CASH ONLY. Been in the neighborhood for decades patronize by locals and now trendy crowds(due to son taking over). The options are varied and reasonably price. Freshly cut up fruits which I opted for instead of the potatoes. Clean place, in fact a worker who drop some jam packets pick it up and threw it as oppose to putting it back!👍

I would say this place is kind of like your average breakfast spot, but the staff here are super friendly and seem like they genuinely love their job. The food is good and the price is fairly inexpensive.

My review is based on take-out on 3/7/2021. Indoor dining wasn't available as the owner wants the staff vaccinated before that can happen. New Taraval Cafe makes a very tasty breakfast! My "Irish Breakfast" was ready in about seven minutes. It was two eggs, Irish sausages, two Irish bacon pieces, black pudding with potatoes and a piece of sourdough toast. Their version of the Irish breakfast does not include what is typically in an Irish breakfast, which is baked beans, grilled tomatoes, Irish soda bread and/or mushrooms. They did include black and white pudding pieces which is typically included in a "Full English Breakfast." This was certainly a good lazy Sunday treat for myself. I love using the sourdough bread to break the yolk and soaking it before eating it. Now I have this weird craving for some tea. Good job New Taraval Cafe. I enjoyed my meal very much this morning.

Friendly Sunset district breakfast spot with free coffee refills. I ordered Corned Beef Hash with my eggs over-easy, which is the most challenging way to cook eggs without piercing the yolk. The eggs were expertly cooked. Good job!!

Delicious breakfast, fast service, nice and friendly owners. I especially liked California omelette and French toast. If I lived in SF, I would often have breakfast at New Taraval Cafe :)

This place is recommended by my 7 years old kid who was so excited to take me here on this weekend. I was initially hesitant to write this review bc I don't want ppl know this place lol . This place is such a hidden gem in my neighborhood , luckily enough to be able to find a seating on Saturday morning around 9 am although the place was packed . Everything we ordered was amazingly good. We ordered new Taraval scramble, breakfast sandwich with sausage and French toast with small bowl of fruits and despite of the large portion, we devoured the whole thing. The service was great and we can't wait to go back

Beautiful authentic place. The guy Orlando makes his own hot sauces! Also fresh orange juice that’s get squeezed in front of you. Beautiful place to have a breakfast.

Amazing local breakfast and Lunch Spot with Delicious food

This place is great! The food quality was very high, definitely not what anyone would expect given that it's hidden inside a really nondescript building. The owner was also our server, and he really made our day by recommending a great Burmese restaurant and an excellent Russian bakery. They were both also great places, but they weren't better than New Taraval Cafe! I really loved my breakfast burrito with chorizo.

An excellent neighborhood breakfast and lunch spot. It's small, feeling like a hole-in-the-wall joint, but the food is outstanding. All fresh ingredients, freshly cooked. The staff are vert friendly, welcoming everyone. It's rightfully popular at weekends and very good value for money. One word of warning, it is cash-only, which is Increasingly rare.

First time there. Its reasonable price. Friendly waitress and cooks. An enticer is if you come before 7am ( I think) the regular breakfast is about 1/4 (that's 25 percent) cheaper.

Brunch was the bomb here. Found this little cafe on the way to Ghirardelli Square. Orange juice is fresh squeezed. The taters are to die for, fresh not frozen. I could really taste the difference. Reminded me of my mom’s. 💕 My omelet and potatoes were piping hot til the last bite. Orlando was an amazing server with a great smile and so attentive. Check them out.

Me, my mom and kiddo saw this little corner mom n pop cafe and decided to go in. Usually I'm skeptical since a lot of Mom and pops are disappearing in the city or lost the soul in cooking a great meal. But this place didn't disappoint!!🥰🥰 The food was awesome and the staff was very nice. We had to wait since it's small but it was so worth it 🤗. Had the corn beef'n'hash and you can taste the love they put into it. Thank you! My mom and kiddo enjoyed themselves and that's hard to come by!

Overall I had a wonderful experience here. The cookies here on the weekends were excellent. Good texture contrast, nice crumble, not too sweet, and very flavorful.

Feels like family when you're there, with uncommonly warm service. Breakfast is as good as it gets. The owner makes his own hot sauce and I took a couple of bottles home.

This restaurant has truly become one of our favorite weekend breakfast spots as a family. From the moment you walk in, the service and atmosphere feel so friendly, cozy, and welcoming. The staff is always attentive and genuinely kind, which makes the experience even more special. The food is always perfectly prepared and consistently delicious. Without a doubt, some of the best breakfasts you’ll find are right here. We always leave happy and looking forward to coming back

Delicious comfort food at a neighborhood cafe. I had the breakfast sandwich with bacon and hash browns and coffee. Generous refills on the coffee and a very yummy sandwich. My husband had the chilaquiles and really enjoyed them. Plentiful hot sauce choices. The cafe is family owned and a great spot for lunch or brunch.

This is a cute little cafe, It has a few booths and a few seats at the bar. It feels very cozy and simple. The service was the best, Ofi was great giving her opinions and she made us feel at home. The food was made very fast and all of the dishes were flavorful. Starting with the chilaquiles which were perfect flavor and crispy but not lacking any sauce. The french toast was crispy too, and the flavors where just right. I would recommend coming here, the portions, prices and service are very good. Cash only.

Got the bulgogi burger on smash burger night and it did not disappoint. Love the hole in the wall, no frills community dinner vibe. Very warm and friendly staff. Would recommend and would go back to try their breakfast menu!

Great food and customer service! From the outside you’d think it’s a dive, but food has great presentation and taste! Fruit salad very fresh, probably local farmers market! Loved it! Cash only so be prepared! Prices are good and so are the portions! Update to my last review, I just discovered Orlando’s home made hot sauces and they are incredible! It was so yummy I wanted to take the bottles! Lol

This place slaps. On a recommendation from a friend, we came here for breakfast. Enjoyed the Italian omelet and breakfast burrito a lot. The Italian sausage is delicious! Cash only and affordable. We had very kind and attentive servers. At about 11am on Sunday, we waited for 10 mins to be seated. Cozy diner vibe with good smells and the sounds of the open kitchen.

It was quiet on a Wednesday morning with just a couple of tables occupied when we arrived. We were seated immediately and asked what we wanted to drink. We ended up ordering the Irish Breakfast, California Scramble, and an orange juice. Everything was reasonably priced with a generous portion. And yes, cash only. Edit: Dropped by again for breakfast with the fam on a Sunday. Most tables were occupied, but they were able to seat us all the way in the back. Food and service still great. I got the breakfast hash this time.

Lovely little cash-discounted greasy spoon breakfast spot. They make a respectable Full Irish Breakfast, with black and white pudding, and back (British) bacon - it’s only missing the beans. They serve you a whole pot of tea as well.

Went here for breakfast with my sister. I had the New Taraval breakfast special and my sister had the two egg breakfast. Everything was great. We'd never been before, but now we understand why it's a neighborhood institution owned and operated by the same family for over 30 years. The service was outstanding. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. One of the cooks even makes his own hot sauce, which they have out on all of the tables. It was so good that I had to buy a bottle (and ask him to take a picture with it).

the little cozy size & shape of this place, taken in consideration with how short the wait has always been to be seated any time i've been here, makes it feel like a hidden gem. to be more fair, i don't know how hidden it actually is. it's certainly a friendly and comfortable place, though, and you can tell how much love the community has for it, which would make it an enjoyable place to eat even if the food were only ok. fortunately, it's more than ok — both the sugary options like the french toast and the savory menu items like the eggs benedict are worth getting, to a point where i have a classic, timeless brunch crisis every time i'm there over which direction to go on that particular occasion. i think that's how you know it's good. on the benedict in particular, the eggs themselves are always poached exactly right, and the sauce falls just short of perfect. reaching a point where i would more confidently use that word is not realistically attainable, though, and i recognize that i have a personal preference for slightly more lemon than is probably considered normal. in a world plagued by lazy hollandaise so thin and mild you wonder exactly how many yolks were even involved and what else must be occupying their seat instead, the richness of this one ensures that the benedict is everything it needs to be. eating here is always a lovely way to start out a day, no matter where i am going afterward. the staff seem to find genuine joy in brightening everyone's day with a good meal, and the drawings by children that are hung up enhance the family atmosphere. i know the way i've written this is inappropriately pretentious for a place like this, and it's the only way i know how to be, but i'm complicated. so i will close by saying that one time i watched a child be held up to watch the orange-juicy-machine squish all the oranges, and i think i share that child's delight every time i watch the orange-juicy-machine myself. it's a good machine.

This place is absolutely the reason why you want to support local, I came in saying it was my first time dining here and I realize now that this will be the first of many visits. The portions, price and flavor were all ten out ten. I absolutely loved the hot sauce selection, the green sauce was my favorite but they were all delicious. We got the chiliquiles and french toast, everything was cooked to perfection and we left satiated. I also have to say the coffee was very delicious, full-bodied and I love a classic brown mug. Service was also friendly, quick and attentive. Please make this your next breakfast or lunch visit.

This is my comfort place. I love breakfast food, and this is the where I go when I'm craving a good old fashioned corned-beef hash and potatoes. It's so good. Highly recommend Orlando's hot sauces. So much flavor and just enough kick. By FAR the best part of eating at NTC is getting a warm greeting from Stan or Orlando, it's really like coming home.

We were surprised and delighted to find New Taravel Cafe. It is an assuming corner cafe from the front. But step inside and it becomes this very welcoming super breakfast spot that only had one table empty. We had two toddlers and they immediately found us a booth, had a booster seat and the girls had lidded cups. Fantastic! The food was super too. Fresh squeezed orange juice, beautiful fruit plate, perfectly cooked eggs, generous French toast covered in strawberries. With toddlers we couldn’t try the really tempting Lox Benedict, chilequiles, breakfast burritos or the rest of the eclectic menu. Service was beyond flawless - just perfect! We plan to go back Monday AND it’s on the other side of San Francisco but it’s our new favorite.

At first when entering this cafe, it may come off as plain and simplistic. It has a somewhat dinner feel with booths and a bar top side near the kitchen. But don’t let that deter you from experiencing this wonderful establishment. The first thing that was obvious about this place was its amazing customer service. The staff was very friendly, providing great service and welcoming positive attitudes. This place is great for breakfast. The food not only tasted great, it looked amazingly appetizing. The cost was reasonable and the experience is worth it. This is a place to check out if you’re looking for something a little different that’s not like a major chain of restaurants. This place stands out on a good note all by itself.

Food was great but the girl prepping fruits and the toast with her bare hands was also handling cash and credit card payments. She would wipe her fingers on a used wet cloth if she had to. It was not hygienic. Rest of the staff were great.
