One of the best pizzas I’ve ever had and most certainly in the Santa Barbara area. The base was amazing and beautifully crisp and airy. You could taste the quality from the base, cheese and tomatoes. I would love to try their different pizzas as they had a great selection on their menu, I was very impressed. Great atmosphere with outdoor setting perfect for a pint and pizza! 🍕🍻

Cool atmosphere with outdoor seating only. It started raining as we waited for our pizza but still such a great spot. The walls were mosaiced with Pennie’s. The pizza was AMAZING and I have high standards growing up in Jersey. I’m a sucker for wood fired though when I travel. We got the Hot Girl Pizza and the Farmer’s Market. Thoroughly enjoyed every last bite of both of our pizzas. Would go back here again immediately if I visit Santa Barbara again.

The Lucky Penny in the Funk Zone is an absolute must-visit. Before we even stepped inside, we knew we had found the spot. People were bringing pizzas into nearby wine tasting rooms, and the line was stretching out into the street. The pizza lived up to the hype. Every bite was incredible. Perfectly crisp crust, fresh ingredients, and flavors that felt both elevated and comforting at the same time. It’s the kind of pizza you immediately start planning your next visit for while you’re still eating. If you’re anywhere nearby, do not skip this stop.

One of the best gourmet pizza places I’ve been to. We had the OG, Margarita pizzas and an Italian chopped salad. Food quality was astounding and the service top notch. People would ask several times if we were okay or if we got all of the food we asked for. Definitely a first choice for pizza.

Wow, top notch pizza with some delightful varieties! Nice section of downtown and plenty of seating and nearby bars and fun shops. We had the East Coast Pepperoni and it was absolutely delicious. The wood fired crust was done perfectly, toppings were great, this is a winner all around. Kuddos to the staff, great work!

Came here craving for pizza. This is a sit yourself down kinda spot. But they do bring the order to you. The place is decorated beautifully with lights and a food truck. They have ample patio heaters. We got 3 pizzas. 1. Pepperoni for the kids which they loved. 2. Californian which was surprisingly yummy. 3. Custom buffalo chicken which was also really good. Service was friendly and fast. Parking can be a bit difficult. We parked in a nearby structure and walked.

What a great dining experience. It's one of those "not on the main street" hidden gems you hope are as good as the reviews... and it might be even better. My partner and I wanted to take a ride on New Years day, and because we have a few Real Estate and Solar clients in the area we can visit north of us, we took a leisurely 90 minute cruise up the 101 freeway from Toluca Lake to Santa Barbara. The drive was refreshing, the ocean sparkled & when we arrived at Lucky Penny, we were greeted by a super-friendly person at the window. At the end of the street is the ocean, so we stopped to recharge for a few minutes before going directly to the restaurant. When we ventured up to the restaurant, she took our order for a Cesar salad, the Rosso pizza (& she let me know that it didn't come with cheese, but I could add it so I added mozzarella and Parmigiano.) I also asked about hot honey and their homemade ranch as a side & I purchased their last salted chocolate chip cookie. (Thank goodness because was that tasty! 10/10) Our food arrived in a reasonable time and once we tried the Cesar salad, we knew we made a good decision. It was our first time there, but I assure you, when we return to Santa Barbara next week to list a home, we'll 100% be stopping by again. Salad: 10/10 Pizza: 9.75/10 Cookie: 10/10 Hot honey side: 9/10 (a little runny or it would have been a 10/10) Ranch: 7.5/10 (too much dill for our taste, but if that's your thing, you'll give it a higher rating.) Atmosphere was casual but inviting for all occasions but it's outdoor dining only. Except for a few parents who refused to parent their clearly spoiled children, it was really a great experience. It's 100% worth your time. Thanks guys for the fairly affordable excellent meal. Total spent, $47 with $3 tip at the register.

Very unique pizza. Had incredible flavor and a wonderful California atmosphere. The pesto pizza, the Mexican Street corn, and the cheese pizza are very unique and interesting. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Had dinner here on a Saturday evening and loved the food and the vibe. Tried their Margarita Pizza and cheey bread and both were delicious 😋 Limited street parking but yhere is a public parking place around the corner with first 75mins free parking.

Cute spot in Funk zone. Plenty of tables and greenery; really a family friendly envirnment. Staff is friendly and we can change up the pizza order to exactly what we want. We got the hot girl pizza and added chicken. Definitely recommend. My daughter loved having some leftovers. We will be going back.

One of our favorite pizza spots in Santa Barbara. After living there a few years ago, it's so nice to go back and enjoy it again. Ordered 2 pizzas (east coast pepperoni and hot girl pizza) and they were both amazing! Also ordered 2 Italian chopped salads which were so fresh. We had a group of 4, so the 2 pizzas and 2 salads were perfect for us. Tons of outdoor seating which was a great environment and relaxing. Great selection of beer and drinks! Staff was super helpful and really nice! :) Highly recommend bringing friends to Lucky Penny in the funk zone!

My wife was looking for a gluten-free pizza place and found it on Google. We didn’t realize that we were in an area in Santa Barbara called The Funk Zone, which was a very neat area that was very lively and fun to experience. This place has a walk up window where you order and all seating is outside. The food was very delicious, and it was just a nice atmosphere overall.

Great and unique take on wood fired pizza, fantastic outdoor patio and friendly staff. Bright flavors and some unique ingredients combinations made this a super memorable stop for lunch, we got the salty surfer and the street corn and loved them both! A highly recommended stop for any pizza enthusiast!

On our short weekend visit to Santa Barbara we got hit by heavy rain. Then came Sunday and sun showed up. We started on our journey of sampling food, wine and beer. The best of the best was Lucky penny Californian pizza. I have not had a pizza for many years. Do not care about it. But this pizza was a delight to all your senses. It taste good, smell good and it look so delicious and pretty. The good thing you can order it and have in any of others brewery, winery or distillery. Give them a visit.

Nice European styled pizza - according to a friend from Europe.. The gluten free option tastes great! We were five people and shared two pizza: one with mushroom and hazelnut & the other with pineapple.. both surprisingly good and the vibe also nice!

Love the panini and pizza!! The flatbread is gorgeous! You can feel the ingredients are fresh. It’s my first coming here for the pizza, and I think panini is so good!!! It’s juicy but not greasy. The beer they provide is also great!! A nice place for chill out and hangout with friends and family.

The pizza was amazing! A great finish to the day. We ordered the strawberry lemonade, as well, which complemented the pizza perfectly. The arugula and strawberry salad was also stellar. And what really tied the meal together was ambiance of the outdoor dining. Definitely one of the best in Santa Barbara!

Outdoor dining and only one size wood fired pizza. Bottled beer. Margarita pizza is excellent. Good location in the Funk Zone with wineries and a brewery across the street. Window ordering with table service.

We stopped by Lucky Penny in Santa Barbara and I have to say—this place absolutely lived up to the hype! I ordered the Salty Surfer pizza with a few customizations: I swapped the peppers for mushrooms and kept the pineapple and prosciutto combo. The vodka-based sauce tied it all together beautifully. The crust was phenomenal—crispy, chewy, and packed with flavor. Truly one of the best pizzas I’ve had in a long time! The frozen margarita was perfect for the warm weather—refreshing, balanced, and hit the spot. We also tried the Caesar salad, which wasn’t quite to our taste—the dressing had a very bold, strong flavor that didn’t quite work for us. We also ordered the pepperoni pizza, which was decent, but the Salty Surfer definitely stole the show. The only downside was the seating—we were with a group including kids, and there just wasn’t enough shade, which made it a bit uncomfortable in the heat. Overall, though, the food—especially the Salty Surfer pizza—and the atmosphere made for a great experience. I’d definitely return (hopefully with a bit more shade next time)!

I wanted to like the pizza more because it looks really good. But the truth is my east coast pepperoni pizza was greasy and blackened. I understand it's wood fired pie and bits of char are to be expected. But the overwhelming flavor was blackened char. The bottom of the pizza was mostly black. The sauce is super plain, I prefer pizza sauce with herbs and basil. The crust is good. The beer was outrageously priced at $11 for the IPA on draft and it, disappointingly, comes in a plastic cup. You order at the window, they give you a number, then bring you your food. The courtyard is beautiful with its lovely flowers and atmosphere. The Funk District is much less funky than I expected. I expected more art and more of a vibe. There's a couple murals and some flyers on telephone poles. I guess that qualifies as Funk in such a ritzy town

Decent Pizza and a coasy place. The waitress delivering the pizza, short teenager blonde ponytail, flipped out on my girlfriend for talking about stabilizing the table, and then proceeded to flip out on me later on. Worst treatment I've had by waiters on my holiday. Counter staff were nice.
