Tony's Cable Car San Francisco Reviews
Love this place. So friendly and highest quality curly fries! Always perfectly cooked.
Nice "retro" atmosphere with very good burgers and shakes! This is shakeshack in the 1980s!
Came here after an ER visit, and it was so comforting. The Filipino lady at the front was SO sweet, and the food was really good. I got the fish and chips, which for $11 was honestly a hell of a deal in this economy. I’ve still got like 4 days worth of French fries to work through 😂 the fish part was delicious- not heavy and greasy at all, which can be hard to do. And the banana malt?? Omg. So good. And $4! The vibes were immaculate, I think especially because of that lady at the front. Everyone was chatting with other folks in line and goofing around, it was just a great energy.
Grilled chicken sandwich special was great. As expected. The chicken sandwich was hot, tender and flavorful. They gave me waaay more curly fries than I wanted. The chocolate malt was a bit different than most places but still great. Service took a bit longer than I expected. I ate there and there was ample seating inside and outside. All the tables were clean. Would recommend if you want good diner food.
If you want a classic Americana burger and fries in a diner vibe — this is one of the best. No frills burger joint that hits with all the classics and the prices are some of the best for SF hands down. Also one of the only places you can find a soft serve cone (weirdly rare!) Been here about 3x already since I moved to San Francisco they have a nice selection of food on the menu at great prices and tastes good they have a cozy atmosphere and wonderful customer service one of my favorite go to places to eat in San Francisco
I just moved from Toronto, Canada and this was the first place I tried and I gotta say that the food was truly amazing. I got the chicken tenders with onion rings and I didn't think it was possible but I actually was not able to finish the food, I had to take it home. The portions were amazing compared to what the prices are. Definitely my new favorite spot and very close to my university.
Not sure about the actual food here but the menu looks appetizing. Giving the establishment five stars simple because of the awesome neon sign that caught my eye from the street and caused me to cross over for a closer look. In a world and community that seems to embrace technology in all the latest forms this old school bended glass pipe and electronically excited gases stood out. Cannot wait to go back at night and see this beauty illuminated and showing off its colors. Will absolutely want to try a burger or hot dog then.
Ever since the first time I've gone to this place I have always been blown away by not only the proportions but the wonderfully tasting food! It's one of those places you drive by Lenny of times before you actually take the time to stop and eat at. Let me assure you, once you do actually set aside the time for me like this wonderful Eatery, you will not be let down by the overall experience in the slightest! Friendly staff, they always allow me to pick and choose smaller portions of what I want so that it can have a variety. Clean establishment, makes it really feel comfortable eating there even though it's small but cozy. Oh man is this food just amazing! So glad I stopped here, definitely going to stop here again and again and again!
Keep it in perspective.. this is a hole in the wall. Burgers, dogs fries, milkshake and the like. The price is fair, the portions are large and the people who work there are nice. It's not gourmet or artisanal or even special. It's good burgers served out of a tiny cafe with plastic seats bolted to the floor. If you're into that kind of thing, you won't be disappointed.
I had to try this place since it's been around for so long. I got the quarter pound burger which was okay, but I wanted to say where's the beef? The Patty was so thin it was practically non-existent. I doubt it weighed a quarter pound. A van pulled up while I was there that said Golden Gate fresh and organic meat on the side, so I have to give them credit for that.
We ordered two cheeseburgers, a chicken sandwich, curly fries and a fried burrito. The burgers were good, not great, but good. They didn't taste frozen so that's a plus. The tomatoes on one were a bit soggy. The chicken sandwich was definitely a frozen patty and the sandwich was ok, based on the feedback from my kid. The curly fries were perfect and a generous serving! The fried burrito was literally one of those frozen burritos fried lol I should have known. I was thinking chimichanga but I was way off. It was ok though, I mean, if you like those frozen burritos. I think they are a bit pricey for what you get. They should remove some items from the menu and keep it simple with focusing on their burgers. Just my opinion.
I truly don’t understand their ordering system. There are two ladies sitting behind a window who won’t talk to you I ordered only a soda on the computer and it took them 20 minutes to “make” my soda I truly don’t understand how that happens
