La Costa del Sol San Jose Reviews
I love the pupusa plate and the torta de asada plus the agua de frutas, service is excellent.. if you guys have appetite for Salvadorian food this is the right place to come.
Good pupusas and Salvadorian Tamales, good prices,so many salvadorian choices and the best is the good costumer service they give it to you so i dont know how so many complains here about custumer service...5 starts from me
I got the horchata ala mexicana nd camarones ala diabla plate and let me tell u that was very good..well worth is for my 1st time coming here.
Really good flavor tamale and papusa are good and good customer service to me salsa was perfect to me we will be back.
I ordered 20 pupusas by phone. When i got there the customer service was very professional the pupusas were great!! 😊
I drive 11 miles just to eat pupusas and tamales here. Every rime my food is delicious and noone bothers me if I want to sip on my coffee, eat my tamales and read a book.
This restaurant came up in a search for a Mexican Restaurant near the San Jose Animal Care Shelter--and though seemingly mostly an El Salvadorian place and not Mexican (there was a bit of several kinds of Mexican and Central American food), it did not disappoint, quite the contrary, it was so delicious! I had enchiladas and my friend had pupusas--both were very tasty as were the rice and beans and salad/greens on the side were very fresh. Horchada was also good--it might have had more nutmeg(?) in it than I'm used to but it was a nice change. It's so nice when one stumbles on a place and it turns out to be a winner.
Best pupusas in the South Bay, hands down. I got the pupusas revueltas (pork, beans & cheese) and they were delicious. Excellent flavor, good combination of cheese-y bean-y goodness. Om nom nom. We also tried the tamales, and those were very savory. Probably the least dry tamale I have ever tasted, and it had a really juicy flavor to it. I thought that the meat/corn balance was really good, and it is also probably the best tamale that I have had to this date. I recommend the chicken one over the pork, but both were excellent. All in all, this place is delicious, but it is possible that you could have a bad experience service-wise if you don't speak spanish. At first, I thought that our waitress was a little stand-offish, but she admitted that her english just wasn't very good when I asked her to explain one of the menu items, and since I speak spanish, I just asked her to explain it to me that way and then we were good to go from there. :)
I really enjoyed my dinner at La Costa Del Sol. I ordered pupusas De queso con loroco. (Cheese and a Salvadoran yummy herb) They where very fresh and delicious. I try a lot of different places that have pupusas and this is my new favorite. I was with my parents and they ordered some with beans and some with squash. They had the same reaction.
I came here with my girlfriend and her brother for lunch on Easter Sunday. I got the lunch meal where I got a taco and enchilada with bean and rice . Also when I checked into yelp they gave me a free pupusa It does say the free item must be used Monday-Thursday and spend at least $10. The person at the counter allowed me to use it, so I got a free pupusa. My girlfriend got a free item and so did her brother. The carne asada tacos are really good. But the pupusa was definitely one of the tasty food items I had. I was sad we didn't eat in the restaurant and had to take it to go so I couldn't try their hot sauce. I had tapatio instead.
Thank you Jenni And Luisa have a Great Service And Kind full Food Was 😀 Amazin well cook and Delicious 😋 I will definitely come back Prices very Good
They do not have a lot of choices from the menu. The service is slow but the wait is worth it. The food is pretty good
The food here is very good. My breakfast chorizo burrito was excellent. I'm very thankful.
Always delicious pupusas! If we cannot get homemade pupusas we come here! Love them!!!

Delicious food and wonderful service. If you are in the area you need to stop by and eat. We enjoyed every bite!
Delicious & Satisfying! The food here is fantastic! My breakfast chorizo burrito was excellent, and I’m so grateful for such a tasty meal.
We order from La Costa Del Sol often for our office meetings. The food is always super flavorful and there is always plenty of it. Our team requests this place often because the pupusa are so delicious. The cabbage that goes on top of the pupusa is crispy and full of flavor and their salsas are very delicious as well. Highly recommend for corporate and inhouse dining. They've done a nice job of remodeling the restaurant and offering some new menu items which is a plus.
The food was delicious, especially the chicken the seasoning was perfect and the chicken was tender and juicy. If you are looking for Colombian food, I highly suggest visiting La Costa Del Sol. We definitely be going again when we are back in the area.

Super delicious pupusas, hand made to order. Prices are reasonable, and they have a variety of dishes in their menu, in case you want something else. My favorite is the steak and pupusa combo, its so freaking good!! I give 4 stars because of the wait time. I've been there on 3 separate occasions at different times of the day, and each time have had to wait 30+ mins for our order. I'd recommend calling ahead and placing an order if you dont want to wait
Clean new shopping center. Food was good . the grade meat could improve as in most mexican spots. Always make sure u ask anywhere to throw the tortillas on the grill…tortillas doradas a la plancha puez… service was excellent you can tell they are sincere. Bathroom clean. Murals were cool though i smirk when i see the Aztec or Mayan pyramids in Mezican spots cause they going down!! I sleep in them when i go to Mexico and pray in Hebrew .There is no God but our God of Israel. I kno of no other God. Oh and salsa was excelente. .besoz a todos pero a los que no les gustan los perros… .. no Besoz
Parking is probably the biggest challenge with the drive thru Starbucks in the same parking lot. The papusas were my favorite (steak with beans and cheese). Price was pretty reasonable, which is always a plus.
This place has delicious carne asada tortas and fries. I placed my ordered to go, the food was prepared in minutes. There is plenty of parking. The atmosphere was nice and quiet. The service was good . I was very satisfied and full after this big sandwich. Food coma for sure. 😁

Came here today cause I was craving Mexican food, and being half Mexican it's hard to look for good food that's authentic. I came here to this location cause I'm getting my car fixed at the dealership that's down the street. I'm very pleased with the food, tastes great. I ordered the breakfast burrito, was awesome. A bit small, but I'm not trying to get fat either. So it was perfect. I'm sure they have bigger sizes if you asked them. Service was good, but nobody comes and asks, "how is your meal?" It's okay, still willing to come back for the food. Over all it's a good spot if anyone's in the area. Mexican hole in the wall, always has the best food. Hands down.

Food is great and service has improved since COVID started. Take out food is ready within the allotted time given and is packed very well.
Third time tells. When I want a simple bean burrito I will go elsewhere. Even when I specify Mucho frijoles there has always been one measly spoon of beans so I'm basically adding my own beans to it when I get home. The cooks are either cheap or just don't know what a bean burrito is. They get 3 stars because the carne asada is O.K.
I have been here twice. The first time they took a long long time to bring the food out. I came a second time because my girl friend liked the food. They got my order wrong, then they brought second time and wasn't cooked right. Not coming back, wait is too long.

Very slow service. The food is good, but we always wait a very long time, even for just coffee. If the service doesn't improve, I know you will be forced to close the restaurant soon. Si fuera el servicio mas rapido, tuvieran mucha mas clientela. Toda la gente dice lo mismo de este Lugar.
Order 2 breakfast burritos to go, asked the lady for only chorizo potatoes and eggs. My husband picked up and the burrito has beans rice cilantro onions eggs and chorizo. Very disappointed as it was a waste of money, I don’t even like beans in my asada burritos.
Food took about an hour to come out, they forgot some of our food items, they took so long to bring us bottled water. The food was alright, the tacos were small and I had to keep asking for things they didnt bring us. They seem understaffed. There is no spicy salsa. Do not reccomend it, will not be coming back.
The pupusas where good but the service was terrible, I sat on the table waited like 10 minutes to be helped, so i had to go order at the register., i didn't get chips at my table and everyone else did, and the cashier didn't want to give me hot sauce until i saw it on the fridge and pionted at it. She was very discourteous and gave ne a bad look.
Sincerely, I love the Pupusas. I think that they have to put a little more effort in the orders that we do. If the place want to get more clients and they don't lose the actually clients like me. They have to get the orders correctly. I paid for one service, and I don't said that give me food free. I don't know what happened with the sauce and the cheese in my order.
Way too slow to be worth the wait. Waiting to pickup food that should have been ready when I got here. Good looks and smells great, the pupusaa are made to order do can take time once ordered. It appears they didn't even start my order until I got here.

If you like mega freaking spicy Latin food and don't care to taste the food.... Then this is the place for wicked spicy cuisine. Not for me. So you gotta ask them to tone it down. They don't cotton to that suggestion. They looked at me as some sort of wind. Maybe I am. Service is slow anytime. Busy or not.

The food and drinks are great! The service is horrible! I guess the bad slow service is just that, part of the Salvadorian service and hospitality... And i'm Salvadorean!! "Que barbaridad y pena!!!"
The pupusas are good. Service really bad and rest of the food specially chorizo and eggs. Bad . They ignore you . Bad bad.
If I could give them zero starts, I would definitive would... Worst service ever! They close at 9pm, I got there at 8:10 and the cashier said I couldn't eat there... That I had to take my order to go... I'm sure you can take my order... Make my food... And I could eat in less than 50mints
This place has horrible service my husband and I waited a half hour to be waited on and the people that came after us got waited on and got there food and we hot up and walked out, they need new employees this service has been happening over 5 months ago and still has not been fixed. I really hope your employees are worth it cuz your looking customers
Horrible service. They completly ignore you. And to top it off we waited 55 mins for 2 plates and the 3rd one came 30 mins later. Noapologies at all. What kind of customer service is that? We have been coming here for years, but it just seems to get worse everytime we come. Hope something changes.
GOOD FOOD BUT THE SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. EVERY TIME I THINK I NEED TO TRY IT I GET THE SAME RESULT, HORRIBLE SERVICE. THE WAITRESSES ACT LIKE YOUR INVISIBLE UNTIL THEY STOP GOSSIPING FOR WHAT SEEMS LIKE FOREVER. YOU CAN BE STANDING RIGHT AT THE COUNTER AND THEY JUST DON'T CARE. WHEN MY COMPANY ORDERS THEY ALWAYS GET THE ORDER WRONG, AND ALWAYS I MEAN ALWAYS FORGET SOMETHING. NO BUENO COSTA, I RATE YOU 1 STAR BECAUSE NOT TO MANY PLACES SELL PAPOOSAS AND YOUR SERVICE IS THE WORST.
Pretty sure their tamales are frozen! And they were dry af with a teaspoon of filling. Wouldn't recommend :(
i will never eat here again, a couple months ago my girlfriend and I ordered to go. Time wasn't an issue because I live in north SJ. I get there to pick up my food and the ambience is off, the great customer service I once knew was gone took 5 minutes so someone could ring me up. I got a bad feeling I mean all we ordered are pupusas, so I check my order in the car to find I had hand made Salvadorean Tortillas. I was bit excited because I hadn't had any in a long time. But, there's no frijoles no queso nada nothing just tortillas. I can't remembef who it was but I was livid, I told them what happened and do you know what they did? They took them back in the kitchen 20mins later I get my order I check it YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THAT THEY CUT OPEN ALL THE PUPUSAS AND STUFFED THEM AND THEN PUT THEM BACK TOGETHER LIKE A SANDWICH AND GAVE THEM TO ME. I WILL NEVER NEVER EVER COMEBACK AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO NO ONE. FOOD MAY TASTE GOOD BUT WHOEVER IS THERE WHEN THE OWNER IS NOT THEY NEED TO LEAVE or CLOSE THE RESTAURANT.
I have been waiting almost an hour for my order. I almost ready to stand up and leave! Their chips and salsa are either weight or in short supply. It was not enough for a party of 3. I received my food when I went to speak to the waitress unfortunately I wish I didn't. It was already cold. I will not be repeating here.
If I could give them 0 I would, every weekend on Sundays I've tried to place an order but they never answer the phone, so today I decided to drive and place an order in person, we arrived at 6pm and the ladies were very upset we were trying to place an order, I asked what time they close and she replied 7pm. I asked why couldn't I place my order since it is still an hour before they close and no one was able to answer. I will never come back, shame that this place have good food with really bad attitude employees. While I am parked outside the restaurant 3 people have been turned away. Not worth it.
I order 2 pupusas of chicharron con queso and 2 pupusas of shrimp and they were very small. Both the pork and shrimp pupusas didn't taste anything like pork or shrimp. One of the shrimp popusas had a hair in it! Never ordering from this place again!
Just checked my banking and they totally over charged me. I only bought and picked up 9 puapuas and should have paid with tax and tip $45…my statement shows $90.43 …smh never 👎🏽 will I do take out there again!!!!
My friend stops by the Salvadorian restaurant buys me a burrito de carne asada a humongous burrito. For $10 you get a big old carne asada burrito full of rice smeared with beans and garnished with beef. This is terrible I feel bad for my friend I'll rather make some rice and beans and go buy me some tortillas and a pound of meat and I eat for a couple days of the cost...
This place is absolutely nasty! The food has no flavor at all and the worst thing is I got a large horchata and it tasted like mold and rubber and the smell was incredibly nasty.
The food was terrible. The presentation was not good neither was the taste or texture. The service didn't speak one word of english and when it cam time to split the bill she didn't know how to so one person had to pay partial of one bill and pay 2 other bills. It made no sense

One of the worst meals of my life. I meant to order from La costa by Marina foods but accidentally ordered online from here. I didn't realize this place existed with a name almost identical but is a totally different restaurant. But okay, my mistake, I'll get to try a new place since I already made the order. My heart sank when I saw the reviews. And they're spot on. The burrito was TINY and I'm not exaggerating when I say it literally has a spoonful of meat in it. And that's in the ENTIRE burrito. What a sick joke. As for the horchata, a previous reviewer described it perfectly. It literally tastes like rubber. And I'd add in that it also tastes like rubber and dirty socks. It's AWFUL. I understand this isn't a Mexican restaurant and is South American and maybe this is a different style of horchata but it's awful and I'm pretty sure people are expecting sweet milky cinnamonly goodness and not this.. The quesadilla was pretty good. It's hard to mess up melting cheese in a tortilla. I also had an Al pastor taco which was really bad. But somehow had 4x the meat the burrito did? Explain that. Just don't go here. You've been warned.
If you are looking for authentic Salvadorian food, this place is NOT it. I am grateful to have eaten, but I will not be coming back to this place. I wanted some good authentic food and was sadly disappointed. Also, the woman that took our order was not friendly at all. We really didn't feel welcomed there.
