interesting. The outside was perfectly crispy, though the inside was a bit undercooked for my liking. It didn’t ruin the flavor, but I prefer a slightly firmer texture inside. They also sprinkled sesame seeds on the pita, which was a great touch. The bread was fresh, neatly presented, and sliced.
Came highly recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. Falafels are top quality. Service was excellent. Lots of seating and even an outlet to charge my phone. Good lighting, clean, spacious. Restroom for customers. I got the vegan falafel wrap deluxe. My personal preference is to have more vegetables in the wrap like more tomato, red onion, cucumber, and yogurt to introduce more flavors like tartness, sharpness, and brightness but I can also see how I got the max falafel in a wrap possible, which is great value too. I looked back at the menu and saw ingredients listed included all the things I was wishing there were more of, including eggplant, but I don’t remember tasting much of this when I ate the wrap and would personally prefer an altered ratio with more vegetables but that’s just me. Would go back and recommend to friends. Falafel wrap was a great size- see my picture comparing it to a glass of water! Right next to the Orpheum theater so it’s a great idea to grab a bite before or after a show here (that’s what we did)!
Absolutely loved this place! The food was incredibly delicious, bursting with authentic Mediterranean flavors that took me right back to my hometown of Istanbul. The restaurant is spotless and inviting, with a warm, friendly atmosphere that truly feels like a family-run gem. The staff were kind and attentive, making the experience even more memorable. Even the mayor of San Francisco, Daniel Laurie, is a fan of this spot. That says it all. I will definitely be coming back!
Amazing Greek food! The Gyro was everything I could ask for and more. And all the sides are just perfect. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the food comes out surprisingly quick as well! There are tables to sit down, but the place can get a little busy around meal times. But totally reccomend!
Gyro King is a mediterranean restaurant near the Civic Center BART and opposite the San Francisco Public Library. The menu has a selection of salads, falafels, gyros, and kebabs, as well as a pastry and dessert selection. I got a falafel wrap, a falafel plate, and eggplant salad (off menu?). The portions are generous and the owner provides friendly service. The falafels are well spiced with great flavor, and are cooked well to boot. The red sauce available at the table is delicious and spicy.
We stopped in here for a little snack after the library which turned out to be quite a lot of food so it really was "first dinner." Never had the veggie plate here and it was really great as was the spinach pie. I used to come here 10 plus years ago and it is just as good. I'm so glad I tried something beyond the gyro because everything was really good. Each of the items on the mezza platter had distinct flavors and we even discovered a few that hadn't had before. For example, one of them was a spicy eggplant and it was delicious! Like others have commented. The staff were really nice. The man who worked the counter, perhaps the owner was very friendly and willing to answer questions and provided suggestions as well. The ambiance was also quite nice for a block that otherwise is not very distinguished. Highly recommend coming here if you're in the Civic Center for any reason.
Just popped in to a full house crowd half hour before Hamilton starts and no problem got our chicken kabob plate served with no delay , warm ! fresh ! and tasty! They have the best rice on earth really! Always consistent and food portion is as big as Turkey! Don't leave without Turkish dessert cuz that would be wrong. Every time we tell ourselves to try something new for opera night but we just keep coming back time and again. I hope this shop live forever and ever...Bravo!
Terrific place to grab a quick bite before our matinee at the Orpheum. We both got the lamb & beef gyro wrap since we didn't want to bring leftovers to the theater. It was filled with meat, lettuce, tomato and plenty of sauce. Hot sauce was available on the side though I like mild. It was filling and the perfect size. Not the best I've had but very good.
