Yolanda's Mexican Cafe Simi Valley Reviews
This is literally the most fabulous place I love everything about it and it’s all family if I could give it a million stars I would and I’m actually a person who doesn’t write reviews but this is off the charts amazing!!! Thank You for being the BEST authentic Mexican food and drink
Delicious food, great price and nice environment. I will definitely come back soon.
My family normally has an excellent time at Palapa. But on Sunday we came in around 4pm. We knew we were pressed on time as they close at 5pm. Hostess let us know they closed at 4:30 pm and we only had 30 minutes. We chose to stay. Menu and website said it closed at 5pm. Hostess sat us down did not look too happy to have us stay, another lady walked right in after we did and did not say a word to her. Hummm...okay. Our food came and was excellent! My niece saw a cockroach walking behind me. I was asked to ignore that, well I had a difficult time eating. Okay long story short, we finished dinner at 4:56 pm. Luis check on the bug issue, and the hostess needed to have a little more customer service. Sorry our visits are normally excellent. Our apologies for walking in at 4pm.
I've enjoyed Burritos here on previous visits here... My most recent visit, Cashier/server Fatima shared with me that they indeed have and serve Tortas, even though Tortas are not on the menu (go figure...). So, of course, I ordered the Carne Asada Torta... It was so damn delicious (¡deliciosa!) ¡Gracias Fatima!
The food is always good here. The service is great. The staff tries really hard to take care of you. And make sure that you have a pleasant experience. It's always a pleasure. They treat you like family.
Wow how have we not been here sooner. Chile Colorado was stupid good ! Taquitos were fire. Their meat is so tender ! We will be back
I brought my husband here for his first time and he loved it! He’s hard to impress because he’s such a good cook but the Chile Verde was a hit! Service was great, it was a cozy spot in the back and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Good job Palapa family
Great happy hour! Drinks and food selections were a fantastic value. Very friendly staff. Delicious 3 enchiladas on the happy hour menu. Will be back! My husband said there isn't anything he has tried here that he doesn't like. He likes it all!
Best margaritas in Simi Valley. The food is pretty good too. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable. Hopefully they expand the bar next door soon. Palapas is much better than that Mexican place in front of it.
I'm new to the area and have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant, which I define as not serving bland, Americanized versions of Mexican dishes. The arroz con pollo at Palapa was delicious and just the right amount of spicy. Also, I prefer going to places like this that are family-owed instead of a chain restaurant. I will definitely go back.
Best place in Simi Valley where you can find great Mexican food, best in town Micheladas. The staff are very nice and attentive. Great for a quick bite and a well served beer. Large selection of spirits and beer. And the wings are really good. Overall a great experience.
Atmosphere is nice and quiet. I'm able to hear our conversation without having to shout. No matter who your server is they are friendly...... Juan is the BEST!! Our food was good. I love the beans and Carne asada. Yummmy
Fantastic authentic Mexican food with lots of old favorites and standards. The enchiladas are delicious, the salsa bar is a big plus, but the service makes it the best experience by far. Alan was a great waiter for us!
The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was great. Their ranchero sauce is so good. Their Christmas Punch was amazing. Thanks for being a good go to spot.
Last night we celebrated my husband's 40th here, and we enjoyed this place very much! The atmosphere and the customer service were amazing. The manager and the staff were very attentive and made sure that we had everything we needed. They made us feel very welcome and we would recommend this place for any occasion!
This food is the best mexican food I've ever had in my life. I've been coming here for like 9 years since I was younger and oh my gosh it is so good i used to live in Simi valley and moved and I haven't had it for like 2 years and I've been trying to find a New Mexican restaurant where I live now and coming back too this from all the other Mexican restaurants just makes me realize how much better this food is compared to the others like I dont know what they put in the food but it is one of a kind.
Authentic Mexican food with a great variety of dishes on the menu and huge portions. Outdoor and indoor seating that is comfortable in a festive atmosphere. The service is always polite and helpful and accommodating.
I recently visited Yolanda’s Mexican Café in Simi Valley and was really impressed. The restaurant sits in a strip mall, which actually makes parking super easy—there’s plenty of it, and getting in and out is convenient. The inside has a warm, welcoming vibe, and you can tell it’s a favorite among locals. They start you off with complimentary chips and salsa. The regular salsa is fresh and full of flavor, and they also bring out a warm, light-red bean-style salsa that really surprised me—in a good way. It’s unique and honestly one of the highlights. I ordered the chicken and beef fajitas, which were about $23.00. The portion was generous, and both the chicken and beef were tender, juicy, and nicely seasoned. The vegetables were fresh and cooked perfectly, and everything tasted like it came straight off the grill. Service was fast too, which made the whole experience even better. Some locals say it’s the best Mexican restaurant in town. I haven’t tried every spot in Simi Valley, so I won’t go that far, but I can definitely say it’s one of the better Mexican restaurants I’ve been to anywhere. If you’re in the area and craving good Mexican food with friendly service, easy parking, and great flavors, Yolanda’s is absolutely worth a visit.
Everything was delicious. Authentic Mexican food and the margaritas were great. Highly recommend.
First time and just our luck, we got HAPPY HOUR! Staff was attentive and food was hot and ready to dig in. I am pretty sure that I have tried many soups, yet their Albondiga soup was hot and very delicious. Talk about saving money, the margaritas were only $6. Good things always happen to me 😁 I do eat a lot, so I think it was worth every dollar.
Eating at Yolanda's was an excellent experience all around. The staff was friendly, the food was very good and we were seated immediately. We arrived right in the middle of the dinner rush and the staff was very professional and courteous. There is plenty of seating and the atmosphere was nice. There is a very large, free parking lot with plenty of spaces and the parking lot is shared with many other stores. We enjoyed the food very much and would definitely come here again.
Absolutely love Yolanda's. My husband and I come here a few times a month, sometimes we just order take out. Service is almost all great and I have never have experienced a bad dish. I could OD on their chips and salsa, I don't know what they put in that stuff but its amazing. Drinks are strong. :D
We went there on Friday to dine in and then order food for the kids to take home. The food and service was great for the dine in portion. For the to-go part there were issues. We ordered a menu item with a few substitutions, the big one being no cheese. I checked it before we left and there was cheese all over it. The waitress apologized and returned it to the kitchen. Unfortunately, all the kitchen staff did was place more beans on top of the cheese to hide it and turned the chicken that had cheese on it upside down to hide it. This was not noticed until we got home and the child refused to eat it. We have been trying to call the restaurant for three days and they never answer. The wasted meal was almost 20 dollars. So frustrating. Update: After 6 more calls over a couple days, I finally got to speak with someone. Luis was very helpful and will get it taken care of. I updated my star rating from 1 to 4.
Very good Mexican dishes, a broad range of offerings, excellent service, and very pleasant atmosphere - all at a reasonable price. One of the best dining solutions in Simi Valley
During lunch on a Friday, the food was good. They have lunch specials that includes a soft drink and either a burrito or a choice of 2: enchiladas, tacos, or chile rellinos. I ordered cheese enchiladas which seemed very basic in terms of flavor - the sauce was very bland. The beans were good quality and rice was good but a little over cooked. I would try this place again during dinner if I was in the area again but would not drive specifically to come here.
Food is excellent. I rarely give more than 3 stars unless it is exceptional. We asked for extra tortillas but never got them (they were not busy). One minor thing that bugged me was they charge for club soda when they feel like it (I wish they were consistent). The other minor thing was the $1.25 credit convenience charge. I do not recall it last year. Only deal was that I paid with debit card. Called them and girl there said it applies to debit cards too. Just wished they would say so before scanning my card. Simple courtesy.
We wanted fajitas. And we got tiny little pieces of steak and chicken. The shrimp was a little over cooked. The rice and beans were the best part
When we dine in the Servers are Always Great. But Dine in or Take Out the Food is Always Hit n Miss! I’ve ordered Nacho’s and they try n hide their stale chips underneath all the toppings thinking we won’t be able to tell . Dining in I sent them back n once they put fresh chips it tasted fine. But I ordered them take out afterwards and Again, Stale chips beneath the toppings. Maybe that’s their way to try n save money . But it will only lead to losing customers.
Just got a shrimp cocktail was charged $17 for it the taste is there however the pieces of octopus are way to big they should consider cutting it in to bite size portions.
Saturday night was dead maybe 10 people in the restaurant. 3 ladies working and one is Fatima. They were more worried about have a shot with two men at the bar then even asking us is all ok or can we ? Our margaritas glasses say empty and nt even 1of the 3ladies asked if we wanted another and did I say it was very slow ??? Worst place to dine at anymore !!
This place is closed due to not passing health inspection Just saw the sign
Horrible experience!!!!! Went here with my wife to try out a new restaurant. The bar had about 5 people and the dining room had about 2 tables occupied we were the third. We sat for about 15 to 20 minutes. No service at all, no greeting, no chips and salsa, no drink order, no food order. Absolutely nothing. Then a family of 6 arrives and they get helped immediately with drinks and orders immediately. My wife and I left. Please dont waste your time with this place the staff is unorganized and the prices were overpriced. $0.95 for sour cream and $1.50 for guacamole to add to a $10.00 burrito. I can't comment on the food and how it taste in my opinion probably bad like their service.
Customer service really sucks. They only take care of people they know families and friends. Food was warm but literally we waited for our drink for like 15 minutes I had to raise my hand and called one of the servers and ask her. Where is my drink? They only take care of the people they know.
This place has continuously trended down hill. Great atmosphere is the best thing I can say. We always order shrimp villa. Was the best thing on the menu. Lacks the great smoky taste it used to have. Size of the shrimp has deminished and are overcooked. Albondigas soup used to be included, now have to pay alacart. And they ruined it. Used to be a clear broth with great crisp veggies and firm tasty meatballs. They have now turned it into a mushy thick unappatizing stew. Service at the take out counter took a turn when the waitress mistook my shrimp villa for chicken villa. She had to discuss with the manager for five minutes before correcting her mistake. And finally, very expensive. I'm done with Yolandas.
