Trattoria Luigin Sori Reviews
We booked a table for Sunday lunch and they were very kind, we even brought our 1-year-old golden retriever. So our four-legged friends are welcome 👌 We ate divinely. It's been a long time since we've experienced true home cooking like in the old days... fresh handmade pasta, all the sauces, pesto, and dressings, made exclusively by them, and the desserts... you really have to try everything! You won't regret it. And I noticed (even though I hardly drink) that the red wine didn't linger in my stomach at all; I usually don't digest it easily. In short, give it a try, it's really worth it 😊
Fantastic chance to catch local culture food and hospitality. Reasonable price
One of the best trattorias in the hills behind Sori. Excellent food, from cheese focaccia to trofie and pesto lasagna. The pansotti with walnut sauce are excellent. The Ligurian-style rabbit is excellent. When available, don't miss the veal with tuna sauce. The hand-fried potatoes are sublime. One of the few trattorias that still offers "fritto misto alla Genovese" on the menu. When in season, the fried mushrooms are a must. The owner's friendliness is definitely a major plus.
Excellent food! The focaccia is a journey of flavor. We had them filled with stracchino and Zola cheese, topped with prosciutto. Magnificent! Homemade walnut pansotti and Ligurian-style fried fish. Friendly service and excellent house wine. Recommended! Also, book in advance. Always busy!
I returned after a very long time, at least 6 years, for dinner here. I must say the waiter was very kind. We hadn't booked, but he still welcomed us with open arms (which is often unusual). We ate really well, and my favorite thing was the pesto. The fritto misto deserves an extra point because it wasn't greasy at all. When we went to pay, they offered us some bitters, which we really enjoyed.
True ligurian trattoria with a family story behind it. Lovely owner - sweet heart. Traditional menu with many highlights like the ligurian style rabbit or chickpea fries. Worth visiting and driving uphills from main ligurian small cities on the coast. If you want to feel the magic of the region - go for it. ♥️
My wife, I, and some friends dined at this trattoria serving traditional Ligurian cuisine in the hamlet of Sussisa, above Sori, at a table on the covered outdoor terrace. We enjoyed various focaccias with stracchino and other cheeses as appetizers, followed by pansoti with walnut sauce for starters, meat ravioli, and trofie with pesto. For main courses, we had Genoese-style fritto misto, and for dessert, lemon sorbets. Everyone was satisfied with the delicious, plentiful, delicious, and excellent dishes. The staff were very kind, welcoming, and friendly, with very fast service and truly reasonable prices.
The best pansotti ever!
A fantastic surprise! We ventured to Sussisa to sample this trattoria's famous dishes. There were eight of us, and they seated us at two tables of four, separated by a Green Pass, after checking everyone's validity. We started with a mix of focaccias (classic, stracchino, pumpkin, and lard, gorgonzola, mascarpone, and walnuts). We continued with a tasting of four first courses: batolli with pesto, pumpkin ravioli with butter and sage, borage ravioli with sausage and mushrooms, and the ever-present pansoti. Everything was delicious! I really enjoyed the ravioli with sausage and mushrooms (truly unparalleled) and the pesto. We continued with classic Italian fritto misto and, of course, the desserts! The pear and chocolate or apple and cinnamon cakes were excellent! The owner, a truly kind and professional person, even added a taste of Mont Blanc! We finished with coffee and amari. The wine cellar is small, but suitable for a simple trattoria. We spent €35 each, eating from appetizer to dessert and a bottle of wine for every four of us. Highly recommended!
Located on the hills above Genoa, inland from Sori, in a quiet and relaxing setting, this restaurant serves truly excellent traditional Genoese cuisine. The staff is very welcoming and kind, and the place is clean and quaint. Dogs are also welcome. I tried the focaccia with cheese and excellent Genoese pesto, excellent frisceau, and excellent panissa with lard. Pansoti with walnut sauce and pesto lasagna, also known as mandilli, were all very good. To finish, I highly recommend the pistachio tiramisu. I'll definitely be back because I had a wonderful time.
Good place for local specialties. Reserve your table! Very proficient and nice staff, good food quality. Also the bill was ok.
A two-story trattoria with an outdoor terrace. The dishes are delicious, especially the gourmet focaccias, which are tasty and light, and the portions are generous. However, as the menu suggests, the wait is quite long. I've been back and can say that there are also off-menu dishes, such as fried mushrooms and mushroom-style mushrooms. The food is good, but while the fried food is very dry, some dishes, like the pesto lasagna and mushroom-style mushrooms, are a bit too oily for my taste. It should be noted, however, that the restaurant is very popular; it was very crowded.
We had lunch at this trattoria, which we drove to from Sori. The road is beautiful, a bit winding, and narrow in places. There's a nice parking lot in front of the restaurant. You can find more parking near the church and along the road. The entrance is decorated with wisteria and flowers. It has a beautiful dining room and a veranda. La Rosa is well-known and recommended for the quality and authenticity of its carefully prepared Ligurian dishes. They offer a good selection of dishes at fair prices (the pesto with green beans is excellent). I loved everything! 😋
We had a great time! The staff was very kind and warm and the dishes were plentiful and really tasty. I absolutely recommend getting a dish with their pesto because it is exceptional. The only thing that didn't convince us was the octopus with pesto because it tasted a bit too much like peppers, but despite this it is really worth stopping at this restaurant! For two with an appetizer, a first course, a second course, a dessert, water and a quarter of wine we spent 50 euros
On the hills above Sori, this trattoria is nice, but in my opinion the prices are a bit high and the dishes aren't exactly excellent... for a Genoese-style fritto misto, consisting of a few pieces of vegetables, fruit, a single piece of meat, and two pieces of cheese, €14 is a bit too much. The typical focaccias are very good. The place is rustic and certainly welcoming, but the slightly stale smell inside isn't the best.
A negative experience from the very beginning of the reservation. I called to reserve a table for 24 people on a Saturday evening. During the call, the owner assumed it might be a birthday party, and based on this assumption, he proposed a solution that I found completely unbalanced. Specifically, I was offered a fixed menu for €40 per person, including an appetizer, first course, and second course (dessert would have been a cake I brought myself). Honestly, I find this price completely out of proportion and disproportionate to what was offered. Not only was there no dessert, but there were no alternatives or flexibility. I had the distinct impression that the price was more a way to discourage group bookings than to accommodate the customer. For those looking for a venue for a large group or a special occasion, these prices are crazy and completely unjustified. A disappointing experience from the very first contact.
We returned on August 13th after my mother-in-law had been going there for 40 years, where she was recognized and greeted with hugs and kisses by the owner. The place was packed, understandably, with two young girls doing backflips to please everyone; we ordered pansoti, which arrived in 5 minutes, and 3 mandilli with pesto. After waiting 25 minutes for the mandilli, my daughter goes to ask if everything is okay and how long we still have to wait. After two minutes, the cook comes into the dining room and says, "It's 70 degrees in the kitchen, I'm making the pasta on the spot and there's a wait, and if you want pre-cooked food, you'll have to go elsewhere." I feel sorry for her: she should just be thankful that my 93-year-old mother-in-law was there, otherwise I would have left immediately. See you never again, and good luck!!
