Richie's Cafe San Juan Reviews
Such a lovely spot! for the summer they have a special banana bread latte that’s incredible (if you have a nut allergy they can do it without hazelnut which was perfect for us)
Great coffee shop on the Temple University campus. Great coffee, delicious sandwiches and very reasonable prices. I had the banana, peanut butter and honey toast. AMAZING!!!
Myself and a few family members were in from out of town and needed some coffee and food. We weren't disappointed! The coffee, both hot and iced, was rich and smooth, perfectly mixed/made regardless of the flavors we got. We also got a few Turkey/Chipotle Turkey paninis, and the 3-Cheese grilled cheese. They were perfectly cooked and all the ingredients were delicious and fresh - so good!! And the bagels and cream cheese also didn't disappoint! If we're ever back in this part of the city, we'll definitely come back!
The tater tot wrap is my go-to for breakfast, all the food is amazing and they’re always fast. A lot of the times you can even see the owner Richie is in store, overall great atmosphere, would definitely recommend.
I ordered a double espresso and one of the breakfast wraps that they keep on the hotbox near the register. The espresso was fine. Nothing special. About what I was expecting. Most coffee shops serve average espresso that just tastes like regular American coffee with a little bit more body, some crema on top, and more robust bitter-coffee flavor. That's what you'll get here. Don't look for notes of cocoa, wine, or berries. It's fine espresso, but nothing to get excited about. The wrap had egg, turkey bacon, cheese, tater tots and chipotle sauce. It was pretty good, but also not amazing. I appreciate that they get the turkey bacon super crispy without it being dry. I like the tater tots as a stand in for a hash brown patty; they taste the same and the small pieces make for a better experience of biting into the wrap. The eggs were fine; in a sandwich like this, they add protein and not much flavor. I couldn't taste the cheese at all because the chipotle sauce overpowered everything. I suspect they use a premade chipotle sauce because it has the viscosity of bottled salad dressing and it's a little too sweet (barely any of that smokey heat that characterizes real chipotle 🌶️). Still the sandwich tasted fresh and filled me up with all the good breakfast vibes. I'd order it again, it's way better than the average fast food breakfast sandwich. Bottom line: Richie's Cafe is a nice place to sit and work on your laptop, if you can find a free seat. It's often very busy. The food and drink is dependable and consistent, even if it's not the best around. I'll be back. I want to try one of the grilled cheese sandwiches because that's what I hear people talking about all the time.
A business that has been around since 1969 and the dedication to their craft speaks volumes from their food, the drinks, the staff, the atmosphere and so much more! Was there with my fellow group members of Ita.Lifestyles during their Hatsune Miku collaboration event and it always makes me happy when anything anime related occurs in Philly. So stoked to visit again and munch on amazing food again!
Love this place! Their grilled cheese and coffees are amazing & the special coffee flavors are always interesting & delicious. Definitely coming back to try the waffles! Pictured costs $11. Might have to sit outside or share a seat depending.
Lovely cafe! The staff is a medium friendliness and the prices are fairly high - but hear me out, the waffles are delicious! Very tasteful and savory. The coffees are a pretty big size, so keep in mind a small is rather large! Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area. The decor and overall vibe is really nice as well.
Far and away my favorite spot on campus. The food is delicious and of great quality (the waffles are so fluffy and thick, and the avocado toast was seasoned well!), the service is fast and friendly, the ambience is cheerful, and the space is so new and sparkling. It also has lots of table room and plugs for studying and working. And it’s steps away from the train station!
They have a nice selection of food and drinks, however they are sometimes a little inconsistent with the strength of the matcha. I enjoy their normal matcha, and their paneer sandwich is so creamy and good with bell peppers.
It’s a collage cafe and the staff reflect that, while the food was tasty, paying extra for a single slice of turkey on a bagel is criminal. Coffee was decent. It would have been 4 stars but the turkey slice man . . . The turkey slice.
Great place to study or relax as there is ample seating at tables and barstools. The staff are friendly and service is quick. The natural lighting is nice and relaxing. Food wise, the everything bagel is terrible - it was overcooked, resembling whole grain almost, had no seasoning or taste, and it came toasted but I didn't ask. The matcha was watered down with too much almond milk and sweetener (also didn't ask for it to be sweetened) and not enough matcha. Overall this place is great for studying or meeting up with friends; you could probably eat before you come here.
