Nick's on Madison Seattle Reviews
Great happy hour! We had espresso martinis (with cream added), truffle fries to share, and the beef and chicken sliders! All the food was great. Happy hour is served at the bar only, and we had a great seat looking out of the large windows. Staff was attentive and friendly! Parking is limited, but there were still spots available early on a Friday for HH!
I wish I photographed some of the other appetizers because they were so yummy. I love their appetizer selection and trying everything. Lovely environment to dine in casually or for a fancier night out.
Fabulous contemporary American cuisine in a cheerful ambiance! Wine married perfectly with the food. The halibut was as good as I’ve ever tasted! And all the seafood and produce was so incredibly fresh!! Great date spot!
Had dinner here tonight and sat at the bar since I was alone. Nick took care of me and was so friendly and welcoming! The food (cauliflower/parmesan soup, burrata, and chicken breast) was absolutely delicious! The vibe was lively, friendly and welcoming. Sadly, I did not save room for dessert but after browsing the menu, I’ll definitely save room next time!
We made a last minute reservation here and wow I am so glad we did. This place is 1) so beautiful on the inside 2) has the most maxing food and drinks and most importantly 3) the service was amazing. I felt like I knew the people that worked there, like we were old family friends. That in itself makes this place so worth it. The to top it off the food was amazing. I had the steak, husband had the chicken, and sister had the Bolognese and wow it all was so amazing. We finished up with the most amazing deserts. 10/10 would come again and will be a recommend to all our friends
GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD RESTAURANT . CRAFTED COCKTAILS . NICE BAR SEATING. FRIENDLY STAFF . AMAZING DINNER AND STARTER MENU . SAY HI TO NICK THE OWNER, ALWAYS MAKES ME FEEL WELCOME
One of our best food experiences in Seattle. The Blast sandwich was DELICIOUS. Ambiance is absolutely beautiful and prices are fair I have to say my favorite part was how friendly the staff was. We got great recommendations of places to visit in The city
We are so thrilled to have found this place. Great decor and ambiance, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the food was top notch. Really fresh ingredients and unique flavor combinations. Portions were perfect. The halibut dish and charcuterie boards were my fave but would eat any of it again! We will be back!
Nick's on Madison has delicious appetizers, entrees, and drinks! The staff is especially polite and really made us feel welcome.
When you are here, you are family. Sue's Caesar and the Veggie burger are my go to but the other seasonal items like the risotto, desserts, and wine list are worth the trip everytime!! Hospitality is unmatched!
As usual, really good cocktails and awesome food. I love this restaurant and the vibe. The halibut was sooooo good.
Fine local bistro. Halibut was excellent hangar steak hit the spot.
We got the cocktails, pork buns, brussel sprouts, fried chicken sandwich, and the risotto - everything was so good! We loved the ambience - the hosts and servers were all incredibly nice. We were in a rush, so got the chocolate sundae to go and again it was amazing!!! Thank you so much - we are so glad to have stumbled upon this neighborhood gem and we will be back soon!
Great tasting food, amazing ambience and great service. What more could you ask for? I felt right at home with my sister dining at Nick's. Nick(the owner)is also a great guy, if you stop by say hi and try the Spicy Margarita cocktail 🌶😋
Truly one of the best meals my Mom and I have had in some time. If you’re a party of two, we highly recommend the steak and halibut and splitting them…the flavors work very well with each dish, but they also blend together into an amazing culinary experience. 👏🏽
Been eyeing Nick’s for a while now and after we stopped in for desert and a glass of wine a few months ago, we dioceses to give dinner a shot. It didn’t disappoint! The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating! The food is delicious and well portioned. We’ll definitely be returning!
We love Nick’s! They have the perfect selection of appetizers (Burrata! Shrimp cocktail! Calamari!) and mains that never disappoint. Their drinks are 12/10 (A+ wine list!) - you won’t go thirsty. But it’s the service that keeps us coming back. Nick could not be a kinder more thoughtful soul to anyone that comes through the front door. It’s an elevated neighborhood restaurant that you want to spend time at which is what makes us keep coming back. Highly recommend.
I have had the pleasure to dine here on a few occasions and wanted to leave this review. Nick’s on Madison is above and beyond the standard restaurant. When you walk in you’re greeted by very friendly staff. The food is fantastic and well prepared. The owner Nick will come to your table to introduce himself and ask if there is anything that you may need. The atmosphere here is very warm and inviting.
Awesome food and drinks! Atmosphere was amazing! Wait staff and owner were amazing!
An unassuming gem where everyone gets to feel like a cherished neighborhood regular. Server Natasha and owner Nick went out of their way to congratulate my partner and I on our upcoming wedding. The food was spectacular- well seasoned, bright flavors and beautifully plated. I enjoyed the seared halibut with forbidden rice and green curry. My partner had the bolognese which was rich and delicious. The small charcuterie was just the right starter for two and featured a firm cheese and a soft ripening cheese paired with candied walnuts, crackers, and salumi. The spicy margarita and black Manhattan were the perfect drinks to start off date night. We will gladly return again and again to Nick’s on Madison!
I never write reviews but Nicks on Madison deserves it. It’s my favorite spot in the neighborhood. The ambiance is super cute and the food and cocktails are great. The staff and owner have always been so friendly and welcoming. 10/10
I was in the Seattle area in July of 2024 and met a business associate at Nick's. The menu and fare were impressive. The food was excellent and served in a timely and professional manner. The staff were simply excellent! Nick, you've hired well. More importantly, I had a minor issue with two charges that appeared on my corporate VISA account. One of the charges was for $17.45. I called and spoke with Nick, the owner and he took care of it. BOOM! If you've not tried Nick's on Madison, you really need to treat yourself to Nicks! I'll definitely will be back!
Nick's is a staple for us and we love coming to this place. Good food, great ambience and Nick personally comes to greet the guests on their table making it a very personal experience. With respect to food we personally love their risotto, veggie burger and different appetizers and sides. They are willing to accommodate you and make substitutions based on your dietary restrictions. Also good wine and cocktails selection if you fancy a drink. Will definitely recommend trying it out when you are around the area.
What a cool little place! We came to town for a quick visit, saw Nicks on Madison on Google with great reviews, it was worth the ride. Service was excellent, food was excellent, the owner Nick was really cool and took the time to chat with us. We had the Halibut, Rib Eye Steak and the Squash Risotto...all were excellent. Will go back again when in town.
Five stars all around. The Brie & Apple sandwich was a delightful surprise. So tasty. So was the green salad. Atmosphere is warm and Cape Cod-feeling. But with sports on the tele - yay! Love the layout and will be grabbing a spot at the wraparound bar next. Nick rocks!
Our company had a celebration at Nick's on Madison. It was perfect for our party of 11. The atmosphere was so warm and inviting. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. I enjoyed my Bee's Knees cocktails, each of the beautifully presented appetizers, my duck breast as my main dish, and the flourless brownie Sunday (to die for). Everyone in the group seemed to love their various main dishes and salads.
Highly recommend. Wait time on food was about 10 minutes after ordering. The environment is well kept and friendly. Food was phenomenal. Sweet cheeks and I had our 2.5 year old with us and he was being a good boy. The waitress surprised him with a little hot wheel toy. He was a happy little camper! Thank you for the great service
What a great experience. I needed to charge my phone and they helped me out with that. The staff was very fast and food came out quickly even thought it was busy with only 2 people in the front. Salad and beer were good, and I was able to continue with my phone charged. Great service and it seems like they will continue to do a great job. Thanks a lot guys.
I walked in and thought it was going to be unreasonably expensive based on the decor and the location. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the sandwiches were pretty reasonably priced and they were good portions. I'd recommend. I'd come back. I had the French dip and it was tasty tasty.
We had a delightful first time experience at Nick’s. The service was very polite, helpful and well-timed – neither rushed nor waiting. It was alive and buzzing with an eclectic crowd. The prawn cocktail and beet salad were inventive takes on classics. The kalbi steak entrée had a yummy mustard sauce that perfectly complimented both the meat and the accompanying salad. The veggie black bean burger was delicious and the fries were to die for! The wine pours were well-balanced, tasty and generous. Last note: the person who recommended the restaurant was sitting at a nearby table! Like them, we will be back to sample more of the menu.
Seattle- so many choices in dining, too many reviews celebrating mediocrity. Well Nicks on Madison does more then set the bar high- they blew the lid off of it. Sure the food was delectable, of course the place was charming, but it was the server who made our date-night a success. The light conversation included menu recommendations, what to do after dinner and (with great alacrity) an educated in-depth look at the cocktails! So it it’s a birthday, anniversary or just a reward for getting through the week, walk- nay, run to Nicks on Madison and order yourself a much deserved libation (I suggest the Old Cuban). You can thank me later.
We went to Nicks’s for dinner Saturday night. Food, service, ambiance all great. You can tell they really care about doing things well. We had so much fun. And everyone was so nice. Highly recommend going here. We plan to go back many times.
Can you have a warm and cool vibe at the same time? Yes! Friendly staff, clean decor and simple one page menu where I wanted to try everything. I chose the halibut with green curry and forbidden rice. Hubby chose the fried chicken sandwich. Both delicious! Bonus warm vibes: the bartender walked an older lady to the door. Bonus cool vibes: floor to ceiling Golden Girls wallpaper in the bathroom.
Nick’s on Madison was amazing. Fabulous neighborhood spot with comfortable yet upscale ambience. The staff is incredibly talented, kind, and professional. Beatriz was especially remarkable! The food was amazing. You could get anything from a burger to a great cut of steak or even a pasta and all of it is good. All around, Nick’s is a neighborhood favorite and a great place for anyone to get to know the flavor Madison Park.
Such a cute spot!! I got a fabulous glass of rose and the gnocchi. Servings are small so order the apps. Overall a wonderful vibe and delicious food. We were celebrating a birthday and the owner came out to wish us well. Very thoughtful and kind guy!
Holy COW!! We had made a reservation online at another local establishment and when we arrived they were closed - we decided to try a new place and called Nick and he set up a table outside for us! That alone would have made us feel special on our first date night in months, but the food, drinks, and service were exemplary. We stuffed ourselves and still ended up eating leftovers on the ride home; thinking about the steamed pork bun and French dip was just too overwhelming! The Brussels sprouts were also the BEST I have ever, ever had... And that's no small feat! Everything was super fresh and delicious, and we felt like regulars by the end of our meal even though it was our first time there. We can't wait to come back, and are looking forward to checking out the super cute boutique next door ❤️
We had a really wonderful experience here. The food, drinks and space were all amazing, but we were most appreciative of Nick’s thoughtfulness and warmth. I complimented him on his restaurant, and my partner and I left shortly after because we had finished our meal. Nick jogged out to us, insisting on shaking my partner’s hand to meet and thank him. True kindness in such a form is rare. We will be back, excited to support him.
Nick's my go spot where the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Love the staples like their burger but also the rotating seasonal menu. Great cocktail and wine options but my fave is their espresso martini with the local cold brew. Not too sweet!
The lunch menu was delicious and we look forward to going back to order from the dinner menu soon. Excellent service by the owner, Nick. A clean, bright and cheery restaurant, a full bar. Customers are respectful of others and music is played low in the background My favorite kind of dining!
Best French Dip I've ever had!! Washed down with deelish black Manhattan cocktail.... SUPER YUM!! Owner Nick greeted and waited on us at the bar. He's a gracious host and knows his business!! 😋😋😋
Nicks was a nice random find for a Friday night! Considering everything we would go back here again. The food was good, the atmosphere is very inviting and the service was quick and friendly. We got the mushroom bruchetta, fried chicken sandwich, the black bean burger and finally the chocolate sundae brownie for dessert. The bruschetta and the brownie sundae was my favorite, I regretted not getting a second order! The black bean burger was a little dry/bland. The chicken sandwich was good, with a nice moist juicy piece of chicken in the center. But could have used more seasoning flavor. I'm generally a spicy fried sandwich kinda guy, would have been nice to have a spicy version on the menu!
Nicks is wonderful, Nick, the owner is a very engaging warm person that absolutely makes you feel at home. I will say though that your bar business could explode with the right warm and inviting individual at the bar. What I once thought was a "bad day" is a permanent horrible attitude by Nick the bartender. He just doesn't connect with anyone in a real way, and I always feel like I am putting him out for any simple request.....i think you need a bar tender that makes people feel welcome, smiles, makes eye contact and chats you up! your business would more than double in the bar for sure!!!
I went here with a group of friends based on their recommendation. Nick's is definitely upscale, but with a casual feel. Menu is nothing fancy, but really good options. I had the friend chicken sandwich and a Manhattan. I also had the Chocolate Sundae for dessert, but it's more of a chocolate brownie with some ice cream. Prices can be expensive depending on what you order... Service was consistent and good.
Really great and fresh! Impressive diversity in the menu without being overwhelming. The burrata appetizer was particularly good! All food we had was high quality in taste in ingredients. The cocktails were solid, but didn’t blow us away.
All of the food was delicious and very fresh. However, the experience was basically ruined due to how hot it was inside. It was 82 outside and 83 inside the restaurant (according to their thermostat). The air conditioning either wasn’t running or they don’t have it. Many people in the restaurant were clearly uncomfortable with the heat. We wanted to stay for dessert but it was just too hot.
Don’t go by the ratings, the food is very average for the price you pay. Sure their ambience is awesome, with lots of sun on a nice day. My friends and spouse did not like their salad, Halibut and risotto. And my black bean burger was dry and the patty had no salt. Overall, I would not recommend this place for the price you pay.
My husband and I had dinner before a show. The positives are the warm welcome and great service. It was obvious that there were a lot of repeat customers dining. My caesar salad was made with bottled Italian dressing, an anchovy had never been invited. The added chicken was a bought pre-grilled breast reheated, dry. My husband had the hamburger that was also obviously bought as a frozen paddy and cooked, dry. We had one glass of wine and one beer, $80. Why people are raving about this restaurant is a mystery. It could be the cocktails. We noticed that everyone dining ordered the cocktails. It could be the warm welcome and service. I hated to post this about a neighborhood restaurant but the overwhelming 5 stars seemed deceptive.
Cute place but went in as two women of color sitting at the very small bar… and the bartender proceeded to serve 3 different people who arrived after us. This was the second time I gave this place a chance because I went for dinner once and the food was mid. And my martini literally had chips of ice in it.
Just visited Nick's on Madison for a Valentine's Day dinner and had a pretty rough experience. Here's what went wrong: The restaurant was not full, a handful of open tables sat there through our dinner service so we were extra confused by what happened. We waited 15 minutes after being seated before a drink order was taken. When we finally got to put in our food orders, the appetizer came out relatively quickly but was pretty small and disappointing. We then waited 45 more minutes for our mains to arrive, which they did not. Our server told us the "kitchen had gotten confused" and our orders would be ready soon. She then brought a small charcuterie board as compensation but we didn't want or need this food. Still, our mains did not arrive. Eventually the bar manager came over to apologize and claimed he'd "knock half off our bill." The mains eventually arrived well over an hour after our arrival and were lackluster. When we closed our tab, only the $19 calamari appetizer was removed from the bill out of a total of $140. Later the same night update, they just called me 30 minutes later and said they would try to rectify the 50% off the tab. Okay. We will not be going back to this restaurant or recommending it to others. Honestly after this debacle the entire experience should have been comped.
Rude staff. Bad atmosphere. I went on Friday at 4:20 with my husband, mother in law, and 18 month old and it was completely dead. Not another person seated. Immediately upon walking in the server had an unwelcoming aura. (Our 18 month old was in a great mood, and there were no signs saying no persons under 18.) When my husband asked for a high chair the server raised her eye brows and said sure. She brought it to our table and my mother in law asked if it could be placed across from the seat beside her and the server said “I’ll let you figure it out” and dropped the highchair. I went around and got it, placed it where we wanted it and put my daughter in. We felt incredibly unwelcome and decided to leave. As we took our daughter out of the high chair she started to cry, and as we were walking out I heard the bartender laugh loudly and say to another person “I’m glad I won’t have to listen to that for three hours.” It was really rude. She was only crying because she was taken out of the chair and was well behaved when we arrived. It’s not family friendly. It’s not any kind of friendly. We went to cactus instead, just up the street, it was wonderful and would highly recommend.
