I was greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant. Service was friendly & professional. My meal came out promptly and was served at a good temperature! My salmon was a little too done for my taste, but I still enjoyed my meal! I got a to-go box for my leftover veggies. As I departed the restaurant, someone thanked me for my visit. I had a pleasant experience.

Great tacos, not far from the pier and the beach, definitely a good option if you're looking for something not fast food but not too fancy where you spend hours at your table. Bonus points for the taco Tuesday deals!

I was craving chicken tinga tacos and these were top notch. Tasted like homemade tinga tacos, very nostalgic. I also got the Baja taco and was thoroughly impressed with the flavors. The prices were fantastic. Will be back to try more but can confirm the tacos are gas

Without exaggerating, the best Tacos I ate in the US. During my travels along the west coast I stopped at many places and for me these were number one. Creative creations, all very tasty. Allergens also marked exemplary. Went here two days in a row because it was so good. On the first day I got served by an extremely friendly lady (reddish hair). The second day by a young guy with longer wavy hair. He was not nearly as friendly as the lady who served me the day before. No Hello / greeting, just looked up at me. I asked him for the very spicy (orange) sauce for my tacos, but it wasn’t brought with my food.

I came back here for the first time in years. The first time since last decade, and it seems even better than I remember it. The one staff member they had their it seems serving everyone, Elisa, made sure of that. In a world where I'm so accustomed to restaurants declining in quality and cutting corners over time, I had a great experience. Elisa, one of their workers was taking orders, delivering the food to the tables, clearing and cleaning tables by herself, and was knowledgeable about the menu. The service was excelent despite this place being understaffed. I'd definitely come back here again, and recommend it to lots of people. I ordered every taco on the menu and more. I was also here with my vegan friend who was satisfied with the selection of vegan friendly options. So if you're vegetarian or vegan this place may also be a great option for you.

Had the most delicious Spicy Cilantro bowl with extra garbanzo today along with cilantro juice. It's so good, and the spicy level is checked. Rice should cook more for me. Juice is okayish but tastes nice along with a bowl Tocaya is my first love in LA ❤️💥

Good value. Portion size you get a good amount. Everything was fresh and tasty. Celiac ok. No deep fryer. Some items GF.

Truly a wonderful surprise while walking in beautiful Santa Monica city. The ambiance caught my attention , very modern and minimalistic , and when I checked the menu , I truly wanted to try the tacos. Well , I was extremely surprised by the quality of the Tacos and also of the side dishes , like the street corn and the Agua Fresca of Pineapple and Jalapeño (amazing flavor indeed). Also the fresh salsa and the chips are excellent. The only problem with this place is parking , but oh well , that's the life in Southern California. Price was on spot for the quality offered here too. I will definitely come back or to the other locations in Los Angeles.

Wow! The fish was amazing, we are talking so so good. The asada was about the best I have had as well. Such good tortillas and great sizes to try some or grab a quick bite. We also ordered for pickup and it was so smooth. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Upscale modern Mexican food. I got the street corn bowl with chicken which was delicious. My friend got the bean bowl with avocado. We got the margarita which was extremely strong if you like that kind of thing. It has a weird almost smoky after taste. The strawberry basil juice was really refreshing and you can get free refills also. Try both of the Sriracha’s as well. Spicy but tasty. I would 100% recommend this place. The staff are also very friendly!

Tocaya is an amazing place to eat when on the West side. We originally came to visit and hang out in Santa Monica. Me and my girlfriend decided to get away from the food tourist traps on the Santa Monica strip. This place accommodates to those that prefer meat and those that are vegetarian. The tacos were great but I throughly enjoyed the quesadilla- great portions of meat and the cheese was fabulous. My lady got the sweet corn tamale and tofu burrito. The GF was a huge fan of this place as well as myself. Rare to find a place that accommodates to both ends of the food spectrum. So good we had to make sure there were other locations that we could both be beyond satisfied. Definitely coming back to try some other items on the well thought out menu.

Lots of great choices for vegetarians. Really enjoyed the Tacos and quesadilla. It is a little on the expensive side. $3.50 per taco is a bit high but taste good. Overall would recommend. Great addition to Santa Monica.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) Tocaya Modern Mexican in Santa Monica delivers a very polished overall experience. **Service:** 5/5 – Warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. **Decor:** 5/5 – Nicely decorated with a clean, modern aesthetic. **Food Quality:** 5/5 – Ingredients appear fresh and high quality. **Food Presentation:** 5/5 – Well presented, even for takeaway orders. **Food Flavor:** 3/5 – While the quality is evident, the proteins (pork and beef) lacked flavor. There was no noticeable seasoning at all, resulting in a bland bite. This is an area with clear room for improvement. With more attention to seasoning and depth of flavor, the food could easily match the strong service and atmosphere.

Nice low-key Mexican traditional eatery. Good tasty dishes. Nice large portions.

The gluten free tortilla was the best I’ve ever had, couldn’t believe it was gluten free. But none of the food actually had any flavor. I was with two people and we all got different dishes and each of us felt like our food was almost flavorless. My beans were also quite hard and upset my stomach the next day. The staff was kind and friendly though.

Great take on Mexican food and reasonably priced on Taco Tuesdays however beware of a line going out the door. Comes out to about $20 bucks per person. Great food, great service and would come back. Great west side spot but nothing to seek out or have a following.

The environment was super nice and trendy, the tacos and food were all pretty good, they got our food out fast, but just messed up our order a bit. The reason for 3 instead of 5 is the tacos were good, but not amazing like they were hyped up to be. They felt pretty basic and nothing to get me dying to come back. The corn tamale was great though probably a four star quality!

Food was good although portion sizes are a bit small. The place is like an upscale Chipotle. The service was awful. We walked in and placed orders for takeout and waited 25 minutes watching people get their food before us despite ordering after us. I don’t mind waiting for food in general especially if I know the kitchen is slammed, but they weren’t and it was the attitude that was the worst. The staff seemed very unbothered when we asked them for an update on the status of our food. Only when I seemed to find a manager did our food suddenly appear within 1 minute. 👀

The cocktail I ordered was good, but the 2 mains we ordered were so bad we could not eat them at all, unacceptable to serve this. A small burnt piece of Salmon and the worst refried beans I have seen in a long time. Was sad and disappointed that this is the level at this location right now.
