Emberz Sonora Reviews
Hubby and I came by after work on a Monday evening and apparently this was the place to be! A fun and lively atmosphere with funky decor. Our service was FANTASTIC. Our server (Katie, I believe) gave the BEST recommendations and despite being busy made me a French press coffee. I was thrilled with her Chicken Sandwich recommendation. Thank you! We will be back again.
the food was SO good. Pizza and burgers are insane. Service was awesome too. Definitely coming back here!
I took my family here to celebrate my first day back to school. I was sick of a common franchise down the road my kids are obsessed with. I got a reuben which was great and my kids enjoyed their choices as well. But the two standouts was this crazy huge ($100!) steak my husband got and everyone in the family enjoyed...as well as the service. The servers were nice to us, but also I liked their interactions with each other. It can get catty in some random privately owned spots around here (and the neighboring Calaveras county), so it was refreshing seeing normal people treat each other with respect. Just pleasant people doing their job and being pleasant to each other and us. The cooks? Never saw them, but they get a 10/10 from 4/4 of us. Will definitely be back. Thanks for giving us a memorable night when we took a chance! (My kids I think were won over immediately by the cups they could take home...I recall enjoying that too as a kid, very nice touch!)
Came here for dinner with my family. The hostess showed us to our table. We didnt have to wait. Our server was very friendly. They didnt have a printed kids menu but he helped my kids choose their food. We got ourselves some food and drinks as well. Everything came out fairly quickly. 1. The fancy fondue was very yummy. It came with toasted sourdough bread. 2. Garlic bread was also good. We dipped that into the fondue once we were done with the sourdough. It enhanced the taste further. 3. Kids loved the pepperoni pizza and fish & chips. 4. Our server also accommodated our request for a half and half garlic chicken pizza with no meat on one side. The pizza came out great. We didnt even leave the edges 😃 5. For drinks we got the old fashioned and birthday cake which were both great. Will definitely be back here if in the area.
Stopped in with my wife after a hike. I have been wanting to eat here for awhile now, but it hasn't worked out. Finally I tried Emberz, and it topped my expectations! The ambience is simple yet inviting. The food was incredible. The drink menu was huge. They have a lot of unique selections. Our server was really good and made us feel well taken care of. The bill comes in a book that people have written in. I loved the idea! It was fun reading what others had written. I wrote in it as well! I've always heard Emberz was pricey, but compared to the other higher end restaurants in the area they were very comparable. We had a great experience and will be back! Enjoy!
We've been here for lunch and dinner. The food is great! The cocktails are delicious, though you may have to wait a while once you order. The servers are pleasant and good at their job. There's clearly a strong community here and it felt good to support a local spot.
Ever in the mood for a meal thats a bit adventurous? Chances are Emberz has some something for you. I had the “Fallen Apple” pizza. A pizza with, you guessed it, apple slices. Served with a blend of Gorgonzola and blue cheese and a drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette reduction all baked together in the wood fire pizza oven. It’s a bold taste that I think really paid off. I ordered the wings which were cooked to perfection, however when you take chances they don’t always pay off. I ordered buffalo, but I didn’t recognize any buffalo flavor. Instead of ranch I got a cucumber and buttermilk sauce that tasted more like taziki sauce. However, I asked for 2 different sauces, one that the wings were cooked in and the other a siracha ranch, both which were delicious. My wife had the calamari which she really enjoyed and the other couple we came with ordered clam chowder and fish and chips. The “chips” were small cut and a bit soggy, however the fish was fried perfectly, not greasy but very buttery. Service was great and prices were very reasonable. If your in the area, and hungry for something different, roll the dice at emberz and chances are you’ll find something unique that you’ll love.
I had never been in Emberz before but went last night for a date night. The staff were so cool and friendly! The atmosphere is more relaxed and enjoyable than I expected given that it has two bars inside. I went for the dining area and did not experience the bar sections. The food was outstanding! I got the tomahawk steak and although it was a little more pricey than I anticipated I don't feel as if my money went to waste and I don't regret buying the most expensive thing on the menu! It was the best meat I have ever ate in my life. My date also got the tomahawk steak as well and feels the same way that it was mouthwatering and the best meal we've ever had.
Being a Sonora native, I’ve seen plenty of establishments come and go—but Emberz has truly weathered the storm. Always packed, always solid. We came here twice during our visit—yes, it’s that good. You know you’re going to get the same quality no matter what day it is or who’s working. Service can be a bit slow, but that’s simply because it’s a large space and it’s always busy. Drinks from the bar? Good. Desserts? Good. Pizza? Solid. But the CHICKEN WINGS—I’ll be thinking about those bad boys for the rest of my life. The size of these things must have come from giant dinosaur chickens. Honestly, almost worth the six-hour drive just to get them again. From here on out, I will always order them. I also sat next to a table that ordered some kind of monster sandwich, and while I didn’t have it this time, I WILL be getting it on my next visit. We finished with the brownie for dessert, and it was good. 10/10 for this local legend.
We were visiting from out of town and Emberz was recommended to us. So glad we stopped in for lunch. Cool place with great food and staff. Appetizer was bacon wrapped shrimp. Entrees were Lobster Truffle Mac n cheese and Saltimbocca. Drinks were a beer and Huckleberry lemonade. Can't wait until our next visit to go back.
It was delicious, huge portions for adequate money, the meat in the burger was fresh, juicy and well fried! Salads are big with fresh vegetables . Nice enough place in American style ! You can see that it is an old place, but that's what makes it atmospheric! It is worth visiting if you want to eat a lot of delicious food.
So far so good. Started the evening off with Huckleberry lemonade. Pretty awesome. It’s 44 N. vodka from Idaho. And that’s where I’m from. Then we ended up with cheese fondue to start the evening. Each of us ordered our own entree! Fish and chips, Reuben, shrimp scampi and portobello sandwich. Delish!
This is a delightful little restaurant located in the heart of Sonora. I kid you not, there is not one bad item on the entire menu. Our party of 9 had probably 20 different items that we ordered, and there were no complaints whatsoever, instead everyone just raved about what was in front of them. The staff is super friendly, very efficient and knowledgeable as well. Check out some of the pictures.
Food was absolutely amazing. I had the burger. My best friend had the tomahawk steak. Everything was delicious. I would highly recommend coming here for a great meal. Our server was really Great! Lily was her name. Definitely a place to go if you're in town. What a great and friendly environment 😁
What great food!! Had an amazing lunch. Try their shareable drink it’s bottomless and refreshing. 😃 The steak was cooked to perfection and the garlic shrimp was my favourite. The service was excellent and made us feel taken care of. We went immediately after the rodeo parade so the place was packed to capacity but service impeccable. I’m going again and soon!!
We had heard great things about Emberz and were strolling downtown Sonora so we stopped in to share a pizza and it was happy hour! We had to wait less than 5 minutes to be seated, there were lots of people coming and going. All the staff we interacted with were very kind and helpful but it seemed they needed some more hands as they were very busy. We shared the island pizza and an Irish coffee. The island pizza was so delicious and the Irish coffee was extremely hot and very big, perfect for the cold rainy weather. We would absolutely come back anytime!
Staff friendly and felt welcomed once entering.. Ordered the lobster truffle Mac and cheese. Was expecting more of a cheesy MAC. Ended being more liquid like a soup than cheesy. I prefer cheesy. Did like the bread and asparagus on the side. First time coming here, may be trying the burgers next time
Ridiculous. My boyfriend and I came in for a date night, I'd been to this place a few years ago and had a good experience. We came in and were sat by a lovely host, didn't get his name but he was nice! However, our food and server were terrible. We ordered an appetizer, an entree with a side salad, and worst of all a tomahawk steak. It took about 20 mins for us to get our appetizer, the burnt emberz, and it was coagulated and kinda gross, but not terrible. Another 20ish mins went by and we finally got our food. Our waitress, Michayla, was talking to her friends who came in the whole time. They were all yelling as they were talking, so loud my boyfriend and I couldn't hear eachother.. mind you the entire restaurant was empty aside from one other table. She was complaining to them about her job super loudly and was drinking something at the bar, it looked like a soda, but still worth noting. When we ordered or spoke to her at all she wasn't responsive, she would usually just leave when we asked her for something. Which, granted, we would get it, but servers are typically expected to say "I'll be right back with that" or "Alright" etc. She only checked up on our drinks once. Now, the tomahawk, it wasn't the best steak. It wasn't terrible, but definitely not worth the price. To be fair, the menu just says "market price", but a tomahawk that size is around $80. When our check came... it was $120!!!! We're young, a typical server would let you know before ordering a $120 steak when you're in your early 20s. It felt slightly predatory of her as the more we spend the bigger the tip. We would have tipped well had she been polite. I ordered a mac and cheese and a salad, I'm a vegetarian. When the mac and cheese came there were a few small pieces of bacon. It wasn't the biggest deal for me so I just picked them out, but if I were part of a religion that doesn't eat pork or even allergic it would have been bad. No wonder the restaurant was completely empty. Never coming back.
