Phenomenal service and amazing food is always a great combo, and this Murphy st Burmese restaurant satisfied our cravings. I got the egg and okra curry with jasmine rice (extra) and an Arnold Palmer, and we also got samosas to share. As you can see, portion sizes are generous and worth it. The curry was quite flavorful, the jasmine rice was well cooked, and the Arnold Palmer wasn't too sweet, just right. The ambience both inside and outside is pleasant and the servers were kind. We came on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. I recommend this spot!

Okay here's a weird review. I've eaten here several times and the food is always great. Today I ordered Nan gyi thoke (noodles; I've had them before and they're excellent) but they accidentally gave me tofu. I'll take some blame on that. I came by right before lunch closing asking for a to-go order so not exactly the most convenient time to order. Honestly? Some of the best tofu I've ever had. Still giving 5/5 stars, but probably worth checking your take-out order.

Their noodle and soup dishes are really good!! If you’re looking for a solid lunch/dinner option, this place is where to go at!! Love the family friendly vibes here and the staff are A grade level!! You won’t be disappointed one bit!!

We were looking for a restaurant on Murphy to eat outside and we decided to try Burma Taste. We were seated on the heated patio, which was perfect given that the weather was rather cold. We were immediately asked about the drinks and given the menu. We went for tea salad, fish noodle soup, sesame chicken and garlic noodles on chicken. We got the food almost immediately. Their tea salad is the best one I have ever had and here I am comparing it with a couple of well rated Burmese restaurants in San Francisco. The portions were very generous and everyone loved their food (which is rare for our family). Our server was a very nice and courteous young man. We had a wonderful experience. Highly recommended!

I'm thrilled to share my fantastic experience at this beautiful Burmese restaurant in Sunnyvale downtown. The food here is incredibly delicious and bursting with flavors, offering a wide variety to choose from. What impressed me the most was the friendly staff and their attentiveness to our needs. As a vegetarian, I was delighted to find plenty of mouthwatering vegetarian options available on the menu. It's not just my favorite restaurant, but also my husband's go-to place for Burmese cuisine. When we visited with our friends, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We couldn't get enough of the Shan tofu, which was a true delight, and the curries were simply divine. Overall, this restaurant has won our hearts with its delectable dishes, warm ambiance, and top-notch service. If you're looking for an exceptional Burmese dining experience, this place is a must-visit!

Burma Taste is a neatly tucked Burmese place that truly surprised us recently, in a very positive way. When we think Burmese food, we often think of Rangoon Ruby or Burma Superstar. I had never heard of Burma Taste before. But after our recent dinner, I can confirm that this place is legit, with some delicious Burmese food. We were a party of 7, and everyone of us had a really good time. We ate across a variety of salads, soups, noodles, rice and entree - everything was delightful. Service was good, staff was very patient, and decent overall ambience. Since this is Sunnyvale downtown, parking can be a bit of a challenge, but you won't regret the effort. Enjoy!

Rainbow salad, Shan tofu, and palatha were great. Large portions. Eggplant curry was ok. Went a second time as well!

We were at the AMC to watch a movie and there after we came here for lunch. It was a bit challenging to find this place as you can enter this restaurant from the front and back side too. It's a huge place with seating inside and outside. We were seated outside as the weather was nice and not too hot. We ordered cocktails and food and dessert, all were delicious. The service was great by Khaled our server. I loved everything about this place. I will highly recommend it.

We’ve come here a few times and tried to order different dishes every time and have loved everything that we’ve ordered thus far. This time we got tea leaf salad, pumpkin chicken and kebat chicken. Tea lead salad has a great mixture of different texture- crispy, crunchy, and soft. The tea leaf sauce also made the dish more peculiar. The chicken in the two chicken dishes were extra tender. Pumpkin stew chicken is great with rice. Kebat chicken is delicious but I hope it had more vegetables. Our goal is to come here more often and order something new every time.

Perfect ambiance for Friday diners with friends and family. They have indoor, outdoor and semi-outdoor seating. Service and staff is great and friendly. We had Black Pepper Chicken ( spicier side) and Burma House Noodles ( sweet and tangy). Both were amazing!! Apart from these two; I would recommend Palata desserts. We loved it.

Food: Got takeout from here after watching a movie at the AMC. We ordered 5 items, and they were all fantastic! The palata with veggie curry was super yummy - perfectly fried palata with flavorful curry. The tea leaf salad is a great, standard vegetarian option. Of the two noodles we ordered, I’d suggest the Burmese noodles with shrimp over the nan gyi thoke (which is one of their signature dishes). The lemongrass chicken is an awesome source yummy protein. Dishes are a bit on the smaller side for takeout - three of us finished off all 5 items. Service: Really nice people working here who give a lot of suggestions! Atmosphere: Has indoor and outdoor seating (on a pedestrian street) and seems like a cozy spot!

Great food and lovely people serving! We got the Burmese noodles, tea leaf salad, kabat with jasmine rice, samosas, and the Burmese milk tea cocktail. The tea leaf salad was SO good. Kabat is yummy and a little spicy. We sat outside because the air was nice and cool, but there seemed to be a lot of pollen in the air drifting around. Walked in on a Monday evening and immediately got seated.

I've always loved Burmese food and was super excited to see a place open up on Murphy. This food is amazing! It rivals my favorite Burmese places in SF. Do yourself a favor and go here. Ambience is awesome, staff is great, food is just *chef's kiss*. The tea leaf salad, the Palata with chicken, the garlic noodles, the pork belly. All absolutely amazing! This is my new favorite spot on Murphy street! Please support local businesses and visit Burma Taste. You will not be disappointed.

Delicious, fresh Burmese! The atmosphere is what you’d expect for downtown Sunnyvale, but don’t go there for the atmosphere! Go for a very good curry or for tea leaf salad. Yum!

So happy to see this Burmese place in Sunnyvale now! The food is great, staff was extremely friendly and really enjoyed the experience. We tried the rainbow salad, we usually go for the tea leaf salad but loved the rainbow salad as well. It comes with 22 different ingredients. Samosas soup was very yummy and highly recommended. The samosa and potatoes come on the side. Nan gyi thoke tasted amazing too. It is a rice noodle with coconut curry. Absolutely loved all of these dishes, the spice levels, flavor were perfect. They also have few wine and beer options, which goes along with the food. If you like Burmese food, this place is a must try!

Lovely Burmese woman-owned Burmese restaurant in Sunnyvale! As a vegetarian Burmese person, I was super excited to see the extensive options for vegetarians. The prices are very fair for the large portions. The garlic noodles could taste a bit more garlicy. The tofu was super crispy and the samosas were just like from home in Yangon. Service was also great. Cassandra (owner) walked around herself to check on everyone and the atmosphere was lovely. Excited to try more.

We had a wonderful time eating here for dinner with friends. Delicious food and friendly service. We made reservations are were seated promptly. Food came out fast. We got the tea leaf salad, samosa soup, roti, sesame tofu, fiery veggies, and two desserts. Definitely recommend! 👍👍

I love this part of downtown, so many places to visit and Burma Taste should be an included stop. I was able to sit outside for my lunch and is something I recommend if you have that option. Service is excellent and your choice will be at your table quicker than you’d think. I chose their Vegetable Curry and Coconut Rice. My meal was hot with fresh veggies and decent flavor. The sweetness of the rice went well with the curry. Keep in mind that rice is an extra charge. I added a Lychee Martini for my adult beverage that was refreshing a lychee sweet. There are tons of parking close by but the street is closed to traffic which allows you to people watch while enjoying the meal. Portions are great for the price so bro your appetite. If you are looking to try something different Burma Taste will deliver.

My first foray into Burmese food and I enjoyed it! As an app, we got the vegetarian curry and roti, which was probably my favorite dish. I got the Burmese chow mein, which I liked. The chicken was plentiful and yummy, but nothing extraordinary. My friend got the crispy chicken based on the server’s recommendation, and it was very crispy and well sauced. My other friend got a tofu curry, which had huge tofu slabs. The portion sizes are plentiful, which makes it worthwhile even though it’s a standard price. Service was also super fast, by the time it took the three of us to go to the bathroom, the food was out. Just note that rice is not included, you do have to buy it. Overall, I enjoyed this place and Burmese food in general

There are many restaurants on the street. We picked this one to try something new. We are not disappointed. We recommend the tea leaves salad, with a unique taste unlike other salads. We also like the egg plant dish with yummy sauce, best served with rice. We would come back to try other dishes

Really like the food and service here. The eggplant shrimp and shrimp rolls are great, the tea leaf salad is a must have, and the cocktails are priced like it's still 2016 :) The service was really prompt and the price reasonable. Can't complain. IDK how much the food is really authentic Burma - maybe it's Americanized a bit - but that's fine with me, the flavors are great and will definitely come back for more.

I had one of the best meals ever! Loved every dish. Especially sweet chilli tofu! 1. Spring Rolls (3/5): (my parents loved it but I didn't) 2. Sweet Chilli Tofu (5/5): (it's phenomenal!) Ask them to get the sweet sauce on the side - please not over it as it's wayyyyy to sweet then. 3. Burma House Noodle (5/5): (vegan, no egg in a separate wok with peanuts on the side). tasted really good. Wish it had more veggies and was less greasy 4. Spicy or Crispy Tofu (5/5): One of their starters / dry main courses where I subbed the Chicken with Tofu. It was amazing! Will definitely come back to try more vegan options (I've heard that the tea leaf salad, mango tofu are all great vegan options) This is a vegan / veg / vegetarian / plant based review 🌿

Make sure to enter from Murphy side. Google maps has the pin at the back of the restaurant and it walking by the stinky trash area. Service was great! We made reservations but we came early on a weeknight and there was no one there. By the time we left, it was full except for some outside tables. We ordered way too much food. Everything we ordered was good. My favorites were the palata, green tea salad and the tofu dishes. Mango salad was a little disappointing, not much mango on it. Didn't get a pic of it. This is somewhere we would come back again.

My friends and I ordered takeout from Burma Taste and got our large nine-item order in about 20 minutes. All we heard during dinner was a symphony of "oh my god" and "MMMM"--that's how good the food is. Our favorites were the eggplant, tea leaf salad, Nan Gyi Thoke, and samosas. The thick slices of eggplant were tender and garlicky. They cooked them in a way that nicely retained the skin's purple hue. The tea leaf salad was a perfect refreshing side and a full textural experience with crispy, crunchy fried bits. The Nan Gyi Thoke was flavorful and heart-warming; it tasted like a delicious home-cooked meal. For the samosas, the potato filling was treated with a nice assortment of spices that left you wanting more even though you were probably full from half due to its sheer size!

Ordered rainbow salad and nan gyi thoke, pretty unique, the salad had so much variety and was overall more flavorful. The noodles in the thoke were surprisingly chewy and soft, the curry was on the milder side but not bad.

Food was very tasty; liked the vibe; great service. Good menu selection. I had the squash (or was it pumpkin?) stew. The menu said it came with tofu, but I had to ask for that (or chicken, your choice) it was not spicy at all (which I LOVED!) good flavor. A bit skimpy on the broccoli but otherwise a good portion. I recommend ordering a side of rice. Also got the palada for dessert! it came with orange slices and vanilla ice cream, VERY GOOD and great to share.

Great atmosphere here, right along the main street in Sunnyvale. Excellent service. Tea Leaf Salad is popular, and the peanuts, crushed garlic, and dried shrimp provide a nice pop. The Shan Tofu was another complimentary appetizer. Coconut noodles soup with chicken was tasty but a little thick for my taste. Comes with crispies, hard-boiled egg slices, and cilantro on the side. Vegetable Curry was more like stew than curry to me, but still good. For dessert we had Fried Jackfruit and Banana wrapped in a pastry shell roll and Sweet Black Sticky Rice. Both with ice cream on the side. I enjoyed both, but some people in my group thought the sticky rice was undercooked. Those dishes plus a round of drinks (two mimosas, an old fashioned, and a Moscow mule) plus tax/tip came to about $42/person.

This is my first time to a Burmese restaurant and it was pretty good. I got tea leaf salad, coconut pudding and black sticky rice dessert. Tea leaf salad was with great mixture of different texture- crispy, crunchy, and soft. To top it off the sauce along with it made it even more better. The dessert was a little minus to me as I couldn’t sense a taste of coconut in coconut pudding and black sticky rice was average as well. But the place has really nice ambience being located in Sunnyvale downtown and the service was top notch.

We were promptly seated and served. Staff were friendly and attentive, perhaps because it was slow. Gluten free items were clearly labeled on the menu which put me at ease. The Burma noodles were tasty and the mango shrimp was so good, a bit spicy but so yummy! Prices were a little high but food was quality. I’d definitely go back here.

Love it! Glad to see a new Burmese restaurant in Sunnyvale downtown. Service was great, they have a nice outdoor seating and the staff is friendly and warm! Tried a couple of items - all very good! The curry was very flavorful but it doesn’t come with rice or anything, you have order that on side. Portion size is decent. Tea Leaf Salad - 4/5 Palata - 5/5 Vegetable curry - 5/5 Burmese Chowmein - 4/5 Basil Lemongrass Chicken - very flavorful 5/5 Definitely recommend trying this one!!

Rainbow salad was flavorful, good portion size, and refreshing. First time trying nan gyi thoke, it's a chicken curry noodle dish. Noodles were chewy and yummy, but thought the curry could be more savory. Good and fast service, easy parking nearby

Decent food, good atmosphere. Went here for dinner to celebrate a birthday and they gave us a complimentary birthday vanilla ice cream with a candle, served with a sprinkle of edible birthday confetti flakes, a candy cherry 🍒, and orange 🍊 slices in a martini cocktail (triangular) glass!! The ice cream was rich and creamy and had a gelato-like texture and consistency without feeling too thick or heavy. 🍨 We ordered the black pepper beef, vegetable curry (green beans, carrots, okra, eggplant, tofu), and samosas. Loved the potato samosas!! The beef had nice flavor but was really tough and hard to chew/break apart for some pieces. The vegetable curry was soupy and tasted really good (green beans and tofu were a highlight, and eggplant was good but there was only 1 tiny partial piece of eggplant included in the dish), but doesn’t come with rice. We had a nice dinner overall and the waitress gave us a bag automatically for our Togo boxes - that attention to detail was appreciated! Service was efficient and friendly!

Went for dinner and food was pretty decent. As a vegetarian, I had no trouble choosing what to order since they have a ton of veggie options on the menu. We got house noodles and a tofu curry. They weren’t bad, but nothing special. I’m still thinking about trying their tea leaf salad, though. That might be the thing that makes me decide if I like them or not.

We chose this Burmese restaurant, the closest one on historic Murphy Ave, for our office lunch outing. We secured patio seating along the road, which was ideal for the lovely weather. Outdoor seating is preferable for larger groups. We kicked off with drinks, including Mango Mojito, Burma Dream, and Burmese Iced Milk Tea. The Burma Dream was complex and enjoyable, while the Burmese Iced Milk Tea didn’t go over well with the group - no one finished it. The Palata served with Veg Curry Dip or Chicken Curry Dip was as good as always, and the Sweet Chili Tofu was tasty. However, the Shrimp Rolls were disappointing, just shrimp in batter with no flavor, skip it. The Tea Leaf Salad was good, but the Mango Salad was even better - a must-try! Between the Fish Chowder Noodle Soup (Moat Hingar) and the Samosa Soup, we preferred the Moat Hingar as it was more rich in flavor. For entrees, we enjoyed the Black Pepper Lamb, Eggplant Shrimp with Garlic Sauce, Burmese Shrimp Curry and Fiery Vegetables. The Kebat Lamb and Kebat Veggie were a bit bland and could use more seasoning. We wrapped up with desserts: Coconut Pudding and Jackfruit Bananas. The Jackfruit Bananas were definitely the highlight. Both desserts were similar and came with ice cream, but the Coconut Pudding was in thick batter compared to the Jackfruit Bananas. Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed a wonderful team lunch.

A pretty nice Burmese restaurant on Murphy Street in downtown Sunnyvale. We sat outside on a sunny day. The Burmese chicken curry stew with biryani rice was very flavorful. Another standout was the rainbow salad recommended by our waitress, which combined savory, sweet, spicy, and sour flavors (although just a little too sweet for my taste) and balanced the soft noodle texture with the crunchiness of the fried wonton skins and puffed rice very well. The garlic noodles were a little bland and the noodles seemed to come from pre-packaged, not freshly made in house. The sauce that came from it added more flavor but again, too sweet. Service was friendly. The water tasted a bit funny and we were not sure what it was. Price is a bit high, but given its location on the historic Murphy Street, it’s comparable to the other nearby restaurants.

The decoration in the restaurant is relatively old. Service is good, food is okay. We ordered plata with chicken curry dip and it came REALLY quick. Tasted ok but I feel the taste of curry could have gone stronger. We also got eggplant shrimp and chili beef. Both were good but definitely not the best we had. We were comparing Burma Taste with other Burma food in the Bay Area, and we thought other Burma restaurant probably had better atmosphere and better tasting food. This place is ok and we’ll prob go somewhere else. For drinks, we really recommend Burma Dream cocktail! Very interesting mixture of mango flavor

The samosa were good but not special and I could say the same for the rest of the food. It's all good food just not different but I would like to try some different dishes next time. Good news is not too expensive and service is great. Spicey eggplant garlic and spicy crispy chicken had similar sauces which was dissapointing and I wish the server would have mentioned that. Burma Chow Mien with chicken is good with a pleasant flavor and noodles done perfectly.

Not being a great fan of Asian cuisine, visited the restaurant by chance. I must say that it was rhe Best decision. The food here really tastes so good and raises the bar. We ordered for a tea salad initially, felt odd on the tea part but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise, it was crunchy, spicy and yummy. Finished it off in few mins. Burmese milk cold tea was also good. The next hightlight was the walnut honey glazed shrimp- the crunchy walnut was a unique top notch taste, shrimp waa also very well made. The pineapply fried rice was also too good. Will definitely revisit the place for trying other items in the menu.

Overall short staffed on a Monday. After ordering appetizers and appetizers served, we need to ask to order our main dishes. My specific dish was missed and we had to remind them, and so it took about 30-40 minutes from when we ordered main dish to when i got my food, and an hour from when we sat down. The food was alright. The lamb was definitely not chewy, but wasn't spectacular. The sweet black rice had bits that felt undercooked (hard). So 4 stars for food, 2 stars for slow service and missed order.

When we are in Murphy Avenue area we usually go to dish dash but we took a risk because we wanted some Asian food. For mango lovers, this place has a lot of fresh mango dishes. Despite my severe mango allergy, we decided to give it a try. (Usually avoid SE Asian restaurants with mango down in the peninsula, unlike SF we find communicating food allergies is a time sink) We saw a lot of people eating the ubiquitous tea salad, and dry (no broth) noodle dishes. The chicken in the garlic noodles was tender, there was zero garlic flavor though. It did come with a spicy shallot and pepper condiment which had a nice kick. We don't recommend the fried foods, they are fried crispy but oily. The samosas weren't particularly flavorful, and oil oozed out. It came with a tamarind sauce mixed with a Sriracha? The crispy pork belly was fried crispy, but unfortunately half of each strip was pure fat and there were chunks that were pure fat. It came with a super sweet sauce we think was maeploy sweet chili. After eating here, we felt heavy, despite not eating much. I also got a slight case of my usual mango hives around the mouth. (most likely the shallots or peppers unbeknownst to our server, shared a cutting board with mango or one of our foods was cooked where previously a mango dish had been). While we didn't enjoy what we ordered, they do have a very extensive menu, and presentation was nice.

Maybe we didn’t order the right things or don’t know the difference it has from Thai food, but all three dishes tasted just ok. The chicken curry was bland and oily at the same time. The eggplant shrimp dish was relatively better but there was an overpowering sourness. The samosas were tasty inside but had very oily shells. Portions and service were good!

Tea leaf salad had a bit of a kick which was a pleasant surprise. Pumpkin/Squash was not very warm. Garlic noodles were not garlicky enough and the pork was just cold cut bbq pork.

3.5Star Burma Taste Curry is a versatile dish that varies across cultures. For me, Burmese curry stands out as the only curry I could eat daily. I enjoyed it for lunch every day for two years at a small restaurant in San Bruno, California, until a change in ownership led to the loss of the authentic flavor I cherished. Since then, I have been on a quest to find that same taste. I visited Burma Taste with high expectations, driven by its high reviews. To better experience eating Burmese food, it’s important to pause, take a sip of your drink, and continue. Your palate may initially be overwhelmed by the intense flavors. This approach allows you to appreciate the complex flavors more fully. At Burma Taste, the curry sauce was mild in a good way, not overpowering, allowing the other flavors to shine through. The chicken was tender, though it lacked a bit of flavor. The shrimp wrap appetizer was flavorful but a bit too wet for the lettuce wrap. Service was good until our server forgot one of our three orders: 1 appetizer and 2 main dishes. When the second main dish was late, we asked her why it had taken so long and she replied, "It's coming." Forty minutes later, we got our check but no dish. Our server left and never said anything to anyone! As it turned out, she had forgotten to order our third dish. Regrettably, my search for authentic Burmese cuisine continues.

The food was not good - we got the garlic noodles and kebat chicken, both of which were extremely bland and almost tasteless. The texture of the chicken in both dishes was also strangely rubbery/slimey and unappetizing. Would not recommend at all.

Was a regular until now, not sure if the management changed, everything that was good about this place has gone bad now. The food was too oily and not fresh. We found a strand of hair in the soup. They are severely under-staffed , the day I went only two waitress were there for the whole restaurant. One of them was good and the other one was pretty rude, we had the rude one wait on us. She never came near the tables, we had to get up and fine them most of the time. Had a wonderful time all these years in Burma Taste, but now it all ruined for me.
