Bistro Amasa Santa Barbara Reviews
Excellent experience! The food was incredible. Ghnocci was so tasty. Steak was cooked to perfection. We loved our servers Oliver and Amanda, they really brought a special vibe. And the owner Nathaniel was a joy and so personable!
Don’t sleep on hidden gem in downtown SB in the Upham Hotel. The music and environment was so good and loved the Californian cuisine with a creative twist led by great chefs. Waldorf salad and Pork and Beans were so good! Carrot cake to top it all off was the right move. Will be back for more…

Brunch was outstanding! What a great ambiance and overall great service. We can't wait to come back for lunch and dinner!
Love the Bistro, the food is outstanding - maybe the best gnocchi ever!
I’m still happy with how delicious all the food was. The steak tartare, the wedge salad, roasted chicken, salmon with quinoa, the s’mores dessert~ nothing was “good” it was food that makes life great! I am definitely returning and highly recommend. 5 stars on every metric you can use to rate a restaurant. Thank you Bistro Amasa!
We have been visiting all the new restaurants openings in SB over the past 6-8 months and this one is by far the BEST and our new favorite. Their warm marinated olives Starter is something not to miss. Great presentation and lovely tastes with confit garlic, orange peel, fromage blanc and grilled bread. Mmmm, good! As a foursome we tried three of their mains: chicken, salmon and steak tartare! All the were excellent, tasty, generous portions, well presented and recognizable food, unlike so many restaurants trying to 'invent' something new. Wine selection by the glass or bottle with local SB county choices included, all at very fair prices. The menu is so extensive we have already booked out next visit so we can try some of the other dishes. We are also hoping to get Amanda, our efficient, very knowledgeable and cheerful waitress next time too.
We had such a great experience at Bistro Amasa on Wednesday January 7th. My husband treated me to a little getaway in Santa Barbara for my birthday. Sadly the hotel (The Upham) was a disappointment, the room was subpar. BUT to our surprise Bistro Amasa was a little gem! The staff were so pleasant and welcoming. The food and cocktails were delightful! We will return to Bistro Amasa because of the great experience, outstanding service and delicious food. Our waiters Lucas & Oliver were professional, pleasant and provided exceptional customer service. They made it a point to make my birthday dinner fun and so special. They sat us at the veranda with ambiance light on our table and nice heaters. Our favorites: _the margaritas made with a delicate smoky mezcal with a fresh cucumber finish! _ the warm olives on a bed of whipped fetta cheese accompanied with tasty slices of bread! _ the wedge salad with an addicting buttermilk dressing and hint of blue cheese. _Smores for dessert.
Had an exceptional experience at Bistro Amasa. From the cozy atmosphere to the warm hospitality, knowledgeable staff, and outstanding menu - everything was perfect. Can personally recommend the steak frites, bread & butter, the Waldorf salad, Gnocchi, and you can't go wrong with anything off their wine & cocktail list.
Bistro Amasa is so what we’ve needed in SB. The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully done without trying too hard. Every dish we’ve had has been a hit. The cocktails are fantastic, and the vibe super comfortable. A perfect spot to gather with friends or family and enjoy an amazing meal.
well.... in a foodie heaven of a town, we have a new unique, flavorful, cozy, num-num place. Everything is delicious, and not like anything else in SB. The menu may not make you crazy at first glance, but just close your eyes and point.... you will NOT be disappointed! And be sure to have a glass of the Lepiane-Moro Barbera!! Get in there!!! Happy to have another gem open up in SB! Steak Frites, Waldorf salad, and Croquettes were all stand outs. The cocktail menu is well thought out. Classics drinks with a subtle, interesting twist. Looking forward to another visit soon.
I usually don't leave reviews but this place deserves one; staff was incredibly attentive and the food was wonderful.
Loved dining here. The food and atmosphere were excellent. Try the gnocchi!

SUCH A VIBE. OUR SERVER NICOLE WAS AMAZING!!!. LOVED THE WALDORF SALAD
Amasa is a hidden gem! I've received great service every visit and the food is wonderful. I cannot say enough about the fantastic staff here. They are truly exceptional. The food is also 5-star. Perfectly prepared dishes paired with tasty sides and served consistantly delicious whether it is your first visit or your fifteenth. The ambiance is cozy and their outdoor dining area, set above street level, is delightful. When someone asks, "What's for dinner tonight?" The best answer will always be 'Amasa.'
My wife and I enjoyed a very romantic dinner on the front porch of the restaurant and the food and service exceeded my highest expectations. Erica was a delight and made our experience even more fun. The food can only be described as “over the top great”. Wonderful presentation and taste in every bite. Can you tell i loved it? As a former owner of a 50 seat fine dining restaurant on the coast of Maine, I understand what it takes to make dinner an experience as opposed to just a meal. It was great to sit outside and take it all in.

Cozy atmosphere, good cocktails, steak frites were the best item we had but definitely on the pricier side. Some fun starter plates as well
