I have been eating and drinking here since it's first opening. The sushi has always been a consistent favourite. One or two others are roughly as good but none offer quite the bar, service, the whiskey or sake variety, the interior and atmosphere or the regulars that come year after year. Not even the other Ozumo locations quite measure up to this , the original.

Ozumo San Francisco is always a good time. The atmosphere is lively, the service is great, and it’s one of those places that never disappoint. My husband and I love coming here for date night, and it’s also one of our favorite spots to bring friends for a fun night out. The happy hour menu is fantastic, the sushi is always fresh and delicious, and the wagyu egg rolls are absolutely to die for. The sake selection is also excellent. Whether you're stopping in for drinks and happy hour or sitting down for a full dinner, it’s always a great experience. Highly recommend!

Ozumo Sushi at Santana Row absolutely exceeded every expectation. I came with my best friend to celebrate her 21st birthday, and from the moment we arrived, the customer service was outstanding. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely excited to help us celebrate. The staff was extremely attentive without ever being overwhelming—constantly checking in, clearing plates, and making sure we had everything we needed. Our table was never cluttered, and we never once felt forgotten. On top of that, we were treated to so many fun amenities that made the night feel extra special and celebratory. The overall energy was warm, upbeat, and professional, which made the experience feel effortless and memorable. Between the exceptional service and the thoughtful attention to detail, it was truly an amazing night. I would absolutely recommend Ozumo for any special occasion—or honestly, just for a great dining experience in general.

Ryan served us at the bar and he was fabulous he came through with the recommendations. Let me tell you about the Kani korokke which was a star it was this little perfectly fried breaded ball filled with crab meat and a few kernels of corn. Then the hand rolls both the ebi tempura and the spicy toro were amazing the dumplings huh I could do without. Get the spicy Tokyo Vice we were stuffed m. Ryan was so on it and assisted with recommendations and made sure to check on us frequently. That all day happy hour on Fridays is something to definitely check into.

We had an incredible dining experience here. The sushi selections were not only fresh but also creative and beautifully presented. Each roll felt thoughtfully crafted, and the rice was perfectly seasoned. Service started off a bit slow, but once our server got to us, everything flowed smoothly and professionally from that point on. My son ordered 8oz A5 Wagyu from the Miyazaki Prefecture, and it absolutely lived up to the reputation. I had my first espresso martini's ever which turned into several that were amazing. The Choco-Chan dessert was the highlight for me, very unique, and a perfect finish to the meal. This spot is a must-visit for any sushi lover passing through San Francisco. Can’t wait to come back!

Large open space with a very clean vibe. Bar with some seating in front, open high-ceiling table-seating in back. The sushi was outstanding. We had several different rolls - the rainbow roll was notably excellent. The Mizuna Salad was great - fresh fruit, mixed greens and pepinos with a light dressing. Their miso soup is subtle and perfect. The wagyu beef was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, though as others have commented, a bit pricey. Special mention to Army, who provided excellent service. If you are looking for high-quality sushi in the crowded SF market, try Ozumo!!

Had really good food, very close and convenient to the hotel beside it. Service was a little hectic, but they made up for it. It is a bit on the pricey side. Has a big drink selection. The server was really nice. All the workers looked professional.

The food at Ozumo was absolutely delicious. It’s a shame the Santana Row location near us went downhill, otherwise we’d still be dining there often. This time, we stopped in before a Giants game and enjoyed a sake tasting flight along with a dozen other dishes—everything was fantastic. The vibe was chill and, being a Wednesday night, the restaurant was pretty quiet. Our server was sweet and the runners were all on point. Thank you for a fabulous meal—definitely a million times better than ballpark food. We’ll need to come back more often!

Very big sushi restaurant with a fromt that act as a bar, which makes it too loud. The sushi is excellent but being so big removes and nice atmospheres of a high end sushi place

Great Japanese restaurant with a variety of options (including gluten free) plus a full bar that wraps around the center of the main level. We tried the habani (hamachi), kinoko (mushrooms), nasu (eggplant), and some sushi rolls. Everything was very delicious. The mushroom dish was our favorite. We would definitely return and recommend to others.

Unique and delicious menu items. The made my SO's birthday very special with a card and dessert. The miso soup is so delicious, I can't even understand it! Gluten-free items clearly marked and they use tamari rather than soy sauce. It is not dedicated space but I felt very safe enjoying their food.

I sat at Ozumo for a solo lunch date and what an amazing experience. Everyone was super friendly and professional. Luke, my server was the best! He helped me pick out some items off the menu and all of his suggestions were DELICIOUS! The fish is so fresh. The wagyu nigiri is to die for! The Giddy Geisha?… give me 14 more please!! lol The host(unfortunately I can’t remember her name) even stopped by to check in on me and make sure I was doing ok. Just a great experience overall. Would definitely recommend this place and will definitely be stopping by whenever I’m in town.

I recently dined at a Ozumo. The sushi was outstanding, with each piece prepared with precision and care. The gyoza were perfectly crisp and flavorful, serving as an excellent appetizer to the meal. I was also impressed with their old-fashioned drink, which was expertly crafted and paired surprisingly well with the sushi. A special mention goes to George, the sushi chef, who made the experience even more memorable. His skill and attention to detail were evident in every bite, and his friendly demeanor added a personal touch to the evening. Overall, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates high-quality sushi and a well-made cocktail. I'll definitely be returning soon!

The vibe is everything. Music and atmo just perfect and staff were delightful. DJ arrived and dialed it up, yet still could talk easily with our table. Apps and waygu robata dishes were delicious. Sake was beyond good quality; just stellar. Here is where expectations diverged; personally I have never had sashimi cut thickly. It threw me off and I couldn’t rebound. I adore a thin slice that melts in the mouth. This is a more robust sashimi. That is likely just a personal preference, but if you share my opinion then lean into robata and rolls/nigiri to maximize your enjoyment. Fantastic and lovely evening.

Came here with a group of 6 and had a good time Great interior atmosphere, great balance of intimate setting but filled with life and character. Service staff were really friendly and respectful, however, they were mixing up people's plates on our table - not a huge deal, but it's a slight inconvenience trying to identify each others dishes. There were some delays in getting the food out, but the restaurant compensated us and didn't charge us for the delayed dishes. The menu had a variety of options from seafood, beef, chicken, and vegetarian dishes - tasted great, though the wassabi wasn't as spicy as we expected.

Despite not having a reservation, we were able to walk in and find a table. It was our first visit, and we were warmly greeted and seated in the main dining room. The waitress promptly arrived with menus and offered us drinks. The food was excellent, with the exception of the tuna tartare, which lacked a strong tuna flavor and was overwhelmed by other ingredients. I particularly enjoyed the Ozumo Unagi and Shrimp Tempura rolls. The atmosphere was pleasant, and everything appeared clean and tidy. Overall, we had a positive experience. While the nigiri and sashimi offerings seemed a bit overpriced compared to some other restaurants, they were still delicious. I would definitely return for the rolls.

A bit overpriced for what it is. Ordered the Wagyu don and it was too oily and had too many shitake mushrooms. The taste and smell of mushroom overtook the meat. The staff is very professional and nice, and great atmosphere with clean interior. Coworkers ordered the lunch specials and it looked very disappointing in portions and visuals.

The food was sadly average. I ordered two rolls and both were not well packed with the rice not rolled properly. The rolls themselves were equal in flavor to any sushi place really. The bass special we got was a laughable portion (about two dime sized bites) for $33!? The fried tempura was decent, but it’s fried veggies and hard to go wrong there! The winner was the miso soup which was actually pretty fantastic and was a thick rich broth. The service was good and our waiter was helpful and attentive. Maybe go for a cocktail and a miso soup on a cold day?

I have been regularly coming here for lunch and experience has always been outstanding. Today finally showed this place to my wife as I was telling her all the time how great the place was and service has been …. not very good at all Waiter kept distracting while talking the order, took forever to bring drinks, was not there, I had to poach soy souce from another table after waiting 10 minutes for her after food arrived Also tried to take away plates when we were clearly not finished.. A bit disappointed but hope next time I come for lunch it is back to normal

The first time I went here months ago, I tried the spicy poke (“tuna poke” if you order via Toast), and loved it. I wanted to wait for a special occasion to reorder it, since it’s really expensive. Today I ordered online for pickup and was wildly disappointed upon receiving my order. When I picked up my order, I was shocked to discover that this isn’t even the same dish. There was NO radish, takuan, cucumber, scallion, pickled ginger, or crushed avocado at all!!! And on top of that, there were ingredients that aren’t even listed, like seaweed salad, white onions, and edamame. Generally, I am a fan of their food (happy hour is great!), ambience, and customer service, but today I was really disappointed. :( Not to mention, the fish did not taste fresh. :(( I would have appreciated full transparency if the item is discontinued or ingredients were out.
