Bistro Saffron Ste 101 Reviews
My wife and I visited Saffron for the first time over the weekend as part of celebrating our anniversary. I had reached out to them via Facebook to ask about menu items and reservations, as someone on a vegan diet this is something I do often, and the manager that I spoke with was by far one of the most helpful people I've encountered via a random Facebook message conversation. I can't say enough great things about our experience. They reserved a table in the corner for us with plenty of space and a great view of the sunset over the trees (and even a few deer out and about) and they even put out a nice card wishing us a happy anniversary. I think almost every front of the house team member was kind enough to stop and also wish a happy anniversary, including the manager. Our waiter was extremely polite and professional, and knowledgeable of the menu and made great recommendations. He was also very helpful in providing us suggestions regarding local events over the weekend as well as after dinner options for us to enjoy a drink in a comfortable environment. Our food was all very fresh and delicious, and we were even provided with a wonderful complimentary dessert. I don't believe I've ever had a dining experience on par with how great Bistro Saffron was this weekend. My wife and I will definitely be visiting each time we're in Cape Girardeau from now on.
Updated review. They no longer have the coconut cod and the Panang sauce. But I once again had the curry chicken and my wife had the Massaman curry. Delicious. And sushi too. Wonderful everything! Coconut cod was so good by itself that I didn't even want to dip it in the panang sauce. Then I realized how good the panang was that I practically drank it. The yellow chicken curry was amazing. One of the best I've had. The raspberry crepe is very good also.
One of the best Thai food places in Cape. Very upscaled environment and professional staff. Food quantity is more than enough for a person and is totally worth the price for the food and environment. Must Try!
Really nice and cozy place. Food is delicious. Staff was very friendly. Great service. Definitely we will go back.
Impeccable service, nice place Very clean, modern, and QUIET Really love to be here. The food itself doesn't seem like authentic thai, since they have sushi as well The portion here is quite generous. I was alone and ordered 2 appetizers and 2 main dishes, I had to struggle to finish all of them. The satay taste really good, the chicken is very tender and matches really well with the peanut sauce The special curry (I got Penang curry as their house special that day) was so good, too bad it was little bit too spicy for me Their pad woo sen is EXTREMELY DELICIOUS, no drama. Price wise was alright. A lot of parking space . Recommended if you like nice place to chat with, and great service with it But steer away if you are looking for real authentic thai dish. It is not bad, really, I enjoy to eat here. But unfortunately it is not marketed to Thai or Asian who enjoy authentic thai foods.
Food was pretty good. Service was great
Not just my server but everyone's server was talkative, attentive, and friendly with their tables and knowledgeable about the food. . I got great suggestions and the food did not disappoint!
We have been coming here for years. Have never left unimpressed with the quality of the meals we've had. Their Safron soup is a personal favorite and is a must have. Sushi is superb. Main course entrees are creative and true to Pan Asian cuisine. This is truly a must restaurant for anyone looking for a great meal at a reasonable price.
Always an excellent dining experience. The quality of their food is the best. I ordered a sausage that was a bit spicy but perfect for my keto diet along with a fish of mixed steam vegetables. The staff is friendly and their service is great.
My wife and I drove by this place and knew we had to try it. Food is great, fantastic service and just an all around fun place. It's on our weekly visit list. Try it, you'll love it.
We absolutely LOVE Saffron. The restaurant is clean, the food is fresh and amazing and for the most part healthy and the staff is phenomenal. Love the whole package!!! It is also convenient to pick up and take home. You don't even have to get out of the car and you have an amazing meal to feed the family.
I came here as a suggestion from friends, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sushi here. Sure, they may have much fewer variety than a dedicated sushi place, but the Tuna was fantastic! I am looking forward to going again soon.
I think that was the best quality of food I've ever had. The food they serve looks and probably tastes like the masterpieces I see on cooking shows. I tried sushi for the 1st time there and I can't begin to describe all the flavors, all I can say is that it was amazing. All the food I tried there was amazing.
My dad and I visited the restaurant yesterday for a shared birthday dinner for his birthday and mine. The waitress brought out a fried banana and a little candle on the house for the celebration. I cannot say how happy both of us were and I definitely will remember this forever. Thank you to the Saffron staff for being so kind and thoughtful ❤
My wife and I had a great time at this restaurant. They accommodated for us being vegetarian and the food was great.
Great place in Cape Girardeau! Small business that really serves the community. The food is great and the overall feel is very upscale.
You can substitute meat for Tofu in most dishes. Great desserts too.
Wonderful place to eat! Wonderful Service! Wonderful People! We love Saffron
Our favorite restaurant in Cape! The staff is so kind and the food is excellent! They are extremely accommodating to food allergies such as Celiac Disease. Large servings and always good quality ingredients. We’ve gone here for years and will continue to go back! Update- Love that they have made online ordering easier! My husband and kids have always loved the fried rice, but I like to switch it up and have fallen in love with the Yum Jin Gai. Still the best Thai in cape!
I love Saffrons. You can literally close your eyes and land your finger on the menu, open your eyes and order what you finger is touching and it will be amazing. Thank you Saffrons, you are great. You make great food. Wonderful employees, great wonderful freakin amazing people. God dang it. You accommodate vegetarian needs and that makes me so happy. Take all my money. I always love the dim lighting and the window views of Cape splash.
I was very impressed with every aspect of my dining experience this evening. I ordered carryout online seamlessly. The posted pickup time was correct. The food packaging was the best I've ever seen. The fried rice was the best fried rice I've ever had. The creme brulee was amazing! I will definitely come back again and again!
We love this place! It’s definitely the best sushi in the area, by far. We also love the satay. Megan is obviously an excellent manager and very friendly and helpful. The servers have always been excellent. The atmosphere is perfect; the music is tasteful, and stays appropriately in the background. The food is always delicious and never disappoints. It’s definitely worth the 45 minute drive.
In case anybody needs it, I'm a size "Saffron Toast" for any gift giving
Love this place. Five friggin stars.
Though I haven't had the privilege of dining in but i have enjoyed the attentive staff and the relaxing atmosphere. I cant wait to enjoy the food as well.
Absolute perfection. We expected standard, Thai (maybe Americanized) fare but a gifted and friendly chef from Thailand, an attentive and personable server, very tasteful surroundings and the most authentic, delicious family recipes were what we found. And all at a reasonable price. We will be back, again and again. We have been in Cape several months, checking out the cuisine, and this was a delight in every way.
This is our favorite place to eat when visiting or driving by Cape. Their soups are delicious, nothing actually is bad.. you can’t go wrong with ordering anything on the menu. Desserts are to kill for. Best bread pudding, purple rice pudding is always a hit. We sure hope their quality doesn’t change…
Super nice staff and very helpful. Food pretty good but I’m Korean and from Houston and my brother in law is Laotian so I may be judging a little biased because I have access to authentic food. Overall great flavors and great price especially for the nigiri.
We enjoyed Fresh tasty food with great service here
My husband and I were in town to watch the OVC Outdoor Track championships and we're looking for a local restaurant, not a chain. We came across Bistro Saffron in an online search and decided to check it out. We were NOT disappointed!!! The service was fantastic, friendly and overall wonderful. However, the food, oh the food was beyond what we expected. We ordered three sushi rolls, pad Thai, and Curry. Everything was incredible!! We travel a lot and this was hands down some of the best sushi, curry and pad Thai we've ever had. This place is special and a hidden gem that more people need to know about. Keep up the amazing job!
My chicken sate' was absolutely delicious as was my pineapple fried rice with shrimp. The servings were extremely generous, so much so that I took home enough food for a second meal. Our waitress was exceptionally good. Great dining experience.
Excellent tasting food. I ordered the seafood hot pot and was pleasantly surprised just how good it was. The broth was outstanding and had plenty of seafood in it. It does have some heat to it. Then ordered some sushi and edamame...the sushi was good; presentation was a bit messy, and portion was small, but overall was good. It is on the pricey side, however I'm okay with that with the quality and taste of the food.
A VERY nice looking place. The food was great and the staff was nice and patient.
Saffron is our absolute number one choice to eat when we are kid free! The food is always fresh and so tasty. The environment is relaxing and the service is always great!
First time dining here at lunch with my daughter. Great little place for more upscale fare. We enjoyed the meal, ambiance and service and plan to come back soon.
The service was top notch! The chef was willing to make me my favorite soup that wasn't on the menu. The waiter took great care of us.
One of our favorites! Food is always wonderful - whether we eat in or order it to go. Service is fantastic.
My first time eating here. The price range is affordable. Saffron soup is the good entre to start with (my friend recommended). A little bit spicy for who love that taste. I also ordered stingha beer and was surprised as it taste. It bitter when you drink but will leave a sweet aftertaste. Would come again to try another Thai curry dishes!!! Highly Recommend I gave it 4 stars since the topping was not as my expectation (should add shrimp or ground pork since the bowl just has 2 pieces of shrimp)
Great as always. Been coming here for years. 👍
Food was very good and server was friendly and attentive
Nice restaurant and the staff were good. There were surprisingly few vegetarian options for a Thai restaurant, but I think that's location, location, location. If you like Thai food, steak, and chicken this is the restaurant for you.
So I slid up on this "saffron bistro" the other day, not expecting this Kung Pao experience. When my wife and I pulled up, we waited around 10 minutes with no acknowledgement and a lady tartly seated us. My woman's feet were sore from waiting. Despite that, the vibes of the place were pleasant. It was quiet so I hummed some tunes for my wife and I to pass the time. I got some Nigiri. The salmon was a 7/10, no cap, but the sticky rice was not cooked enough. 3/10 if I am being generous. It was almost crunchy. The prices were reasonable for Cape Girardeau. Would I come back? If my wife wanted to.
I ordered sushi to go almost on 50$. I came home and opened the bag, and I was so disappointed that I don't have sushi sticks and soy sauce included!! I was tired to go back and complain, my evening and mood was ruined, sorry. It's first in my life I didn't get soy sauce and sticks with sushi. Rolls were not bad.
Was not happy with whole evening. I reserved a month in advance for my bday/anniv/valentines dinner and i did stipulate that on my reservation!. We were sat at a small 2 top table(like at ihop or applebees type small table) in btwn 2 top and 4 top tables we were listening to everyone elses convo only being a foot or 2 apart awkward !! And not the way i wanted my celeb evening to be. I expected more! The room seemed packed in weve been there b4 and it was not set like that. Food: chef fried rice with chicken was bland and slightly dry so had to ask for soy sauce and salt pepper to jazz it up. Cashew chicken i was so looking forward to this but it was so spicy hot was so hard to eat so took a togo box and mixed it with rice/citrus at home for lunch next day still spicy but able to eat it. California roll was good and the cheese rolls were good . I will not reserve a celebration/ special occasion here again, ok for drop in lunch all be pricey one. Staff was pleasant /smiling and when asked ? Were informative.
All I have to say is the service was wonderful. The young waiter who has been their for a while is very nice and helpful and competent. Veggie rolls were good, pan fried dumplings tasted like they were frozen and dropped in hot oil, not freshly made. Very disappointed in our cashew chicken. Dropped over $70.00 with tip just to be disappointed.
Just ordered the chef's fried rice. This is just steamed rice with some seasoning and chicken that is the same color as the rice. Very sad to pay $17 for rice! Btw I didn't touch it and yes that is how it was packaged
Sushi rolls were lacking in the amount of tuna (one piece had none in it at all) Lacking flavor and sushi rice was not cooked properly. Sent it back and ordered Wonton soup and it was tasty. Would not go back here for the lunch special rolls. Service was very good.
Middle aged server angry that I don’t leave a tip. I’m a single person having a meal alone. I don’t think a tip is warranted for you to place my plate on the table bring me water and my check. As I’m sitting in my car writing this review another employee comes to my window a male this time. Asking me if my service was bad and why I didn’t leave a tip. Apparently the only reason they work here is for tips. The state minimum wage for servers is apparently 5$ per hour plus tips. I’m not from this state but all I can say is fight for your right to a living wage. A customer shouldn’t supplement what the job you have isn’t providing. Overall food was great unfortunately I won’t be back after this.
As a long time lover of Bistro Saffron, I am SO disappointed in the service I received. After my friend and I attempted to order a beer and SHOWING THEM my valid ID, they said they “didn’t feel comfortable serving us.” Mind you, I am 22 and my friend is 25 and my friend had a valid ID as well. I WILL NOT be returning which makes me sad since they were my favorite restaurant. Don’t discriminate on looks Bistro!
If it wasn’t for the service, I would give a higher score. We waited well over 10 minutes and had to remind the waitress that one person at the table wanted tea. After that we ordered appetizers. No issues they came out. Great quality. Then we ordered our meal. There were 7 of us. Our food started slowing coming out. And yet one persons food did not arrive. We waited until our waitress came back and asked if we could get refills on drinks and asked where the missing food was. She proceeded to tell us that she forgot to put that one order in. So now we are waiting on the food order to be placed. Frustration had already set in. For a fairly upscale place this is disappointing. Almost $300 ticket and very poor service.
