Duke's Chophouse Schenectady Reviews
Wonderful experience. Everyone was very friendly and professional. Decor was upscale modern but classy not overdone. Food was exceptional best wagu burger I have ever had and my family was pleased with their choices too. Terrence was our terrific server!
Addendum: dined at the bar solo tonight and it was just as good. The service was quick and efficient. I repeated choices from the prior visit specifically the Caesar salad and the crabcake appetizer. Both were great, although the crabcakes were clearly overly salted, although it may have been the romulade. The check was presented quickly and overall and a great solo meal. Our first time here. Early dinner seated promptly. A booth in back could not hear the casino noise. Taken care of by Terrance who did a great job. Checked in often requests handled promptly. Entrees are in the mid 30’s and up. Salads in the high teens and sides in the teens as well. A cosmopolitan was delivered made as requested. The warm rolls were superb and addictive! “Everything bagel” butter was perfect on the bread. We had two salads two apps and a side. The chopped salad has great with kale and romaine as well as yellow beets apples and a maple vinaigrette. Wonderful cold and crisp. The wedge contained the usual plus onions. Rather than one large iceberg wedge there were multiple pieces of lettuce. For dinner we had a shrimp cocktail…4 large shrimp (10-12 size I’d guess) with a cocktail sauce that could have been spicier. The shrimp were carefully de-shelled. The crab cake appetizer was perfect. Two large crab cakes served On remoulade sauce. All crab, no filler. A slight bit oilier than I’d like but superb. We also share a ($12!) baked potato served with bacon butter and sour cream on the side. One small complaint-we were charged for shredded cheese, not requested nor were we told about the charge. Potato was great. We passed on dessert. Note to Duke’s management-improve the dessert menu. Describe the items don’t just list them. Tell us something about the cheesecake or explain “hot chocolate cake”. The menu is boring and not enticing. Overall wonderful and relaxing, albeit expensive! We will be back!
Steven was one of the best waiters I have ever had.. very good at his job and made the night remeberable
One of the best meals …. Server and manager were great cocktails were fabulous will definitely be coming back came to celebrate my retirement Dukes did not disappoint
Dinner with friends. Appetizers were fried lobster, short ribs, tuna tostada, stuffed mushrooms and crab cakes. Entrees were Braised short ribs, Sea Bass, Prime rib. All was well prepared. Fish was butter soft, prime rib with the salt crust was delicious, Braised short ribs tasted marinated in something like a teriyaki, not my favorite but tasty. We were serenaded by a pianist while we ate. She was good. Played some Stevie Wonder, John Mayer, even some Michael Jackson! Overall I'll be back. It's a must when visiting Rivers Casino.
First time visiting Duke’s Chophouse. The food was hot, tasty and plentiful. The bread was warm and came with warm wet naps which was a nice touch. The drinks were very tasty. Espresso martini was great. Our server Stephanie was attentive and sweet. I would come here again. It is a little pricey but I was not disappointed. We had plenty of food and took most of it home.
My wife and I had our new years day dinner comped, and like all the other times we've eaten here, we were not disappointed. I had chicken picatta and she had seared scallops. Both meals were extremely flavorful and cooked and served correctly. Another memorable meal at Duke's
I had a wonderful experience lastnight start to finish. The food was amazing and our waiter (I believe his name was Terrance) was so patient and kind, he really went out of his way to take sure we had a great mom’s night out so thank you to him especially for that. I can’t wait to come back!
Good tasting food! Waitress was very attentive. We were in a little hurry, so food came out super fast. Pricey, but that's to be expected. Can pay with casino comps and credits.
John our waiter was great. The atmosphere was fantastic and the steaks were good. The broccoli rabe was very bitter. All around nice place.
Mac and cheese was awesome. Soup was out of this world. Bread 🥖 awesome, crab cake great. Ribeye steak cook great just need a little more seasoning. Server was the best. So nice 😊
Lamb chops are back. They've been back for some months now. Hoping they don't remove them from the menu again so I'm going 1-2 times a week getting them. If you ask to have them cut individually they will do so. Four comes in an order but they only cut them in half so 2 are still together so it only looks like two comes in an order. I love lamb chops but their a rare find in the capital region. Don't sit at the bar if you're in a rush. You may sit there for 30 mins without being served. It's hit or missed.
Very good restaurant located right off the casino floor. Pricey, but the food and drinks were excellent! Good service and a quiet relaxed vibe. Highly recommend!
The filet was amazing (so tender with tons of flavor!) and so are the mashed potatoes. Skip the salad though lol.
The wife and I had a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner. Despite the place being packed, the service was good. The food was fantastic even though it was high-priced. We won't be back only because of how expensive it is.
We just had the most amazing waitress at your establishment, Samantha was nothing but positive energy and attentive to us the whole time . Constantly checking to make sure our food and dining experience was Perfect ☺️. The Restaurant was clean and the setting was Romantic and personal . My Girlfriend loved the place and loved the food . I can't say enough about your Restaurant and staff . 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 From us guys ❤️. THANK YOU FOR A GREAT DATE NIGHT ❤️.
Kimberly, shift manager, warmly welcomed us. She made sure we were satisfied with our delicious dinner. Our waiter, Steven, was always smiling and did a fabulous job.
It was honestly fire and I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the prices were. We will be attending again
We had an amazing dinner and cocktails. The piano player was incredible with the perfect mix of songs. But the best was our server, Nadia T. Honestly one of the best servers we’ve ever had. Very attentive, very sweet and knew when we needed something and when to Leave us alone.
We had a fantastic time celebrating my husband ‘s birthday. Our server was amazing, attentive and funny. The manager stopped by for a friendly chat. Steak and wagyu burger were perfectly cooked. They even brought out a beautiful (comped) dessert to help us celebrate. It is located right off the gaming floor but the atmosphere and service make it feel a world away. Highly recommend!
My husband and I sit and dine at the Duke’s bar almost weekly. We will also occasionally dine in the dining room. We absolutely love the staff at Duke’s. The food has also seemed to improve since hiring a new executive chef. Amaya always goes above and beyond to make us feel special and as a bar manager, I really appreciate having such a skilled bartender waiting on me. Dukes and Rivers is very lucky to have her! I’d try to steal her away if I wouldn’t miss having her at our favorite spot so much 😆 Other team members that should be mentioned are Deanna, Deb and John. They are all such wonderful finds for Dukes!!!
Went there on Thursday night for my son‘s birthday, everything was really good. I got the lobster mac & cheese, and it was delicious! My son enjoyed his filet mignon.
Delicious dinner here with excellent service by Nadia. All the food was fabulous except the lobster risotto. Prime rib was cooked to perfection. Calamari perfectly fried, generous portions, and had a really nice peppery hint. Nadia also very kindly gave me the slightly larger piece of prime rib vs. my husband which I really appreciated!!! Nadia was attentive, thoughtful and always on step ahead, noticing we needed things before we even asked, let alone thought about it.
Overall very good. Ordered the bone in ribeye. Service was very accommodating to request to sit in back dining room where it is much less noisy. One drink took a while to come out, so they took it off the bill. Would love to see Dry Age steak offerings. Menu is much more diverse than typical steakhouse which is pleasant to see. Overall, would go back!
The food was fantastic. The short rib was one of the best I've had. The filet was cooked perfectly and was what you would expect from a prime filet mignon. The location is nestled inside the casino making easy access to the bar top for food and drinks. We opted to eat at the bar top and enjoy some of the football game before hitting the casino. If your looking for more of a white linen experience they also offer seating far enough away from the casino to provide a more intimate dining experience. Over all it was a great meal. I would recommend it and do plan on returning on another visit when in the area.
Hubs and I are local to area and decided to check out Dukes for ValentinesDay dinner, based off friend's recommendation. Appetizer- braised pork belly Entrees- 12oz Filet with Brussel Sprouts and House salad as sides - Lobster Mac & Cheese w/ House Salad Beverages- cocktail, Blue Moon, Glass of Conundrum Red Blend Total w/ o gratuity- $202. Our server, John, was superior. Due to volume we did wait about an extra 10-15 minutes on check- but, it was a holiday The food was outstanding. Sirloin was perfectly cooked. The Mac & cheese had about $30 worth of lobster in it: huge, meaty chunks and plentiful. This entree stayed piping hot throughout dinner. Highly recommend whether you are local or visiting.
John, our server was awesome and made sure we were taken care of. Massive portions, they bring out warm bread to start, we had a cesar salad, arancini balls, 22 oz ribeye and crab cakes. The only issue we had was a bunch of gnats flying around our table. John was great and moved us to a different one, and we didn’t really notice them this time around.
Very good meal but everything is a la carte so it can get a bit pricey. The pianist was good but a bit too loud. We were not able to hear one another easily during dinner. Waiter and waitstaff were efficient. I'd recommend Dukes.
Excellent meal! Had the shrimp and the loaded fries. Awesome. Lamb was excellent too.
Seated promptly by nice people, steak was great, atmosphere was good, wine was top shelf, had a good time, felt comfortable...thanks for a great evening....
The food was absolutely the best. This was confirmed by everyone of a reserved party of 20. The only issue was the slow service in a half empty restaurant. It took 30 minutes to get drinks, bread and water and 2 hours to get our food. We were not happy until we tasted our meals which were amazing..Kudos to the Chef...3 Stars due to slow service...otherwise 5 stars...✅
To start off with the atmosphere was lovely. The staff was pleasant. My servers name was Chris. … seem like he was just trying to get through his day. I ordered a salad and a ribeye. The salad was delicious. The ribeye was cooked perfectly. The roasted garlic rosemary infused was frozen cold. Upon second request. It was room temperature…. At the end of the meal I ordered a cup of lobster bisque. It was served cold when I asked if that was the way it was supposed to be served. They brought me a new cup perfect….. the only pull backs would be to remind the kitchen to serve food that is appropriate temperature….
I was expecting a really nice evening out with my husband and hoping for a great meal in a nice fancy place. My 22oz Ribeye for $60 and it wasn't that great, not very tasty at all. Everything seemed to fall short overall and too expensive for what we received. Our waiter was missing half the time... where did he go? It was only 5pm and not very busy. The garden salad had big chunks of parmesan cheese & chick peas?? Weird. I wouldn't waste your money. We won't be be back ....
It's usually hard to gage elegance in a restaurant but not in this case. While the food was good and the food service was great the atmosphere was anything but. We sat at the bar for dinner as we usually enjoy the added banter but the bus bucket full of dirty and disgusting dishes of prior guests gone by was just to much. The bartender told us to change seats rather than remove the full bus bucket full of empty bowls of tomatoe bisque and previously knawed steak bones. It's amazing how a little hospitality arrogance by one snooty bartender can ruin a $400.00 dinner for two. Deanna needs to go back to charm school.
I was pretty disappointed with Duke’s Chophouse, especially for the price point. For a place branded as a “high-end” chophouse, the food quality and presentation did not match the expectations. Paying $50 for an 8oz filet mignon that tasted like something you’d get at a chain restaurant was frustrating. The steak itself was bland and lacked flavor. The Caesar salad had a watery taste, and the Wagyu burger was nothing special or memorable. The drinks were fine, but they didn’t make up for the food. On the positive side, the restaurant is clean and the space itself is nice. Unfortunately, the overall experience doesn’t justify the pricing. Calling this a high-end chophouse feels like a stretch, and I wouldn’t say it’s worth the cost.
Disappointing for the price. The oysters weren't great, the calamari was extremely bland. My stuffed sole was underwhelming and very watery. My fiance's dinner was decent. The only thing that was great was the risotto. For a $143 meal, it was nowhere near worth it. The other restaurants in the casino are better and much cheaper.
First off, I stood at the Host stand for over 5 minutes and no one came over to take care of me. I literally had to confront a waiter to ask him if he was going to continue ignoring me. He went and got someone else to take my order (which I wanted to-go). 20 minutes I was told. It has now been 29 minutes and I am still waiting....and this is after a $20.00 tip for a TO GO order. As you can see by the photo....no one waiting....except me 😖
We hope this review is welcomed by Dukes Chophouse Food & Beverage Manager in good spirits for them to improve their customer experiences. The restaurant atmosphere is nonexistent. It is located alongside the casino floor with its bar area both outside on the casino floor and in what I assume is the restaurant bar lounge. According to the photos marketing the restaurant, there is a dining room in the back; however, despite having prior reservations, we were seated up front in the overflow bar restaurant area next to the kitchen, in full view of the casino's slot machines and constant background noise. We requested to be moved but were told there was no room for us in the backroom despite empty tables everywhere, and it was already 7:30pm. This was not what I had expected, anticipating spending approximately $600 or more for dinner for 4, including drinks. We can only assume that the restaurant and casino are profitable, so why haven't the developers tried to create an upscale entryway, such as a screened wall with an entryway to minimize the view and constant clanging noise that any diner is subjected to? Food: The $23 shrimp cocktail was rubbery as it had been prepared quite earlier most likely sitting in the fridge for some time. The ribeye steak was ordered medium-rare and came out medium with pink throughout. The $58 ribeye steak had no flavor at all, even with the bone-in. It had no rich, buttery flavor -- just bland requiring the use of a significant amount of salt and pepper for seasoning. Note: The restaurant does not indicate if the meat is rated Prime or Choice. Desserts are purchased off-property from a bakery nearby. The Chocolate Blackout cake from Villa Italia is delicious but should be served at room temperature and not cold. Cold diminishes the rich, moist sponge texture and the flavors of chocolate. Lastly, no restaurant manager was milling around to come over and ask if we had enjoyed our visit. It appears as if they do not care, and again, spending at least $600 for 4 would have incentivized them to simply say hello. Oh, BTW, I was seated in full view of the hostess stand and could view additional diners being seated. When we left, numerous empty tables were still in the so-called dining room at the back.
I have never written a bad review of a restaurant before. I really wanted to love Duke's, however 2 of us ordered the 22 Oz ribeye and it was not good. Not good quality meat, full of gristle. I love steak and I left more than half. The server was polite, but didn't really care when I said that the steak was not good. I paid for my food regardless but when we complained she should have had the manager come and talk to us. It was a nice looking place, but I wouldn't go back again.
When we first got there the lady checking reservations had quite the attitude she was a heavier set lady so maybe she was hangry or something I’m not sure however our actual server was good. The steak was dry and overcooked and the calamari was extremely salty the bread was good I probably wouldn’t recommend this place the quality of food doesn’t match what they’re charging
It's really not fair that a place like this can get away with charging in excess of $30 for a bad steak. It's not the prep or the cooking; it's simply low quality beef. Anyone thats cooked a steak knows that hours or days of prep cant make up for the fact that the only thing that matters is the quality of the beef and the cut; a good steak can be iron seared for ten minutes and be delicious. When i complained about the quality, the manager informed me their steaks were dry aged for so long, prepped with these spices etc etc which, even if true, cant cover up poor quality meat. Im guessing they figure most people either wont come back, are drunk, or have no taste. When i go to a casino im used to the atlantic city or vegas treatment; there are really good restaurants to make it an enjoyable experience regardless of how much you win or lose. The other restaurants in the scenectady casino arent supposed to be great (theyre either fast or the really bad chinese place); if they want people to stay, spend their money, have an 'experience', therefore, this would be the place to make it. Instead, it's just a ripoff.
It was my first time dining there for my father's birthday. For the price of 4 people, the food was not worth it. The gnocchi and the rack of lamb were underwhelming with no seasoning (the lamb was a nice medium rare). 2 orders of the chicken marsala were made by completely 2 different chefs; One was very, very heavy on the sauce and the other was okay. The $80 seafood dish was slightly overdone with the lobster being chewy. The drinks and staff were wonderful, but overall, I don't know if it was an off night for the kitchen but for $274, I don't plan on going back.
Service was ok the waiter was respectful. However I order the lump crab cakes and the 22oz rib eye with asparagus. The crab cakes were ok but salty. I recieved a prime rib and everyone who has eaten at almost any casino knows buffet prime rib, two thumbs down. I asked the waiter what did I order and he knew I ordered a ribeye so why he delivered a prime rib is beyond me. I guess he didn’t think I knew the difference. After pointing out the error he was very apologetic and offered me a replacement ribeye and free desert which I politely declined. The asparagus was the best thing I received. Yet for a solo meal costing $140 tip included, I was better off putting that money in a slot machine.
Food used to be so good . Went for my birthday dinner . My Mac and cheese was yummy . Salad to much garlic (weird) and my husbond had steak it was well ! They remade it better ,but the ribeye had no good flavor . I had cream brulee it was not good at all . Sad
I ordered a medium rare burger and received a burnt hockey puck. Worst burger I have ever had. If they can’t cook a burger correct I can’t imagine a steak. I do not recommend.
First, it was 35 minutes before anyone approached our table and another 15 minutes before we were given a bread basket which, by the way was the best part of the meal. We had finished the bread before our orders came . My husband and friend ordered the burgers (25.00, 10.00 for mashed potatoes). My husband enjoyed his but my friend who is a professional musician and has eaten all over the world said it was one of the worst meals he had ever had. I ordered a steak and mashed potatoes. The steak was cold and tough and the mashed potatoes X3 were cold and lumpy. Actually the signature of all 3 items was COLD! All our meals were cold, and how anyone could enjoy a meal with the ceaseless cacophony going on outside in the casino is beyond me. We went because we had heard nice things about it, needless to say, we won't be going back.
Got violently ill after eating here. Spent my boyfriend's entire birthday in the bathroom projectile vomiting. I ate gnocchi. Never had such a horrible experience.
Had a horrendous dinner on Saturday 2/17. Ordered the lamb chops, which I had there 2 weeks prior and were great. This time not so great. Let's preface with the food taking almost an hour to come to our table of 2. We literally had a basic order of chopped salads, french onion soup and lamb chops. Salads were the only saving grace. French onion soup was awful, tasted of bouillon only. No cheese melted over the top. Just unacceptable. Lamb chops were overdone and extremely fatty. I have never seen lamb chops with so much fat. The kitchen really should have known better than to send these out. Again, total miss here.
Website clearly states restaurant is open from 11 am to 1 am. I attempted to place an order at 10:55 pm and was told kitchen is closed. This is at a casino where I choose to spend my hard earned money and to be denied a meal before stated close is absurd. Please do better dukes!
The first dish I had, which was the braised short rib was tough the mashed potatoes and the spinach very salty so I didn’t eat it. I just had a little bit of it after that I got a lobster tail and a baked potato. There were tons of salt on the outside of the baked potato And the lobster tail was so salty and the taste was pure fishy, so sorry I love the Waiters and waitresses they are phenomenal. Love them all but the food sorry one star and this review is after this happening on two other occasions anyway, I hope it gets better cause I really do enjoy the atmosphere and the Weight staff are great..
