Tinto San Francisco Reviews
A neat, family-run Persian restaurant. The owner is a hoot, we got in late, so there weren't many tables taken and he had the time to chat. We ordered lamb and stew, and Persian tea. Everything was great, and reasonably priced. We will be back.
Walked by here and it smelled delicious so we walked in for dinner. Luckily we followed our noses as the food was delicious! We got the Mahi Polo pictured as well as the lamb shank. Both were great and I highly recommend!
Delicious food and wine. Lovely ambiance, friendly and gracious owner and host. I'm delighted to have found this place, and can't wait to be back!
So glad to see this hidden gem reopen! Intimate wine bar perfect for a cozy night cap. We melted right into the sunken sofa in front but the formal dining area looks just as inviting for the menu revamp the owner says is coming next week.
Astonishing! This place is so romantic and amazing!!! I highly recommend it!

This was a delightful experience! Highly recommend if you want to experience fine dining in a homey, but elegant atmosphere. The cocktails are delicious and the Burrata was fab. The service was top notch. 5/5 stars
A lovely bar and restaurant with authentic persian dishes. If u want a chill night with good wines and great food this is your spot!
This was a lovely last minute date spot before a movie! We were able to get seating right away, and the service was spectacular. We ordered two of the pasta dishes and a glass of wine - all of it exceeded our expectations, and we were disappointed to have to rush out of there so quickly to catch the movie. It also seems like a great spot to go with a group - plenty of seating and no wait. The owner was lovely, we look forward to going back soon to explore more of their wine menu!
Food was excellent, the proprietor is easily one of the most charasmatic and hostipable people, insisted on feeding us more than we ordered and kept coming back to top up our drinks. Highly recommend the kashke bademjan
What a hidden gem! Kind and helpful staff, great wine selection, and delicious bites. The Kashk Eh Bademjan is incredible, as is the sun dried pasta dish. We ordered 4 dishes total and we were stuffed! This local spot could use more folks stopping by. Give them a shot and enjoy a wonderful evening!
We had an amazing persian food, one of the best one in the bay area. We had different stews and lamb shanks, both were perfectly cooked. The saffron rice was amazing. We will be coming back here.
Very tasty food! the owner is the nicest person who you can tell really cares about his food and customers. Absolutely will be coming back for more lamb
We had such a delightful time at Tintos! It was a wonderful surprise to find this Persian gem on Valencia Street. The menu is unique, exciting, and full of delicious flavors you don’t often come across in the neighborhood. Everything we tried was thoughtfully prepared and so tasty. Tintos really stands out as a special addition to Valencia Street, and we’re so glad we discovered it. Highly recommended!
This was first time being to a wine bar with Persian food. The host recommended great wines to us. We had it with a great Mezze platter. All the dips were amazing, especially the Kashke Bademjoon and the garlicky yogurt dip. The owner was very warm and friendly. We had a good time! :)

Want home-cooked Persian food? Good wines? Actually, great wine? Loved.

Tinto is an interesting experience and I don't mean it in a negative way. As you walk in , you get that feeling of being in somebody's living room. The place is nicely decorated and a blend between homey and a bit of kitsch. We happen to sit on the front sofa which is rather cool as you can watch the world go by while enjoying some morsels of good food. We kept our indulgence at a minimum and ordered two appetizers and one main. I really enjoyed the roasted eggplant dish and the cold meze platter. For the main we had the beef stew. Mixing the rice pilaf with the stew and salad brought out the flavour of that dish. Cute place and nice service.
A cute place to have a glass of wine, chat with a friend, connect with someone you just met or just simply watch the busy world goes by. Food is decent and the owner is friendly..

Very lovely place to have a glass of wine. A bonus is the Persian food. I had a split pea stew and it tasted very homemade. Very nice presentation too.

The spices they used were not right. The chicken kabab had mustard in it, and that is the furthest thing from authentic Persian flavor. Absolutely zero flavor of saffron or turmeric. The barg was the thinnest I’ve ever seen, more like beef jerky. Portions are small. If you want authentic Persian food, do not go here. It’s unfortunate because the place is really cute and the staff is nice.
This is the worst Persian food we ever ate. It's possibly the worst restaurant we've ever been to. The lamb shank was not fresh, to say the least. The Gheimeh was stale and old. The rice was also dried out and obviously not fresh. The kashk-bademjoon we're not sure what it was, but didn't have any kashk. The service was extremely slow, mostly because it was a one man show. We're used to high prices in SF, but this was egregious. After spending over 100 per person, we went back home to eat something because the food was so terrible.
