Coco's Kitchen San Juan Reviews
I had the pleasure of speaking with Ká for a take-out order and she made the whole experience seamless and enjoyable. She was friendly, efficient, and really attentive to all my order details. Ká ensured everything was prepared exactly as requested, and her positive attitude made the pick-up so much more pleasant. I truly appreciate her excellent service. Highly recommend!
A friend recommended that I give them a try and boy was I NOT disappointed. I went by Friday night & was greeted by a very nice gentleman named John who took my order. I got the Lambi (Conch) complete. The lambi was so tender and seasoned well and the rice & beans was delicious! My mom even agreed that the food was delicious. I will definitely be back!
When you forgot your lunch on the counter and you don't want to drive too far to pick something to eat. You give a chance to a place you've never tried before. The lunch special price was reasonable. It was good and I will definitely try again. Ordering was easy as well. I love the convenience.
Kay that took my order was great and explained basically every dish, I highly recommend Coco’s the food is delicious and very authentic
First time going to this restaurant, also first time trying Haitian food. I tried the fried goat complete with mushroom rice and was really blown away by the quality of the food and the robust taste. Definitely coming back. Great food, great price, what more can one ask for?
THE FOOD IS AMAZING!!!! My family got 2 griot plates & 1 boulet. Best parts were the rice, boulet (so pretty inside), sauce pwa, sauce, & the amount of fresh ingredients. Everyone loved it. The plate is huge, no one was able to finish more than half of in one sitting. Definitely in my top 3 Haitian restaurants. When I’m back in town I’ll be back! Can’t wait! **I see you guys take advice because someone on here said you don’t give enough sauce & now every plate comes with 2 sauces & 1 pikliz. My griot meat was a good texture, but if the fat below the skin was fried harder that would make it better. 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽
Ever since my friend told me about this location about 4 years ago I have not stop coming. As a Haitian woman I’ve had my helping of griot variations. But the way their griot taste is top notch. Fully flavored and no bones. It makes my heart smile knowing I will eat only meat. Definitely a must stop when I drive from Central Fla.
Food is fire and good on prices
I just went there today and I must the food was really good. I had the fried chicken and plantains. The young lady in the front was extremely nice and I hear she makes the best macaroni au graten. They were sold out when I went, so I'll be back! I must say it was refreshing to see great customer service in a Haitian restaurant. We know hoe our people can Be. Please keep up the good work and see you soon.
So it was my first time that i ordered from this restaurant and the food was amazing i never had fried pork or the black rice and everything tasted so good i was very happy even when i was waiting for my food for a long time they offered a me a soda at no extra cost.... i will definitely order agian thank you for the hospitality and the great food
This is my second time coming here I follow somebody on Instagram named Bree and she recommended this is a good Haitian restaurants to eat. When I came in here both times all the cashiers were very nice and pleasant especially kay. The food was nice and hot tasty no complaints would definitely eat here often when I have a taste for Haitian cuisine as well as I have recommended to a couple of my friends and coworkers. Keep up the amazing job don't lose your touch period
This review is for improvement purposes. I enjoy eating at Coco’s Kitchen. The food is truly amazing. The only thing I can negatively comment on is the number of sauce they give for the amount of food (rice, meat, plantains) etc. Today I went in and ordered the meal below and received 1 sauce. When I asked for another sauce I was asked to pay $0.80 cents plus tax. I don’t think with the amount of rice given 1 sauce is sufficient especially when folks order “dry” plates( fried fish, griot) etc. Instead of assuming folks like “pikliz” customers should be asked which one they prefer because in my situation I don’t like pikliz (going to waste) when I could have received an extra sauce. This whole situation is like giving someone 1 packet of ketchup for a order of fries. I understand we live in a capitalistic world but there should be a place where businesses draw a line on how they can monetize on items.
I was on the hunt for great Haitian food when I stumbled upon this spot—and wow, the flavors blew me away! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service over the phone was just as impressive. I’ll definitely be coming back!
AMAZING FOOD AND THE WELCOME IS LIKE YOUR AT HOME ..I’m not so big on spicy but it’s worth every bite and dollar ..reasonable prices ..dinner for 1two pl can eat from it…fried turkey and macaroni is all I order and blk rice is perfect too I go every week
My second time eating here and the food is to die for, full of flavor and season right. To me it is the best Haitian Restaurants that I ever ate from.
The food is 5 stars! We had the griot, it was amazing. I would have enjoyed if they had tables to sit down. Its a to go place, the food was made within a reasonable time frame. The only negative thing i can say is that the shopping plaza is in neglect. (Little ghetto) I personally dont mind if the food is so amazing. Prices were fair and most clients seamed to be regulars, would certainly recommend this great food place to my friends.
The Legume, Turkey and Griot was hot and fresh and tasted so good also the Haitian Rice and White Rice was delicious this has been the best Haitian food I ever tasted they cook to order so I recommend calling in your order
Fresh and flavorful food. Call ahead, some entrees are cooked when ordered. Enjoyed my meal and the wall with Haitian Historical Facts. Learned something while I waited.
First time newbie to Haitian food but omg so glad I tried it! I got the Griot comple lunch plate and first bite was just full of flavor. I love good ethnic food and this hit more than the spot. Will be back tomorrow probably lol. Idk what the sauces were by I tried and used both. Delish!! Ordered pick up from postmates, super quick and easy, walked in and grabbed it. Guy at front was very pleasant in person and on the phone when I called to verify pick up instructions. Practiced CDC protocols with face masks and plexiglass barrier at register.

Coco’s Kitchen is a hidden gem for authentic Haitian cuisine! The food is bursting with rich flavors, perfectly cooked, and made with care. The customer service was outstanding—patient, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. The owner Coco took the time to explain the dishes and make great recommendations. Highly recommend for an amazing dining experience!
Very friendly and clean... Best food are on Sundays and Mondays. When the older Haitian women are in the kitchen. Never disappointed when Jeff (the owner) sisters or his wife are cooking. The price is right and the amount of food is also good for the price you paying.
The food was delicious freshly prepared with large portions for the price. The gentleman that waited on us was nice kind and polite. This was my first time here as I was visiting Ft. Lauderdale for my birthday. I googled this restaurant and took a chance and I am glad I did . Delicious authentic Haitian cuisine. The watermelon and pineapple soda is the best.

ordered on food delivery app, and was highly impressed with what i received. would definitely recommend, and order from again.
This was a random spot my husband selected after an event in Ft. Lauderdale. The owner told him to try a selection. We had, griot, turkey and the fried chicken. The food was delicious. My husband especially said the turkey was fie ( absolutely delicious). Keep up the good work! And we got a lot of food enough for left overs and we fed a family of 5. Great spot.

I tried them for the first time based on google reviews. The black rice was a little bland for my taste but the turkey was good. The fried fish was not fried well done. the seasoning was on good. Not so busy during the week in afternoon which is great because I was in and out. Great front desk service!
I saw an IG post about this restaurant and decided to check it out. I ordered the griot comple lunch special. The pork was a little tough, but not tough enough to not make me try it again. The food is made to order so it's really hot and fresh. The gentleman that took my order was very nice and personable. The Mac & Cheese was interesting. I'd never seen it done like that. It was good but I probably wouldn't buy it again. The pikliz was super spicy and I LOVED it. Go check them out. The sounding area is sketch but worth the drive.

Prices are at an all time high. What happened to the day fish was $20+ now you paying for average items like chicken/turkey for that price. Thats insane. I’m starting to believe this location is under new management because this can’t be possible with whom use to run it unless they lost their morals. Wishing them the best but I’m finally done with coco’s especially if I took the time to write this review.
Food is great. The Black rice gave me life. The fried turkey and fried chicken with sauce was too dry. But I will continue to return for the black rice. 2nd review 10 months later. Black rice still taste great but there was HAIR in my rice. I ordered chicken but I couldn’t identify the pieces as chicken because I had chopped up chicken back; my assumption;if I have to guess. They cook to order sign says 15-20 minutes. I was there 38 minutes before I got my food.
Upon arrival the cashier was friendly. The menu is online so don’t go in there asking for the menu. I gave it a 2 because my husband almost swallowed a piece of a brilopad (pey Defé) in the legume he ordered. Rice tasted a little off like burnt ish. I ordered the grio and they all were fat pieces and not fully fried.. Definitely won’t be back considering my first time going there.

Today I placed a order through door dash I specifically told them no legume or salad which they didn’t follow on the app it originally comes with black beans and white rice I didn’t get neither then I called to see why my order was wrong she tells me all I said was no salad or mixed veggies yet you still gave me mixed veggies I called again and now I can’t get in contact with no one ! If anything the guy with the dreads should be the person at the register he’s the only cashier that ever took my orders serious
Awfulllllll service, horrible & spoiled food. The young lady seemed to be pissed had an attitude the whole time we were ordering food. And the food was awfulllll !!! Very salty no flavor turkey meat tasted spoiled I was horrible wings & black rice, and stewed turkey dinner for $50 and it was complete trash!
I believe this place is under new ownership & management. I am most certainly sure there is a new cook, because the owner was present & stated this to me. I left the restaurant & good thing I checked my food in the car. My order was wrong & I believe I was over charged for a Griot Simple & some spaghetti, it was over $30. The food was not good at all. The spaghetti was bland for Haitian style spaghetti, the groot soggy. I don't mind paying for good food but this was not it. Coco's is NOT what it was before. Highly disappointed trying to support black women in business here
I came there at 1:00pm and I didn’t get my food till at 2.00pm it’s ridiculous and it so hot inside this place no air conditioner and very bad service. The food is not tasty so I spend all this time for nothing.Never again.
I ordered griot simple with an extra side of griot. The portion was so small and then before I left I opened it because I wanted onions on the top so the young lady was trying to let the person in the kitchen know that I wanted onions and they were no where to be found. She kept looking for them by the little window opening thingy and opening the door but no one. I waited like 20 minutes nothing. I ended up just leaving very unsatisfied. I won’t be back .
This restaurant is a waste. I order the griot lunch special and legume complete, both dishes was inedible. I trash my whole order. I will never eat nor recommend this restaurant. The black rice had a chemical smell to it , and the smell alone turned me off. I finally got the courage to taste the rice and it tasted like it smell. The legume was watery with no flavor at all. I was going to give the legume and griot to my dog but I decided against it.…my dog don’t deserve that type of treatment; $30 down the drain. Don’t believe the stars and Don’t buy.
The food was not good at all the griot was tough and my husband had the Kabrit and it was tough as well, the plantains had no flavor it just didn’t taste authentic at all, the presentation was good but we took 2 bites and had to throw the food away. The flavors were not it at all
I ordered fried Turkey with a side order of Macaroni. It total $28. The food is very expensive. The so call owner is rude. I asked why my plate is so expensive she told me that everything is expensive now and if I don't like the price to go somewhere else. Well thank you I will never come back! It was my first time trying the food.
I ordered a plate of white rice and bean sauce. I promise you not the right rice taste like bleach. I will never eat from here again mind you this was my first time eating here disgusting I’ve ate from plenty of Haitian restaurants and it tastes nothing like this
I ordered extra meat and got extra fat. The quality of this place has really gone down. When I first started coming here, the portion size was adequate but now they have a habit of scaling back on the food even when you order extra. I expect to get what I pay for and not have to suffer for your inability to deal with inflation. In addition, they used to have good customer service and had very nice packaging, which is what initially what attracted me to the place, even though it’s in a dumpy little shopping plaza. But boy how things have changed. When I called to let them know how unsatisfied I was with their service and food rationing, they asked me to come back in. I thought it was to make things right but instead the counter person asked me to come back to point to a sign that said check your food before you leave. They actually made me come back for that when they could have told me that over the phone. In fact, what that tells me is that they must have several customers returning their product for one reason or another. I’m sure for similar reasons. I asked to speak to the manager and he proceeded to explain how he measured out his portions (lol) further minimizing the situation instead of accommodating me, the customer, with better service. He continued to explain that I got what I paid for, even though I paid extra. And so I told him that this was not the quality of food or customer service I received when I started coming here and therefore if he didn’t correct the issue I would never come back. He said that was fine and it is for me, but not for him. You see, I walked in there with plain clothes after a long day, just wanting something good to eat and some good service. I didn’t receive either. So they have lost me as a customer and because they didn’t take the time to make the situation right nor did they apologize or sympathize for my grievance or for making me come back there for no reason, I am writing this very honest review. Customer service is about the entire experience. This is why there is a decline with the quality and service of this place. I recommend you eat somewhere else and don’t waste your time or money there.
The food was very unoriginal & I’m from the rural area back home & this was not it. The black rice (djòn-djòn) I’m used to does not taste this salty & arid. The pikliz does not taste original. Not bad with the fried pork (griyo) but missing a little of its roots. First time eating in a Haitian restaurant with lack of authenticity in this area. At that point I was eating to not starve, not eating for the taste. You guys need lessons from a friend who is from the rural part of Haiti like Saint-Marc, L’Artibonite or you need to come down to West Palm Beach!!! The price does not do justice neither back here in WPB it’s $12.50 for a griyo complete!
I don't know if CoCos is under new management or there was a new chef in the kitchen tonight but the food portions were definitely price gouging small. I paid $9.36 for a small side of grio and there was literally 5 pieces of grio on the plate. I also purchased a fried grio complete meal and the grio was waaayyy to spicy. It tasted as if the chef buss several scotch bonet peppers open in the pot. I will not waste my hard earned money here again. Now I have to find a new Haitian cuisine restaurant.
