Casa Teresa San Jose Reviews
Wow. Amazing and delicious authentic Mexican food. The staff here are very nice and happy to help. The salsa is spicy and amazing. If you like spicy foods, I absolutely recommend this restaurant. The food is amazing and cheap. It's very small and cozy, so you'll feel like family here. I can't say enough good stuff about this restaurant. It is 100% worth going here.
Step inside and you will not be disappointed. The service is friendly. I'm always impressed when the owner honestly wants to know if you enjoyed yourself. If you're tired of the same ol' assembly line food, stop here. You'll get a meal that was prepared for you like you live there.
This place always has good food especially considering the prices. The only thing I really wish for is a little more flavor in their food. The service is always great though, and the chips are always fresh. I'll definitely be back.
Nice traditional Mexican food. Great service. Reasonable price and good portions and menu selection.
I used to come here all of the time but work schedules got in the way. Just went there tonight and the place was packed! The owner Jesse always takes care of everybody in the dining room with a lightning fast reaction. Your drink will never run dry and your chip basket will never be empty! This is the gem of the neighborhood and the food is top notch with a down home feel. I'm glad I came back and looking forward to many more return visits!
My family and I have been coming here for years. The food is always great and the chips and mild salsa are delicious. The owner frequently waits tables himself and is very friendly- He remembers us as regulars when we visit.
Great food. Had the chili relleno!! Awesome!! The best I've ever had. Jesse the owner was there. Took great care of us. I come in every time I'm in San Jose!!
Jesse was welcoming and friendly. Shared the story of his business. Same spot since 1994. Food was great. Carne Asada was cooked to perfection.
We got the enchilada plate for about $10. I got Chile Verde burrito for about $10. Coffee for $4.00. All the food was delicious. Coffee was good too. Burrito was HUGE. You can split it with someone. Flavor was awesome. I'd definitely come back. Server was patient with us and informative. Very nice atmosphere.
Small restaurant, three tables, mainly take out. The food was quite good! Portion sizes were also good. I had the Kung Pao Shrimp & Kung Pao Squid. Though both were delicious, I preferred the seasoning of the Squid. Nice level of heat without it overpowering the taste. It is busy! There may be delays, but it IS worth the wait. I will be back to try other items on the menu.
Absolutely delicious! The Mongolian Beef was perfectly cooked with a rich, savory sauce, and the fried rice was flavorful and satisfying. The Chow Mein had the perfect balance of tender noodles and crispy veggies. Great portions and fantastic flavors all around. Highly recommend!
Great lunch specials! The hot & sour soup is fire! The restaurant itself is small. There is only one large table for a big group.
I've been going to Casa Teresa for it's wonderful food for years. It's my parents' favorite restaurant. Jesse is very accommodating and efficient.
Excellent real mexican food, clean and friendly, try the beef fajitas with wacamole on the side....... the best chips and salsa
The chicken salad was a but chintzy with the chicken portion but it tasted good. My kid refused to eat his quesadilla and rice but we took it home and I ate it later and it was delicious.
The food is as great as usual, the service was friendly. I popped in to pick up an order and was warmly welcomed. I've missed visiting and seeing my friends there
We had a company luncheon, this food is amazing, I'm not a fan of Mexican food. Everything was fresh, the salsa, guacamole, enchiladas, quesadillas, outstanding! My dinner will here!
Jesse is amazing him and his employees. Thank You Al Pastor is amazing! Carne Asada has great flavor! Salsa is very good!
My favorite restaurant. Fast service, great food. Super nice people. Special requests are never a problem. Jesse even remembers our favorites.
Great Mexican food, I like that you can get plates with several different options on it. I go for the enchilada, taco, and burrito plate. The chips and salsa are nice also.
No frills no fanciness no paid for atmosphere just decent food at a decent price.
This place is great. The food was delicious and the service was great. Try this place. You won’t be disappointed.
We’ve been going here for years. Food is fresh and have always left satsfied and happy with food and service. Love the flan, too.
I come here often to dine with my dear homeowner. The fish tacos are my favorite!
My favorite Mexican restaurant. Prices are very reasonable, service is great and the food is quite tasty!
The food was great, the server was very nice, and our order was ready very fast. I will recommend this restaurant to everyone!
Highly recommend the orange chicken! Food overall was delicious and service was great. Will be returning!
The lunch special is a great value, comes with an entree, both fried rice and lo mein, and a soup, all taste well. I love that it’s also available on weekend. Also recommend their sichuan beef, it’s sweet and crunchy, very tasty. My son loved it!
This was my first time trying this place and it was an amazing. The food is very tasty and the customer service is awesome. One of the employees helped me carry my food to my car. Great customer service. I will be coming back. Thank you for making my first visit a memorable one.
The staff are really friendly and get to know you even on our first visit. We have been back several times since discovering Hometown Taste.
I like the food here. It's not very oily like other Chinese restaurant. It doesn't have MSG either. Price is very affordable. I'll definitely buy food here again.
I ordered the beef chow fun and it was excellent. Price was also very reasonable and will come back again
Excellent food and great service. I strongly recommend.
I am so glad I found this Restaurant “ Taste of Home” catch my eye, I drove all the way there and the food is so delicious + I support small business. The Lady at front she is super nice. I love this place. You should try it.
I ordered the beef chow fun, and the beef was so tender and flavorful! The bok choy was crunchy, and the whole dish was perfect on a cold, rainy day. The service was fast too.
Hometown Taste is a welcome addition to this local shopping center. My wife and I have dined there a couple of times and have enjoyed the variety of dishes we’ve tried. They have good food. The owners are very friendly and do a great job of making you feel welcome. The service is great as most people order take out, so you get their attention. It’s a small place and not really setup as a true dine-in restaurant. The decor is simple…nothing fancy. But, we go for the food. We have found their prices to be reasonable. We’ll definitely continue to support this local restaurant. Please give them a try.
My wife and I have been searching for a good Chinese restaurant nearby, and we came across a post about this one. We ordered Orange Chicken, Pork Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork, soup, and an egg roll. I can confidently say that the food was delicious! The flavors were great, and the portions were generous. We’ve found our new favorite spot!
I recently dined at Hometown Taste, a new restaurant nestled in the Santa Teresa Shopping Center, and it was a delightful experience. The curry beef was rich and aromatic, with tender pieces that melted in my mouth. The egg rolls were crispy and packed with flavorful fillings, making them a perfect starter. The staff were warm and attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere that made the meal even more enjoyable. I highly recommend giving Hometown Taste a try if you're in the area.
This is a good Mexican restaurant. Been coming here a long time. The one thing they have never improved on is the service. It's slow. Really no excuse for it, but they leave you hanging to order, drink refills, and especially the check. The slow service cost them 1 star. Really wish they could get on the ball. Still no improvement on speed of service. I just don't get it. The place can be empty and the service is still slow. I hate to saying, but if you have limited time, avoid this place.
Takeout order. Bought the steak burrito. Was a very good burrito. I will definitely return as their foods seems very good. I would not make it a date night as the in-house seating is small and looks like a fast food restaurant.
Really good food and service. It will get crowded on weekends in the evening but pretty good food. The owner Jessie is a really good person and if they don't have what you want, just ask they are very accommodating.
We love Casa Theresa and have for 10 years now. We love the food and we come back again and again. A small place that the neighborhood loves. WE particularly love the shrimp quesadilla. The owner, Jesse, is super friendly and he and his staff work hard to bring your food quickly. Also kid friendly and our boys love the quesadilla or the carne asada burrito. We have to be careful not to fill up on the fresh crispy homemade chips and spicy salsa that flows. Try it!
The food is really good here. The only reason why I won't go back is because the waiter said they did not have a restroom for customers. That's very bad!
The food was delicious. The restaurant itself is fairly small but cozy. The owner is the only one waiting on tables and he makes you feel welcome and comfortable.
I would give it 5 stars if the prices were the same as most Mexican restaurant serving the same food. Just a little higher than expected but really good food. Worth a try.
We've been going to Casa Teresa for 25 years now, and it's one of our favorite restaurants. A comfortable place with good food and friendly service.
The food was delicious. A simple storefront, family run and with good service. I used a Groupon for 20% off my first visit. I'm ready to go back!
My boyfriend and I ate dinner here recently and it was really good! It’s pretty small inside to dine in but it seems like most folks order takeout so seating wasn’t an issue for us. We both did the dinner special which included the soup of the day, an egg roll (vegetarian), pork fried rice or chicken chow mein, and two choices of entrees for $16.99 each! The fried rice and chow mein were both soo flavorful. For entrees, I got honey walnut shrimp and sweet and sour pork and my boyfriend got the kung pao shrimp and beef with garlic sauce. The honey walnut shrimp was perfectly crispy and delightful - that was definitely my favorite. The portion sizes were large and plentiful so we split everything so we could try it all. 😆 We’ll definitely be back to eat more of this new gem in the neighborhood!
I really love the restaurant they were nice and the food came out really good and the smell and the shrimp and chicken kinda have no taste but I give the food 8 out of 10 I will come back to this store
This place has great service with food that always comes out quick. The price is a bit high but they always serve complementary chips and salsa once you sit down. The carnitas are good fall off the meat but the flavors don't give me a flavor I can remember the next day. Good restaurant not bad.
Dine in or pick up. Either way, you’ll get warm comfort food with great salsa and chips. My favorite dishes are chili verde and carnita platters.
I definitely would not go back. On the positive side it is a nice looking restaurant and there is a extensive menu. However, our food was tasteless. Even the free salsa was watered down and tasteless. My friend had two enchiladas and I had a chicken burrito. Tasteless. Also, our waitress was highly unmotivated. She seemed like she was having a bad day. Finally I have to add that at 12:30 pm on a Tuesday we were the only people in the restaurant. That should have told me something was wrong with this place.
Just needs flavor and more food for the price. Had the fish taco plate, it was ok. There’s no love in the food, the toppings needed to be cut down more and the fish taste like it only had pepper in it.
We have lived in the area for many years. We went there recently for the first time. My wife and I do cook our own Mexican food, so we are very picky when it comes to eating out at Mexican restaurants. First, the service is great! Everyone is attentive. Past that, the food is just OK. I had Chili Relleno and Chicken Enchilada. Both were OK, with bland sauce. the rice and beans were average. It tasted like warmed up frozen Mexican food from the grocery store... Mexican food for white folks... Yes, I'm white... but I know what good Mexican food tastes like, and this is NOT IT!
Ive eaten at over 30 taquerias in the bay area and this one is on the low end of the spectrum. The quesadilla tasted microwaved and had NO flavor. Tee tacos were ok, but the meat was dry and tasted burnt. Not worth the 11 dollars, and the stomach ache i got...
Chips from a bag. Sweet salsa. Small portions. No indigestion. While I was there, a lady came in for takeout of a larger order; glad somebody likes it.
The portion to dollar amount does not add up. Wish we can upload an image to share. The chile verde was salty, the sauce was thin. The beans and Spanish rice had no flavor and the serving was next to nothing.
Let me paint you a picture of this disaster. I waltzed into Casa Teresa expecting a fiesta in my mouth, but what I got was a tragic tango of tastelessness. The guacamole tasted like they mashed up disappointment and regret, and the salsa was so bland it made my insides weep. Now, don't get me started on the service. I've seen sloths move faster than those waiters. I ordered a burrito, and it took longer to arrive than it does for a spaceship to reach Mars. When it finally graced my table, it looked like it had been through a war – a sad, limp tortilla barely holding on to its dignity. And let's talk ambiance. The decor made me question if the owner's taste buds had taken a permanent vacation. It was like a bad acid trip through a discount furniture store. I've seen better aesthetics in a junkyard. But the pièce de résistance? The margarita that tasted like they mixed it with toilet water and a splash of regret. I've had more refreshing beverages from a rusty faucet. In conclusion, Casa Teresa is a culinary catastrophe, a flavorless fiesta, and a place I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. Save your taste buds and run for the hills, my friend. This place is a sinking ship, and the rats have already abandoned it.
I am very upset, I ordered looking at prices on their me I in google maps and when I arrived the price was more than double!!! Just told that the owner already knows because people have complained! This is not ok.. fix this problem! Isn’t it illegal?? Didn’t feel like arguing with the poor girl so left, but this food better be good n this owner better refund my money!
Food was garbage for the second time coming sorry but yea an paid way to much for shrimp tacos to be disappointed
This is not authentic food, very blant and small portions. Salsa is salt w onions. Wine is keeping under is sink. Do yourself a favor and skip.
I gave them a one, only because the server used his gloves to protect his hands, from money, dirty dishes, handling baby chairs and putting his hand into his pockets. Not once did I see him wash his hands or change his gloves. This I do not understand…
One for the kind server. I ordered the chili relleno and enchilada. The enchilada was ok, not very flavorful. The relleno, unfortunately, was really bad. At first I thought it was the sauce, which was nothing like any sauce I've had in San Diego, Tijuana, Rosarito, Puerto Nuevo, or Guaymas. I believe they may add too much cumin and very little of much else. But after scraping that off I found the relleno to be discolored in parts of the breading, making it taste very bad. Loved the salsa though. Unfortunately it looks like I'll have to keep looking for a more authentic Mexican restaurant.
The worst tasting "Mexican " food ever. And portions are so small for the price it's unbelievable.
I read about this restaurant in nextdoor and tried it today. We ordered sizzling rice soup which tasted like water with very less vegetables.vegetable chow mien is ok not so great. I ate much better Kung pao chicken in other restaurants .vegetable and shrimp is also tasteless. No salt in any of the dishes. Taste is also below average.
We ordered several dishes and all were terrible. The chow mein was pale and bland, the Mongolian beef was a strange texture of beef, potstickers were cold and no dipping sauce, pork fried rice was also bland. Will never order from this restaurant again.
The worst Chinese food I've ever had. Beef and Broccoli, Cashew Chicken and Honey Prawns. All three dishes had plenty of rice. Almost no beef in the first dish, very little chicken in the 2nd and several pieces of prawns. The food didn't taste good and on top of all I got an upset stomach.
