February 2026: Stayed at the Drift Hotel next door. As a perk, I was offered a free cup of drip coffee at the Dawn Cafe. Came here a few minutes after they opened. The barista was very nice and friendly. My coffee ☕ was excellent. She also provided a little oat milk for my coffee. Overall, great place for a cup of drip coffee. Note, they also have pour over coffee options. I'd try that next time!

This is such a cozy and unique coffee shop. They got me a matcha latte with orange cardamom which was to die for. Their service is outstanding, super nice and very thoughtful about making the drink you want. The decor is beautiful and it connects with the Dusk bar, right next door. Such a clever combination and naming game.

I absolutely love the creative lattes and drinks here! Especially the sesame cappuccino they have. Not too strong on the sesame, so even if you are a first timer to try this latte flavor, it is super friendly. I definitely recommend this place, especially if you are walking down state st and need a drink!

We stumbled upon this charming spot during our morning walk and was instantly captivated. The coffee is exceptional - perfectly brewed with rich flavor. Their pastries deserve special mention - freshly baked with a few to choose from . We tried their chees and ham croissant which was buttery, flaky, and had just what we needed. The atmosphere is cozy yet spacious enough to work or chat with friends. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about their offerings. A bit pricier than chain cafes, but absolutely worth every penny for the quality.

Very kind service with interesting and tasty seasonal drinks that definitely leverages the mixology talent from its partner cocktail bar Dusk. We had the black sesame cappuccino and orange coffee cola that were delicious but, almost just as importantly, photographed well 😌

Dawn Cafe + Market offers a croissant experience like no other – it's simply irresistible. Pair it with their robust cold brew for a delightful combination. The cafe's charming atmosphere adds to the appeal, and the staff is incredibly welcoming. It's a must-visit spot for anyone seeking a delectable croissant and a fantastic coffee in a friendly setting.

I had an iced matcha latte with oat milk and honey and a traditional croissant. Both were super tasty. If you’re tired of poor quality matcha, please try this place! The croissant was light and flaky and really hit the spot. The seating area is really comfy and cute, and spacious enough for small groups. If you need somewhere to rest and have a snack while shopping downtown, this is the place to go.

Super chill and friendly vibes. The coffee tastes great! Not to sugar heavy and just the right amount of flavor/coffee. Defn worth a visit 🤟Tell them Simran sent ya. Not that they know who that is but if they hear it enough may be it catch on 😏

Excellent coffee! And specialty lattes are perfect, not too sweet and overloaded, just subtle hints of flavors mixed in with the coffee. Also love the atmosphere, and NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR ALTERNATIVE MILK!?!? Absolutely unheard of, and amazing. Thank you, for many reasons— delicious coffee, no up charge on oat milk, wonderful ambiance, and clean restrooms— always appreciated. Would have taken better pics but I was caught up enjoying the experience!

Awesome spot! The coffee was great, prices were reasonable, and the seating area inside was really open and comfortable. I also heard they’ll have outdoor seating soon too which will be great. Glad to have this in downtown SB!

Awesome barista helped out our family of 5 people who each had a million questions to ask him about the drinks. Yummy drinks and pastries, environment was super chill.

Incredible coffee spot downtown. I got an orange cardamom latte which was one of the better coffee items I've had in a long time. Definitely were blown away by Dawn Cafe!

Lovely little place to have a morning chat with a dear friend. Or a place to stop after strolling the Saturday farmers market. The food was delicious. I heard they had an ube coffee but didn’t see it currently on the menu. The matcha was delicious.

Love this small little coffee shop that’s connected with The Drift Hotel. They have a few seats outside and I’d imagine they would open the Dusk Bar for seating if the place gets too packed. The service was friendly and efficient for only being one person for a Saturday morning around 8am. The drinks are good with speciality drinks not common to other coffee shops. I loved my Salted Pistachio Latte. It was smooth with just the right amount of sweetness. Cardamom Orange w/ Oatmilk: 4/5 Salted Pistachio Latte w/ Oatmilk: 4.5/5

Nice quiet place to sip coffee on an early Saturday morning. Horchata cold brew not the best, gritty and week tasting. The latte and croissant were good.

Our drinks were not hot (latte and matcha ) the milk was room slightly warmer than room temperature. However given the atmosphere and service it’s still overall a good place for coffee.

Dawn is a coffee shop attached to the Drift Hotel. We primarily got the black coffee from here as it was complementary with our hotel stay. We also tried a couple of other offerings such as an iced coffee and pastry. Overall, the black coffee was solid but the pastry was lack luster. The lattes were good but not great. Service was usually friendly and reasonably quick.

We were really excited to check out Dawn Coffe be a use of the ravings reviews. We got there at 8:15am on a Sunday and they were out of almost every breakfast item. It could have just been a coincidence. The bagel I did get was good. My drip coffee was a little acidic, but my husbands matcha was great. Staff was kind, but also didn’t seem to care that they had no food items. Overall I would give them a shot if you’re in town looking for coffee!

Coffee was not good… espresso/ cappuccino was the weakest taste, and that’s with added shots. Ultra light roasts here and diluted. Lack of seating in the inside and outside. Found a seat at the bar table next door. Service was nice and good location. A plus is they don’t charge for alternative milks but the coffee was too weak and I wouldn’t consider it espresso.

One star for being open and pleasant server. Regrettably I was served what was one of the worst toast I could have ever imagined. The bread was badly burned, the ricotta cheese painfully sour / rancid tasting topped with tiny bits of odd tasting strawberry and then pistachios that didn't even taste right. Very overpriced for what was offered but worse that it was Gross tasting!!!! Not redeemable. Unfortunately I ordered to go. Even one bite was disgusting and beyond disappointing. Coffee, flavored latte, was okay, not great, maybe not a great flavor. Could not begin to make up for the lack of care to serve FRESH, properly prepared and tasty food!!! Very low value here. Waste of money and time to try this shop. Maybe you'll have better luck, hope so.
