What a lovely restaurant, we stayed for breakfast after the wedding, very elegant interior and beautiful food thank you
Went for a Friday evening meal here recently. Fabulous venue both inside and out. Really pretty buildings and grounds. Decor is very calming and tables are nicely spaced out. Staff are attentive, professional, friendly and well trained. Food is really delicious. Superbly presented and the ingredients are fresh and flavoursome also in keeping with the season. We started with some homemade breads. Followed by starters of queen scallops and monkfish. Both delicious, fresh and just the right portion size. We then received a complimentary gin and lemon sorbet to cleanse and prep us for main course. I went for Roasted Cod with butter beans and my husband went for beef we got some vegetables on the side. Fish was beautifully cooked. Soft and still really moist but not transparent. Paired really well with the butter beans. (Chef kindly accommodated no butter for me) Beef was absolutely delicious. Again cooked to perfection. We finished with the cheese board ample to share. Definitely worth making a visit and enjoy some really fine dining. Only down side was the restaurant wasn’t overly busy so atmosphere was tempered and the night ended early enough.
Had our first fine dining experience of the year at Brabazon Restaurant with my wife and it was truly out of this world. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt more like visiting a close friend who happens to be a world-class chef. Relaxed, welcoming, and full of care. Every dish was exceptional a huge shoutout to the amazing team and main chef Janos Sarkozi. As busy parents, it’s rare we get a night like this. Life moves fast, kids keep us on our toes, and sometimes you just have to say “we deserve this.” And we truly did. On a personal note, we were also celebrating a big milestone I’m incredibly grateful for attention to detail for that.
Amazing lunch once again. First time trying Tasting Menu. Food was excellent. Our waiters were perfect mix of professionalism with a bit of banter. The best food experience in the area. Already looking forward to our next visit.
Went for the gourmet tasting menu, was everything I hoped for, exciting products and flavours that you wouldn't typically get. Everything tasted amazing and served with full descriptions of each course by the maitre d. Loved it ⭐ It was a quiet night in the restaurant as the European final was on, suited me just fine though.
Can't fault this tastefully revamped restaurant in the heart of Meath, with impeccably crafted dishes, stunning winelist and a truly welcoming staff. We dined late on a Friday afternoon, with three of our party having been unavoidably held up, causing the kitchen to have to stay open late - but the staff were most accommodating and we never once felt rushed. The Sommelier, from the heartland of the French terroirs, was extremely knowledgeable, and the Chef - oh, the Chef 👌🏼 A few of the dishes we enjoyed:
Stunning food. We went with the wine tasting 10 course tasting menu. Everthing top notch. You have to experience it. Small portions of amazing food presented in a way thar shows the passion the chefs have for food. The head chef served our last course ,which was I nice touch. If you love food ,you will find this place your heaven
We've been coming here years. Before covid the food had become standard but there have been changes and they have introduced tasting menus in the evening and beautiful sunday lunches and the food is now really good. The menus are good value for what you get (this is fine fining) and the wines and food are delicious. The staff have been constantly professional and friendly. Being part of the tankardstown estate and the beautiful gardens and buildings adds a real feeling of class to the visit. I highly recommend it.
Wonderful experience and perfect for a special occasion. The tasting menu was fab and the wine pairing perfection! Beautiful room and great service. Definitely worth a visit.
Tasting menu lives up to comments here. Food is delicious and presented so well. The service is excellent. First time here definitely won’t be the last.
My wife and I had the extreme pleasure to experience true hospitality service provided by Derek at Brabazon Restaurant, Tankardstowm Rathkenny, Tankardstown, Slane, Ireland. From the moment we sat at the Brabazon Restaurant bar, thru dinner, to the time he drove us to our lodgings in his personal car, Derek was the cherry on top of a perfect evening. The food, drink, atmosphere, and the staff at Brabazon are top notch. I am at a loss of words to describe the extent of how wonderful this multi-layered event has affected our lives. We are richer, blessed, overwhelmed and I wish to thank Derek for being the great person who he is.
Beautiful food fabulous presentation and polite knowledgeable staff. Would highly recommend it.
Delicious lunch, great service and excellent value. The tasting menu was superb.
Delicious, warm, cosy, and excellent service. The chef has been there for years, previously as a sous chef and now heading it. He proudly uses locally sourced ingredients; some even grown in the grounds of the attached hotel. It's not cheap and it's a bit out of the way, but it's a gem nonetheless.
Really enjoyed the visit to Brabazon. Delicious quality food. Excellent service, obviously well trained staff. Looking forward to returning. 5 star!
Beautiful restaurant food absolutely gorgeous and the staff were excellent couldn't do enough for you ❤️
I went there after one of my friend tells me about the place, the food is so delicious, staff is awesome...the chefs are top quality professionals. Guys, you must tried🤩🤩
Great food, beautiful setting and friendly staff. I'm never disappointed when I visit and will keep coming back.
Amazing expierence with tasting food. Chef was amazing and staff unreall.
Amazing meal and extremely accommodating to vegan diner. Beautifully presented food, attentive staff, lovely wine - a really good evening.
Exceptional service ... Exceptional food, had a really enjoyable nite
Well worth the drive out. Food excellent, delightful staff. Just go there! You won't regret it.
Celebrated our wedding in Tankardstown and had breakfast on two occasions in the Brabazon Restaurant. The breakfast menu was outstanding. The Eggs Benedicts were delicious and would highly recommend. The ladies working their were also such a pleasure, so kind and nothing was too much to ask for. Will absolutely return to try their dinner menu.
We had an incredible experience at the Brabazon Restaurant. Upon arrival, our coats were taken, and a beautiful log fire was lit to create the perfect atmosphere. The food was exceptional and definitely worth every penny. The service was the best we've experienced so far. Our family visited over Christmas, and there was a very talented young woman playing the most beautiful songs on the grand piano, which really set the festive mood. It was the best restaurant experience I've ever had, and there was nothing to complain about. We're definitely planning to return for another visit.
Myself and my husband have just come home from Tankardstown house. We had the tasting menu €50 each. It was absolutely delicious every single morsel was mouthwatering delicious. Sinéad looked after us so well and so professionally. Thank you Sinéad. We'll be back. We were there for lunch. Regards Olive and David.
Food was fantastic places was very fresh and vibrant. Staff were friendly..
Absolutely fantastic experience, The chef's experience was really intimate and the food was far beyond our expectations. The service was outstanding and again there isn't enough stars to warrant our review.Definately the best fine dining experience we have ever had. Thanks so much to all the staff especially Johnny Sarkosy (head chef ) whose food was so gorgeous but also a piece of art. Best experience ever.
Our family dined at Barbazon restaurant during the New Year, and it exceeded all of our expectations. The food was exceptionally exquisite, providing remarkable quality at a reasonable price. The service was outstanding, with attentive staff who struck the perfect balance. What truly made our visit unforgettable was the exceptional performance by the young lady playing the piano, which enhanced the restaurant's classical ambiance with her beautiful music. A visit to Barbazon is unquestionably worthwhile, and I highly recommend the experience. Our family will certainly be returning very soon!
We took the 7 course tasting menu with wines. One of our party was vegetarian and we had advised them in advance when booking. With one exception, the tortellini, the food was exquisite, the wines were perfect and we were all very satisfied at the end of the evening. I would strongly recommend
Excellent food and service we were welcomed from the moment we arrived and the staff were very friendly. The food was beautifully presented and very tasty and I think for the service and surroundings the price for a 3 course meal was very reasonable. We will be back for sure 👌🏻
Outstanding, cannot praise this absolute gem of a restaurant enough. The farm to plate tasting menu (12 course) and wine pairing accompaniment is incredible. What unbelievable talent they have in their kitchen! Try it immediately.
Fantastic food and service loved every second of it, staff was so polite and catered to everyone in our party. The piano player was especially good!!! Would come again
Michelin star quality food, in a wonderful location. Offers 7&10 course taster menus with wine pairings for a very good price. Seasonal and locally sourced produce is at the heart of their menus
Was there in early December 2021 before everything locked down again. We had the tasting menu which was quite varied (of course) but excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient. Highly recommended !
Had the 10 course tasting menu. One of the best and most enjoyable meals I've ever had. I will definitely be returning soon.
This restaurant is in the grounds of Tankardstown House, so shares the same staff and facilities as the hotel. As you would expect, the restaurant is large, bright and airy, with ample seating for couples or larger groups. The service was prompt, polite and professional. The menu selection was good and the quality of the food was excellent. This restaurant is off the beaten track, but well worth seeking out if you are anywhere in the area. Reservations would be advisable, as it's a popular spot.
Lovely Sunday evening dinner here , pricey but fabulous , highly recommend
Could not recommend the restaurant and the staff anymore! As a celiac, it is very hard to find such high quality options in some places but upon arriving in Brabazon, Sinead presented a full afternoon tea stand with the most gorgeous sandwiches that were made on homemade fresh brown bread by Breda. Thanks again Sinead for providing so much detail about all the food offerings!
Wonderful staff with vegan Irish breakfast option. Fresh squeezed orange juice. Can say enough about the staff and the grounds.
We had the 10 course tasting menu, every course was great. Superb staff and atmosphere!
It's been a while since we visited the beautiful Brabazon Restaurant. It certainly won't be as long next time. We had the taster menu with wine pairings, and all I can say is wow! We sat at the Chefs table and we're super impressed by the attention to detail given to every aspect of the meal. The Quail was beautiful, the Tortellini sublime. Full marks for the service also. A wonderful evening all round❤️
We enjoyed lunch at the restaurant and throughly enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. The menu offered plenty of choice and the quality of food and its presentation is to be commended. The service was friendly and efficient and we also really appreciated the time between courses, we weren’t rushed. A really lovely experience and looking forward to returning.
Food incredible, staff amazing, altough beatifully decorated it lacked atmosphere the evening we were there... we still really enjoyed our evening and I will return in hope it wont be so quiet
A fine dining restaurant on the grounds of Tankardstown Hse. I suppose I'm a 'local' so to speak, only taking ten minutes to get here from where I grew up. Although I don't live in Louth now. Knowledge of the back roads is useful! We found everything here very acceptable, staff were attentive but not too fussy, which is great. A fairly comprehensive wine list is available with all the regulars and one or two less well knowns. A tasting menu is available which appears to be be good value, as these offerings go. €60 extra for the wine pairing. We settled for the al a carte and without getting into the details were happy - seasonable and good quality produce. My only slight mark down was the plates and/or food could have been slightly hotter. But I quickly add this didn't take away from the the experience. I don't consider myself an expert on fine dining but I find this is a trend in a lot of upper end restaurants, excellent food, excellent presentation, excellent service and cold food. May just be a bug bear of mine. The only other observation was the restaurant was not as busy as I thought it may be, perhaps half full for a Saturday night. We enjoyed our evening and will certainly be back.
Lovely aesthetic and great service. Unfortunately lacks vegetarian and vegan options so I wouldn’t dine again, but the meat eaters had a great meal.
I'm giving 3 STARS ONLY. Food was enjoyable to some extent, however there are a few things worth to mentioned. Pork belly top skin was totally burned clearly overcooked not pleasant to eat, the rest of it was great. Pasta was great not al dente though, carbonara lacked of salt and mashed potatoes and vegetables lacked of salt. Someone in the kitchen took cooking lessons in the UK:) Also a sirloin was suppose to be medium got it overcooked to almost well done. Another thing that influenced the score is service. Waiting time for order to be taken approx 20 min, a bit too long. The place aspires to be a great place for food, it is not yet. Deserts were great a carrot cake and a apple and rhubarb tart. A few areas for improvement at the moment. Will come back in hope of improvements and a revise the review in the future.
Now only doing 2 tasting menus, suppose it's cost effective for kitchen otherwise not sure why. Food was beautifully plated, service good but food not as good as previous visits - some courses a little tasteless and meringue was stale, although seabass and lamb were good. Piped music of woman murdering songs wafting over your heads. Pity.
The internet is gushing with good reports from here so was really surprised when I finally made it for Sunday lunch. We had to ask twice for my daughter's chicken goujons even though they promised upon ordering and again when we made our second query that they would be brought as soon as they were cooked. When they finally arrived, after our starters, they were unseasoned, overcooked, and their much too thick coating had taken on the consistency of dry flour, she wouldn't eat them. On to the adults. 3 of our party had leek and potato soup, it was looked nice, but was reported bland and not very nice. I had beef brisket, small portion but ok. We all 4 had Salmon for main course. The other options were beef sirloin, chicken or a misspelt "Saffran Risotto" The fish was cooked well, again the portions were on the small side. It was served with a small sweet potato cake and 4 of the smallest spears of asparagus I think I've ever seen. No other potato was offered, the veg was a small bowl of plain cauliflower and carrots between two people. Not very inspiring or tasty. But the main course was the reason for giving two stars instead of one. Desserts were small, very small, my daughter's brownie was a tiny triangle with a tiny scoop of ice cream served in a tiny bowl. I had the chocolate roulade, like a slice of Swiss roll with 2 teaspoons worth of cherry ice cream. The lemon tart was a half a slice of a tart and the millefeuille was a small pastry case with a bland filling. Service was disjointed. The lady who took the order was a little curt when there was no need to be, which would have been easily forgiven if she had made sure my daughter got her goujons when she should have. It's not cheap, the overcooked goujons and tiny brownie were €17, total bill with just two soft drinks, a sparkling bottle of water and 4 coffees came to €240. I would expect much better for this price range. Maybe my daughter's disappointment has made me overly critical but I wanted to leave an honest review.
Very disappointed and upset by the service and standard of food at our afternoon tea today. It was my birthday and my mam thought it would be a lovely treat to go as we had been before and loved it. We were not greeted when we entered my mam had to approach someone, when our tea was brought it was just put on the table and a bit even spilled out it was put down with such force. We felt like the staff didn’t want to be there being totally honest and almost felt like we were a hinderance to them by asking for anything. one of the servers wouldn’t even make eye contact with us when he dropped down our food. The food was okay, the sandwiches were stale almost and was very small. My Mam isn’t one to complain which is why nothing was said when we were there but it honestly ruined my day as she was so upset about it on the way home. We are extremely disappointed and will not be returning anytime soon.
We went to the Brabazon restaurant for Afternoon Tea last week to celebrate our wedding anniversary [We were married in Tankardstown House 14 years ago], and were disappointed with what we received. Upon arrival we were offered a glass of Prosecco or Champagne, but were told this was an extra that we'd have to pay for. The Afternoon Tea offering was mostly small cakes such as red velvet, mini mince pies, apple tart, Christmas pudding and a type of fruit cake. There was also a small glass of trifle and cheese and plain scones, which came with relish for the cheese scone and a small dish of cream and jam. All of the above, other than the trifle, was dry and needed something else other than the small dish of cream for the scones. For the savoury offering there was a thin slice of brown bread with a sliver of smoked salmon and cream cheese, half a small croissant with brie and a bao bun with a filling of either shredded pork or chicken, we weren't told which. It being the Christmas season, it would have been lovely to see some Turkey and Ham sandwiches instead of the bao buns and croissants. We felt there were too many sweet cake like items and everything was too dry and at €70 was overpriced.
