Pepperbelly's San Saba Reviews
I've been twice now. First time I had the Verde enchiladas, this time I had the burrito with beef fajita. Both were excellent! The salsa is very tasty, homemade. Neither too hot nor too mild. The staff is very kind! They check up on you frequently. Pretty good. 9/10
Immediate service, many tables and booths, well staffed, amazing-made-to-order food.
Alright, let's turn that passionate food review into a mouthwatering podcast snippet! Podcast Segment Options: Option 1: Short & Enthusiastic: "Podcast family, if you find yourself in San Saba, Texas, do yourself a favor and head straight to Pepperbellies Mexican Restaurant. Authentic, fresh, and absolutely addictive. I couldn't stop eating! Seriously, fork down? Impossible. Just go. You won't regret it."
Stopped by on a quiet Sunday. One of us had tortilla soup and the other had fried catfish. Soup was good and fresh with lots of chicken. Fish was delicious! Service was excellent and restrooms were clean with plenty of soap and paper towels. We will be back when we're in the area.
Good food & atmosphere. Waitress was knowledgeable. Let us know about added dishes to the menu. Very polite & checked if we needed anything & on how was the food. Awesome young lady.
Man as I sat there waiting for my food I read the reviews on this place. I was thinking where have we picked to eat . But I have to say it was so good . Clean restrooms didn’t see any bugs of any kind . Our waitress was very good and I watched as she was the same with all of her tables there was at least 3 workers on the floor. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
We had a great experience at pepperbellies! It surpassed my expectations for such a small town. My party of 18 (sorry!!) had incredibly fast and friendly service, our food was delicious! There was no wait, I think there were only three other tables being occupied while we were there. Everyone loved the pepperbellies and egg rolls, and the fajitas were a hit all around as well. It was very clean, and reasonably priced for the quality. I definitely recommend this for dinner if you're visiting San Saba!!
Food was good. Service slow. For a little town like that, it’s to be expected. We learned this as it was our last night in town and everyone there moves slow. It’s a nice change for the rush rush rush of our normal lives. The fajitas are really good! My mom and I got the mixed chicken and beef for two. It was $25 and the special for the night. That’s the cost of fajitas for one back home. We would definitely go again.
Sat us quickly even with crowds showing up after a rained out game; service was excellent. Chips were fresh and salsa just right! Everyone enjoyed their meal. Restaurant was clean and the decor was so fun! We’ll be back! :)
This was some good Mexican food we got lost looking for the bridge and found this restaurant. They were amazing all around the food and the waitress were good def go back when we can. Will recommend my husband had a philly cheese steak with I au jus sauce they gave and didn't even know what it was.
The food was incredible. I always judge a good tex mex place by the rice and it was perfect. Had a large family event here, 60 people and the had a place for us and the service was efficient and friendly. Lots of roots here myself and i think Pepperbellys is doing San Saba proud. Good job yall.
They were busy and service was slow. Food was mighty tasty though.
Great lunch spot when qe were driving through town. Located just off 16. We were there for a late lunch so lots of open parking close by including on the street. We were seated and served quickly. The wait staff gave honest reviews of menu items rather than "everything here is great." The food was tasty. Variety of menu items to suit everyone. Again, late lunch probably played into this but it was delightfully not loud. 4 or 5 TVs on different channels but no sound on. Discount for cash pay.
The food isn't that good but the workers are amazing!!! I do do highly recommend this place but if you're looking for authentic Mexican food this isn't the place. It's more American than Mexican.
Had a disappointing experience here as well. Unfortunately this is another fail. The waitress smelled like a nasty smoke. Not cigarettes either. They seem to only like to take care of people they know. Started with their “signature Pepperbellies” which is a thing everyone does at home. Except these were very salty! Stuffed pepper wrapped in bacon. How “original” but then again, following social media pages, this place just copies what everyone else is doing in town on their social media and their specials it seems like. They’re not doing it very well either. The enchiladas tasted like they were frozen and the burger was horrible! Dry hockey puck, with “green leaf” again, like everyone else in town does, and the saltiest and rubbery “home fries”. There is nothing original about this place. All they do is copy everyone else in town and they are absolutely not doing it right! Saw a dead roach on the floor as well.. that was about it for us! Do not waste your time or money. Hope this review helps!
Where do I start? With the cockroach so causally walking across the dining room floor? Or the enchiladas that were microwaved? How about the fajitas that tasted like boiled meat with pepper on it? Wait, let’s chat about the restrooms that were bad (one review here says they were clean 🤔)… servers are all about twelve years old. This wouldn’t be bad if they could answer any questions we had. Rice was dry and boxed I’m certain. Ok $50! Wow. Just. Wow. Not a good wow either.
