The Red Tail San Francisco Reviews
Always a good time. East street parking. Rotating wine/ beer list. Attentive and friendly bar staff. Patrons are chill and this place is Dog friendly! 🐾❤️ belly rubs and sips. Love it. There’s also happy hour! Been here a handful of times and will be back! Sit outside and soak up the sun. Evenings trivia with prizes.
Carefully crafted and curated. Love the selective yet approachable draft list. Also, not your typical craft beer bar in that the wine selection is equally curated. So feel free to bring your non beer drinking friends. Intimate decor and seating. The kinda place you can spin up a convo with the staff and still enjoy your company. Kudos! Will def be back. Ps. Read the description of items on the menu. It’s all really well thought out.

Went for a quick brew on NYE. Friendly staff and great beer options! Definitely will go back. They pour heavy… (keeps customer retention, you got me)
Loved loved my experience here! Randomly saw that they were doing bingo night and our group came here after dinner ready to play! The hostess was such a funny MC calling out all the numbers. Our table won some great prizes too. My stomach was a little full so I assumed that they had some fernet but was offered a free shot of underberg instead. It was not bad for being free had almost that same fernet feeling in the tummy. Such a fun vibe as neighborhood bar and I’ll will be back again.
Great local bar with both beer and wine! Very light bc of the big windows (no offense to the extra dark bars in this neighborhood but in the summer I need sunshine). Bartender was very friendly and accommodating, I'll definitely be back.
This awesome place is both a neighborhood gem AND worth going out of your way for! Great local beers on tap, and the extensive wine list really shines with wines you won’t find elsewhere. The barman Michael knows his stuff, whether it’s a crisp Slovenian white, a complex Pet Nat orange wine, or a juicy Chianti. He creates such a welcoming atmosphere and treats new patrons like long-time regulars. Highly recommend The Red Tail!
First time going there since the last place. I liked it very much. Beer list is very well out together, not repeating most other places. Wine list is impressively diverse. Bartender turning some vinyls was a plus. Looking forward to going back.
Great selection of wine and beers. Friendly staff.
Great wine selection, beer selection is well-rounded and not eight different hazy pale ales. Even have cheap, small bar snacks - something I always want that no one offers! We’ll be back.
Came for trivia which was a lot of fun. Great beer and wine selection. They also showcase art from local artists. The space is great, lots of seating and great lighting. Will def be back
My favorite wine bar. I go for trivia every Tuesday and when I can other times. Super friendly staff. Great wine and beer selection.
Fun little spot. Trivia Tuesdays at 730 PM, nice setting with good beer selection. Indoor/outdoor seating, neighborhood pub vibes but clean and inviting
Joel the bartender was awesome, had great recommendations, and the vibe was great. Good selection and the patrons were friendly. Great beer and wine choices I will definitely be back!
Best new place in the neighborhood! Great selection of drinks. Awesome music. Friendly staff. And a super fun trivia night on Tuesdays hosted by Yael!
Great bar, super chill, awesome beer and wine selection. Owner operated, and they care enough to make sure that you're having a good time, without getting in your business.
Lovely craft beer and wine bar, with decent selection on draft and by the glass. They also do bar snacks and cheese boards! Friendly service, and they also allow dogs inside. A must visit!
Such a great bar! They have really interesting and great beer/wine available and the staff are all so friendly and knowledgeable.

Have visited a couple times so far. Love the rotating selection of beers - very tasty and different kinds of beers (it's not just IPAs!). Had a delicious English bitter from Ghost Brewery in West Oakland. Parklet is perfect for a happy hour or after dinner drink. They are working up to having some light food - but that hasn't started quite yet.

Great wine selection by the glass and snacks, but the cheese offering was very basic though. Great service! Music quite loud early on, then mellows and it’s really nice.

I don’t normally write bad reviews, but I think this is well deserved. I was genuinely looking forward to visiting Red Tail—I had met the owner a few years back and remembered it as a friendly, relaxed spot. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t reflect that. When we arrived, I asked about sitting at a table the bartender had just wiped down, and he responded a bit defensively. I tried to make friendly conversation, mentioning I’d been there when it was more of a wine bar, but he quickly handed us menus and pointed to the beer list on the screen without much engagement. The bar was quiet—maybe a third full—and quite dark, so we used a phone light to read the menu. Mid-conversation, the bartender suddenly called out from across the bar telling us to turn off the light because it was “in his eyes.” We were seated at least ten feet away, and the way he approached it felt unnecessarily aggressive. When I explained we were just trying to read the menu, he insisted we were texting. We got up and left after that. The whole interaction felt odd and surprisingly tense. I’m not sure what was going on, but it made the space feel unwelcoming. I had high hopes, but I don’t think I’ll be returning. This happened April 24th around 9:30, in the event the owner wants to adress this.
