Augie's Santa Monica Reviews
Dubbed the "best chicken on earth" by my son and wife, this place is definitely worth trying. Created by Michelin-starred Chef Josiah Citrin, who also runs two other esteemed establishments, this fast food concept restaurant focuses entirely on chicken—and maybe the fries too. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite on the go or dining in the back patio area, it's a fantastic spot to enjoy delicious, messy chicken tenders.
Came here for the dirty chicken after having it at Citrin. Wasn't disappointed. Also the people who worked there were awesome, had a definite "neighborhood" vibe.
I wasn't sure what to eat, but the lady at the counter was incredibly helpful in guiding me to a great choice. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was wonderful.
I've never had chicken like this before. It was crumbed baked and so dang good. Also the sides are amazing. Recommend the ratatouille and mushrooms. I'll definitely be going back
Spicy chicken sandwich, Mexican Coke, outdoor seating on Main St - what an incredible find. Loved every bite. (Honestly one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had.)
Dearest Josiah. I met your daughter, I know Jay, Jake . I will bring your stars back to this review. I just want to be heard. I order burger today. It is not the same burger I had when you opened. Would you raise price and keep the sane quality ? I asked medium rare , It did not hold the patty .( pic) Thx. Good luck. Probably we can not get those quality chickens unless we grow our own chicken “ Try Grill chicken sandwich!”

Don't be put off by the name! :) the chicken here is pretty amazing. You can't go wrong with the spicy chicken sandwich, the dirty chicken tenders, even the salad is great (add some tenders on top = tasty AND affordable!).
This place was fire. Chicken sandwich was bomb. The mac & cheese hotdog was great too. Fries were yummy. Great atmosphere reasonable pricing and my favorite part was the service. Marcus was awesome very friendly and down to earth
Great service and great food! We ordered on site and had the half chicken, corn ribs, and ratatouille. Nice outdoor seating area as well. Thanks!
Ordered their Thanksgiving meal for takeout and was totally impressed with everything. Every bit of it was delicious and made life so easy. Can’t wait to go back and try their regular menu!
Favorite fried chicken spot. Also love their ratatouille. Great prices considering the quality
A gem! Absolutely delicious, very creative dishes, a great amount of yummy options, outstanding customer service, Ana is in another level, she is kind, knowledgeable on top of your questions and orders in the perfect balance. I recommend it 100% and actually coming back today again. The lemon potatoes and the roasted chicken are to die for!

Awesome counter-service spot with amazing food and prices. A bunch of tables around the side of the building with a wonderful ambiance. The gal at the front was so friendly. My wife and I had a wonderful time. The chicken sandwich is excellent, along with the tenders combo. Highly recommend for about the cheapest food spot on main and one of my favorites.
I tried the fried chicken sandwich which is is made with high quality ingredients and tastes good However, it didn’t have the crunch, juiciness or spice that i like to get from a sandwich like this. I look forward to going back and trying the dirty chicken they say is meant to be the hero item on the menu.

Stopped for lunch attracted by the interesting menu and restaurant reviews. Service is a bit grumpy. We got the family chicken and it was enough for 2 adult's and 2 small children. The food was really good and partially justified the steep price (60 dollars for a small whole chicken and 2 sides is expensive). It would be interesting to try other dishes on the menu.

I was working in the area and this spot came highly recommended, so we decided to check it out. The customer service was honestly amazing- super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience really enjoyable. The food was solid overall, and I especially loved the fries. The tenders were nicely breaded and cooked well, though I felt like they could’ve used a bit more seasoning. The dipping sauces definitely helped bring everything together. I also that they need to add a hot sauce to their dipping sauce selection. Gotta have that heat. Overall, I’m glad we tried it. It’s a good spot, and I’d stop by again if I was in the area, I honestly wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to make a special trip for it. Maybe i needed to try their half chicken option. 🤷🏾♂️ FYI you have to order at the kiosk. 🙄
My sister Recommend this place to me..so I tried them out... I ordered online for the Tenders and fries.. I feel the tenders where over cook and chicken inside was dry...the fries was cook just right.. I will it other shout in the future when I get in da mood

Take out order, everything was done quickly, no notes. The food on the other hand was a disappointment. Our order was Dirty Chicken playe with ratatouille and broccolini. The breast came slightly undercooked, wrapped in uninspiring, unseasoned crust of panko breadcrumbs. The leg was surprisingly drier than Mojave Desert in July (maybe they cooked the leg separately from the breast a week ago idk), but good to see consistency as it was also wrapped in unforgivingly bland panko sand. The charred salsa dip helped, but only barely so. Ratatoille was quite nice and it was so cool to see that as a side option, but broccolini had an odd flavor that didn’t feel neither fresh nor appetizing. Tossed the plate without finising, saddened about the waste. I was hoping for the brownie to save the night, but that was somehow the worst part—just your good old dry, crumbly, depressing store bought brownie. I swear I cannot imagine anyone calling themselves a chef and working in a demanding location like Los Angeles to then prepare this brownie with their own hands. Any handmade brownie is better than whatever that was. Kids make better brownies on their first try. Drunk barely-functioning adults at 3:37am make better brownies than whatever that was. Whatever I bought from Augie’s was likely lifted at a clearance sale at a $0.99 store going out of business. Sorry, Augie’s, but never again. Loved Melisse and Citrin, but this is not the child to keep in that family.

i prolly need to try the sandwich spicy and the dirty tenders. the normal sandwich was p good texture wise but not a ton of flavor or seasoning. i also was not a fan of the mushy wet tomato texture with the crispy chicken. mac and cheese is nice but pretty simple and not sure it’s worth $6.

I came in with high expectations wanting to love this place. Left with a big disappointment. I Had the roasted chicken. It lacked flavors and chicken tasted gamey! The sides were okay. Had the lemon potatoes and barely tasted the lemon it was more sweet than citrusy.

Sorry to say it was very disappointing. I like the concept and I was optimistic given the chefs involved. The fried chicken sandwich had a very small piece of uninspired fried chicken and the roast beef sandwich was similarly disappointing. Not nearly the quality or creativity of Bread Head. Charge more offer more.
I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, it was a big miss. We ordered a chicken sandwich and a chili dog, and both were incredibly underwhelming. The chicken sandwich had a strange texture in the breading, and even with sauce, it was completely flavorless. Honestly, it was probably the worst chicken sandwich I’ve ever had—even basic fast food spots do it better. The chili dog wasn’t much better. The chili had no seasoning, no beans, and no flavor. Just bland meat on a bun. Super disappointing overall. Not worth the price, and I won’t be coming back.
