I visited this place because they had vegan options. I am surprised that this did not show up first in my search. I discovered while walking the street. Their vegan lunch option is totally worth the money. You get rice, a curry, dal, salad and a bread on the side. It also tasted really good. The staff is also very courteous! Recommended.

My favorite restaurant in SB! Such good quality food, fast service, friendly staff. I love their Nirvana with tofu, and chana masala. Everything is always so fresh and delicious 👏🏽❤️

Great atmosphere! The food was authentic and well portioned. They add tumeric to their rice which was delicious! My staple is the Tandoori Chicken- this did not disappoint! I highly recommend 👌

We came here during Covid and got hooked. Drove 132 miles last weekend so the son can eat here before going back to college and it was as good as ever. Apna is even better than most of the restaurants in Little India in Cerritos California

I don't even know where to start, we love Apna and it's basically our favorite restaurant in SB. Best food and incredible people running it. It's hard for us to diverge from our normal order, but everything is so good. We LOVE the Chicken Pakora with the chutney, the crispiest chicken I've ever had. The Chicken Tikka Masala is so incredibly flavorful and just warming to the soul. Pairing that with their Garlic Cheese Naan just takes it to a whole other level. 11/10, incredible food, wonderful & friendly owners and staff, and a cozy environment.

INCREDIBLE SERVICE: We order from here all the time because the food is good. Our order tonight was like 20 minutes late because the delivery guy's bike died on him. He just came back with someone else from Apna, to personally apologize and give us a fresh order. They didn't have to do that - I understood about the bike breakdown. Incredible service!!! We were so impressed and, of course, the food was great.

The food was authentic Indian, reminded me of the dhabas in Punjabi. We devoured the achari chicken wings, lamb korma was decadent and the meat was super tender. Mango lassi was extra creamy and served in a steel tumbler. Very friendly service. I would highly recommend it to all the Indians if they are looking for authentic Indian food.

Bold, passionate flavors and incredible vegetarian options! The Gobi Manchurian and buttery Dal Makhani were standouts. Accompanied by fluffy garlic naan and served on a beautiful outdoor patio, it was a 10/10 experience. Warm service and generous portions—highly recommended!

ATMOSPHERE: Creatively designed interior, mixing Punjabi homage with a youthful and slightly punk/rebellious/art attitude (ex. Indian movie posters and captivating music that is a mix of chill house with Indian style). FOOD: The food was delicious and presented thoughtfully! I wholeheartedly appreciate the house salad (spinach based!) –unique for an Indian restaurant to offer. The Tandoori chicken with green sauce and slaws were a perfect blend of heat, tanginess, and cooling sensation; the tikka masala was middle of the road; the chana masala tasty; and the spiced rice with peas (I love this style) and naan both complemented the main dishes! SERVICE: Kind, courteous, and attentive team!

This is the best Indian restaurant I had in California, we often drive all the way from LA to here just to eat here! Everyone is nice here, and great price too!

Excellent Indian food. Went on a Sunday evening and sat at the patio, no wait since we got there at 5:15pm before the restaurant got full. After walking State St and getting hungry, we chose this place without much expectation, but this place turned out to be excellent and very satisfying. Very friendly and prompt service, and the complimentary masala tea hit the spot. As soon as we had the hot drinks and one heater turned on, we didn’t feel the cold breeze anymore. We ordered one different curry each and shared. All were perfect. The lamb was surprisingly really good (and super spicy) even though I typically don’t care for lamb flavor. Would definitely come back here if we are exploring the area. Public parking structure around the corner $3.

We had a wonderful experience at Apna Indian Kitchen! The food was very delicious, full of authentic flavors, and perfectly spicy just like real Indian food should be. Every dish had a great taste that reminded us of home. A special mention to Mr. Vicky, who was extremely welcoming, attentive, and made sure our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. His friendly service added so much to our visit. Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for true Indian taste with warm hospitality! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

One of the best Indian places I’ve been to and we ordered takeout. Our food was handed to us less than 10 mins after ordering. The ambiance inside was really nice and they had plenty of outdoor seating as well. The host was very friendly. I loved everything we ordered. I wish more Naan Bread came with our order (only 4 pieces). Definitely recommend this place and prices were very reasonable. Large portions for everything else. Baingan Bhartha: 4.5/5 Garlic Naan: 4.5/5 Punjabi Chole (Chana Masala): 4.5/5 Tikka Masala w/ Fish: 4.5/5

Even if you have only rise with the lentils DAL you will be surprised from the richness of flavors. We really enjoyed the Malay Cofta, The cheese NAN was delicious. Don’t forget to ask for yogurt to ease up the heat For dessert we had Golab Jamo which is sweet hot balls in an aromatic sweet sauce full of spices , it was great.

1.I really liked the texture of the Gobi Manchurian 2. We liked the paneer tikka because it was soft, creamy, and gooey . 3.The spice and seasonings was perfect. 4. The ambience was clean, colorful, and without a strong smell. ~ by Anjali

Excellent food. Very good service and equally great atmosphere. We ordered vegetarian food and it was amazing. The test was so good it took me back to Punjab India. The serving staff was also very good and they were really making us comfortable. I will definitely recommend this place for typical Indian food.

Apna is definitely one of my favorite Indian restaurants in Santa Barbara. Everything is really flavorful and there are great choices for meat lovers, vegetarians, and vegans. Today I tried their lunch special and it’s a solid amount of food for the price. Staff is friendly and attentive. The patio dining on State St is a bonus. Definitely recommend eating here.

This restaurant dishes out mouth watering food however it is on the rich and creamy side. We ordered bhel puri, tandoori paneer and dal. We could finish our food. It was very tasty however very rich. The service was attentive and wonderful. We sat outside under the heaters enjoying the fall evening with amazing food our evening couldn't have had a better ending.

Absolutely fantastic premium Indian food. I’ve never had Indian food this good. Fresh and high quality ingredients and everything is extremely authentic. You can tell the cooks know good Indian food. Fabulous outdoor patio and real Indian drinks like Lassi, Indian Lemonades, Sodas etc. Didn’t have room for dessert but I’m sure it’s good. The Lamb Korma and crab cakes and garlic cheese naan are out of this world! Best Indian you will ever eat pretty sure. Enjoy! Friendly and efficient service with a smile too! Thanks Apna!

Mobile Manchurian tasted pretty good. Garlic nan was nice and crispy. By the way, chai, which was complimentary, tasted good.

Bubbly was really nice. She was very patient as we took so much time to decide what to order. She explained the menu patiently, was always smiling, offered us free tea. They kept checking on us to make sure everything was fine. Really great service. We ordered spicy channa and it was too spicy so be careful. The Paneer tikka was not too bad.

Came here quiet late and the host was kind enough to let us in. We ordered butter chicken and naan. The chicken could have been more tender. It was just ok. The service was remarkable though and everybody was exceptionally nice. The ambiance was very lively and hip. I am sure the other thing on the menu would be better than butter chicken. The meat was halal as per the host.

Food was fine. Unfortunately “mild” meant no space at all plus all dishes lacked salt.
