Everything we ordered was delicious
中国菜很地道。真心给个赞! That is really China food. I am from China. After more than 15 days in USA, have a dinner at China Palace satisfy my need of a home dinner.
take-out & dine in is great, crispy mandarin chicken is our favorite! our go-to chinese restaurant in sb
Great flavor, authentic Chinese food! Not too greasy and very flavorful
Excellent food & excellent service. We will definitely be going back to the China Palace. 😀
Very fresh vegetables, tasty jasmine tea!, extremely helpful staff!
STAFF AND MANAGER ARE AWESOME. FOOD REAL GOOD
A very nice restaurant located in a wonderful community of Montecito. Amazing Chinese food.
This Chinese restaurant is slightly expensive but well worth every penny because their dishes are delicious. They make the best Spicy Basil Beef along with other authentic chinese dishes.
Our first time coming to this restaurant. It wA the best Chinese food we have ever eaten !! I had the house chow mein, my husband had the orange chicken, both were delicious !!
THE BEST FINE DINING TASTE TO CHINESE FOOD IN ALL OF CALIFORNIA AND THE USA IN MY OPINION THE ONLY OTHER PLACE WITH ORANGE CHICKEN THATS AS GOOD AS THIS PLACE IS IN COLUMBUS OHIO . AS A FOODIE I GO AROUND THE COUNTRY AND TRY DIFFERENT SPOTS AND TRY AND GET THE LIST OF THE BEST RESTAURANTS … THIS PLACE IS THE #1 CHINESE FOOD IN AMERICA! TRY THE ORANGE CHICKEN AND THE SEZUAN BEEF . WOW ! Ok I’m going there now
Great place for lunch specials... Did a job up the street went 3 days in a row for lunch and had a great dine outside for all this 2020 pandemic and served on actual plates and silverware.
Great tasting food and good portion sizes. Staff was also very friendly answering all of my questions about different dishes.
Consistently great good and wonderful service every time!
The Kung Pao Chicken is excellent. It's flavorful and definitely has a kick to it. Highly recommend. Excellent customer service.
It was great, good service. I loved the seafood noodles. Everything was great except the price. Only thing that might be concerning.
China Palace in Montecito was excellent. Food was hot, delicious and served within 10 minutes of being seated. Way good!!
One of the best Chinese cuisine at its price in this country! I used to particularly drive all the way to there for lunch when visiting Los Angeles.
Great service. Freshly prepared. Solid classic menu. Easy parking. Will definitely be back soon.
Best Chinese takeout in SoCal. Clean, consistent, and crafted with care. Best item on the menu is the Wor Wonton Soup 🍲🤤
My family has been eating here for over 10 years. Always welcomed at the door and we love the food. Best Chinese around!
Great food, Seafood Fried Rice, Ginger Lamb, Stirred Fried Spinach, large hot and Sour Soup all tasty with reasonable price. Plus Friendly staffs and Fast Service. 5 star in all category.
Great service, tasty food. We got the mapo tofu with pork, sizzling rice soup, and pork chow mein. Prices were fair. Will definitely return!
it was the best Chinese food I've ever had. Our host was so accommodating and friendly. it was a wonderful experience.
Some of the best food I've ever eaten. Friendly service with a family atmosphere, outside dining available. Five stars in my book
Had terrific Kung Pao Chicken last night (Sept 2016). Been coming here for years. Had been hit or miss but last few times, terrific. Friend also had couple of tasty dishes including pork Chow Mein.
Great place amazing food i go there when im around the area. I would recommend it to any body looking for something yummy also fancy looking. It looks great and it taste great also thr staff is super nice and helpful.
The food quality was excellent. The service was attentive and professional. I recommend the green beans and crispy mandarin chicken.
The best Chinese Food in the Santa Barbara Area! We love their entire menu. Would highly recommend for dine in or take out. Try the cream cheese wontons!
I ordered take-out from them, and it was absolutely delicious! Some of the best wonton & egg drop soup I've ever had hands down.
Great take out again! We go once a month!
This place is always good. Decor and fixtures a bit run down, but food was fresh and delicious
Come here for a nicely-furnished, attractively-lit and entirely typical Chinese restaurant experience. The staff are friendly and helpful, the ambiance is quiet and serene, the walls are red, the tablecloths are yellow, and the General Tso’s chicken is no better than the best you’ve had elsewhere and certainly no worse than any other plate you’ve eaten. It’s essentially a version of Panda Express which is upgraded in every area. You’ve got to respect the hustle. 👍🏻 Probably a safe bet for business lunches, impressing your friends from the countryside, and meetings of the local Go league.
Great place, nice experience, good food.
ok so this right here is the craziest tasting food in all of the land of sb for me i get the sesame beef and the orange chicken and the Mongolian beef holy smokes I call it all candy meat like never go to panda express again type flavors 10 stars out of 5 in portions taste and quality real classy atmosphere as well please try this place its out of this world ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Our last night in Santa Barbara, we decided as Asians we needed rice after all the American seafood. So we looked up Chinese. It was the closest. My husband was so disappointed we didn't think to do Chinese sooner. They had a lot of seafood options and he wanted to get them all. But we ended up getting chicken with vegetables and shrimp and scallops with black bean sauce and the peking duck. Black bean was a little salty for our liking but still good. Definitely gonna recommend to his co workers. We sat in the outdoor patio and it was nice and quiet. The servers were quick and friendly. Saw lots of people coming in to pick up take out.
This has the best food i’ve ever ate, i definitely recommend coming here. We were coming back from LA and stopped by and got their orange chicken and it was amazing, the sauce is delicious, and the wontons with super delightful. When i say this place has good food i mean it. The waitress ling ling was super nice and welcoming, she would really connect with us and get involved in little conversations. I will definitely be driving the 2 hours just to come back!!
Love this place! I feel they have the best lunch special in town. Huge dish for $10!! The dumplings 🥟 are so good here, packed with meat! If I ever want to impress a guest, I bring them here!
Simple restaurant but Amazing Food! I was very pleased! Some of the best chinese food I've had! Great service too! Thx!
Probably the best Chinese restaurant in Santa Barbara, though we have several now that are good. Try the Orange Peel Shrimp. Others have tried to imitate it and ruined it. China Palace makes it so it is delicate and flavorful without being sweet. They also do fish well. And their dry sauteed string beans are superb. Everything I have ever had here in the past dozen years or so has been excellent. The change of ownership a year or so ago did not change the quality at all.
Easily one of the best Chinese Places in all of California. Any review that doesn't say this place is amazing must not have gone because the food is absolutely incredible and the service is just as good. Every dish is just as good as the last and if you don't try the shrimp you are missing out on the best dish there! Trust me when I say that this place is the place you want to go for Chinese food in Montecito.
This has been my go-to Chinese takeout since the onset of the pandemic, and they never disappoint. Food is always so fresh, delicious, and neatly packaged up for the safe ride back home. I dont really agree with the negative reviews but, that's ok, after all its personal opinions. The prices are average for most restaurants in the area and nearby Santa Barbara. Eating out gets expensive for many places, at least we have great options during this awful time. Support local restaurants and definitely try China Palace. :)
My family and I had a great experience at China palace. The staff was vary accommodating and attentive. The food was amazing. Everything we ate was very well cooked. Our dinner went smoothly. I happy we went and will go again.
Food is always excellent here, the staff is polite and the atmosphere is nice.
Cozy restaurant with outdoor dining that's closed which is good in any weather. The staff here are quick and responsive and the food is great. Especially the lunch portions are big (for the price). Only thing is the rice to food ratio is bit off but nevertheless it's a good experience with wonderful food.
Great service made every dish to order like no this no that And its was tastey give it a try it was my first time ther for lunch and not my last Was not fan of hot sour soup But may be your favorite Enjoy
First time being there so this is based on one experience. Had the Kuang Pao Chicken. It was delicious. Clean atmosphere and good service. It seemed like the server was aware that I did not want to be bothered and was not coming around asking if I needed anything but when he noticed my glass of water was empty he did come over prepared with a pitcher of water to see if I wanted a refill. When I was done he was there to pick up the dirty dishes. Very attentive and respectful. Great place and price was reasonable. Parking is limited though. Or I may have parked in the employee parking because there was very few spots. But it's a small family atmosphere.
I have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant in Santa Barbara for years..finally found one!!!😊 The service was great and everyone was very friendly. The food was exceptional. Had the vegetarian hot and sour soup..great! Moo Shu vegetable..very good! Fresh veggies and tasty sauce. Not greasy at all. My mom ordered the Cashew chicken and was really pleased. Leftovers for days! Great location and fair prices. Cannot wait to go back to try some other menu items!!😊 🍜🍚
Always good, love the shrimp fried rice and orange chicken. Everything we've had here is very good.
Small parking lot off of coast village road. Friendly staff. Good food tofu and salt and pepper fish. No draft beer.
Classic American Chinese food. Good lunch special. Nice staff. Eat on the patio!
Its a good Chinese restaurant . I have been going with my family from past one year and love the food and ambience.
Possibly the besft Chinese restaurant here in town, fantastic food, great pricing and a great atmosphere. The staff are friendly, food comes out quick and you'll always have left overs to take home
One of the better Chinese restaurants in town. Great fried rice, great chicken and respectful service. Not the busiest place, but certainly a good spot for dinner or lunch
Excellent food, good service good location but the wait staff look dour and not interested in the customer on a personal level. They performed theirs duties profunctually.
Good food, friendly good service and able to cook tasty gluten free. We would definitely go back.
I am not a fan of Chinese food...not at all! However, I recently tried this place with a group of friends and liked it so I guess I should retract the statement. If I had to eat Chinese food, this would be the only place I would go. I would recommend going with a group so you can use the lazy susan and try a lot of different dishes.
Recommend shrimp and scallop with the black bean sauce over broccoli. Very happy tummy right now! The seafood rice was delicious too!
Nice little place, extensive selection of dishes, fast service, nice staff. I'm only giving it 4 stars because I reserve 5 for something truly exceptional, but this place is very good indeed. I'd love to eat here again.
Familiar feeling Chinese restaurant. Decent selection of Chinese (mostly “American Chinese” with some exceptions) dishes including chicken, pork, beef, duck, fish, etc. Food tastes good and came out fast and piping hot. Both indoor and outdoor patio seating are available. Decor is somewhat casual, typical for a US Chinese restaurant, though not inspired. Dining area was clean but perhaps a little worn. Service was very good, fast, and attentive without being annoying.
Chinese take-out is always hit or miss. I can’t remember the good time I had good Chinese and Santa Barbara certainly has limited Asian cuisine options. I think China Palace was a solid choice! We ordered on UberEats, so I’m sure it’s even better getting it fresh at the table. Portions were generous and flavor was good. A couple chewy pieces in the chicken. I’d definitely order again!
Excellent service! What a nice man. He greeted with a smile and helped me decide on my dish. Service was prompt. Food was excellent and fast. We could hear the chef stir frying the dishes fresh for us. We had the Crispy Walnut Shrimp and the Seafood Chow Fan. The chow fan had a large mixture of seafood. Both excellent and a large quantity. Great stop along Coast Village Road!
The food here is amazing! Though you should be prepared to wait to be seated. The place is never really crowded but the lady in charge of the front desk prioritizes making dumplings in the dining room that seating the people waiting.
Was vacationing in the Montecito area and found China Palace. The orange peel chicken and the walnut shrimp were both excellent. They have a large menu with plenty of items. Service was quick and friendly.
This place is great for a quick lunch on a work day. They have an awesome lunch menu that comes complete with soup, salad, an entree and rice for around $10! It's not the best Chinese food I've ever had, but it's certainly not the worst.
Came here on a whim as we were driving through town avoiding the slowdown on the adjacent 101 freeway. We were the only ones there at 4 pm on a Sunday, but it was a pleasant afternoon with very quick service and good food. We took our Mu-Shu leftovers home and they were thoughtful enough to include a little plum sauce as well. We'll come here again.
China Palace is a longstanding venue in lower village Montecito, around the corner from the Vons shopping center and nextdoor Starbucks. They serve conventional Chinese food in their small dining room and street-facing patio. The food is comforting and tasty if not imaginative or special, and the staff are consistently friendly and attentive.
average. the soup was fine. the lamb mongolian was very fatty. fast and nice service though
Food was fine but the service wasn't. I wasn't happy with the service I received but they charged 18% gratitude on my bill.
This used to be one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the Santa Barbara area but it has gone downhill in the last three years since I was there.
Food is good and the prize is pretty reasonable but when most of the restaurants do refills on the soda, they sell by can
Cute, quaint place on Coast Village hiway, with choice of patio or indoor dining. Friendly, low-key, good service, family and kid friendly with all the classic offerings. The cream cheese wontons were delicious, loved the homemade dough they were wrapped in. Braised Peking eggplant was slightly firm for my taste but good nonetheless--definitely not crunchy. Would have liked to taste the sauce more. It didn't really come with much sauce, only what was needed for braising. A large party came in shortly after my meal was served, but server remained attentive. I'd like to try some other dishes so I will return.
Both times I went it was dimly lit with tables that hadn't been cleaned yet or with random items sitting on top of them. Just use warm-colored LED lights if you're trying to save money. Also consider playing some music at a low volume. The combination of darkness and silence makes the experience a bit depressing. The waiter is friendly but might be a bit overworked dealing with in-person customers and food delivery. The restaurant closes for an hour in the afternoon. It's not uncommon for East Asian restaurants to close temporarily in the afternoon at random hours, but if a customer arrives at a time that is approaching the closing time, let them know so they can decide whether or not to dine in; don't make them feel like you're rushing them out. Please listen to certain cues so suggestions/substitutions can be offered. If I say "I don't want rice because I'm avoiding too many carbs", that might be a good time to mention that the entree is sweet. I ordered sesame spare ribs and they tasted like they were made by Willy Wonka. Also if I order sesame anything I expect the taste of sesame to be salient (perhaps by using sesame paste), not just untoasted sesame seeds sprinkled on top of, apparently, candied ribs.
I was very disappointed to see this restaurant seating over the currently allowed capacity while dining there yesterday. It was at the end of our indoor dining experience, so we were able to leave quickly. It makes me question what other regulations are dismissed by them. The food is delicious and the staff very courteous.
Richard was great yesterday, we dined in and ordered a to-go lunch special gave us soup even though it was a to-go meal. Today I ordered whole duck and a lunch special lady was curt told me no soup even though I mentioned that Richard gave us soup for to-go lunch special. She was not friendly.
This has been our go-to restaurant for Chinese food and so I was happy to buy a Groupon to use there. I presented it today when I stopped to place a take out order. The waiter - a guy I have never seen there before - informed me they did NOT accept Groupons for take out orders...only for dine in. I said - ok, I’ll Dine in!” Then he said due to COVID they only did take out!
Read half duck on the menu which you’d figure there would be leg, breast and wing but the small container that arrived was the amount of a pigeon. The four egg rolls were 2 egg rolls cut in half and the ribs were 4 small ribs. Don’t know if door dash took the rest of our food or the restaurant figures we can’t complain if we’re not there. Three small bento boxes were not worth $50. We gave 3 stars since the food itself was average.
The food is good but it seems like the service has been Shanghaied. Is it a tax write-off? Your fortune cookie should read "Your luck will change if you go elsewhere."
I wasn't impressed their food was nothing special. It was ordinary and not worth the high prices. Also we we seated and ignored for 20 mins. Will not be back.
Food was unimpressive. Sweet and sour sauce lacked flavor, the orange chicken was pretty lackluster. Nothing to write home about.
this place used to be terrific. now it is sub-par generic chinese food. $180 for dinner for 4. won't go back.
We got soup, 2 entrees and fried rice. I poured soy sauce on it and still it was pretty flavor less. When you wish you had gotten Panda Express at a Chinese restaurant, something is wrong. Egg rolls were good and the rest feels like they don't take customer taste buds seriously. No salt, no herbs, no normal Chinese aromas, just plain and boring as if I got a microwavable frozen dinner.
I had sweat and sour pork and my daughter had some fish. Both lacked flavor and we ate about 1/2 of our meals. We did not even get our left overs to go. The staff was busy with another table, looked like they knew them, and gave us poor service, and it was only us and that other table. We used a coupon so maybe they disliked that we did that?
We ordered to go today 8-7-20 This food is overprice for the quality of food you're getting... It's not what you expect ... Especially for the location and rating it has. Veg chow mien , sweet sour chix, orange chix, veg egg rolls. $50+ for very small trays. The flavor is not good or even ok... We will not be returning here.
The service from one of the ladies was pretty rude we walked in and said hello to wait to be seated and there was no acknowledgment of any humility or respect. When we said Thank you there was no acknowledgment either. Very unprofessional and impolite staff.
Confused for a door dash driver upon walking in. Asked for a table and was told they were closed. Would suggest an update on your hours and perhaps a different approach to serving tan skinned individuals.
Don't attempt to order from them on Christmas day! Dont get me wrong i am SO grateful to have them open and provide a meal BUT this is ridiculous! They told us our online order would be ready an about 45 min and our son got there for pick up and waited for over 2 HOURS for the food. When he got back they forgot 2 meals from the order. We love ordering from them but this experience was horrible.
I went to eat here with a very hungry stomach. The food was completely gross (wouldn’t even feed to my dogs). I found a piece of plastic in my chicken, which made me stop eating. The food tasted completely frozen. This was the worst restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. I would’ve rather eaten at Panda Express!!
My egg drop soup and cream cheese wontons were sweet because they add sugar to their food!! .... If you are diabetic like me, that can be very dangerous. I requested a refund since my food was inedible and the woman became very defensive and rude. Instead of trying to find a solution to my genuine concern, she rudely spoke over me and took it very personally. I was trying to explain to her that adding sugar to dishes that don't normally have it is counter intuitive. The cream cheese wontons should be on the dessert menu...not on the appetizer menu...and I've never heard of egg drop soup needing sugar....it was gross.
I can't compare to other places in the area as we are just here for one night, but this place is ridiculously overpriced, and probably the worst Chinese food I've had in a seriously long time (from a wide variety of places around the world). Bad service, they took our drinks menu before we even read it, and walked off to place the order before I finished ordering. Oh, and if you have an allergy make sure you get them to quadruple check for allergens, as they served me something with peanuts even though I asked twice when ordering and told them of my allergy. They were very apologetic once it was discovered. All in all, a terrible experience.
easy parking, my wife said there was no chicken in the orange chicken! Haha. Just grizzle and skin. The owners and staff don't care about the customers. Since they're the only game in town chinese-wise they are busy. Too bad it's not an Indian restaurant that's what we're missing in Montecito. Also, they put a lot of MSG into the food so if you're sensitive to it go somewhere else
Very disappointed. I’m not feeling well and wanted to take-out, but they wouldn’t let us take-out and use the buy one get one deal. Insisted we had to dine-in to get the deal. I was miserable. Cheap owner forced us to eat there to get the discount. Also the Lemon Chicken was thin like paper. Won’t go back.
Food is served reheated, not freshly made, very expensive for what you get! Disappointing. Go to the one on downtown Santa Barbra instead! They were having an event and that’s why I went to the one in Montecito, but never again!
This place should be closed down. They always have issues. I called early today to check on placing an on-line order this evening. No problem. Now their website is down and says they are not accepting any more orders. 6 hungry people now eating crackers.
