Capas taco San Juan Capistrano Reviews
The chipotle garlic shrimp tacos were some of the best tacos I've ever eaten. So much flavor! This place really exceeded my expectations.
Capas Taco was so so good! Got the brisket bowl and I was blown away! The sauce, the quality of the meat, and experience was fantastic! Please go there and get the bowl!
Birria brisket tacos were life changing. Yellowtail ceviche was also delicious with nice large chunks of fish.
Ceviche
The Quesa Birria (Brisket) Tacos and the chips were delicious. Extra points for integrity: I forgot my video camera on the counter. The gal who had taken my order found it and returned it to me out at my table!
Their smoked carnitas tacos are to die for. I am a huge carnitas fan and can be pretty picky about them, but these were among my favorite I’ve ever had. Juicy, tender, and flavorful! The smoked birria was pretty good as well.

Tacos were good but way too greasy. It was dripping oil from the tacos. The rice was just white steam rice, not Mexican rice.

I tried their Birria Burrito. I thought it was too salty for my taste, I like the concept but it did not hit a spot. I will probably my go back to try other things on the menu but not the Birria Burrito.

I was excited to try this spot, unfortunately tacos are too greasy and burritos are just one note. Ceviches are okay but not your traditional citrusy expected flavor.
The tacos were decent but why use so much plastic for your packaging! It’s totally unnecessary - please consider compostable containers like the other stalls at the food hall!

Was hoping for some good Mexican food with a Little flair. But they fell short. Yellow tail ceviche was not very good with a flavor we couldn’t figure out. Ordered the cheesy Birria tacos they came out flat and soggy, couldn’t figure out how to pick them up to eat them. The best thing we had were the burnt end burritos, which were mediocre and the chips were honestly the highlight. And the guy that took our order at the counter wasn’t very friendly. With all the great Mexican food with in 1/4 mile of this place, i suggest going to one of them, El Campion or El Adobe.

The food is pretty bad. Ordered a burrito, which came out super greasy and was half pickled vegetables. The salsa must be fermented (hopefully intentionally) but it tastes wrong with the food. Five dollar guacamole in a 1.5oz container. We passed on the ceviche after it came out because it was mostly soup.
Don't bother, unflavored, overpriced, bizarre combinations.
Pictures and menu looked great, but food was all very disappointing. Birria burger was borderline false advertising, basically just a regular burger with a small amount of dry birria on top. Burrito was bland and mushy. Guac was watery and I’m pretty sure had zucchini in it? Chips were stale. Then the churro waffles seemed like they were cooked 3x longer than they should have been.

The food might be good but it is a long wait. And the handful of fries in their $13 “loaded” fries was half a bowl. Weak!!!
When a restaurant depends on garlic as the main spice, you know it's not good. Additionally, the service was lackluster as the man behind the counter never looked at me.
I ordered some nachos and they were extremely salty. The meat looked super old it wasn’t fresh. Too pricey for the portions they gave you and the quality of the food. I wouldn’t recommend it.
"crispy" shrimp tacos were just burnt and the salsa was salsa was not spicy enough
Food is as miserable. How can you charge $19 for a burger and shredded beef. The birria was not birria and the burger patty felt like it was steamed and extremely dry. No sauces either. Very disappointed
