The Hungry Café San Francisco Reviews
This place is a gem! Their food is incredibly sophisticated and delightful. The guy running it us really kind and helpful. And there are great outdoor spots nearby to eat. Definitely considering coming here for lunch, breakfast or a smoothie! (By the way, they are NOT located in an office complex. It's a really nice community center, with a cool garden/playground.)
The perfect spot for peaceful cafe + nature + work spaces + food. Plus it has halal chicken as a bonus! unique latte flavors like orange blossom, rosemary and hibiscus and a beautiful space !
Super friendly staff. Comforting yet spacious space. My wife and I spent a few hours here enjoying coffee and reading. Free wifi available. Great place to relax and read.
Excellent assortment of California-style Mediterranean dishes — perfect for breakfast or lunch, morning coffee or teatime with a work date or colleague. Falafel with carrot hummus, dolmas, pickled veg, and soft boiled egg — deliciously light and satisfying. Sumac Fried Chicken Sandwich, slightly spicy, a wonderfully Middle Eastern twist on a classic American. Thumbs up. Elegant, sleek, but approachable dining experience with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a two-acre park. Work counters with outlets and couches. Peace.
Nice spot, limited but very fresh menu. I’ll come back and try more things for sure.
Soooo good, this place mainly has Egyptian food with some generic options as well. The falafel is sooo tasty! Everything just works! Also, the presentation, it’s piece of art. Coffee is also good. The vibe is very comfortable - good place to hang out and work a bit
Was confused trying to find the location and somewhat concerned by the number of reviews, but once I got un-lost I found delicious food in a beautiful space! Salmon toast was tangy and tasty and the coffee was smooth.
Delicious cafe that's a must try! Love it's part of the new community center. Various seating available with tables, couches, and long table for cafe laptop friendly working with free wifi. Everything I've tried so far has been really tasty! The Salmon open face toast was one of the best I've ever had, the chickpea confit was flavorful, and the drink elixirs like pomegranate mint are good!
Cute little spot with an amazing selection of different foods and drinks! The ambience was perfect to hang out there to do some work/catch up with friends. The staff was also super friendly - I asked them to make me their favorite toast dish, and it was a delicious combination of flavors!
Cute spot, pretty chill, food is decent
Great place, very cozy and atmospheric. Service at the best level. The food is delicious, large portions and affordable price. The guys prepared oatmeal for our child, although it was not on the menu. Very kind people. We will definitely come back again and again. And definitely I recommend you to visit this amazing place. It's also great for bringing your laptop and working in a great environment ♥️
Delicious/fresh food (especially the chicken sandwich) and comfortable and cozy atmosphere.
The J and R as well as the salmon toast were superb. Chickpea confit and the pom mint lemonade also fantastic

I’m sure, like me, you’re seeing the reviews and thinking “sure…5 stars… but for Bayview” which doesn’t really mean 5 stars by San Francisco standards. But after trying this place… I’m in love. Food is fresh and full of flavor. And their sandwiches use bread from Rize Up bakery. The owners really put the their love into the food. Harissa chicken sandwich was my fav. The carrot coriander hummus that came with the mezza platter tastes heavenly, perfectly tart, with a touch of sweetness. It seems overall it’s been more difficult to find great food in SF since COVID. Hungry Cafe is an exception. Have not tried their coffee yet.
Our family had a great time at Hungry Cafe. We snacked on delicious food while our daughter played at the community center outdoor playground. Parking was easy too! We had a Rosemary Cortado, Frittata with side salad, chickpea confit, baked cheese and spicy avocado salmon toast. The crackers and carrot coriander hummus were also delicious. The service was really friendly too.
Delicious food with lots of good flavors and interesting fusion dishes. I love that they include bread from Rize Up bread with their sandwiches. I do wish the sandwich had some more protein on it but the flavor was really good
My team ordered catering from Hungry Cafe and everyone raved about the food! Mo was super responsive to our outreach and he and his colleague Ryan went above and beyond to ensure our group had a great experience. The Southeast Community Center is also a beautiful space filled with awesome local nonprofit organizations and other community-oriented people. 10/10 would recommend!
The Hungry Cafe is an amazing addition to the Southeast Community Center. I love coming here when I'm working remotely and grabbing lunch at the cafe. The food is always fresh, well-prepared, and healthy. I love the quiches and other quick meals. The staff is very friendly and warm, including Ryan and the co-owner Mo. The ambiance is very welcoming, and I love all the natural light and openness. It's a great spot to grab lunch when you're busy working!
Amazing food and atmosphere, the service was especially incredible they were about to close and had put away a lot of the food where most places would have turned us away and Jo Jo stepped up and made us the most amazing chicken sandwiches then gave us 2 warm apple pastries. So kind and generous , it was an experience I won’t forget!!

Airport style food—anything hot cooked in microwave, super basic flavors. Weak service without any personality; makes an AI look like the life of the party. Could be a good, quiet place to work with a hot drink, but that’s it. I read the positive reviews, which is why I went there. I’m glad those people had a good experience, but when we went, it was nothing like that. I was embarrassed to take my family there.
