Kam Lok Restaurant San Francisco Reviews
The food here is really good . The wonton soup was delicious and was like butter in my mouth 👄. The fish 🐟 and rice was equally as good. I highly recommend this place to everyone if they see in Chinatown San Francisco and they would not be disappointed. Next time I will go there in person instead of ordering delivery. I give them 5 stars all around.
Wonderful to hear that this restaurant has been around since 1885 (however it was under a couple of different names)! The location is a bit hidden as it’s located on basement level. The other customers who were dining here appear to be locals who come here regularly. I hope this restaurant stays as long as they can! Great honest Cantonese food! We really loved the Pork Ribs in Spicy Salt (crispy & flavourful)! They also have lunch specials here. Their set menu are such great value if you’re a seafood lover.
Kam Lok is a classic SF Chinatown basement style restaurant. I've eaten here in the past and didn't post a review. Tonight, I had the runny egg shrimp chow fun $12. This was delicious with ample wok flavor. This dish can be challenging to make because chow fun and egg are kind of plain. That gravy has to be good. Their menu is limited if you are ordering fried rice, noodles and etc. It is more family style dishes orientated with only one page for rice and noodles. Not on the menu is crispy Hong Kong style noodles, which I love. If you ask, they will make it for you. So, don't rely too much on the written menu. Service was excellent.
Kam Lok is in the basement of hunan house. Nothing special about the atmosphere, but the food was DELICIOUS. Genuine Chinese food, served family style in center of table. All the dishes were great!
Very authentic Cantonese food. The pork belly with preserved veg was mindblowingly delicious. So tender and juicy. Only cost $12 at lunchtime. What a deal! Service was fine. The decor was a bit rundown and the restaurant is in the basement so not much light. Would recommend
We come here every time we come to San Francisco. Absolutely best sweet and sour pork at a very reasonable price. Walnut shrimp is a must try
Excellent food and great portions at great prices A must-visit every time I’m in SF

Excellent food and great portions at great prices A must-visit every time I’m in SF
Very authentic place; yummy food!
My review is that of 1980s though this place was my favorite place then and now when I return to the City. We often went there after playing Golf. My favorite plate was Beef with Chinese Green in Hong Kong style and Clam in the Pod. We paid 3.00 to 5.00 bucks for a plate in the 80s.
I came with my family members and ordered a few plates, the food was delicious, not too much salt. The price was decent, good customer service. Definitely coming back.
We go here every time we visit SF. Excellent place in Chinatown!
I wanted an authentic Chinatown eating experience. I definately got it here. The food was quite delicious as expected. Thank you.
Nice big portions of good authentic Chinese food
🥢Beef Chow Fun with fermented greens 🥢Cigu (Arrowhead) stir fry with Lap Yoke (cured pork belly) & Lap Cheung (Chinese sausage) 🥢 Pan fried eggs with Bitter Melon & Dried Daikon 🥢Watercress Soup Almost 50 years young, still a great place to dine though sometimes forgotten or overlooked .. definitely a repeat !!

We got several dishes which was the shrimp fried rice, salt and pepper chicken, sweet and sour pork, and pot stickers. The only thing memorable were those wings! Wow! We even went back the next day to get two more orders! Listen, to save time, just order chicken to take home! Good stuff!
Great home cooked style food nothing fancy but alot of flavor, you would walk right past this place, but don't! Better food than alot of the place that charge 3 times the price.
loved the atmosphere, the pork fried rice and the location!

It's OK. The fried tofu was amazing, but the other dishes were less flavorful. Halfway through our dinner there was a horrible locker room sweat smell that was really off-putting. Probably won't come back.

$45 for either a crab or a lobster set meal, so it was definitely quite a bargain! The lobster was fresh and it had great flavoring. The set came with four other dishes: East Lake Beef soup, Mongolia Beef, Spicy Salt Chicken Wings and Tofu with Veggies. The soup and the tofu tasted good. However, I find the beef and chicken wings a bit too salty for me. It was a nice touch that they had complimentary red bean soup for dessert. The portion size was huge, but somehow, the four of us managed to finished everything! Definitely feels like a hole in the wall restaurant especially the fact that the restaurant is literally underground! Credit cards are accepted.

The walnut shrimp and garlic green beans were phenomenal, some of the best I've had in my life. Complimentary tea served at our table was very nice. The garlic eggplant and mapo tofu were just okay. The service was great and I enjoyed the casual atmosphere. I hate to say this because I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews for small businesses, and I hate that this was my biggest takeaway, but this was one of the dirtiest restaurants I've ever been to. Everything from the menus to the walls to the restroom was covered in a thick layer of grime. My aforementioned cup of tea had a fly in it; I got a new one, and there was an eyelash in it. Hopefully this can be an impetus for them to do some serious deep-cleaning soon.
