Nirvana Soul San Jose Reviews
Beautiful spot, great service. Happened to meet the owner and he let us know that he owns it with his wife and his sister. It is a black owned coffee shop and they have multiple locations in California. All of the art on the walls was made by local artists and is available to buy with all proceeds going back to the artist. Can’t wait to come again.
Perfect Americano, banana chai next time maybe. Small upstairs sitting, good amount downstairs and outside below, no standing tables. Just classy urban top notch art of African American modern musicians
We came here four times in 24 hours during our stay in San Jose and will likely be coming here another four times before we go! Incredible coffee hot or iced, lattes are flawless, service is so friendly. Love the vibe, all the art and music makes for such a welcoming environment. Can’t wait to visit again next year for our latte fix ☕️🔥
Amazing food. Got the bbq chicken and yams…loved it! Very affordable. Came out fast, super spacious area. Visiting here everytime I’m in the area.
This place is all above love! 💖 the coffee was excellent and very well balanced— It’s a very rare thing for me to describe my preference for less sweet and have that matched by taste and flavor. ;)
Friendly staff. Loved open mic night. Only one issue, I could not get a hold of their marketing director for private party/ catering services. I called, emailed and left several voicemails. She finally got back to me after I called the coffee shop asking for help getting a hold of her. She called last minute to say they couldn't accommodate us. We still met up ay Nirvana Soul and the staff was absolutely wonderful accommodating our group upstairs. We had a fun night that was good for all our souls! I can't wait to go back on another open mic night. The waffles were tasty, the coffee delish and the company and talent was inspiring and fun.
I stopped by this cool coffee shop today and it completely exceeded my expectations! The coffee was so delicious; perfectly smooth and rich, and the sweet potato pie was absolutely amazing. 🥧✨ The space itself is beautiful, filled with inspiring local art and good vibes, feel-good music. You can really feel the creativity in the atmosphere. I’m always in search of the best coffee in town wherever I travel, and this spot definitely makes the list! Such a wonderful experience overall. I’ll definitely be coming back. 💛
MUST VISIT Amazing little coffee shop!!! My iced vanilla latte was so good, and the sweet potato pie was DELICIOUS!!!! OMG SO GOOD! Always great music playing! I'm a flight attendant and always come here over starbucks and I bring my crew and get them hooked on this fantastic coffee shop!!!
One of my favorite coffee shops! It’s a black owned coffee shop which makes me like it even more. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. You can study here or have a coffee date. I usually get the celebration latte which automatically has expresso in it and it be hittingggg. There is outdoor seating as well. They also have a second floor in the coffee shop too. Definitely stop by here if you can!
Nirvana Soul is a great coffee place with a history. It used to be a location of an old Italian coffee shop, which used to have comedy shows and other types of shows on some of the evenings. They went out of business but wasn't required by the new owners who have built a beautiful and ethics location in downtown San Jose. Beautiful art and generally nice decoration. They have continued the tradition of different shows in the evening and the beautiful layout here makes it interesting place to hang out and work for area with a beautiful view of the downstairs. They recently are expanding to even more locations and I am very happy for them. I recommend this place especially when you are in the downtown area.
You should visit immediately. This independent coffee shop has a great vibe. The staff is super friendly. The selection of beverages is unique and fresh, not to worry though, you can still get a plain latte or drip coffee. There is a food selection available, both sweet and savory. There is beer on tap!!! Beer! There's outside seating if you are not quite ready to have coffee indoors. There is an upstairs loft for sitting, but also has a display of art from local artists. At the time of this writing, the staff told me that they are hopeful to begin their in-person community events soon. Open mic night, poetry, That sort of stuff. There is limited parking on 1st Street, but there is plenty of parking within a block. The takeaway point is to visit Nirvana Soul.
A place with positive vibes and good coffee. The servers are super friendly. Expect a crowd on weekends. Wish they had more seating space. Art work is lovely. The hazelnut mocha is a special and it’s good though a tad bit too sweet. They have a bunch of non dairy milk options. Their Golden waffles are nice albeit simply fresh and fluffy waffles served with syrup and butter. Their chocolate chip cookies are nice too.
Coffee temperature was not hot, not even warm. I asked to make it hot, the barista said he had to remade and seems not willing to do it. They don’t have microwave to reheat neither. I ended to drink the lukewarm sucky coffee in 48degree weather. Starbucks service is way better than this expensive unfriendly place. First and last time visit here.
Tried the matcha latte here, and honestly, it was a letdown. The flavor is bland and weak, almost like they used a teaspoon of matcha for a cup full of ice and milk. The drink tastes watery and lacks that rich, earthy matcha punch you’d expect—especially for the price. Feels like they’re being too cheap with the matcha. 4 g should be minimum per cup. If you’re a real matcha lover, this one’s a pass.
The hot chocolate was far from a cozy delight. It resembled lukewarm water more than anything else, lacking both warmth and flavor. My friend’s cappuccino fared a little better; she took a few sips before leaving behind half of the drink. Our verdict is that the place is charming, the baristas are friendly, and the drinks need some work. We would give it another try!
