Root Burger Santa Barbara Reviews
Excellent selection of cheese lunch items and classic grilled menu. Lots of good choices, makes it hard to pick. Fries, onion rings standard sides. Plus home made milkshakes! A great option at the UCEN @UCSB.

Since campus re-opened, they've rebranded as just "root", and have pared down their menu to focus exclusively on burgers, chicken sandwiches, and salads. I haven't tried the latter two items yet, but the quality of their burgers has gone up. I had the mushroom swiss burger and it was fully cooked yet still juicy, with a generous amount of pepper seasoning the patty. Their onion rings are well above average, too, crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth soft on the inside. This may now be the best burger place in the campus/IV area.
Little salty, but quality of burger patty is superior. Reminds me of Cal Taco before theirs went to poop. I'm putting five stars to help bring up average rating, because it really is a decent burger.
speedy service, very reasonable prices, delicious burger!
The burgers and fries were really good, best burger place I tried 👍
The best burguer on campus
Great customer service, even better veggie burgers
Super fast service, great food, great price. Highly reccomend the milkshakes, I had the oreo milkshake and its one of the best I've ever had. I don't really reccomend the mac n cheese or the chicken sandwiches, they're just okay, but the burgers are good.

Nice place to grab lunch on campus. The food is great, prices are very reasonable, and there are healthy options like a lettuce wrap instead of a bun. It’s definitely a better choice than fast food.
Great comfort food. I come here whenever I’m on campus to grab a quick lunch. I recommend the chili dog, the mac n’ cheese, and the mushroom Swiss burger.
One of my favorite lunch spots on campus. I personally recommend the popcorn chicken wrap. Be aware, it's pretty spicy. The fries are also pretty delicious.
Got the veggie grilled cheese, it was good, but had American cheese on instead of cheddar as advertised.
Pretty good food, priced okay for being on campus. Wish they had spicier salsa though!
Decent food. Nice options and sides.

Greasy and messy double cheeseburger, with worrisome texture in the patty. Felt incredibly heavy in the wrong ways. Was not able to finish the mac and cheese, not the right flavor, or consistency. Overall disappointing 😕
Burgers are marginal. Wedge salad is pretty good, and might be the only appropriately priced item on the menu. This menu feels heavy and unimaginative.

The fries were good however they got my burger order wrong twice

Update: I got horrible food poisoning here from a breakfast burrito with strangely sour salsa and undercooked potatoes in it. I had to miss an entire class cause it messed up my stomach so bad. Not worth the money at all, wish I’d never eaten at this place. French fries looked good but were undercooked and bland. Buffalo blue cheese chicken sandwich was okay, the buffalo sauce had too much vinegar, it was more sour than spicy. I’ll probably try something else and see maybe they were just having a bad day.
Got a new employee that charged me sales tax for some reason (they never did before) and didn’t give me an employee discount. Messed up.
